Does LabVIEW 2011 SP1 make such a big difference?

These are my working build specification in LabVIEW 2011
Any idea?

First I spend time to upgrade to 2011SP and after update, when I find out about broken build specification. I started to question myself is it really worth spending time to upgrade?
BTW, the issue is resolved. How I have no idea. For the first 2 times I opened the project, the build specification was broken and third time I was correct. Luckily I did not save the project first 2 times.

  • Bug report: on LabVIEW 2011 SP1 and Windows 8 'Open URL in default browser.vi'

    Dear colleagues,
    Here is a bug report.
Culprit: 'Open URL in default browser.vi'.
    System: Windows 8, Professional. LabVIEW 2011 SP1.
Abnormal behaviour and steps to reproduce:
Above mentioned VI doesn't work when LabVIEW was started with administrator privilegies. And it works as expected when LabVIEW running in normal (non-administrator) mode.
Looking forward to see this fixed.
    Best regards,
    Igor Titov.

    Hi Igor,
Unfortunately LabVIEW 2011 SP1 does not support Windows 8. I tested this behavior with LabVIEW 2012 SP1 on Windows 8 and everything worked correctly.

  • Error -1074397038 occurred at IMAQ Start.vi for 64bit Labview 2011 SP1, Win7

    Hello,
I am using a MC1362 camera from Mikrotron with a PCIe1433 framegrabber. I was using it with windows XP, 32 bit, labview 2010 SP1 32 bit, it was working perfectly fine. I just switch to windows 7 with labview 2011 SP1 64bit, and it is not working anymore with my custom routine in labview, though it works with MAX and camera file generator and I use the same camera file.
When I run my routine, I have this error message:
Error -1074397038 occurred at IMAQ Start.vi
    Possible reason(s):
NI-IMAQ:  The requested serial termination string was not found in the returned buffer.
Then, If I try to run the camera with MAX, it doesn't work anymore, I have to reboot the camera, and put it in the right mode with the Mikrotron control tool to obtain an image.
I have seen similar issue on a Basler camera on the forum, and it has been solved by using a camera file to set the different parameters. There is no camera file complete to set all the parameters of the camera, so I had to program them in serial to drive the camera with my Labview routine.
Could you help me to solve this issue please?
    Thanks

  • Only have LabVIEW 2012. Why am I asked to download LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f2 RTE Patch?

    Hello,
I recently got a new machine (clean install of Windows 8), and installed LabVIEW 2012, with no other previous versions. However, when I ran the NI Update Service, it listed "LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f2 R(32-bit) Run-Time Engine Patch" as a critical update.
I'm confused; did I accidentally install LV 2011 too?
    Thanks

Also, some addons use older RunTime Engines.  It is not suprising that you need the 2011 RTE patch.

  • Need link to LabVIEW 2011 SP1 Windows 32-bit download

I have been looking for the link to LabVIEW 2011 SP1 Windows 32-bit download for an hour.  I thought it might be incorporated into the SP1f2 version.  Nope. SP1f1 version. Nope.  The ni.com search can't find it, Google can't find it, I am stuck.

That I did not know. I guess the other question is even if you do have a right to the older version, would they not show up if you are not logged into NI.com at the time?
I would've figured that if you didn't have rights to a version, then you wouldn't be able to activate that version once you installed it. That you'd be left in evaluation mode. I didn't think that the website would block an attempt to download it.

I see that if you are not logged in, it says:

  • Why does RT 2011 Sp1 tell me that I need a newer version to run an app?

After installing RT 2011 SP1 on a laptop, I get an error that I need a newer version of Run time when i try to run an application created from LV 2011 SP1. Any ideas why?

    Hi,
Try to verify the version of LabVIEW installed in your controller (NI-MAX >> Remote System >> [Your Real-Time Target] >> Software >> LabVIEW Real-Time). Your controller should still be running the previous version of LabVIEW Real-Time. Try to install the new version in your target.

  • Labview 2011 SP1

Just wondering if anyone knows if\when Labview 2011 service pack will be available?  Have just got the cds for 2011 from it department, but realising that they often release a service pack in feb so don't want to waste a day installing the original on machines only to have to remove it again.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Service Packs do generally get released, but NI don't pre-announce them. Installing LV2011 before the Service Pack isn't a big deal, you certainly don't need to "uninstall anything" before putting the Service Pack onto your computer. If you are including any addons or toolkits, these are generally not updated in the service pack so there are a number of good reasons to go ahead and put 2011 on your machine now.

  • Process Failure when communicating over MODBUS using LabVIEW 2011 and DSC

I'm currently trying to read from a PLC's holding registers using MODBUS/TCP. I've confirmed that the PLC is updating the values and responding to MODBUS communication correctly using a third party program called Modbus Poll. However, when I try to poll the PLC using LabVIEW's shared variable engine, I am unable to read any values from the same addresses that I'm viewing with Modbus Poll.
My setup simply consists of a PC connected directly to the PLC over Ethernet, with no router in between. I am using LabVIEW 2011 SP1 with the DSC module.
I opened the NI Distributed Systems Manager to view the status of all shared variables in the Modbus library that I created and I've noticed that the CommFail bit is permanently set to "true". All other variables with a "read" access mode report "Process Failure". I've tried restarting the process as well as stopping and starting the local variable engine with no success. I've also restarted my computer several times to see if any services were failing, but this does not seem to have fixed the problem.
I finally resorted to monitoring communications over the network card that I have the PLC plugged into via Ethernet using Wireshark and I've found that while Modbus Poll is communicating with the PLC, many MODBUS and TCP packets are sent and received. However, when solely using LabVIEW or the NI DSM to communicate with the PLC, there does not appear to be any communication over the network card.
Something that may be worth noting is that I was able to communicate with the PLC and read values from it with the DSM on just one occasion, when I first figured out which addresses I should be reading from. It all stopped working shortly thereafter. Prior to this, "CommFail" was not usually set to "true" with my current configuration. Thinking that it was my firewall, I have since turned my firewall off, but this seems to have had no effect on the problem either.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Just a thought but I think the  register addresses used by LabVIEW are one off of the actual register #.  I was using a CRIO as a modbus IO Server and had to shift the register addresses by 1 to get things to work correctly (can;t recall if it was +1 or -1).  This is documented somewhere on ni.com but can;t seem to find it now.  But here is another  link that may help:

  • LabVIEW 2011 to 7.1 VI

    Hello,
I need a conversion of my VI to the 7.1 version.
    Thank you

    Hi there,
Can I please get some assistance on the following issue?
I have one application (let's call it A), which was built on LabVIEW 7.1. Unfortunately I don't have 'VI' for it, I only have an executable file (.exe). The main purpose of this application is to read the BIN data.
I have one more application (let's call it B), which was originally built in LabVIEW 7.1. I have a VI for it. This application creates some data files which is in a BIN format. I recently made some changes in this application using LabVIEW 2011 SP1.
Now, when I try to read the BIN files (created by Application B), it doesn't show / read anything in Application A meaning it is not compatible.
I remember when I had this problem earlier, I asked that person (who initially built Application B) to modify the code for me and make an executable (.exe) for application B, so in this way I was able to use it and read the BIN data in Application A.
However, I am still keep modifying the code in Application B, so I would like to run everything smoothly on my end without bothering that person to update the code and make executable for me.
Is there a way around this problem since I would like to modify the code on LabVIEW 2011 SP1 for future updates? What are my options here?
I will be waiting for someone's help on it.
    Thanks!!!

  • LabVIEW 2012 SP1?

Is there a plan when or if LV2012 SP1 should be released?
    Labview 2012 f5patch was released on 2013-01-05.
Labview 2013Beta was announced for one week.
Labview 2011 SP1 was released in December 2011.
I expected 2012SP1 in December2012 or January 2013. We are now February 2013 and I cannot find it...
    Will 2012SP be skipped?

I had an application working fine withe LV 8.5 FDS
I migrated to LV 2012  PDS yesteardy in since that time at any restart of the PC , when I lanch my appplication  I get  a message of the installer and then an error otf the MIcrosoft Installer
As you can see in the attached word file, the window event log tell that cwdss.exe.manifest does not exist
It is the case , but I llok to another thread of ni.com called
Why Does DataSocket Server Fail to Launch After Installing LabVIEW 2012? it is told to supress this file ....
So What should I do ?
For information on  other PC where no Pb occur , the cwdss.exe.manifest does  exist

  • Labview 2011 FPGA Compile Error

    Hi,
I'm new to FPGA. I want to use Labview 2011 SP1 with the Spartan 3E starter kit from Xilinx (Spartan 3E driver available from NI labview website).
I'm trying to work my way through the examples that came with the driver. I've run into the same compiler error with a number of the examples. The error is attached.
Error 7 occurred at Read from Text File in niFpgaCompileWorker_CheckForErrors.vi->niFpgaCompileWorker_JobComplete.vi->niFpgaCompile_Worker.vi:1
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or deleted, or the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the operating system. For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, : on Mac OS X, and / on Linux. Verify that the path is correct using the command prompt or file explorer.
    C:\NIFPGA\compilation\Shift_FPGATarget_Shift_87E8371C\Spartan3EStarter.bld
I've checked the registry to ensure that the path to the compiler is correct.
    Any assistance would be welcome.

  • LabVIEW 2011 compiled application icon missing

Previously when I built an application the VI Icon would appear in the top right corner exactly the same in the compiled executable as it did in the VI.
Since upgrading to LabVIEW 2011SP1 all I get is a blank/question mark, icon missing indicator.
This happens for all of my compiled applications regardless of what icon I specify, even if I leave it as the default.
VI icon looks like this               Application icon looks like this.
Just to be extra clear, there is no problem with how the exe icon appears in windows explorer and shortcuts.
I am ONLY talking about how the front panel icon in the top right corner appears.
The application works, it just looks ugly/unprofessional.
Is this a bug? Do I have something configured incorrectly? Is there a workaround? Has anyone else noticed this?

I tried building on another computer. It works properly.
My usual development machine is running Windows XP SP3.
The other computer I just tried a build on is running Windows 7 and that works fine.
I'm trying a repair of the XP installation now (I'll get back to you in a couple of hours!).
One other possible difference is that on the XP machine I installed the LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f1 patch.
Now I can't remember if I uninstalled it again afterwards. How can you tell if the patch has been applied or not?
I can't remember if I did it on the Windows 7 machine too???

  • Labview 2009 SP1 - Create exe option does not appear

    Hello everyone,
I'm using Labview 2009 SP1 and I want to create a simple exe file (to run in the same computer that has labview or in any other  computer with the appropiate labview run time engine).
I create a project with project explorer with the appropiate VI, everything OK for the moment, but when I right click on the menu "Build Specifications" of the project explorer I only have the options New and Help. If I click on New I only have "Source Distribution" and "Web Service (RESTful)" I would like to see the option Application and be able to create the EXE file.
Anyone knows how can i create simple EXE files or make the option "Application" to be visible?
    Thanks for advance!
Much thanks for your time and dedication!

I guess you did not install the LabVIEW Application builder when you installed LabVIEW. When you do, it will allow you to create the exe and installer (You must be having a valid licence also).
