Does it "hurt" the timecapsule if i cut the power every night?

i use my timecapsule as a wlan rooter and do not want to have the wlan active over night. since there is no on/off i simply cut the power in the evening. do you think this will hurt the timecapsule over a longer period?
thanks

Wireless does not continuously transmit.. when you don't actually pass packets over wireless, the signal is just a short poll, every few seconds.. a burst to tell wireless devices I am here. The actual level of signal is extremely low..
If you are concerned about security.. WPA2 Personal with 20 character key.. full combo of upper, lower and digit alphanumeric.. will not be broken.
If you are concerned for safety.. the power rf output of the dect phone is 10x greater than wifi. The radio and communications signals in your house from mobile phone towers for instance could be greater.
If you are concerned for power and environment.. the actual standby power demand of the TC is around 8W. The problem is shutting it down every night produces expansion and contraction issues. Replacement of the TC faster than normal counteracts any benefit gained for power saved. But that is the point we don't know.. will it break or how fast. Hard to know.

Can I always operate my MacBook while plugged into an electrical outlet,  does this hurt the battery?

Doing so does not hurt the battery. When remaining connected to a power source after the battery is fully charged, charging stops.
It is recommended to go through one complete charge cycle at least once a month.

  • Does it hurt the phone's battery to charge it before it is totally dead?

Does it hurt the battery to charge it before it is totally dead?

This is a heavily debated issue, not only with iPhone batteries, but also with batteries for almost any other electronic device. Some think it is paramount to wait until it is almost drained (10%>) before charging it, while others don't think it hurts it at all to charge it whenever you like. The only thing I would recommend you don't do too much is let it drain to 0% and let it sit in that state for too long. You may also want to be more careful with when you charge it the first few times you do (this is known as conditioning the battery).
Hope that clears it up a bit for you.

Does anyone know the power cord part for HP A532 printer? I need a replacement cord. THANKS!

Here's the steps to follow if your printer isn't turning on.
If you've gone through all those steps and you still don't have power, there are a lot of places that sell a replacement cord and supply for that printer.

  • Where does SMC get the power to reset?

Where does SMC get the power to reset?

The SMC is maintained when the battery is connected or the charger is. When removed the SMC's content is erased. However, if your computer has a PRAM battery, then the SMC may use that instead of the main battery. But not all notebooks have a PRAM battery but rely on the main battery only. All depends on the specific motherboard design. Typically, these lithium cells have a maximum life of around 5 years.
In any case you have not stated what you think the problem is with your SMC, so I cannot say whether your assumption about having a dead PRAM battery is correct. If you cannot maintain PRAM settings, then that would be more indicative or the battery being dead.

  • When charging and using, ipad 2 is 100% battery, does ipad use the power from the power adapter or from the battery?

I have a quention, when i am charging and using my ipad 2 at the same time, if the battery of ipad is fully 100%, does ipad use the power to work from the power adapter only or from the battery only or both? Thanks!

YOu don't have to have your receipt. Apple should have a record of how long you've had the device. If you bought it in april 2012, then your 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects is almost up. You should find your local apple store, make an appointment and take it in.

  • Why does my 4S ask me to confirm my iCloud password every night ?

Sorry to ask my question is the header. Anyway, just stated asking for the password every night around midnight. I enter and all seem OK. I’m confused.
    Thanks

Happens to me also - but not every night but every couple of nights - says it needs it to do backup.  I'd love to know why it "loses" my password every couple of days.

  • What does holding down the power button do?

I was having trouble with my OSX 10.4.10 upgrade. I held down the power button to force it to shut off. But when I pressed the power button, I held it down...It made this loud chime and the little light on the front of my MacBook flickered very rapidly.
What happened and did I mess something up?
    Thanks.

A normal power down goes through steps to shut down software. Holding down the power button bypasses those steps. Normally you hold down the power button only if all else fails -- the system won't respond to normal commands, so you can't pull down the apple menu and choose shutdown.
In most cases this "hard shutdown" isn't a big problem. However if you have files open in applications, a normal shutdown gives the applications a chance to save them. This won't. In a normal shutdown, the operating system makes sure to put the files on the hard disk into a consistent state. This bypasses that step.
In older operating system a hard shutdown could leave your hard disk in an inconsistent state, possibly losing files or directories. But recent versions of OS X have file systems that are carefully designed not to do that. So in fact a hard shutdown shouldn't cause any damage. But if you're in an application with a file open, you will lose the chance to save data.
I would try to avoid hard shutdowns, but in fact they shouldn't cause trouble.

  • Does it hurt the computer to be warm?

    Hi all.
I am using a black plastic MacBook from May or June 2008. It has a 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and 4 GB or RAM.
I have some software installed that makes very heavy use of my resources (averaging out at 80% of my CPU). It runs in the backround when I (the user) am inactive. After awhile, the computer gets very hot, and the fan become very loud. Here are the measurements after 10 minutes of running the software:
    CPU Temperature: 169℉
    Fan Speed: 6219 RPM
So, my question is really this: "Is it safe to let the computer be like this?" Will it eventually get to hot and shut down? Am I burning up the CPU? Am I breaking the fan? Am I doing anything to potentially harm the computer? If not, how much of this can the computer endure before it becomes harmful?
    Thanks in advance!
    Nate

The user is not expected to know at what temperature to stop using it. It will shut down before it will run out of spec.
I don't know if there are any published specs on how much quicker the HD will wear out when run as hot as you say you are but I am going to guess it won't last longer than two years. Mind you, that is nothing but a guess. I bas it on some of the older PowerBook Wallstreets that ran hot and their drives didn't last near as long as the same drives in some of the older powerbooks which ran cooler.
There is published data on how much LiIon battery life is shorted at various temperatures. I just say a web page of such a couple days ago but don't remember where so I cannot give you any numbers here either.

  • Does it hurt the 4s to use the Home button to power on?

My on/off button has stopped working on my 4s.  I can turn it on with the Home button.  Will this cause any problems?

See what they say, but they will probably offer a replacement 4S for $199...be sure to make a backup, in iCloud if you can, before going in.  If they say you need a replacement, and you buy It, they can restore your stuff from an iCloud backup while you wait.

  • Does it harm the battery if the macbook stays turned off for a few months?

I might be in a situation where I will not use my macbook for a few months. A family member may use it occasionally, but it would be turned off most of the time. Does this hurt the battery or other aspects of computer performance?

From the User Manual: "Storing your MacBook If you are going to store your MacBook for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (ideally, 71° F or 22° C) and discharge the battery to 50 percent. When storing your computer for longer than five months, discharge the battery to approximately 50 percent and then remove it from your MacBook. To maintain the capacity of the battery, recharge the battery to 50 percent every six months or so."
