Does Keynote have an equivalent 'viewer' like  Powerpoint viewer?  How can I share my Keynote files with other non-Keynote folks?

As of July 31, 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.
Now use iCloud instead: http://www.apple.com/icloud/
However, you must have an Apple device to create an iCloud account so Windows only users need to get to one before accessing your files.

  • Pages Viewer, like PowerPoint Viewer

I'd like to be able to create a presentation with Pages and save it to CD.
Is there a Windows based Pages Viewer, like PowerPoint Viewer, that I could add to the CD to view the presentation on a Windows machine?
    Thanks.
    G4 PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hello TomMoran,
why don't you use Keynote for the presentation, because it is made for that purpose?
You can export a Pages document to PDF and that Windows user can watch with the Acrobat Reader. Pages documents can only be read with Pages on Macs. With Keynote you can export simple presentations to Powerpoint files so Windows user can watch the presentation as that. And more general you can export a Keynote file to a (clickable = interactive) QuickTime movie, so all can watch it, because the QuickTime player is free for Mac and for Windows.

  • Does Keynote have anything analogous to PPS (PowerPoint Show)?

I'm the lone Mac operator in a company of 200 which utilizes PowerPoint extensively...Love Keynote and prefer to use it to create necessary presentations, but these need to be shared and exporting to PowerPoint results in transition and type screw-ups. Does anyone know if there is now (or under development) something akin to exporting to PowerPoint Show, a multi-platform (including Windows) self-executable file?

If the presentations do not need to be edited, your best cross-platform option is to convert them to QuickTime movies.

  • Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

With online layout you can have the page of your document fill up as much of the screen as you want while being able to zoom the viewing of your text or words to any percentage you want. In pages, I can zoom or stretch the document to fit the full width of the screen, but the view the actual text or words themselves correspondingly enlarges as well.

  • Does Keynote have a "fit show to music" option?

    Dear Apple Community,
When creating slideshows in iPhoto, one can use the "fit show to music."  Does Keynote have a similiar feature?
    Thanks,

Keynote has never had this feature.
You can edit the sound file start and end points:
select the file then:     Inspector > Format > Audio > Edit Audio
drag the trim handles to obtain the duration you want

  • Does Muse have the equivalent of a table?

I need to create a grid (with borders) of pictures and text, just like the old html tables.  Does Muse have a widget or feature that creates the equivalent of a simple table?  I would like to be able to specify the number of rows and columns and get the equivalent of a table.  I would prefer to avoid doing this one div cell at a time or via html.  Is there anything built into Muse to do this?  If not, what is the best design alternative?

You will probably do better asking in the Muse forum here:

just out of curiosity: how did you see this without buying the app - is there some general way to get a trial from the App Store?
When You view the features of the app in the app store, there are pictures of some of the different screens under the main description of the app. I swiped through the pictures and the fourth photo shows a screen - An image in the black box pointing to the image name - roots.jpg. In the window to the right - it says -Action - at the top - in the grey border. I wouldn't have known that the arrow didn't give the same functionality as it does when you open the PDF in Mail. But I was able to see the trash can, the curved arrow and the blue done button on the right. I never heard of the app until we started to posting. Unless the app specifies that there is a free trial period, there is no way that I know to try an app for free.
The thing that I find odd is that you say the arrow is greyed out making that feature unavailable. That arrow icon on the iPad in Safari or Mail is what directs you to the options for - open in, print, email, etc features on the iPad. I assume that arrow must have some functionality somewhere in the app. Not sure why it is greyed out. But I stress, I know nothing about the features of the app or what it is designed to do.

  • I want to download digital stamps but would need to change the size to fit my project. Does keynote have the ability to change picture size?

I'm trying to find a app that will allow me to change the size of a digital stamp. I have heard that Adobe Photoshop will allow me to do this but that is outside of my price range right now. Would Keynote allow me to do this?

sorry the website went down for maintenance during my last reply.
Yes Keynote will work OK as a print application for standard image formats;  TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PICT
Drag and drop as many graphics as you want on to a page.
Disply the ruler;   view menu > ruler
Go into  Keynote menu > Preferences   and set the Ruler to inches or centimeters
you can then drag a guide line out from the ruler to help size the graphic to the measurement you want
ruler set to inches to measure a 5" x 3" box

  • Does JDBC have an equivalent to the ADO GetRows method?

In ADO you can retreive multiple rows at a time use the GetRows method. Is there any way with JDBC to retrieve multiple rows at a time?

Well, the exact specifics of how the driver works are a little beyond my vision, but here's how I understand it. A stream is like a pipeline. When you make the query the databases begins pushing rows onto the pipeline at a predetermined rate (ie. n at a time).
As long as you keep reading them with next(), the database keeps pushing more on until there are none left, or until you stop reading them. I think this is the premise behind the traditional database cursor as well. You didn't get the million, you got the first few of the million.
The efficiency comes because if you get what you need after say twelve rows, you stop calling next. Without calling next, the database stops pushing more "reads" into the pipeline (or stream). This is why its nice to close the result set if you are done with it... it tells the database to stop sitting there waiting to push more rows along the stream.
ADO does force the database to read all million. JDBC starts reading the million, and if you're done after twelve then the database only read twelve ...plus a few extra left on the stream ... but certainly nowhere near the whole million. Make sense? This is why Oracle, for instance, cannot tell you how many rows are held in a table unless you force it using the count aggregate. Oracle says "if you wanna know ...count em yourself!"
I hope I have the concepts right here... anyone else is welcome to add their input.

  • Does keynote have Trade Gothic font?

I need to do a presentation on the font Trade Gothic. Only problem is I can't find the font in PowerPoint or InDesign. How about Keynote?

If the fon't isn't on your computer then keynote won't have it. All applications use the same font list. If you want a copy of trade gothic you'll have to pay I'm afraid. There two versions, one by Adobe, one by linotype. I don't know which one you want but they are available here http://www.myfonts.com/search/%28trade+gothic%29/fonts/

  • Does LR have a 'V' cycle like Aperture?

As I try to transition from Apple Aperture to LR 4 full time, there's one thing I really miss from Aperture:
the ability to cycle through views - from full sized single image to the project I'm in to the filmstrip view.
In Aperture, I hit 'v' and get the three different views.
Unless I've overlooked some easy command, there doesn't seem to be an ability or shortcut to accomplish this.
If there is - I'd really appreciate your help.
    Thank you.

Personally I'm making the switch to lightroom in the name (and not for political, but practical reasons) of platform agnosticism.
Functionality-wise one of the big ah-ha shortcut finds for me was TAB (widens viewing space by hiding side pallettes) and COMMAND-TAB which hides all the pallettes side and horizontal. Up until then I was wondering how to really get the "full screen" functionality going. I also like the fact  that LR in the library lets you use the "L" key to make the background darker e.g. "turning the lights out."
I really used to like Aperture, but I'm definitely moving away from all Apple-only products. The destruction of Final Cut Pro was really a wake up call in terms of making me realize how trapped I was being tied to one platform. That and the dearth of flexibility in terms of affordable and powerful desktops. But I digress. Hope this helps. -Benjamin
