Does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3

does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3?

It depends on where you live. You should be able to download virtually everything again for free if you live in the U.S except for some movies, audiobooks and extra iTunes content with movies.
This explains how you can download again for free. You must be using the same Apple ID that you bought the content with as well.

I think what the message is saying is that if you download past purchases for that account then you will be tying the Mac to that account for 90 days - I was thinking that it was saying that it's already associated with an account, not that you are about to associate it. If you don't want that to happen (which if it's your only account then it shouldn't be an issue), then you should be able to copy the content from your other Mac to it via, for example, home sharing : copying content between computers.

  • Re-downloading previously purchased songs on a different computer

Transfer the song files from one computer to the other manually, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. Except for applications, one purchase only entitles you to one download; if you don't have the files at all, fill out and submit this form.

How can I re-download previously purchased songs from itunes?

You only get one download.  It is your responsibility to backup your purchases.
UNLESS, you are in the U.S, then you can use the Beta version of icloud.  Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick links

  • My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes

My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed (my computer) I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes.  When I'm signed into Itunes and attempt to download from the cloud a text box pops up saying "I need to authorize the computer before I can download previous purchases".  I'm using the same computer that I purchased all previous songs.  So how do I authorize my computer?

    On your Computer...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

Can't DL previous purchased songs on authorized computer

If you still have the entries for the songs in your iTunes library (even if the actual music files no longer exist), then iTunes assumes that you already have them and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting the entry for one of them from iTunes and then try re-downloading it, and if it works then do the same for the others

  • New Hard Drive - How to re-download previously purchased songs?

I have an iTunes account. My son and I have purchased songs thru the same account. I have my songs in iTunes in my mac desktop. He has his songs in his iPod.
My desktop's hard drive recently died and had to be replaced. I had all my songs backed up so no problem there.
But my son did not have all his songs in his iPod.
When I go to the iTunes store I see all the songs we have purchased but I can't figure out how to download them again to the new hard drive.
    Any help is appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

See this -> iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
    Go here -> http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/lostmusic/
and send an email to Apple.
They have been known to allow users, on a case by case basis, to re-download songs ONE TIME.
If they do allow this, make sure to back up any purchases immediately.
Also, if the songs are on an iPod, they can be taken off the iPod back onto the computer.

  • HT204074 two different id's ,can you download previous purchased songs and software to each of these ID's ?

I have an existing ipod with an ID which I have purchased songs and books.  I have purchased an I pad and am ready to set up an ID.
Can I set up a separate ID for the I Pad ? Does this require a  new I tunes software? Can I transfer existing purchases from  my I existing ID ?
The I tunes software is on Windows 7 Professional .

    Hi visfromal,
Not sure why you would want to set up a separate AppleID? If you set up a new one, then you will have to still keep your old one for updating any apps you purchased under that old ID. If you are wanting to set up a new ID because you now have, say a new @me.com email address, and want to use that as your AppleID, then you can do that, but, again, you will still have to use your old ID's password to update any Apps you purchased under that one.
If you do end up setting up a new ID, then it would be a good idea to try to keep the passwords for both IDs in sync. Then, when you have to enter one to do an update, you won't have to worry about which ID it is, since the password will be the same.
You will not need new iTunes software - you just sign off your old ID, and sign on with your new one.
    Hope this helps!

  • Downloading previously purchased songs to new computer

How do I re-download songs that I already purchased and downloaded onto my old computer, onto my new computer? Or how do I get access to the iTunes library on my old computer from my new computer?

You can only download iTunes purchases once: iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
This page will give you various options for copying purchases from one computer to another: iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the default location on the new computer. On a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have and iPod, some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch): How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
Also if you are disposing of the old computer remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your 5 allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • How to download previously purchased songs from iTunes to ipad2 without transferring music from an old MAC that is not supported?

You would have to copy the music to a computer that is supported and sync it from there.

  • HT201272 Cannot download previously purchased songs.

I go to iTunes store > purchased > name of artist ... and the songs I'm missing are listed.
However, where the "download" button is supposed to be it says "downloaded" and clicking on it has no effect. I assume that I downloaded them once when I first purchased the album, but they're missing from my Media Folder.
So, I need to REdownload the songs. How do I do that?

Yes ... thank you. I actually figured this out last night, but you're right on.
    1. Delete the songs from the song list ... this eliminates the names from the iTunes Library.
    2. Run Update iTunes Match from the Store menu (probably not necessary ... but I was trying everything at this point).
    3. Go back to Purchased Music in the iTunes Store.
Now the store no longer thinks that the songs are on my computer, and the "Download" button is active.

  • HT201272 How do I re-download previous purchased songs

I previously purchsed several albums.  My computer did a crash and now the I tunes are no lnger there.  When I clicked on the purchase button a window came up and says I can re-dowload for free but it does not say how.

  • HT201272 I'm trying to download previously purchased songs onto a new PC

Some of the tracks are greyed and won'r play or download from the cloud. I have internet connection and some things have worked fine.

Yes- it is a Mac. I went through adobes system requirements and re- downloaded supportive software. The notice seems to happen near the end of the down load with the messages above. I'll look into your suggestion. Thank you- appreciated.

  • I changed my iTunes password and now I can't download previous purchases

I changed my iTunes password (but kept the same username), and now I can't re-download any songs that I purchased BEFORE changing the password.
When I follow the steps in the Apple support pages on how to re-download previously purchased songs, I am taken to my "Purchased" page in the iTunes store, but the songs I purchased before the password change don't show at all.  Only the songs that I purchased after changing the password appear.
When I search for one of the older songs in the iTunes store, the menu bar to the right of the song says "purchased," confirming that I did indeed purchase the item.  But again, I can't download it.
Again, I did not change my AppleID, only my password.
Does anyone know a fix for this?  Thanks.

    Hi hyperslam,
Are you certain that you are looking at "Purchased" here:
    And not here:
You want to look for your Purchased items under QUICK LINKS not under the "Store" heading in the sidebar!
