Does it cost money to use Safari on the Touch?
Hey guys, I went to the apple store and played wit the touch for a little bit and i tried out the Safari feature and it was awesome, i was able to go to any site i wanted to without a problem, it just seems like its too easy, i kno the wifi is free but does the Safari cost money when u use it, is it like a phone that charges u for bytes transfered or w.e?
Some access points do charge. Apple Stores provide free wireless internet. Some public places do as well. Some (e.g. Starbucks, many large hotel chains) charge for internet access. There is no charge to use Safari +per se+. In some cases (Starbucks is like this) you can connect to the wireless access point (i.e. your IPT or laptop will show you as connected) but you need to open a browser for a page to pop up so you can pay for access.

In general, no.
But, some Apps allow optional in-app purchases, so you can buy things from within the app.
Also, many Apps connect to the internet, and any data charges would apply, so if you don't have an unlimited data plan for your iPhone, using the internet through an App will cost the same as using the internet in any other way. -

The title says it all. Last night I wanted to email a person from a text I got and set up iCloud. I do not remember a cost being mentioned. If so, how do you get rid of it as I have three other email addresses elsewhere?

I am in germany and I'm using my families wlan to connect to the internet with my cell phone (send emails, check facebook etc). Now i was wondering if that is going to cost me any extra. My Plan is NATIONWIDE TALK & TEXT FS 700
Since it's wifi I figured I would not be charged for it.

If you are using your family's WLAN, then you will not be charged for it. Just make sure that it is the WLAN and not wireless cellular data that you are using. -

You can only Message with other iOS users and since Messages works with WiFi - there is no charge to text another iOS user. It is not like sending a text from a cell phone.

No. Because your tablet data plan is capped, Verizon lets you use the tethering and hotspot at no extra charge. Just keep in mind that it DOES use data from your plan so if you got a 1 gig $20 plan hotspot will burn that up in a hurry.
Frankly, I wish Verizon would do this on smartphones too. I would GLADLY give up unlimited data in exchange for tethering / hotspot included with the plan. Upselling tethering is so 1980's. The rest of the world includes teethering as part of the data plan service, though their data plans are usually capped at 3Gig or 5Gig.
Believe me, I am not going to STOP throwing this fact in US carriers' faces until they see the light and stop upselling this inherent functionality. It was always intended by OEM's to be a standard open functionality of a smartpone, not a FEATURE to be up-sold and monetized.
Verizon is offering free tethering on 4G LTE devices? GREAT. Keep it that way!!! -

Tablets don't need to subscribe to the 3G mobile hotspot feature. All usage is deducted from the mobile broadband plan.

The last week, Firefox will not load up the NEW YORK TIMES. So, I have had to use Safari to do so. If this continues, I'm going to quit using your browser, and begin using Safari all the time!
There are several other similar posts in this forum with the answers. Your post appears third in my Google search today looking for a solution so I thought I'd add the solution here as well.
It is obviously a bug in either (or both) Firefox and the NYT.
The quickest solution is to simply go to the VIEW Menu in Firefox, then the ZOOM option and choose RESET.
I use Mac and this happens in Firefox 3.6.10. It does not happen in other browsers like Safari, Chrome and Camino, and it did not occur before last week.
It has also occurred in the iOS version of Safari on iPad. Not sure how to fix it there. -

Using Safari on the iPad unsupported mode with R17
I have a customer that just purchased iPad's for their sales force and they are trying to use the "Safari" or "Private Browser" in an unsupported mode. They have turned off the message center, but when they try and login after clicking through the unsupported browser message they receive the following error:
Occam Browser Update Servlet: Uncaught exception: and uncaught exception has occurred while attempting to render the page. Please try again later or contact Customer Care for more information.
I know we have customers and internal sales consultants that have CRM OD working on the iPad with the message center turned off. Has anyone seen this error when attempting to login with the iPad or iPhone?
