Does labview obtain time information from Windows?

My labview program outputs a timestamp, and I'm trying to figure out how it determines the time. I know that it "calculates the timestamp using the number of seconds elapsed since 12:00 AM, Friday, January 1, 1904, Universal Time", but I need to know where it gets this information from. Does it take the time from Windows Date and Time? So if I change the time on my computer it will change my timestamp in my labview output? Thanks.

Yes you are right, it takes from system time ..

• Access hard disk in time capsule from Windows XP installed in VMware Fusion

Hello.
I have installed VMware Fusion 3.0.2 on my iMac (Mac OS X Version 10.6.3) , and then have installed Windows XP on the Fusion.
Now, I can not access the hard disk in the Time Capsule from Windows XP.
Does anyone have an idea to overcome this problem?
Thank you for your help.

• How can I uninstall Labview run time engine from the machine?

I understand that Labview has not given any provision to show customized 'License Agreement screen'. Isn't it? This is the main cause of my problem. Since I want to show our own license agreement (LA) screen, I made the one using Labview. To show this license agreement screen, I first install a small application which has only this LA screen with Labview run time engine. The customer can see License Agreement Screen with Labview Run Time Engine on his machine. If My customer accepts the LA, I will install the main application further by calling another setup.EXE file.
If my customer selects 'Do Not Agree' to the LA, I will quit the installation process. Here I also want to 'uninstall' Labview Run Time Engine
from his machine since he doesn't accept License. I would like to know how to uninstall Labview run time engine from his machine?
Another way which I could think is to run the LA screen from the CD with Labview run time engine on the CD. I will start installing the main S/W to the customer's machine with LABview Run Time Engine only after he accepts License agreement. I would like to know how to run the Labview application from CD without installing run time engine on the target machine?
Can anyone suggest solution to my problem?
Thanks,
Chander

J-Tek,
I would suggest re-installing the Run-time Engine and then uninstalling it after a reboot. Also, you can download a program called Msicuu.exe (for NT, 2000, XP or Msicu.exe for 9x) to help clean up the registry for uninstalled programs.

• How to know date and time information from Trace File defaultTrace.X.trc?

Hi, all.
i'm using EP 6.0 SP9 patch 1.
As you know, default trace is written in the <SID>\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaultTrace.X.trc.
By using the default trace formatter, it shows like the following sample messages.
#1.5#0011110E7B2000590000000100000A100003EC71562E6EBC#1104396451585#com.sap.jms.server.ServerClientAdapter##com.sap.jms.server.ServerClientAdapter#Guest#18####716257115a3f11d9b73b0011110e7b20#SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_23##0#0#Error#1#/Applications/JMS#Plain###JMS internal error at ServerClientAdapter! JMS Service is not started!#
My questions are
1. how do we retrieve the date and time information from the above message? It seems that this message has date and time info because LogViewer shows the date and time based on the above message.
2. how do we change the above date format to easier one
like "YYYY:MM:DD:hh:mm:ss"? i know that it can be configured from the Visual Admin --> Services --> Log Configurator but i don't know the exact place for the trace file.
Thanks.

Hi Sejoon,
I use the standalone Logviewer to read the log files. Works great.
"If you have an SAP Web Application Server Java 6.20 or below you may also get a standalone_logviewer.zip file at the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/download → SAP NetWeaver → Release ‘04. In this case JDK version 1.3 or higher must be installed on the system. The java version must be same on the server and the client.
In the SAP Web AS Java 6.30 installation a folder named logviewer_standalone can be found under: <path Of J2EE installation>/<SysID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/admin/logviewer_standalone. Verify that the batch file logviewer.bat is installed in the directory logviewer-standalone.

• Obtaining time information for collected data

Hi,
I'm trying to read the signals from 16 different microphones using the attached VI. I believe that the DAQ VIs are working fine.
However, my problem is that the data that I obtain is only of the array type without any time information. This prevents me from calculating things like frequency of the input data. If I'm not mistaken, the dt values of the input data is now at a default value of 1. I wanted to know what I could change to obtain the actual analog frequency of the input data, and be able to save the X and Y values of the waveforms in a file.
Thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion.
I have changed the instance of the polymorphic VI. But now I'm having issues with saving the data. I don't know how I could save the data for all the channels (similar to my post on another thread)
Write To Measurement File does what I want, but I just wondered whether I could use Write to Spreadsheet VI (as I prefer it in this form).
Cheers.

• How can I stop ical from deleting time information from event titles?

I sometimes like to put times (e.g., 10pm) in the titles of my events. I do this because I want to see the time in the event title for certain events. Apple's ical thinks it knows what I want (it doesn't!) and deletes this information from the title, probably to schedule the event at that time, which is ridiculous because I sent the time of the event when I create it. This is especially annoying because I want the time in the event title for a reason. I can't figure out how to turn this function off. Apple, if you're reading this, please add an easy on/off switch to this "feature," (or better yet, remove it). In the meantime, does anyone know how to get around this?

Enter them in a format that Calendar doesn’t recognize as a time.
Or go back and edit the title after it recognizes the date/time info.

• Can't connect to Time Capsule from Windows

I have a time capsule that I have set up at work which works great with my laptop (MacBook Pro) at work. However, when I try to map the Time Capsule from home (Windows 7, not the same subnet), I cannot do so.
I have been able to ping it, as well as access the Time Capsule configuration page through the AirPort Utility that I have installed on my Windows machine at home (I do so by going to File...>Configure Other... and then log on). So I can communicate with it but I can't map it using the Windows "Map Network Drive" command.
Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I had to change the Time Capsule to only allow File Sharing with Accounts. Then, using the "Map Network Drive" and \\ipaddressaccountname and - viola!

No, the runtime does not include DAQmx. It does not include any hardware drivers. That is discussed in numerous posts.

• Does ACR include all information from X-Trans sensors?

There has been a lot of discussion about how best to convert information from X-Trans sensors. Early conversion algorithms have been criticized in various fora and the algorithms have been improved. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that the algorithms will be improved again in the future.
If I store a raw file and then convert it to another form, say, TIFF, using a future conversion algorithm, I will obviously be able to take advantage of that algorithm. What if I store it in DNG form today and then convert it to TIFF in the future? Will I be able to use the future conversion algorithm, or will key information have been lost in converting to DNG?
Here's what I think the situation is:
If I use DNG Converter 8.4 and say that I want conversion that is compatible with ACR 7.1, then the X-Trans information is preserved. Moreover, converting to DNG does lossless compression, so the DNG file that results is likely to be smaller than the original raw file.
If I use DNG Converter 8.4 and say that I want conversion that is compatible with ACR 6.3 or earlier, then DNG converter will do the conversion to RGB pixels. This will result in a DNG file that will probably be larger than the original raw file, and will make it impossible to use future raw conversion algorithms. However, it will also yield a DNG file that can be opened by versions of Photoshop before CS6 and versions of Lightroom before LR5.
I would really appreciate it if someone from Adobe can tell me whether my understanding is correct, and correct it if it is not.

Well, ark, I don't appreciate being called rude and inappropriate, but I'm not here to argue with you.
You still don't get it:
[email protected]
Let me rephrase the question.
Suppose in a couple of years a new version of ACR comes out that does a better job of demosaicing (or whatever) than the current one. Is there any reason to believe that it would be necessary to recreate every DNG file from the corresponding raw file (as it was in going from ACR 6.3 (I think) to ACR 7.1) or is the DNG file from ACR 8.4 contain all of the information in the raw file?
This is a reasonable question about workflow…
No, it's a question about a hypothetical… and it lacks foundation. Yes, we do foresee the probability of future versions of ACR doing a better job of the conversion, that is precisely the point. But for ACR to get to that point, it would require a breakthrough in technology that we cannot now predict. Not knowing what such an advance might entail, the question of whether the DNG wrapper could be affecting the raw data in ways that we cannot currently discern becomes impossible to answer.
Given current technology, we can say today that the raw data is indeed not affected by the DNG conversion, but no one can guarantee you that future technology advances will not force us to revise that view.
That's why it is so unwise not to keep the original raw file in perpetuity, especially when the only drawback is the cost of file storage, which at this point is so ridiculously cheap as to be trivial.
If you want to perceive rudeness and inappropriateness in my point of view, or in my expressing such an opinion, go ahead. There's nothing I can do about it.
You had a question, and I answered it to the best of my ability, that's all. In my considered opinion, your stance is unwise.

• Scanner of HP 8500 A909g does not work after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10

After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and subsequent upgrade of printer software, the scanner functionality did not work. When I tried to uninstall the printer software I got the message "HP uninstaller has stopped working". After another upgrade of printer software the scanner was still not working. How can I get around this problem? Update:
I followed the instructions for a similar problem with Windows 8 on http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Scan-doesn-t-work-on-Solution-Center-after-migrating-to-Win/td-p/2228367.After this, the scanning seems to work. Not sure whether it is possible to uninstall, though (don't want to try since it is working).

I had the same problem with my Officejet Pro 8600 All-in-One scanner, sfter upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver, the problem is solved. You can look up the model of your printer on HP's support site and download it from there. Apparently, not all printers are compatible with Windows 10. In that case, they recommend you buy a new printer. ;-)

• Does Labview run-time engine 6.0 application created by Window NT can install & run on other OS?

Any one know for sure? Thanks.

Across multiple OSes, you will most likely be able to load the VIs and
execute them in the LV environment or rebuild the executable with no
problem. But, you will not be able to run executables built for Windows
on Mac, Solaris, or Linux. The reason is that executables have to meet
binary standards, and those standards differ between the OSes. It
really doesn't matter what language/tool the executable is built with,
if it is the OS that is loading it, it will be specific to the OS.
It would be great of someone like ISO or ANSI declared an executable
standard that all OSes could load and execute, but since t
he goal of
executables is maximum flexibility and maximum performance, it is
unlikely that this new standard would win out over the existing ones.
If this comes about, the LV team will definitely be looking to take
advantage of it.

LabVIEW source code from one OS can be ported to another OS (except for OS specific things like ActiveX) but executables cannot. You would need the unix version of LabVIEW and it's app builder to create an new exe.

• Where does Application Server get its time information from?

Hello All,
My OS (AIX 5.2) has the correct time info. for e.g. right now, it's 09:40:24 EDT 2007
My application server console however displays GMT time on the home page. I've tried restarting the console to no avail. Has anyone run into this?

• Does LabVIEW DSC 8.5 support Windows Server 2008?

Hi,
I am developing a SCADA system using LabVIEW DSC 8.5. Apparently, customer wants the Server Computer to be latest Windows Server 2008 operating System.
But the Release and Upgrade note specify that DSC Module does not support Windows NT/Me/98/95/Server 2003. (System Requirement section)
Does it support Windows server 2008?
Any feedback most appreciated.

Hi Vsh
Sadly no version of LabVIEW (and therefor no modules like DSC either) officially supports Server 2008. That has however not stopped people from trying and I've seen both cases were it has worked fine and cases were it has not worked. This thread might be of interest to you.
