Alas I don't see that option — having said that I looked at mime types and legacy encoders and nada, but oddly when I went to check the QT version (7.6 by the way) in the "About Quicktime" (accessed via the *System Preferences*) it cycles thru various codecs and "Macromedia Flash Player" is one of them... guess it doesn't access anymore. :o(

  • Unable to import MS PowerPoint slides Captivate 6 on Mac

I have an existing project which I imported two PowerPoint slides into without a problem. I then made changes to the slides in PowerPoint, and when I went to re-import to Captivate, I get this pop-up message:
This is on Mac OS X 10.8.3. I open the same project/PowerPoint presentation on Windows 7, and I am able to import without a problem. The only thing I can think that has changed on the Mac platform is a recent update to the Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac.
    Is this a known issue?
    Thanks.

Sorry to pop in, but was looking at the first screenshot: the chosen resolution is probably not the native resolution of your PPT, moreover you unchecked 'maintain aspect ratio'. Did you ever try to import the PPT at its native resolution, or at least when choosing another to keep the width/height ratio the same? Personally I would not recommend to create a project with another resolution. One of the features that is to me the most annoying in PPT (I avoid using it) is that you have to define the size in a print measuring unit like in or cm (in my case) which is totally crazy for an application that aims at presentations that will be given on a screen where the unit is always pixels. Captivate will translate the PPT-resolution to pixels and propose it, is there a reason why you don't want to use that? If necessary you can always rescale the project in Captivate later on (not recommended neither because of the quality loss).

  • Does Keynote Import Flash SWF Files?

    Hello,
I do a lot of presentations and I often need to import Flash SWF files and play them inside my presentation. I currently do this on Windows with PowerPoint.
Does Keynote '09 import Flash SWF files?
    Thanks!

  • Importing Ms Powerpoint Slides into a Project.

    I'm using Robohelp 7
I've created a manual in Ms Powerpoint containing 500 slides. It contains text, tables & Images. Is there any way to upload these slides into a project in Robohelp HTML.
I tried converting Powerpoint slides to XML format but then I lost the formatting and tables were converted to images.

    Hi leastoners,
If you're trying to insert a file into a Word document, your best bet is to check the Word online Help. (What you describe sounds like a function of Word, not of Acrobat). I did a quick search and came up with this: Add a PDF to a document - Word. But I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.
If I misunderstood your request, please let me know and we can take it from there.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Can Keynote play PC Powerpoint slides and video?

Hello, in our office we're a PC-only environment and we have a standard Powerpoint presentation that we show to clients. The presentation contains normal text and images, but also a few video files.
We bought an iPad 2 ideally to use for off-site presentations and to impress clients. While it was easy to bring the slideshow portion of the presentation over (e.g. convert to PDF), I'm unable to get the video files to work.
All i've tried so far is to convert the video files into MP4 files using the iPad codec/bitrate requirements and embedding it into a PDF. On the iPad 2, the PDF doesn't play the videos, just shows the placeholder slide.
I'm open to purchasing 'Keynote for iPad' if required to get this to work (or other apps like GoodReader), but I do not want to purchase a Mac for the sole purpose of getting the presentation to work.
Before I purchase the app, can anybody confirm whether it's possible to use the Keynote app for a slideshow presentation containing video? Would I be able to import my presentation easily (slides + video)?
I've read elsewehre that high-quality videos can only be brought into the iPad using Keynote on a Mac. Is this true? I need my video files to remain at high-resolution.
I don't mind doing minor adjustments (e.g. re-importing/placing video files) but I do not want to re-create the entire slideshow.
    Thanks!

    1) Powerpoint can only use video formats that are not compatible on the iPad
That would surprise me as the formats supported by the iPad are fairly common movie file types.  But I don't use PowerPoint so I'm not a good authority there.  Hit up the PowerPoint forum to find out what formats PowerPoint for Windows supports: http://support.microsoft.com
I read (https://discussions.apple.com/message/11684522#11684522) that any video files imported seperately are re-encoded into a lower quality.
This thread refers to adding video to the presentation in Keynote once the presentation is on the iPad.  In your scenario you are pre-adding the video to the PowerPoint Presentation while it is still on the computer.  Keynote for iPad does not modify video.  You modify the video to make Keynote able to use it.
iPad supports "H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second" (from the link I provided in my prior post).  This is "high quality".
Given the highly specific nature of what you want to use Keynote for, perhaps take a copy of your preso to an Apple Retail Store and try it out.
One additional thought would be to simply export your presentation out of Power Point as a Quicktime file (good question for the powerpoint forum) and then putting the movie on the iPad and playing it as a movie.  You won't have the ability to advance the movie frame by frame as you would with a slideshow, but it would have a play / pause button like any movie.
    Best of luck!

  • Importing PowerPoint slides failure

I have been using Captivate v1 for a couple of years without
problems. Recently I installed Norton 360 and it was a 360 degrees
turn for the worse, hijacking computer's ram etc, so I had to
uninstall it. I also run a utility that ereases all traces of
&^%$£ Norton. Well, after that I can't import my
PowerPoint slides into Captivate, the window is killed as soon as
it appears! Anyone has a clue what could it be? I've uninstalled
Captive and reinstalled it again, including the upgrade, but the
    problem persists.
    Thank you.

    Hi
If you get an answer to this please let me know because I've
got the same problem. I've imported PowerPoint that contains
hyperlinks that in conjunction with questions that if correct go to
the next slide but if wrong it reviews the relevant slide again
(played earlier in the presentation) and then automatically
hyperlinks back to start playing the multiple choice questions
again - can this be done in Captivate whilst still generating
    accurate scores?

  • Best practice when it comes to inserting audio for powerpoint slides

I'm creating a mixture of PowerPoint slides with animation and software simulation projects from captivate.
Currently I have developed the audio files associated with the animation objects for the PowerPoint slide. My question
Should I insert the audio files into PowerPoint and edit the timing of the animation based on the duration of the audio. I have been playing around with the editing and too be honest, I'm getting a tad frustrated trying to conduct the timing.
    or
Should I insert the audio via Captivate after importing the PowerPoint slides?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    AJ

In the Library all audio clips will be stored. Either from the Library or using the Audio Management panel, you can edit the audio clips directly in Audition (part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, one of the best audio applications available) and when saving they are automatically edited in Captivate as well. Same work flow exists with Photoshop: you can edit a source Photoshop file, where Captivate will keep the wanted layers as separate images in the Library, and you can edit them from Captivate right away in Photoshop. The integration of Captivate with other Adobe applications is unique in the eLearning tools.

  • Text Caption Boxes on imported PowerPoint slides

I have imported a number of PowerPoint slides (with an image)
into a Captivate movie. Text is needed on these slides so
originally I created the text on the PPT slides, but when imported
into Captivate the text formatting and spacing was all messed up.
So, I had to reimport those PPT slides with no text. After
reimporting, I used Text Caption Boxes to enter the text onto those
PPT slides. When published, those text boxes display small white
boxes (white is the text color) everywhere I used the space bar in
the text boxes (after a bullet, etc.) The white boxes do not show
when previewing or editing in Captivate.
Is there a way to get rid of those boxes or does anyone know
    of any other solution?
    Thanks in advance!

You're welcome. And speaking of "thanks", I have copied the
"fix" for the Transparent Caption Style bug from the guy who has
been a great friend and the best source of real intelligence in the
Captivate "expert" community, Paul Dewhurst. Paul deserves the real
"Thanks" for discovering the cure for this irritation ... his
solution is as follows - and I quote:
    quote:
One of the Problems Captivate used to have was that if you used
transparent captions then the text in the published movie would
look blurred, In captivate 2 you can fix this problem and have nice
crisp text all you need to do is select
#C0C0C0 as the highlight colour and highlight part of the
text (you can select just one character) this makes the text in the
published movie display nice and crisp and the highlight is
    transparent.
I hope this helps - and by the way, you can find other
great tips from Paul on his website at
    this link
    Have a great day!

  • Can't edit slide imported from PowerPoint in Cap 5.5

Hi - I'm running Windows XP.  I've created a new project from a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation (imported .ppt file, although it may have been originally created as pptx).  For the Advance Slide option I selected Automatically, and I unchecked the Linked checkbox.  I have successfully imported additional PPT slides into the project file, and I have been able to use the text to speech conversion option to create audio narration for several slides, so the project file seems to be working as usual, and is not overly large (only about 6 mb).  I can also open the temporary PPT editing environment and make changes to an imported slide by using right-click and selecting Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint/Edit Slide.  But after I click the Save button in the temporary editing window, I never return to the Captivate project file window - Captivate hangs up.  I've waited as long as ten minutes before using Task Manager to end the process.  Does anyone have any thoughts about what can cause this, and/or what I am doing wrong?  I have already uninstalled a trial version of Articulate (before uninstalling it, I was not able to import additional PPT slides into my project, but uninstalling didn't fix the editing issue).  I suppose I could work around this problem by importing corrected slides into the project file and deleting the originals I'm replacing, but I'd like to be able to get this to work right if possible.  Thanks.

I didn't use it because of comments I've read by developers who've had problems with the Linked function.  You don't need to select the Linked function to edit an imported slide in Captivate, though, do you?  I thought unlinked slides were imported into the project library, and that you can edit them there.  Have I misunderstood how this works?

  • Not all my PowerPoint slides import into Captivate 3

I am trying to import a 62-slide presentation in PowerPoint 2003 to Captivate 3, but only 10 slides will import. I am not sure what is causing the other 52 slides to not be recognized. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jennifer

    Jennifer,
Does it always stop on Slide 11?  The reason I am asking is that if this the case then look on that particular slide to see what is different from the rest.
Another suggestions, select all slides, then deselect slide 11 (assuming above applies) and try it, hopefully it will bring all 61 in then.  If not pick a bunch at a time and see where it fails - you are looking for a pattern of failures to pick the offending element.

  • Captivate 4 does not show imported PPT animated slide in Branching View

    Hi Captivate Users & Gurus,
I've imported an animated PowerPoint slide into a Captivate 4 project. There are 9 slides altogether in the project and the imported slide is number 3. My issue is that once the project plays (in Preview) it only goes from Slide 1 -> Slide 2 automatically. (It's set to show for a specific amount of time)
The problem is, after the time period it should move automatically to the next slide, however It won't proceed to Slide 3 UNLESS I put a "next button in for the user to click on.
The Branching View shows Slide 1 and Slide 2... but Slides 3-9 don't show up at all. (I've attached an image of the Branching View) If I add "next" buttons to those slides then they show up in the Branching View, but ideally we want for the project to play without having the user click to move forward.
In the TOC, all the slides are recognized just fine - any idea why Captivate can't link these slides up to continue automatically? Does the imported animated PPT need to be tweaked somehow for Captivate to see it?
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated - it's basically driving me nuts!
    Thanks in advance,
    Aarti

    Hi Kerry,
I think the earlier issue in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1944947#1944947 may solve this problem as well.
I think I was doing it backwards by setting the time on the slide properties rather than the object properties (video or otherwise). Once I implemented your suggestion for the thread mentioned above the Branching View now shows all 9 slides! Which is a huge step up from what I was seeing earlier.
    *testing now*
I just tested to see whether the project plays through from Slide 1 -> video slide -> animated PPT -> Next slide in course without having to use next buttons and it played through perfectly. I may just set the next button to show up after the video plays/ animated ppt plays so the slides are consistent visually.
    Thanks once again!

  • Slides imported from PowerPoint have resolution degradation

Any idea why slides I import from a PowerPoint file to
Captivate 3 look fuzzy? Whether I have simple text or use SmartArt
or especially graphics in my PowerPoint slides, the imported slides
are no where near as sharp as the slides I create within Captivate.
The "slide movies" I create while recording in Captivate are razor
sharp, but everything I import from Powerpoint does not look sharp
    - some is barely passable, some is OK, some is pretty crappy -
    depending on the font sizes.
My boss wants to create a training session based on some
PowerPoint slides which contain a few graphics but mostly bulletted
lists, and then intersperse that with some recorded screens to show
movements of cursors and which buttons are clicked in the
    application, etc.
I've got a nice presentation put together, about 100 slides
total (which is a bit large, I understand) but can't figure out why
the PowerPoint slides are generally "fuzzy". I've tried importing
as a background image versus animation (no animation in the slides)
    to no avail.
    Thanks for your time...
    Charlie

    Welcome to our community, Charlie
PowerPoint is intended to be played at full screen. When you
import it into Captivate, you are forcing it into a smaller size.
Hence a bit of "fuzziness" or distortion. There are different
things you might wish to try.
    * Configure PowerPoint to play in a window. Then use
Captivate to record the PowerPoint as it plays. That would result
    in crystal clear recording.
    * Kevin Siegel talks in one of his blog posts about
configuring the PowerPoint dimensions so they better translate. You

  • Adobe Captivate CS6 importing audio to the slide, worked correctly for 50 PowerPoint slides and the stopped working how do I resolve?

    Hi
I am working on a project as normal where I import a PowerPoint presentation to Captivate.  Then record the audio to the slide or if need be import the audio to the slide.  This has worked perfectly fine until today.
I went to the slide clicked on the option to import audio selected the audio and it imported to the library but not to the actual slide.
I tried doing this also from the menu bar.
Then I tried to drag and drop from the library with no luck.
I then deleted the audio file and tried the process over again.
Next I tried rebooting and starting over.
Still no luck.  What are my other options?  The file is a a mp3 that is 273 kb.
    Thank you

I'm relieved (if a little frustrated!) that others have the same issues, it makes me feel at least it's not just me! :-)
I am running Windows 7 64 bit Intel quad core processor 8Gb RAM if that helps Jim?
Another quick test shows I have exactly the same issues as shooternz and Ann Bens above at 7 & 8 respectively. An audio only or audio/video clip from Bin to SM and I can add markers on the fly perfectly. Audio/video from the timeline to SM works just the same. Audio only from the timeline will not work however.
I tried linking a video clip to my audio clip to see if that would allow me to add markers then unlink and remove the video... but when I opened that in SM the add marker button was greyed out and the keyboard shortcut (M) didn't work either!
    Curiouser and curiouser...
