Does Lion work with Office for Mac?

Does Lion work ok with Office for Mac? I have the latest version of Office for Mac, but it is the cornerstone of my working life and I would hate to upgrade and find that it doesn't work.

Yes, Office 2011 works perfectly on Lion.  Only versions 2004 and older have a problem as Rosetta is no longer supported.
I hope this helps.

I'm running MS Office 2011 on Lion and it runs just fine.  No "Full Screen", but it runs just fine.  There may have been an update to install (I know there was an iWork one anyway), but even before I installed any updates Office '11 worked just fine.

  • Will iCloud work with office for mac

If i'm reading the blurb on the website correctly i can only get to see an Microsoft office word document on iCloud if i email it.
    Is this correct.
I want to use Office for Mac but be able to see and edit or finish the document on my iPad and iPhone.
    Is this possible with iCloud

There are options out there other than iCloud for
cloud storage and syncing (and also not as limited).
Dropbox is one choice.  If working with Windows
computers as well, One Drive is very good option
    (especially with Win8).

  • How will mountain lion affect my office for mac 201111

How will mountain Lion affect my office for Mac 2011

I have been using Office for Mac 2011 for almost a year now and the issue started immediately after doing the upgrade.
When I start Outlook I can see that it takes 1 minute plus to set up the identity.
When it finally runs it is very slow and no fun to use. It seems that Outlook is using very few resources when I look at the activity monitor.
Overall it seems that my IMac has become slower than before upgrading to 10.8.
I do not have support with MSFT anymore and I do hope that somebody does report this issue to MSFT.
To me it seems to be very clear a result of the upgrade.
    Hope that helps.

  • Does Lion work with an Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Ink Jet Printer?

Does Lion work with an Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Ink Jet Printer?

Took deliverly of my R2000 yesterday 11/04/2012.
**** of a job/mission getting to connect wirelessly to OSX Lion, but thanks to the perseverence of Epson support online chat plus ultimately phone call from Epson, the problem was resolved (total 3hours 45mins online chat 45mins on phone) yes i was a gineapig as the R2000 has only been available since March 2012 here in the UK.
    1. Download combo driver/utilities for R2000 Mac 10.6 (works with Lion)
    2. Install latest drivers and Epsonet.
    3. Connect the printer to your wireless router using a LAN cable.
    4. Ensure ink is installed on startup of the printer as the printer wont for some reason communicate without it as all the printer knows is it needs ink.
    5. Ensure Mac is also connected to router.
    6. Run Epsonet.
    7. When Epsonet has found the R2000 click next.
    8. Then click Changes on the following screen.
    9. Select wireless Lan.
    10. Select config manually (the auto will not work with Lion)
    11. Allow Epsonet to use passwords from keychain network name(SSID) + WEP password.
    12. When done you will be prompted to disconnect the LAN from the printer.
    13. Then Click next.
    14. Ensure wireless light on printer is lit if not hold WiFi button on printer for 3 Secs.
    15. If config is successful (it took me Two attempts) goto system preferences/print/scan/Add printer and add the R2000 that ends in IP.
Hope this helps someone. Epson support is a good enough reason to buy Epson IMO as mentioned with their help it took nearly 4 hours to reach the above solution at no cost to myself and believe you me i was on the verge of returning the printer to the supplier as Wireless printing is a must with a 19 month old child on the loose.
    Thanks Epson/Europe

  • Best phone for syncing with Office for Mac 2008?

I'll be getting a new phone in a few months and I want to get one that syncs perfectly and effortlessly with Office for Mac 2008.
I currently use a Motorola Q and a Macbook Pro and have to go through isyncing Office with the Mac versions (iCal and Address Book) and then syncing using Missing Sync. It works, but it's slow and not very elegant.
    What's the smoothest solution?
    - Mike

Just be careful if you use categories in Entourage for your mail, calendar and contacts and determine whether those categories will move with your contacts and other data to the iPhone when it syncs. I doubt that it will if sync services works the same way between Entourage and iCal because it doesn't support the category capabilities in Entourage which is why people had turned to Missing Sync for the 2004 version of MS Office 2004

  • I cannot get my Logitech webcam to work with Lync for Mac

I cannot get my Logitech Webcam or Cinema Display facetime webcam to work with MS Lync. Lync always uses the Macbook Pro's standard webcam and does not give any options anywhere to choose between video devices. The same webcam works with GotoMeeting, Viber, Skype and Google Hangout without any problems.
Does anyone know how I could get it working with Lync for Mac too? I have the Lync for 2011 version 14.0.7.

  • How does lion work with logic 9.1.4?

how does lion work with logic 9.1.4?

    Greetings,
So far, everything seems as stable as before.  Which doesn't actually mean its rock solid, but otherwise workable.  I'm running a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP with beta audio drivers.  So far, everything is running well.  I decided to jump into the 64bit work environment with Logic.  I have yet to encounter huge problems with the 32bit audio bridge.  Just making sure I bounce everything that is 32bit.
As for everything else within Logic, I can't say I hate Lion.  Matter of fact, Lion seems buggier than Logic at the moment.  Logic handles well in Lion, but Lion on its own overall is a different can of worms.  I am mixed about a 10.7.1 update.  Usually, it fixes something on the OS, but breaks something else in Logic.
I have faith that Lion will turn out to be as solid as Snow Leopard.  SL was my favorite OSX so far.  Lion still leaves allot to be desired in terms of stability.
Again, answer to your question:  for me, Logic and Lion play nice.............for now.
    LGK

I have problems with office for mac  screen resolution, specially with excel ?

For starters, make sure to Check for Updates on any of the Help menus, and make sure the product has all the latest patches. MS did come out with a patch addressing the display issues on Retina Macs. Latest patchlevel is 14.3.2.
We are talking about Office:Mac 2011, right?

Then something is setup incorrectly, which version of OSX are you on, and is this an iCloud mail address (@mac, @me or @icloud)
From your description of the issue I suspect that it is Outlook that is incorrectly setup.

  • Lion - 2004 MS Office for Mac will not work

My 2004 version of Microsoft Office for Mac will not work in Lion. I suspect because this is a PowerPC application. My question is this:
Is there any program out there which will map the PowerPC to an Intel format? Other than trying to seel more products, I am surprised that Apple does not supply a mapping program for products made by Microsoft for the Apple devices.

Eric, can you tell me where please? It's not mentioned on the Lion compatibility pages at all. (http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/what-is/compatibility.html) nor on the 'how to upgrade' page (http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/how-to-buy/)

  • Is anyone else having problems with Office for Mac and Lion?

Since installing Lion 10.7.1 on a macbook pro 2.53 Ghz 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 I have had no end of problems. Both Excel and Word hang, crash and saving an Excel file is a pain. A 12mb spread sheet just took 4 minutes to save! I have MS Office for Mac 2011 version 14.1.3.
Another problem that may not be related to Office is that opening Finder is so slow and most of the time it takes a minute to display folders in Desktop or Documents.
Any suggestions would be welcome .. I regret installing Lion .. I had no problems with Snow Leopard!

  • Problems with Office for Mac 2011 Outlook

So I've BYOD with my work, but having difficulty in accessing my Outlook email on the work's server. I keep getting the following pop-up for the mail stating that Outlook has redirected to the server (name of server here) to get new settings for your account (name of email account here). Do you want to allow this server to configure your settings? I havce the option of to Deny or Allow, both of which have been tried. The pop-up still pops-up no matter.
What our PC-oriented tech department has discovered is that it is being routed to an incorrect address. They have no idea where that address resides and we need to figure out how to insert the correct address into the correct place within the software.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks.

there seems to be something wrong with the Office for Mac software getting things right on that platform on that machine
Then that would be a question for Microsoft' and their forums.  It's up to Microsoft to maintain compatibility with the OS, not vice versa.
when Lion came out, there were others who had some issues wtih Outlook
Lots of sofware has issues if not updated to be compatible with new operating systems.
I was hoping someone who got things right might see this and response.
This has nothing to do with Outlook..it's running as it should.  The problem is that the autodiscover feature on your company's exchange server is not configured properly and is telling Outlook to point to that incorrect address.  It's up to them to fix the autodiscover settings on the exchange server.

  • Memory deficiency related to AutoUpdate shipped with Office for Mac 2011

    Hi ,
I am experiencing memory deficiency associated with Microsoft AutoUpdate for about a month or two.
    Environment
    * Macbook Pro with 8G RAM, 256GB SSD Running Mac OS 10.10.1 (Yosemite)
    * Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 installed through my Office 365 University subscription a few months ago.
    * The "Outlook 2011.app"  has been deleted and is substituted by the new Outlook for Mac 15.3 (141024), as is suggested by its installation note.
    * System and Office languages are both simplified Chinese.
    Symptom
Office programmes like "Excel.app" regularly invoke Microsoft AutoUpdate (Version 3.0 (141024) ) and suggest that a new update is available.  If the user agrees, AutoUpdate will proceed to download the update. It is found by monitoring memory usage using "Activity Monitor.app", the memory usage rises significantly overtime a short while after the download begins. And the memory usage eventually saturates  a few minutes later and the system warns instability due to memory deficiency, and suggests force quit some apps.
    * No other app seems to be causing this problem, which is verified by quitting any app other than "/Library/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft AutoUpdate.app".
    * The symptom is reproducible for today's update, and it was the same for the last update. But as far as I can remember, the auto-update worked well before that.
The problem makes auto-update impossible and has resulted in instability and loss.
The workaround that I have at this time is to download the update package (.pkg in .dmg) from Microsoft Download Center by following the Knowledge Base link given by AutoUpdate instead of having AutoUpdate  do this for me.
Thank you for reading this far :-)
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper (v 2.8). Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.
