Does lightroom 5.2 read orf files?

i just bought the olympus pen 5 camera and my current version 3 won't read the raw file ( orf) i can convert using dng coverter but that is a pain and added steps. Anyone know if 5.2 recoginizes orf directly in lightroom?

At this link, the supported cameras are listed, along with the minimum version of Lightroom needed.

If your camera is a PEN E-PL5, then you're good.

  • Does Lightroom create an extra JPG file?

I'm new to Lightroom. When I import images from my camera and exit Lightroom, I notice that every JPG has been exactly duplicated with the addition of a _2 as a suffix.  The DNG files are not duplicated.  I'm quite certain my camera is not doing this, as it hasn't done this before.  This creates an extra cleanup task as I must delete all these extras.  What gives?

Since I'm new to LR, I did an Import. One other person mentioned that maybe I imported into the same folder, thus creating dups.  I will watch carefully next time. I'm willing to give LR a chance as I know many people swear by it.  I guess if someone has tens of thousands if images, fast keyword searches can be helpful, but I "catalog" my images by discrete folders, so I know where everything is.  That might not be the case when I get many more images.

What is your workflow for importing images?  Do you use something other than LR to copy images from a memery card to the HD, and then import into LR?  What option (at the top of the import window are you using for import (Add, Copy, Move, etc.)?

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

Could be systems logs or some other system file growing.
Use OmniDiskSweeper or DaisyDisk to map what's being used.

  • Lightroom raw processing error - ORF file format

I am trying to get Lightroom to import files from my Olympus E510. It creates files in raw (.orf) format.
The Olympus tool supplied with the camera works fine and reads all of the files.
Lightroom says ALL of the files are corrupt.
I'd really like to get Lightroom to read and process these puppies.
Any help or direction you can give would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

The Adobe DNG converter, while it will process an orf from and OLY e-510 does not process it correctly. Blown highlights are fringed in magenta, if not completely replaced by magenta. The same file opened in the box Olympus Master, does not show the blown highlights. the DNG converter officially supports the OLY e-410, not the e-510. These are my observations and YMMV

  • Lightroom has trouble reading RAW files on my network drive ("The file appears to be unsupported or

Hey guys, I currently run LR5 on Mac OSX.  I've had my RAWs on an external HDD and have smart previews built for those files.  Recently, I upgraded to a new router, the ASUS RT-N65U, and plugged in my WD My Passport Ultra HDD (FAT32 filesystem) into to.  Now I've put my RAWs on the network drive, and verified via MD5 checksums that the files are being read correctly (albeit rather slowly) from the network drive.
However, whenever I try to view one of the photos on the network drive, Lightroom complains, "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged".  I've verified via MD5 that the files are not damaged.  Does anyone know how I can get LR to be happy with the files on my network drive?
(Bonus question: how do I make my network drive faster?)
    Thanks!

    Got RAWs from a D7000 and D600, LR v5.2 [922700].
Oddly things are working now... I ejectected the network drive in Finder and reconnected to my router.  Lightroom no longer has problems viewing the photos, even after I closed my laptop and reopenned it.  I think the problem might occur when my laptop goes to sleep for a long time and I reconnect.  Will repoert back when I try that.
I'm using an external HDD attached to my router.  The reason I don't plug the external HDD to my laptop directly is I don't want to keep doing it every time I want to access my photos, and my laptop only has limited disk capacity since it's an SSD.

  • Lightroom Can't Read (jpg) Files

Why can't my Lightroom read my (jpeg) files now that I have reloaded it onto a new imac hard drive?

If the error message actually says "The following files could not be imported because they could not be read" then you're in the Import dialog, and you don't want to import the same files back into LR just to move to a new hard drive.  In that case we need to find your previous catalog and open it, rather than starting afresh.
If you're in the Library module, I need to know exactly what you're looking at.  A screenshot would be ideal.

  • Lightroom doesn't read NEF files

Last night, I scanned some negatives with my Nikon LS-5000. I thought I'd save them as NEFs, so I tried a couple. Unfortunately, LR 1.1 doesn't read them.
I just ended up re-scanning and saving as 16-bit TIFFs, which will work fine.
I'm guessing Adobe probably won't add support for this since film isn't too important anymore. Does anyone have any comments regarding this shortcoming?
    Thanks,
    Jay

This issue is well documented. It's not a LR issue. Nor is it a Photoshop issue. A Nikon Coolscan NEF is not a raw file. It is a proprietary linearized format that only works within Nikon software. Save your scans as TIFFs unless you plan to exclusively use Nikon software to process them.
There are NEFs .. and then there are NEFs.

  • Lightroom unable to read CR2 files

I recently upgraded from a mac mini to a macbook pro retina using migration assistant and time machine backup. All went well, and since all my photos were on an external drive, no problems there.  However, when I try to import new photos, I see the images, but then get a list of the .CR2 files and an error message of "unable to read files."  This is a Sandisk Extreme 16 GB SD card, and it still successfully works on the old mac.  Following a similar issue in the forum, I checked permissions, and those appear to all be correct.  I'm running LR 4.4.  Please be specific with any suggestions.

Try copying a file from the SD card to the hard drive and import from there. Do you still get the same error?

  • Is there any way to get lightroom 4 to recognise raw files from my 7d Mark 2?

I have been searching on here for a few days now, but can't seem to get my head around the answers I got a new 7D mark 2 a few weeks ago.  When I first came to download my pictures from the card I was only marginally surprised they were unreadable - I'd forgotten to format the memory card to the camera.  No big deal, I thought, merrily deleting the photos Lightroom couldn't read and formatting the card.  But now that I have formatted the card, I am kindof upset that Lightroom still cannot read the files at all.  I have downloaded the DNG converter and updated all my software, but if the files are not being read at all, how am I supposed to convert them?
What am I supposed to do? I can see the photos on the camera itself - I usually shoot in Raw and JPEG to cover myself, but this time Lightroom isn't reading either format.  If I shoot purely in JPEG I can download them without problem, but together (jpeg and raw) I can't see either.
Tech wise I have a hp laptop, 4GB RAM, 2tb hd (separate), Windows 7 64-bit os, Lightroom 4 and Photoshop Elements 12.
    Help me please?
    Thanks

I have downloaded the DNG converter and updated all my software, but if the files are not being read at all, how am I supposed to convert them?
You use the DNG converter (version 8.7 or later) to convert the RAW to DNG. This is a separate step, outside of Lightroom, before you import. Then th DNGs will be import-able into Lightroom 4.
I usually shoot in Raw and JPEG to cover myself, but this time Lightroom isn't reading either format.
If your card has both JPG and RAW, Lightroom isn't reading the JPGs? Could you give us the error message or describe what is happening? Also make sure that the option to treat JPG next to RAW as separate photos is checked. Lightroom Help | Set import preferences

  • Does Lightroom 3 support Panasonic DMC FZ200 RAW files?

Does Lightroom 3 support Panasonic DMC FZ200 RAW files?  I think the update for LR 4.2 does.  But I still have LR 3 and do not wish to upgrade right now.

Of course not.  The camera was announced 8 months after the last version of LR 3 came out.
You could use the free DNG converter.

  • Aperture imports the raw images from my new Olmpus e-p5 as .orf files and does not recognize them. What can I do?

Is there another way to convert the .orf files that are not being recognized ?
    I used a card reader.
The Olympus Viewer software reads the raw images just fine.
    Thanks

I do not see your camera on the list of supported cameras, sorry.
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
The Olympus Viewer software reads the raw images just fine.
Does this program have an otion to export the photos in a different format? Then it would be the best way to convert the image files to a supported format.
Or check, if Adobe's free DNG converter supports your camera:  Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh
Aperture can import DNG files with the right settings.
You might also simply import raw+jpeg and work with the jpegs as original files, while you are waiting for the raw support to be released.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.
