Does iTunes have on demand streaming?

Does iTunes have music streaming on demand?

Thank you. I think with Spotify, for $25 per year, one can select and listen to any one particular song at any time.  That's what I meant by on-demand streaming.  Does iTunes have anything like that?

I replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy5 and I am not receiving all of my text messages now. The rep at the store told me to go to iTunes and take my phone # off of the account and that would fix the problem. Is that true? What does iTunes have to do with text messages anyway?

You need to remove your phone number from the iMessage system.

Why does itunes have me logging in multiple times to buy a song? I can access everything else fine, but now my account is disabled for some reason although my password was entered correctly... help

I've seen a couple of other threads over the last 10 minutes posting similar problems, so it appears to have affected other people as well - the poster on the first thread has now posted again saying that it's now working for him, so you could give it another try.
Edit : your reply appeared as I was attempting to post this

  • HT4335 Does Itunes have a solution for playing music in a business setting?

Does Itunes have a solutions for playing music in a business setting?  Can you play your downloaded music in a business-overhead speakers?

Presuming you are referring to the iTunes Store, tracks purchased from that service are for personal use only and are not licensed for use in any commercial setting. You will need to either find a commercial service to provide music (easiest by far, though perhaps not the cheapest), or buy the appropriate CDs and then obtain a license from the various rights clearinghouses for playback in commercial use.

  • Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?

Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?
I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.
    Back to DVDs.

  • Does iTunes have to be installed to use the shuffle in disk mode?

I have read through the string titled 'Ipod only recognized as "unknown device" '.
I have the same problem, however I ran into an issue where iTunes would not start so I uninstalled the program.
I was wondering, does iTunes have to be installed or running for the shuffle to operate in disk mode ot should the shuffle act as a normal jump drive regardless?

Also, I found this Apple article that relates http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303553. This is true for all Intel Macs, not just the Macbook Pro. It also confirms my earlier position, but is vague as to how much faster it is. Ideally, we'd all have 2 Gigs with paired 1 Gig modules.
A quick google search will reveal that the boost is fairly small, but noticable in situations where performance is limited by memory bandwidth. Keep in mind having less memory reduces performance signifcantly, if you run out of memory and more pageouts / virtual memory usage is required. Virtual Memory is orders of magnitude slower than regular memory, think Nanoseconds vs. Milliseconds.
So 1.25 Gigs might be better than 1 Gig for that reason, regardless of if its single-channel or dual-channel. It all depends on how you use computer, but like I said above, I'd just go for what's cheaper in this case.

  • Does iTunes have or is there an app to see beats while a song is playing?

Does iTunes have or is there an app to see beats while a song is playing?

Thank you, but both of those would be a financial overkill as well I believe (for an occasional once a year need).
I actually designed another flyer with a curved headline about 2 years ago, but saved it simply in a .jpg format (because it was emailed) and cannot remember how I actually did it! It opens now in Preview (default) and get info doesn't tell me which app was used to create it. I've already tried each and every app I have and it's driving me bananas.

  • Does iTunes have speaker balance controls?

I am experiencing the problem where the left speaker (or headphones) is much louder than the right speaker. I've already tried it on 3 different headphones, a surround sound system, and a Creative iTrigue and I still only get most of the sound out of the left side than the right.
What gives? Is it my hardware or the software?
    Thank you!

iTunes does not have balance controls.
Go to system Preferences>Sound>Output to set the balance.
If the setting has drifted from its own (like it did on my system), install balanced.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does iTunes have a default password for initial encrypted backups?

I have an iPhone that was connected to iTunes for the first time today.  It is a company device and IT has set a policy to require backups to be encrypted.
When I first plugged the phone in, iTunes automatically did a backup as it had never seen the device before.  Due to a software issue, Apple recommended that I do a restore to factory settings and then restore from backup, so once the initial backup was completed, I performed the restore to factory just fine.  However, when I attempted to restore from backup, I was prompted for a password even though I was never prompted for a password when iTunes created the backup.  I have tried every password I can think of including my company domain password, iTunes password, iPhone passcode, etc...etc...to no avail.
Does anyone know if there is some default password that iTunes using when doing an initial backup without prompting the user for a password?

I have the same problem when i updated to iOS6  3days ago from iOS5.1.1. I've tried every passwords i can think of but NO luck.

  • Does iTunes have a mind of its own?

I would like to preface this by saying that I do not want to see, hear, touch, taste, or smell iTunes unless I choose to open iTunes from the start menu. The one and only reason in the entire world that I even have it installed on any computer that I use is because my iPhone won't sync with anything else that i know of.
I have done everything I see to do to keep this program from opening by itself. I have turned off updates and perform them manually. I have all media file extensions set to open in Windows Media Player. WMP is set to be my default media player. According to all the options I see, iTunes should not be opening... but it does! All the time! When I open a move, the movie opens in WMP... 10 seconds after WMP opens, iTunes opens. What is it doing? Nothing. It opens and displays my library while WMP is still open playing the movie I chose. Furthermore, when I attempt to close it it pauses for some time before alerting me that "one or more applications is still using the scripting interface..."
    To summarize:
When I open a media file it opens in windows media player.
When windows media player opens iTunes opens.
iTunes does not close immediately because it claims something is using it's scripting interface.
I do not want itunes to open unless I open it.
What can I do to fix this?
Is there an alternative utility I can use to sync with my iPhone?
There are no plugins in iTunes, my phone is not attached to my system in these instances, itunes is up to date, windows media player is up to date, windows vista is up to date, and I don't appear to have any driver issues.

Not sure what you do in Vista, it might be the same as XP. click the start button, then open the run window. type msconfig.
Here you will find an interface where you can change what automatically starts on your computer. Be warned though, do not turn off items willy nilly or your computer might not boot correctly.
In the startup section you will see all sorts of programs that are started when you boot. From experience nearly all programs these days want to "own" your pc.
The installer programs want to make sure their program is used over others. If you look down the list you will see what iTunes stuff is loading, you can uncheck all of this as it is not necessary and only takes up RAM. iTunes will load perfectly well without this "assistance".
I would advise you to google up on the msconfig options and turn off most of the ones that programs run. Exceptions would be virus/malware scanners etc. Some common ones that run are Adobe stuff like acrobat reader, MS office assistance like fast find, also imaging software tends to do this. That's why you see icons appear in the system tray. Sometimes programs are run from the registry and are much harder to stop at start up.
In my view with so much RAM available these days it is totally unnecessary for programmers to do this.

  • Does iTunes use wireless music stream if using an Ethernet cable for AE?

    Hello,
I have been having trouble with airtunes for some time now. I've tried lots of different things without much success. I think there might be too many wireless networks in my building and I am getting a lot of interference. So i'm thinking of trying a wired method.
If I plugged an ethernet cable from the computer into the Airport Express (which is then plugged into the stereo), does airtunes still send the music stream wirelessly or would it use the ethernet cable instead?
    Thanks
    WP

    1. Will this work (i.e., add wireless to the office and maintain my existing wireless in my home)? If so, what do I need to do? Specifically, do I need to configure WDS and (if so) does 2Wire support this?
What you are attempting to do is actually called a "roaming" network in Apple terms and not WDS. In a roaming network, AirPort base stations are connected together on the same subnet of an Ethernet network. Each base station is setup as a bridge, but share the same network name (SSID) and encryption (if used). It sounds like it should be possible to setup the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a roaming network. The following is how it would be done with AirPort Extreme Base Stations:
    - Network configuration: DSL/Cable Modem or Internet Router > (Ethernet cable) > [WAN] AEBS1 [LAN] > (Ethernet cable) > [LAN] AEBS2 [LAN] > (Ethernet cable) > [LAN] AEBSn (Note: In your case, you will have a single AX, instead of multiple AEBSs.)
    - Setup the second AEBS, as a bridge. (Disable "Distribute IP addresses")
    - For each AEBS in the roaming network:
-- Connect to the same subnet of the Ethernet network
-- Provide a unique Base Station Name
-- The Network Name should be identical
-- If using security, use the same encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc.) and password.
-- Make sure that the channel is set at least three channels apart from the next AEBS.
    2. Assuming I can, can I have that same AX (i.e., the one connected vis-à-vis Ethernet cable) be used for wireless printing in the office while providing wireless internet? Any special configuration to allow that?
    Yes.
    3. If this network desire does not work, is there another set of hardware that I should purchase (i.e., a different wireless DSL modem, Airport Extreme, other???).
The configuration as you planned it should work...but, in case it doesn't, I'd recommend that you replace your current wireless router with an AEBS. You can then get either another AEBS or an AX to create the roaming network.

  • HT2731 mertz is curiois if music can only be purchased by the song or does iTunes have a monthly/unlimited type of thing?

im curious if music has to be puchased by the song or is there some sort of monthly pymnt per 100 songs or unlimited? i wish to start a catalogue of some music from several genres...help?

The iTunes Store only sells music by the song or by the album.  It does not offer subscriptions.
Emusic.com provides monthly subscriptions.  Their songs are in MP3 format, and are compatible with iTunes and all iDevices.
If you would like to try unlimited streaming rather than downloads, check out Spotify.

  • Does IE have a problem streaming radio through flash?

I made a radio player that plays different internet radio stations.  It works in firefox and Chrome but does not work in IE.   I have tried ony 2 computers. But both of them same thing.   Are there security restrictions in IE that the other browsers dont enforce?  Below is the code I use to play the sound.   Im thinking IE has a problem with ;stream.mp3
The source of the internet radio is not located on my server.

One of the streams actually does play in IE.  I just noticed.   Do you know why some streams would play and some would not in IE?  All the streams play in firefox and Chrome.

  • Does ITunes have adding one radio station to favorite list?

    same as topic

I tried the following from the article you recommeded:
Step 6: You needn’t rely on outfits like Shoutcast and Live365 for your iTunes streams. Some terrestrial and Internet radio stations offer .pls links from their homepages. You can also add stations if you have their streaming address—an address in the form of http://69.28.128.148:80/stream/radioioclassical_freehi.
With such an address in hand, choose Advanced > Open stream and add the address to the URL field.
Step 7: Once your stations are in the iTunes library you may wish to create new playlists that contain them—organized by all the stations you possess (create a Smart Playlist and use Kind Contains Audio Stream to grab them all) or by genre.
I tried pasting the following address:
    http://old-kdfc.bonnint.net/2006/broadband.ram
into the Open Stream field but nothing seems to have happened. It didn't show up in the library.
    iTunes doesn't make this easy.
