The file type does not matter, the program you use to open the file does.
You need a newer version of word (or a third party program).
You can use openoffice as well.

It's possible that Dictation is set up to be turned on with a different key. Open System Preferences > Dictation & Speech, and choose the key you want to use to activate Dictation next to "Shortcut". Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5449

Once you have restored your new phone from the backup of your old phone and ensured that everything is working correctly, you should first turn off "find my phone" on the old phone and then erase it, before you get rid of it.

Does anybody know the terminal instruction to remove the shadow from screen grab images?
I saw it somewhere on some site ages ago
(I like to align images together and take another screen grab without the darn shadow and without opening another app)

I found this:
defaults write com.apple.screencapture disable-shadow -bool true && killall SystemUIServer
but this soesn't seem to work

To get rid of the shadow and only capture the window, enter this line of code in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.screencapture disable-shadow -bool true
Then to implement the change, enter:
killall SystemUIServer
To revert the modification and restore shadows, enter:
defaults write com.apple.screencapture disable-shadow -bool false

I've downloaded pages 4.1 onto my new macmini (10.7.2) but the File menu does not include the save as function . Any suggestions?

I'm wasting lots of time saving copies and then changing the names via the desktop. Any suggestions? I've already checked updates and can't see any that look suitable.
Whoops! No sooner had I posted this as a question when a whole host of queries popped up asking the same Q. So now I know there is NO Save as in Pages 4.1, but a similar route using Duplicate. I'm off to experiment.

Ipod touch-does it need the latest version of iTunes or will any version do

I will be getting an ipod touch soon.
I read somewhere that you have to have it synced with itunes before you can do anything?? does it have to be the latest itunes? i have a slightly earlier version (7.0) but using MultiPlugin so I can apply a skin to it. MultiPlugin doesnt work with the latest itunes yet

Why does Lion need to be rebooted more than Snow Leopard?

After upgrading to Lion I have noticed that I need to reboot Lion more often than Snow Leopard. Is this just me or is this something others have seen?

I think this is just you. Nevertheless I would install the 10.7.1 update if you have not yet done so. This will improve the stability of Lion somewhat. But before you do that I would reinstall Lion. You may find this will improve things quite a bit especially if you upgraded from Snow Leopard. This will not erase the drive so you won't lose any of your files.
Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

BCALV_EDIT_03 - Need the table update function

I am fairly new to OO programming and have worked through the various sample programs. I am currently using BCALV_EDIT_03 and _04 to write a table maintenance program.
I kind of have figured out how the delete and insert function works but unfortunately in sample program _03 the final table update function is missing.
What I am after is that I get all the changed records from the grid and update the external table just with those records.
Could somebody post some sample update code that I could check out?

Table update as in, database table update or ALV table update ?
ALV Table update will be done automatically, in case you have used the method : set_table_for_first_display
As you also quote that you are checking out BCALV_<b>EDIT</b>_03, I will just clarify this point, all changes made to the table are triggered by the EVENT DATA_CHANGED and this event has the necessary fields, from which you can come to know which rows and what values have changed. You need to use this DATA_CHANGED event and update your internal table. This is then shown in SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY in PBO.
In case you are talking about database update and if it is a custom table, then you have to use the direct update.
In case it is a SAP table, you might let us know which table it is, and probably some of the experts here can let you know the Function Module, BAPI or any method of a class to use.

HELP! Does Javascript need the explorer.exe process?

Does someone know why this code runs perfectly when the Windows process "explorer.exe" is running on my computer (which is the client of the web app), but doesn't work anymore when I remove this process?
The fact is that unfortunately, for a specific reason, I cannot have the process "explorer.exe" running on my computer. So the whole web application runs correctly on my computer except this code... and I really don't know why.

As I said before, considering how tightly IE and the Windows OS are tied together, it doesn't surprise me at all to hear this as being a problem. Even if you technically "uninstall" IE, it's my understanding that you are not really removing any code, DLLs, etc, just removing some shortcuts. This is cus the OS itself uses all the same things for so many functions. So it's probably that the OS (explorer.exe) has those functions, DLLs, whatever, and that IE just uses them directly.
One question, though... What is ObjReview_Object? Is this a real JS object or is it like a COM object or something? Just wondering if things like a simple alert() call would work in it's place as a test.

That was not a virus, more than likely someone either hacked into your email account or one of your friend's account and stole all the email addresses there. After that, they use the emails to send out spam or phishing emails.
The first thing is to send an email to your friends telling them that you are not sending those emails; second, change your password, and if possible, change your email address (that would prevent receiving any emails that are bounced back by the recipient's ISP's servers as spam - which, in turn, may result in your email address winding up on a spam list and being denied access trying to send emails.)
Other than that, there is no AV software which would have stopped this.

Then there's something going on with Safari on your Mac.
Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
