Does Linksys even HAVE wireless routers w/VoIP-FXO capabilities anymore?

For the past year and a half, I've used a SPA3102 with Broadvoice. It was brutally hard to get working (mostly due to Broadvoice's awful instructions), but once I got it set up, it worked flawlessly. At least, until the bolt of lightning destroyed it on Sunday (along with the PLE-200 powerline ethernet adapter it was connected to).
Anyway, I need a new VoIP router. All things otherwise equal, I'd just as soon replace it with something that has similar capabilities, but can serve as my wireless gateway too. As far as VoIP capabilities go, it needs to satisfy two requirements:
1) Has a modular jack that a normal phone can be plugged into, and that looks (to the phone) just like a normal signal from the phone company. I believe this is a FXO port, but I can never keep FXO and FXS straight.
2) Can work with ANY VoIP provider who supports SIP, h.323, and/or IAX. It only needs to support one of the three, but by extension this means it can't be locked to a single company.
Capability-wise, I can live without 802.11N, but I'd classify "G" as fairly non-negotiable. A removable antenna is fairly important.
Do any of Linksys' current VoIP routers with wireless capabilities meet these requirements? Do they even HAVE any current VoIP routers with wireless capabilities? I remember ~1-2 years ago, you could buy wireless routers with VoIP capabilities and a phone jack or two on the rear at stores like Best Buy... now, you can't even find references to them on the sites for Linksys & their competitors. The models you can find online at Amazon & Newegg are all models from 2-3 years ago. It's like everyone just decided to quit making routers with FXO (FXS?) ports on them for some weird, unknown reason...

Update... assuming it doesn't have some fatal flaw (locked to some specific provider, or dysfunctional in some important way), the WRP400 looks like exactly what I want. Unfortunately, there's more info about it available in the description at Amazon than there is on Linksys' own website. Has anyone tried using it with arbitrary NON-Skype/Vonage VoIP service? Is there any ironclad way (UPC, perhaps?) to identify which ones are provider-locked (if any), and which ones aren't?
By the way, if I sound paranoid about carrier-locking, it's because ~2 years ago I ended up in a HUGE fight with a certain computer store that was selling white-boxed remanufactured WRTP54G wireless routers. Basically, they were locked to Vonage, the box and label only said they were "WRTP54G wireless VoIP routers" & said nothing about being locked. The store's argument was that their sales policy was "no refunds." My argument was that they defrauded me by selling a doorstop that couldn't be used for its advertised purpose. I finally got a refund after calling Mastercard in front of the manager to do a chargeback (nothing puts the fear of ${deity} into store managers like the "C" word), but I'd kind of like to avoid having it happen again.

  • Does Linksys Make a Wireless-N Cable Modem/Router Combo

Does Linksys make a wireless-n gateway router, a combination router and cable modem?
I currently have the combo device for wireless-g but want to upgrade to wireless-n.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think at the moment Linksys does not sell 802.11n gateways.
I generally recommend not to get combo devices but better get two separate devices, one simple modem and a wireless router.
    1. You have a far larger product choice for the router and they are usually cheaper.
    2. If the router dies you can still have internet through the modem directly. If the combo device dies you are offline.
    3. Less functions in a device makes simpler design and in average more stable and reliable devices.
    4. You can replace either device at any point. For instance, if you switch from cable to DSL or FTTH you can simple replace the modem. You may have to change the internet connection setting on the router but other then that you can keep the router. Likewise, if in two years from now you want to get the next-generation wireless router you can keep using your modem (if it is still fit for your internet speed)
    Just some to think about...

Try going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".   If that doesn't work, you'll have to tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different Apple ID for iMessage.

I have the same problem with my device specially with the NFL App and after maybe 2hrs of research I found out that Verizon has implemented that messege/restriction to keep the app "TRUE" mobile only. What I'm saying is that you won't get the NFL App to play no matter what you do if connected to HDMI adapter or AirPlay. I hope this helps more than the other/previous post. The only answers I have seen to this issue are to "disconnect the wireless," but my computer doesn't even have a wireless adapter (I use ethernet only).  What is the solution to this really annoying issue??

  • Does anyone NOT have wireless dropout problems wit...

There have been many posts complaining about wifi dropouts with the HH2.
I have standard up-to-8Mbps ADSL (running at about 6Mbps) and my HH2 has no problems maintaining multiple wifi connections even if they're using YouTube or iPlayer. I even have BT FON enabled, but I doubt anyone has ever used it!
Possibly there's a bunch of bad HH2s. Or, more likely I think, the HH2 is just not fit for purpose for >8Mbps connections. And if that's the case then people shouldn't upgrade without getting the HH3.

This forum is flooded with reports of bad HH2s however it seems to be on both infinity, 20m and 8m lines.
I never had a problem with either the HH1 or 2 but i never used them
Have always used my trust netgear and soon to be Vigor for infinity
But yes the HH2 is either not fit for purpose or a extreamly large batch of faulty devices have been shipped out.
Some people have had upto 5 replacments of the HH2 with yet another HH2 and suffer the same problems. I tink the problem is to wide spread to be a batch problem. Maybe BT changed part supliers for cheaper parts when building the Home hubs?

  • Does the G5 have wireless internet capabilities in it already?

Hi everyone. I have a G5 that I purchased in 2005. I was wondering if it already has a built in airport or maybe how I could find out. If it doesn't, then what is the process for hooking it up to wireless interent through comcast.
    Thanks for your help!!!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Models sold after May 2005 should have Wireless (called Airport Extreme) built in. If the iMac was purchased before this then the card can be fitted later:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacG517inchairport.pdf
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-M8881LL-AirPort-Extreme-Card/dp/B0000899ZB
If you're not sure when you got the iMac check in Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info > Network > Airport. If it is installed go to Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Network > Airport then switch Airport on and select the network name of your Comcast router.

  • Does WBP54G work with Wireless Routers

I have the Dlink DIR 655. Can I use this with my Sipura Telephone adapter? Please advise.

The wireless connection should work fine (provided that the signal path is adequate, there is no harmful interference from other devices such as 2.4 GHz cordless phones, etc.)  Also, note that the DIR 655 has an ALG for SIP that is incompatible with some ATA setups.  This trouble, if it occurs, would also happen if you used a wired connection.  It's usually possible to fix the problem by disabling the ALG or setting up port forwarding, but if you have other VoIP devices connected to the same router, there may be a conflict.

  • Does Adobe even have support for subscribers?

I have AfterEffects CC and after effects takes 3-5 mins to launch after double-clicking the icon.
Constantly "connecting to dynamic link server" in Media Encoder.
Exporting from AfterEffects to Media Encoder either takes 10 mins  and sometimes the project still won't show up in the ME queue, or ME doesn't open.
These issues have been going on for better part of a year.  No updates have resolved the problems.
What is a paying customer supposed to do?  Really, I mean professionals all over the world use these products and can't get support?  The online chat is not available despite the fact that chat hours are advertised.  and the 800# to call them is missing the last digit!  1-800-xxx-xxx  instead of 1-800-xxx-xxxX.

  • Wireless Routers With PCMCIA Slot

Does Linksys make any wireless routers beside the WRT543G-ST that have a slot for a PCMCIA Card?

I think dibbler is right because I do not recall ever seeing one with the PCMCIA slot.  Although it would be cool if they did that to support some of the wireless broad band cards that are available now.  That would be a awesome security measure to keep your teenage kids from getting on-line after hours or when you are not home to monitor them.  Simply take the card out and take it with you.

  • Westell Model 7500, does it have wireless capability?

I recently got Verizon High Speed DSL which came with the Westell Model 7500 DSL Modem/ Router. I am using a wired connection, but I noticed there is a flashing Wireless light on the top of the modem.
Does this modem have wireless capabiltiy on it's own? I tried to use my laptop to discover a connection and was unable to.
If so, how does one password protect this connection? I do not want my neighbors stealing my bandwidth. I would also like to be able to use the wireless functionality if this modem is indeed wireless capable.
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Yes, it appears to have wireless.
#1 Log-in to the modem combo.
#2 Go look for Wirelesss Settings.
#3 As need be, show a screen shot from the router's screen(s).

  • Adding Wireless Routers

I have been using a WCG200 modem/router on a home network for some time with no problems.  I'm trying to add a WRT54G router  to the network, so I can add a printer to the network.  So far i cannot make this work.  Does anybody have any experience with this?

You don't want a router. You want a wireless access point. You have wireless routers which you don't want to use as routers but only as access points. A router by definition routes traffic between multiple subnets connected to different interfaces (WAN and LAN). That kind of configuration is not what the WRT is built for and that's why support tells you it's a not a standard configuration for a WRT.
You can use a WRT like a simple access point.
Reconfigure the router through its web inteface. Wire a computer to the router first.
    1. Set the LAN IP address to a free IP address in the existing network.
    2. Make sure NOT to set a static IP on the internet connection type.
    3. On the main setup page disable the DHCP server.
    4. Now save settings. You'll loose the connection.
    5. Unplug the computer and wire one of the numbered LAN ports to your existing network.
Now you can access the web interface of the WRT on the new LAN IP address. Everything wired to the remaining 3 LAN ports and everything connected wireless has direct access to the network.

  • I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too..

I have a Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G wireless router and 2 Airport Extremes (the small ones that plug directly into the wall). Is it possible to extend the network from the router using these two AEs? I have a DVD player and Ext HD plugged into the router too. Any ideas? I'm guessing the only way is to do what I've seen in these community pages which states that it can be done but it will drop the bandwidth by 50%. Thoughts?? Thanks!

The Cisco/Linksys WRT-54G was one of the very few routers said to be compatible with Apple's implementation of WDS (Wireless Distribution System) settings.
The info that I have on file indicates that only the WRT-54G versions 4 and under were compatible, so that would be one bridge to cross.
Even if you find that your Cisco/Linksys might be the right version, Apple never published instructions on how to configure the Express devices with other manufactures, so users were left to their own devices to try to figure out how to get things working. Apple's instructions to connect to other Apple devices are in the link below:
    WDS network
If you were hoping to use 2 Express devices in this type of configuration...even if it works...the bandwidth penalties will be extremely severe.
The first Express drops the bandwidth (and speed) on the entire network in half and the second halves everything again. So, the result, in effect would be a "g" wireless network running at 25% speed. Few users would consider installing this type of network.
At this point, it becomes one of those things where the fact that you might be able to do something does not mean that there would be much value in doing so. But, it is your decision to decide if you want to try to proceed.
