Does iTunes sync to iPod?

Does iTunes sync to iPod? or visa versa. I always thought whatever was on iTunes was downloaded to iPod but since I am missing songs I wonder if the reverse is true? I can't find any documentation that says which way it goes. Also, will my voice memos update itunes from my ipod or visa versa.

It's a one way road from iTunes to iPod.
Set the desired type of updating (sync) inPreferences>iPod.
Some third party apps. can transfer songs from iPod to iTunes.
Do a Google search for Senuti or iPodRip to find them.

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

Wow .... so you are syncing via WiFi when you sync .... would that be correct?
I would still quit iTunes and then restart and see what happens. The iPad and iTunes must be playing some weird games.
If you do sync via WiFi (I do), I think you are better off closing iTunes when you are done - unless of course you are using iTunes for Home Sharing or something like that. My experience is that if you leave iTunes running, the iPad and iTunes just start sending weird signals back and forth.
Since I started Wifi syncing, I have seen messages in iTunes that made absolutely no sense at all. Anyway, that's my take on it. If you do not WiFi sync, then I have no clue why you are getting these messages.

  • Adding CD music to Itunes - does not sync to ipod touch 5 gen

Windows 7PC. Easy to add the music from a CD to Itunes.
But, then when I sync itunes to Ipod, music does not export to Ipod.
Must be a setting that is not right?
Have to reload them all again?

"Across the top, there is Summary, Apps, MUSIC- Click on Music"
Yes, those are the sync settings that I referred to in my answer.
"Make sure the (check mark) is sync music, click on entire music library"
This option works fine for small music libraries. When it gets bigger, it won't fit on the iPhone. At that point simply switch to more selective syncing.

  • ITunes does not sync my iPod?

Hello. Tonight I plugged my iPod nano into my laptop and waiting for my iPod to sync in my iTunes library, but my iTunes library never opened up and my iPod did not display the "syncing" dialogue on the screen.
Is there anything I can do to fix this so I can sync my iPod? I last synced it about a week ago and am not sure why it isn't working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Jackie
(p.s. I also posted this question in the iTunes category as well because I wasn't sure which it fit best into).

I am having the same issue,
But I have found a temporary fix.
When your iPod shows up in iTunes, but doesn't sync, you press the "restore" button.
The dialog will pop up, asking if you really want to restore your iPod, But dont press anything. If you look in the background of the dialog, iTunes is syncing your iPod with your library.
It gets annoying though when you have to do that to sync your iPod successfully.
Does anyone know the fix to this problem?

  • ITunes 7.1 does not sync with ipod in windows vista

I have windows vista ultimate. I downloaded itunes 7 and I was able to transfer the songs from itunes to my ipod. But when I downloaded the updated version of itunes (that is version 7.1) the computer as well as itunes recognises my ipod but it would not transfer the new songs I imported on itunes into my ipod.
I unistalled itunes and reinstalled it but still facing the same problem, I also reset my ipod but songs would just not transfer from itunes to my ipod. Can anyone advice me on what to do or is it a problem with itunes 7.1 that apple is working on fixing ?

I found the answer.....the problem was with the ipod....just had to restore the ipod and all was fine after that

  • Why does Itunes sync my purchase transfers to the wrong hard drive?

I'm running windows 7 with a 64gb SSD boot drive and 1tb data drive. My boot drive is almost completely full. I installed itunes on my data drive and set the preferences to sync media to the data drive as well. I plug in my old ipod to tranfer purchases before an update. The tranfer never finished because it synced all of the data to my boot drive and now my boot drive is completely full and the data is nowhere to be found. I recently had the same problem with it syncing an iphone backup to the same drive, but I found a work around for that. Why does Itunes instist on loading stuff on the boot drive? How can I redirect it? This is simple preferences that should be available to change, but simply aren't.

  • Album artwork does not sync to iPod

I am hoping somebody has encountered the same and has a solution to the following issue:
I successfully had iTunes 7 automatically download the album artwork for most of the titles in my collection (i.e. those that appear in the iTunes music store). These were all ripped CDs, not purchased songs. I can see the album artwork in iTunes just fine.
However, when I sync my iPod, none of the art is transferred to my device. The only workaround seems to be making a change to the tags - forcing iTunes to recognize the files have changed. However in doing this, it seems my iPod is getting bloated by 1-2MB of artwork files per album. That seems like a lot. Furthermore, re-syncing all 40GB of music with tag changes will take a long time.
Does anybody have a solution as to why the auto-downloaded cover art is not automatically being transferred to my iPod, and in a space-efficient manner?
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem, and the suggestions here didn't work (other posters have made similar suggestions). Not sure if it's relevant, but all my iPod artwork is manually entered via the "Get Info" function. I didn't have this problem before iTunes 7.

  • How itunes syncs with ipod?

I have preaching in itunes that I want to sync with my ipod. It does the sync but everything is backwards. Meaning, in itunes, 1 sermon has 6 chapters and it starts at 1 and goes to 6 in the correct order. When I sync with my ipod, it syncs backwards, starting with chapter 6, then 5, then 4, etc.
How do I sync from itunes to my ipod so that it looks identical to what I see in itunes?

    Hey there,
Under the +Get Info+ Info tab, are there track numbers associated with these? If there aren't, you could number them appropriately and that could fix your problem.
To do this just right click the sermon track and right->click +Get Info+ and then head over to the Info tab and assign a track number accordingly. If they still sync backwards, try reversing the order. Hope this helps.

  • Why does iTunes use an iPod Photo Cache at all?

    Hi,
When iTunes is used to synchronize photos to a device, it creates an "iPod Photo Cache" folder.  Why does this folder even exist?
For users that have multiple devices with multiple resolutions (e.g., iPad 3rd Generation, iPad Mini, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3G), the iPod Photo Cache is grow to approximately four times the original size of the photo.  If I have 15 GBs of photos and a 250 GB hard drive, then the combined usage of 75 GBs (15 GB photos + 60 GB cache) is extremely unreasonble.
Device resolutions change often enough (these days) such that having multiple devices is probably more common than having more than one of a single product.  iTunes should be designed to do the real-time conversion (which it already does), but not save it to the hard drive.
Also allowing the ability to change the location of the "iPod Photo Cache" folder would help many users, but not myself since I do not have an external drive.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thank you for your response. I should have clarified. When trying to delete from the library, it gives me the option to delete them from the computer or just from the library. I choose not to delete them from the computer, just the library. As a result, I would not expect the deletions to free up room on the hard drive, but I don't see how it actually increases the space used up on the hard drive. If I delete a song from the library, but not the computer, does iTunes save the song again someplace else (such that there are now two copies of the song somewhere on the system)? That seems to be the only explanation for why the free space on my hard drive would decrease after deleting a song from the library.

  • 'Last Played' date does not sync from ipod to itunes

Hi, I've looked through the forums and can't find an answer to this, but apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.
I'm using itunes 7 with Windows XP and a 20gb 3rd gen ipod. I have a number of smart playlists which are based on the date songs were last played, but recently this hasn't been updated from ipod to itunes. It used to - I'm not sure if the problem has been since I updated to itunes 7 or not, but it might be. Weirdly, the play count - IS updated, so itunes knows that I played the song on my ipod, it just doesn't know when!!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    David

  • Having issues with iTunes sync to iPod (5th gen)

Ok this is something that is getting rather annoying.
Every once in a while. When sync anything to my iPod from iTunes. Sometimes iTunes will hang up. Then sync icon on my iPod does show up and spinning.
However nothing gets sync to the iPod. I then have to close out iTunes. Then restart iTunes. And everything seems to work for a while.
I to have the current version of iTunes (11.0.4.4.)
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I do have the 64-bit version of iTunes installed.
I have tried to restart my iPod several times. I don't think that this should have to be done all the time one of the other is not sync. Besides. It don't resolve the issue.
The iPod has a fully charged battery.
I have tried different USB ports. Same issue still exists.
I tired to restart my computer when the issues happens. Again it still happens.
I have completely uninstall iTunes and then reinstall iTunes back. Nothing has changed.
I have shut down all 3rd party software. Sync issues still happen.
I have tied on different computers I have in the house. The issues does happen. Not as often.
So there it is. I hope someone can shed some light on this issue.

  • HT1386 icloud messes up itunes sync on ipod

Since using icloud, my ipod no longer appears in itunes as a device. How can I repair this? Certains apps (e.g., Goodreader) don't work without itunes.

    Guess what?
I disconnected icloud since there was no way to stop my shortcuts from "mis-synching", and my phone call with the apple tech support left me even more frustrated as the support person obviously did not understand what I was talking about at all.
I Should be able to use my shortcuts as I wanted to. Or so I thought.
EVerything was fine for 4 days.
until I had to restart my phone today (double press home button stopped working for the 3rd time, but that was a whole other irritating iphone6 malfunction altogether).
All the keyboard shortcuts (old deleted/new/duplicates) pops up again.
AND MY ICLOUD WAS OFF THE WHOLE TIME!
It's either a cache problem within my phone itself or Apple connects to our phones to sync stuff even if icloud is off.
I don't know. I'm so sick of this and Apple. Not even sure if a hard reset would solve the problem.

  • Itunes syncing my ipod fast

Today my ipod touch has a problem. My ipod has started syncing way too fast, to the point that it won't sync songs or pictures. I repeat the process and it continues to do the same thing. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I think the problem is that if you have songs that are not in the itunes folder and they are in the root music folder in vista these are the songs that still have the WinXP file path for the songs listed in itunes. All my songs in the that folder had the WinXP file path. I changed them to AAC format and it put them in the itunes folder and they now have the right file path and that solved the write access error that I was having. I was able to upload all my songs after that.
