Does iTunes Match ignore duplicates?

I have been loading vinyls onto iTunes using EZ Vinyl Tape converter. I have sync'd OK until recently when problems encountered with EZ. However there are some tunes on laptop to sync. After using the iPod touch as a camera I now cannot sync.  The laptop thinks the iPod is a camera and does not initiate iTunes, instead the laptop gets a totally blank screen and I cannot do anything, not even switch it off. I have scanned laptop for bugs, viruses etc using norton. I am totally stuck now.

Does iTunes match need to locate the actual files or just see its record in your library database? I am currently traveling in US and I have US and Australian iTunes accounts. But all my music files are on a hard drive in Australia. Can I start using itunes music match while I am travelling without the actual music files attached to my itunes?

In your situation I strongly recommend you read over that KB article. The international iTunes Stores are not cross-compatible.
My understanding of how it would work is that when activating iTunes Match on your US Store account, any songs you have in your iTunes Library that were purchased from the AUS Store account will NOT be matched. As I understand it, those files will be uploaded (which means you need the files on a local HDD). I also do not think it is possible to have iTunes Match active on more than one store ID on the same computer. But since iTunes Match is not available internationally yet, that point is moot for the moment.
To be honest you might want to wait until the service is available internationally so you can guage how will it will serve you.

  • Does itunes check for duplicate purchases?

I got a new version of itunes and I cannot have my purchased next to my new purchases.  Does itunes check for duplicates? Or are they happy to take your money?

Maybe they will in a future update. Im not sure but I think they use to do this. IF they did Id say they stopped to make the record companys happy (And alittle richer)

Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set to "use cellular data" to ON. Be aware this will use your mobile data allotment when streaming music.

  • How detailed does iTunes Match scan?

Above mentioned question is meant in the following way.
I had many files converted to 320kbit/s already a few years ago. On some of them you can clearly hear that the quality is not that good, btw the CD had scratches and there are skips and so on.
Does iTunes Match also find out about a bad auditory quality even if the rate is 320kbit/s or does it just check what the rate is?
The question came up when I saw that iTunes searches for bad files and upgrades them to 256kbit/s, which is yet less than my rate.
    Thanks for any qualification.
    Rgds
    To

The quality of matched music is going to equal to that produced from a good CD rip whether its 256 Kbps or 320 Kbps. Most people will not be able to tell the difference.
If you have good 320 Kbps rip then you don't need to upgrade. If the tracks are matched, you will have access to your music on your iOS devices at 256 Kbps. Tracks uploaded will be as per original file - 320 kpbs will play as 320 kbps.
If you have tracks that have a bit rate lower than 256 Kbps and are match, you can delete original and download 256 Kbps version.
As mentioned in previous post, you are unlikely to get a match where the original has faults. If you do get a match, you can upgrade it to the matched version.

  • Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

My problem is similar.  It began right after I allowed an Adobe update to run.  (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 is recorded in my Registry.) Now every single website I try to open triggers a window (see below) and repeats many times.
It makes no difference whether I "Allow" or not.  I think it runs this window for every flash object on that website.  It is occurring while I enter this post!
It makes using the Internet MOST challenging.  Surely this is causing major problems for everyone.
I have IE8 on Windows Vista.
Here's the text from the message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.
This program will open outside of Protected Mode. Internet Explorer's Protected Mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.
    Name:  Adobe Flash Player
    Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
(Checkbox) Do not show me the warning for this program again.
    buttons:  Allow         Do Not Allow"
Should I appeal to Microsoft or Adobe for a solution?  Is is possible to install the previous version?
    Thanks for any wisdom.

  • How does Itunes Match work?

If I subscribe, does ITunes Match suck all of my songs off of my Imac and take them to the cloud, update them and return them to my hard drive - can I get the improved quality stuff back on my hard drive to replace the "inferior" stuff or does it stay in the cloud?
Next question - I have a bunch of songs in ITunes, more in a Music folder, and more in a downloads folder. I assume they should all be in ITunes to use ITunes match the best way. How do I get them out of the other folders into ITunes? Where should songs be on the computer (LION 10.75).

    First, Thanks.
So I couldget all of my musc into Itunes (still not sure how) including the music on my IPOD, transfer it by Match to the cloud.
To add music to iTunes either simply drag-n-drop it, or pull down File > Add to Library. For music that is only on an iPod see this user tip: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
    Rick Carlton wrote:
Then could I download them all to a seperate folder, throw away the older stuff, somehow transfer the new stuff back into ITunes, and have all new stuff on my HD and Time Machine Back-up?
There is no downloading, moving or "transfering" required. Everything is done directly in iTunes. Time Machine will then backup everything on the internal HDD.

One more question - if they go to the cloud, do they sta there so my wife's Ipad and Iphone can play them?
You wife will have to be logged into your iTunes Store account to access iTunes Match.

How does itunes match sync playlists between my computer, ipad and ipod?

It will tell you that the library exceeds the limit and will not proceed. So if you have more than the 25k limit (and keep in mind that iTunes Store purchases do not count against this limit) the only way you can use iTM is to move some music out of the library to get under the limit before signing up for the service.

    Hello Karen,
Yes, enabling iTunes Match the current music library on the phone will be deleted.
From: iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
The music is stored on the cloud and streamed to your device unless you choose to download it on the phone.
Here is some additional info on how it works:

    All the very best,

  • HT4914 Does  itunes match store video ??

Does itunes match allow you to store video and games downloaded from App Store in icloud ??

Sorry but iTunes Match does not cover music videos. It has something to do with the agreement between Apple and the music record companies. I hope this answered your question.

  • Why does iTunes match start over and over and over throughout a day?

iTunes Match not only restarts and re-does its magic from the ground up after "completing" its tasks Every Single Time I Open iTunes, but when it chooses to start it all over again, it redirects the dominant window to itself. In other words, when iTunes Match decides to start up YET AGAIN, it pulls me from whatever view of iTunes I may be looking at and features itself, announcing to me and the world that it has opted to begin analyzing my library yet one more time. Oh yes, iTunes Match, good for you, and thanks - however, I cannot get back to whatever view or organization I was just working in (say under the heading "Songs") because my iTunes program isn't equipped to get me back to where it just Yanked Me From For No Good Reason.
I am a lifelong Mac user and Mac afficionado who is trying to keep the faith using a Late 2010 15" MacBook Pro, but ever since I decided to go all-in on the service formerly known as MobileMe it seems my Mac experience has been degrading progressively. iTunes Match, with it's constant re-starts, interrupted playback, inexplicably greyed-out and unplayable tracks and flat-out crashes, is nothing like what my Mac experience used to be. It's disappointing, and it's no advertisement for iTunes Radio.
Currently considering whether to re-up iTunes Match or simply use a hard drive and forget about it for good.

Hi Jim, thanks for the response. In answer to your questions,
    - I do not sign out of Match prior to closing iTunes
    - The Match process seems to be ongoing at intervals throughout the given day and while it's not in the "background" as I wish it was, I try not to pay attention to what it's doing. Therefore I would need to guess that there are many, many times I close iTunes when the "current" Match process is underway and not complete.
    - Yes, thanks for asking about the "Waiting" tracks. Yes, there are many and they remain as "Waiting" even after Match tells me its work here is through.
    - My internet connection varies, currently 7.59 down / 22.81 up.

  • Why does itunes match delete all songs from my iPhone leaving me music less in the mountains! :(

i went through a drive through the mountains recently needless to say with out radio, only sourse of music... my precious iphone. well aparently after i had subscribed to itunes match it felt the need to go behind my back and delete all the songs i had previously on my phone! *** apple? i had to do an emergency pull over and yank out my macbook and when i pluged it in sure as could be no music stored on the phone so i was apparently streaming music chewing up a huge chunk of my data in little over two hours!i had to shut off itunes match on the macbook and the iphone and sync again just to get some music!!!
There has to have a solution!! why did it do this? Did anybody else have similiar issues?

I have the same problem and I'm not sure this addresses it.  I want to subscribe to iTunes match using my Mac; the intention being that I can then remove all the subset of my tunes from the ipad mini, and when travelling listen to music on the iPad mini via iTunes Match.
So the question still remains, does the music stored on my iPad mini get automatically removed when i subscribe to iTunes Match, or do I have to remove it??
Also, my iPad mini is showing that 1.8GB of storage is taken up by music at the moment, will all of this be freed if I subscribe to iTunes match and delete the music (irrespective of whether this is done manually or via an automatic delete).
    Thank you

  • Why can't I play purchased movies on my Apple TV? And why does iTunes match not work on my Apple TV?

I have an Apple TV (early 2012) and bought some movies in the iTunes store. Now, Apple TV doesn't let me watch my purchased content. I very well can listen to music I have bought in the iTunes store and watch the purchased movies on my iphone 6 (running the latest iOS 8) and on my MacBook Air (running the latest version of Yosemite). I can also rent movies on Apple TV and watch them - no problem at all.
The other problem I have is that I activated iTunes Match on my Apple TV. But it doesn't work either. On my Mac and on my iphone - there's no problem. On Apple TV instead there is always appearing the message, that it will take a couple of minutes to setup iTunes Match  on Apple TV. Well... that is too nice to be true! It takes hours and even after that it doesn't work at all.
I checked the forums and tried different things:
    1. Updating my Apple TV's software to the latest release
    2. Restoring all settings of my Apple TV and taking it offline (meaning: logging out of iTunes on Apple TV and taking it off power)
    3. Restarting my modem and router after half a minute break and taking it off power.
    4. Setting up Apple TV again and reconnecting it with iTunes and my WLAN-router.
    5. I also wanted to Airplay the screen of my MAC or iphone to Apple TV -> doesn't work (even though I can watch the movies on this two devices without any problems). Other content can be airplayed to Apple TV without any problems as well.
    -> Nothing seems to work!
When I tried to play the moves the following to messages appear:
    1. iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later. (But Apple TV recognizes how much of the movie has been watched already. It indicates that it is connecting and authorizing... and after that the message above appears). OR
    2. Apple TV says that the movie will be ready to be watched in two hours from now... or that you have to chose a lower resolution, if you want to watch it any sooner.
Does anyone face the same difficulties? And of course: Does anyone know any cure and salvation for my Apple TV? ;-)
Thanks so much for your assistance!

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"
It's an issue with Apple and we're awaiting an update re this
I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!
