Does KDL60R510A have 60hz or 120hz refresh rate?

Hi everyone!  This TV is in the Black Friday ad on page 5 - SKU 8548083.  The Best Buy website, as well as a competing retailer, list this TV at 120hz refresh rate.  Sony's website along with a separate competing retailer list at just 60hz.  I'm looking for a new TV this holiday season but I need clarification on this before I can make a decision.  Anyone have additional info on that??  Thanks!

I know those advertisements are inconsistent and confusing. The TV has a "Native" refresh rate of 60hz as most TV's sold in america do. That set has the "Motionflow™ Technology : Motionflow XR 240" which quadruples the refresh rate internally to 240hz. So the answer to your question is that it has a 240hz refresh rate.

    There's no bar that says file, tools, view, (other?) OR URL box, reload button or back/forward buttons, so I can't even do some of the things people are suggesting, like run in safe mode. This requires using the file button. The suggestions I'm getting all require using the bar that I don't have. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox to see if it would change, but it didn't.     Why does this article provide lots of useful information EXCEPT the piece I want?  It does not show what resolutions and refresh rates the MacBook Pro supports over Displayport:

    I've heard it only supports 4k at 30 Hz.  Is this true?

    For some reason Displays no longer shows that information, so I don't know what it is. However, the last time I saw the information on a 2009 MBP it was 75.
    I'd think there is a utility around that might provide the info like Display Maestro 1.1.7 or SwitchResX.

  • How Can I change my refresh rate to 75hz for on LCD using 91.47 drivers?

    I use a 19" LCD and have always changed my refresh rate to 75hz to avoid ghosting in games like fifa 06 (60hz causes a nasty ghost on my 8ms panel).  I have been using the 81.98 drivers and could create an override to use 75.   The new driver will allow me to change the refresh rate to 75, but will not let me use it - I get the message "The custom resolution cannot be added".   I have coolbits2 installed.  Is there a registry setting that I can add to allow me to change the refresh rate?  If not, I'll just go back to the 81.98.  I am also using the DVI connection.

    I know that on my particular LCD monitor, if I go above the recommended rates, then the screen will just go black and won't let me see anything.  Usually it displays a message telling me that it cannot display.  I think it especially does this with the DVI connection.
    You may have tried it allready, but just make sure that in your display properties you have unchecked the option to only display resolutions allowed by the monitor.
    You may also want to try and see if it will let you do it with a VGA connection instead of the DVI.
    Otherwise, you just may have to go back to the earlier driver.

    I have noticed that on some Toshiba notebooks the screen refresh rate is fixed on 60 Hz.
    The display refresh rate is not important on the notebook screens.
    TFT matrix doesn't have such thing as refresh rate. It doesn't blink.
    TFT like all other LCD screens doesn't have refresh rate parameter, only reaction time.

    Ps: As far as I know the AGP port is not available.

  • Set permanent monitor refresh rate without xorg.conf

    Came back to archlinux, made a clean install with gnome 3. Found out that my GDM and Gnome monitor refresh rate is wrong. For GDM I solved it by adding   xrandr -s 1024x768 -r 85 to the gdm init script. Maybe it's ugly, but at least working. I've got no xorg.conf and I don't want to create it only because of this problem. Using GUI screen settings in System preferences I managed only to set permanently correct resolution (1024x768) but the refresh rate cannot be changed there, so every time I boot now I have correct resolution and refresh rate for GDM, but after login I have 1024x768@60 only, so I have to manually issue   'xrandr -r 85' every time I login. Can I fix it without creating xorg.conf file under /etc/X11? What I already tried was creating the config file under  /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/  and set proper resolution and refresh rate there, but it didn't help. If someone has advice or idea, i will be very grateful. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Refresh rate going to 60Hz when leaving fullscreen games

    i am using nvidia blob drivers on a single monitor setup - they're working fine except that often (always?) when i am leaving openGL fullscreen game, the refresh rate defaults to 60 (from 75 Hz). anyone knows how to fix this? thanks, jose

    this is actually a very good question. i used to have this connected via vga because of second monitor on dvi in my past multiheaded setup but now that i got rid of it.. i completely forgot about using vga. i switched to dvi now and i think the situation is now better - will need to test a few games though. this is how xrandr output looks now:

  • What refresh rates does the Macbook Pro 2011 support? (Internal Display)

    While I know you used to be able to change the refresh rate via General Settings, now you have to use an app or probably something terminal related.
    Ignoring this, I just got a new 2011 MBP when my old one couldn't be fixed and after having the display/resolution upgraded I noticed that, when scrolling webpages, there is a bit of... I dunno, ghosting or something? Nothing that indicates there is a problem with the display or card, but it's something that could probably be fixed by a stronger refresh rate.
    So my question is as the subject states. What is supported? I read 60 and 75 is typical for Apple, but I want confirmation. Remember, internal display, not external.

  • Does my TFTs refresh rate matter?

    Hello everyone!
    I've been an Arch Linux user for a few hours now and have got it running quite nicely. I love Arch   I've configured my soundcard and installed GNOME. All works fine, however I can't change the refresh rate of my screen which is set to 50 herz.
    I've got a Hanns G HW191D which is a TFT screen. So here's my question:
    Is 50 herz enough (Someone told me the refresh rate doesn't matter if you have a TFT screen) or should I find a way of increasing it?

    So true.. I always check my monitor's OSD menu to check the refresh rates (be it CRT or LCD).  Why let the software tell you when the monitor knows for sure

    Run the application 'Terminal.app' which you will find in '/Applications/Utilities' on your Macintosh.
    Type this into it: defaults delete com.apple.configurator PreprationSavedPolicyDefaultsKey
    Hit the return key.
    If you get no error message, it worked, and you can quit the app.

  • Second monitor has a 50Hz refresh rate; my mac's lowest output is 60. What can I do?

    I'm trying to get my 13" Late-2011 macbook pro to work with either of two second monitors so I can use logic more easily. One's a DELL thing with a screen res of 1280x1024 (though does work on some higher res') which I had working yesterday till I accidentally knocked the adaptor the slightest bit and now I can't make the second screen stay on for more than a few seconds whatever settings I try. Usually the monitor is on (ie not in power save mode) but just displaying nothing, and my mac behaves as if the second monitor is there.
    The other one's a Toshiba 20WLT56B Tv with VGA input. The prob with this one is that it's refresh rate is 50Hz and the lowest option I have for my mac is 60Hz. Is there any way to allow me to output at 50Hz instead?

    Does the rMBP 13" Mid2014 HDMI connection allow 3840x2160 resolution?
    Support article: HT6008 says it should for this model.
    You can use 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs at the following resolutions and refresh rates via the built-in HDMI port.
    3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz refresh rate
    4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz refresh rate (mirroring is not supported at this resolution)
    I have it directly connected to my HDTV via HDMI cable and selected 24hz as I know it does not support 60hz.
    Only offers 1080p....
    I tried a miniDP to HDMI adapter and that did not work and it used to. I think this adapter may not support 4k or be an active adapter.
    Just ordered an active adapter that should work, but I am believe it should work through HDMI port on this unit based on HT6008 article.

    I upped the log verbosity on Xorg and checked the Xorg.0.log file. I found some interesting things.
    First, I found this line:
    (II) I810(0): Will use BIOS call 0x5f05 to set refresh rates for CRTs.
    Later on, I found these:
    (WW) I810(0): Extended BIOS function 0x5f05 not supported.
    (II) I810(0): BIOS call 0x5f05 not supported, setting refresh with VBE 3 method.
    (WW) I810(0): Set VBE Mode rejected this modeline.
    Trying standard mode instead!
    Presumably, "standard mode" is an eye-watering 60Hz.
    This is on a Dell Optiplex GX260 with BIOS revision A09. The video chipset is an onboard Intel 82845 and the driver is Xorg's i810.
    Everything works fine with Sun's X server. I get a nice 87Hz refresh at 1024x768. I'm surprised that Xorg can't set the refresh on this machine. It's listed as Test Suite Level 2 certified in the HCL. Unless somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong here, I'm going to post this incompatibility as a comment on the HCL.

    Hi!
    (I posted this in the newbie section too, but this is maybe the most appropriate place??)
    I've set up my computer as a media center using Freevo. As the main media player in Freevo I use Mplayer. The setup is working beautifully, but I'm getting some judder and it's a bit annoying. It's most noticable during bright, fast moving scenes.
    So I've been trying to figure out how to remedy this, but it's harder than I thought. My setup is the following:
    AMD 4200+ dual core, 2 gigs ram, Nvidia 7800GTX, 24" LCD and Pioneer LX508D plasma TV, and I'm using CoreAVC as decoder (amazing piece of software )
    When I bought the 24" screen for my computer the sales guy (using windows) forced the resolution to 1920x1080. It looked a bit stretched, but if I could do this in Linux I'd avoid having parts of the picture missing on my TV. Now I have to use 1920x1200 resolution as main X session and since my TV is 1920x1080 parts of the desktop is out of view on my TV. This isn't too big of a deal though cause when playing movies they come out in 1920x1080. It'd be nice though to get the correct aspect ratio between my pc screen and my TV (I've been trying to use Twinview and clone, but it's impossible to use 1920x1200 on the 24" and 1920x1080 on the TV at the same time). I've tried to force my pc screen to use 1920x1080 (since it worked in windows it's supposed to be possible), but when I enable it through xorg.conf the screen goes blank. Using nvidia-settings doesn't give me the option of using 1920x1080 on the 24" at all.
    So what I'm hoping to be able to do is to force the computer screen to use 1920x1080 and a refresh rate of 72Hz. This should eliminate alot of the judder and at the same time I won't have to use the "PC mode" on my TV (PC mode restrict the Hz to max 60Hz). Hopefully the TV will accept the 1920x1080 72Hz as any input and let me use the normal input (and then be able to use 72Hz... or 96Hz for that matter).
    Anyone know how I might be able to do that? I'd really appreciate any help at all since this is the only thing that's not perfect with my setup.

    Ok, I tried to change the xorg.conf file to 72Hz on the TV and it when black again. This is what the xorg.0.log shows:

    I read somewhere that the TV is supposed to be able to show 1080p in 72Hz. But when I try that it goes blank. Maybe it has something to do with the monitor being 1920x1200 and the TV 1920x1080. The monitor won't accept 1920x1080 as resolution so I guess that can only be done in Windows...
