Does Logic make use of Midi Time Stamp

Hi,
Id like to know if Logic make use of MTS or "Midi Time Stamp" to get enhanced midi timing with MOTU or Digidesign midi interfaces?

  • Lightroom does NOT make use of new/fast hardwares!

For those who are considering a new computer here's my experience....
Lightroom 4 does NOT make full use of new/fast CPUs / SSDs!
I’ve been frustrated with Lightroom speed since launch and held on to my “old” Xeon work station for two years…. I recently invested in the latest Intel CPU and IO technology and I'm very disappointed how Lightroom 4 does not make use of it. It's most noticeably sluggish from one photo to the next during editing. This may seem small but when I edits hundreds of images everyday it really slow me down.
See my system specs at very bottom of this post. I don't think there's a bottle neck in performance! I love my new setup and it's a pleasure to use the OS. BUT I'm so disapointed everytime I load up Lightroom. (My typical Lightroom edits are 600-900 sRAW images - I edit down my photos in Photo Mechanic 5! It's just too slow in Lightroom)
Lightroom still take time to load each image when advance from one image to the next (During editing). Isn’t smart enough to cache 100 images in advance let say. (1:1 previews as been created!)
Won’t make use of more than 8GB ram. No matter how big the RAW working set is.
Very slow switching from one working module to another
Lightroom Jpeg export won’t make use of more than 25% of new Intel Xeon E5 series dual processors processing power 12 cores. 6-9 cores are literally taking a nap during export!
I’ve tried everything found in Adobe suggestion link below:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/optimize-performance-lightroom.html
    * I definately tried 1:1 render preview and all of the other jazz found in link directly above!
    * Running all latest firmwares and updates
I hope the next version of Lightroom will actually make use of good hardware instead of adding on more features. We desperately need a snappy/responsive Lightroom for sake of productivity! I'm not here to put down Adobe. I'm a big fan of Adobe and Intel and have been using them for 15 years.
    My Setup:
    Dell Workstation T7600
    Dual Xeon E5-2630 2.5GHz (12 Cores Total)
    64GB 1600Mhz RAM
OCZ RevoDrive 3X2 - 1500MB/s (Boot / Camera Raw Cache)
4 Intel 520 Series SSD in RAID0 with dedicated 1GB Cache SAS/SATA PCIe 3.0 controller (Working RAW files)
Nvidia GTX680 - 4GB VRAM (I know this made for 3D but it has PCIe 3.0 connectivity - Quadro 4000 PCIe 2.0 wasn't any better)
    Drobo-S 2GBx5 (Strictly Storage)
Windows 7 Ultimate (Bare minimum! Just Adobe CS6 suite and Microsoft Office 2010)

Can you copy this to the Feature Request forum so we can vote on it please?  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family  And then post the link here so we can find it.  It'll get my vote.
There are a couple of others you might like to vote on too, such as using the embedded preview for editing down.  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_capability_to_display_embe dded_preview
In terms of workarounds for now, if you haven't tried the 4.2RC yet, you might find the module switching a bit faster.  And for better use of your exports processing power, try splitting your export into 3 or 4 and running them concurrently (i.e. set the first going, and immediately set the second going, etc.) as that'll make better use of the extra cores if your hard drives are able to keep up with them.

  • Using counter to time stamp to text file

    Dear all,
I am using counter to acquire singnal from quadrature linear encoder. I would like to time stamp the data acquisition to text file but I found that I can't choose to read time. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

    Hi,
Have you seen these two articles?
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/68806B93A21355E98625726F0064822B
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5D42CCB17A70A06686256DBA007C5EEA
Basically, it can be done, but be aware it may not be as accurate as you would like.  Follow the code in the first article and note that the easiest way would be to just use the basic File I/O VIs to write to text file, since the Write to Measurement File VI will only work with waveforms and you have counter output.

  • Does Logic Express has the flex time function?

Does the latest Logic Express has the flex time function which can either stretch or shrink the sound wave? I know Logic Pro 9 has that. I am struggling with buying either studio or express
    thank you

It does. Express and Studio have the same engine... except that Studio seems to be maintained better these days...
My (worthless) opinion right now, given the two recent releases of Studio with nothing released for Express is if you have the extra money, go with Studio.

  • Does FCPx make use of GeForce GT 750M?

I am considering a MacBook Pro for FCPx editing. I have a tricked out iMac at home but need something for use when gone. I have an older Macbook Pro that is functional but slow and it requires me to do all my work in Proxy when I get any multicam editing (two camera) on the timeline.
I'm looking for the minimum configuration that will let me do 2 camera multicam without worrying about creating proxy or optimized footage and as I look at that I wonder if FCPx  really makes full use of the GeForce GT found on the top of the line MacBook Pro.  If it doesn't, there's no need to throw money at it. FCPx is the only app I run that would make any difference to me with regard to the graphics card.
I'll get an SSD for sure, 256 is enough. I have too much footage to even think about internal storage so all that's needed for the machine is the OS and apps.  16GB ram is a no brainer so I can run multiple apps more easily. The question for me seems to come down to processor speed selection and whether I need the discreet graphics card. I figured I'd find the answer easily but not so. Thoughts?

I found a review at   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4rgL9dW7mw    that answers the question in the affirmative. The video card is used to a great extent and makes for a much better fcpx platform.

  • Does Premiere Pro CC transmit MIDI Time Code/MIDI Machine Control?

I'm doing the trial of Premiere Pro.  Previously using Vegas.  Video stuff is amazing and deep.  However, I'm primarily an audio guy.  I do music production/audio processing in my DAW.  Anyway, I use a Tascam DM-3200 as a control surface which is Mackie MCU control-compatible.  The Tascam seems to work with Premiere a little clunky.  Transport works sometimes, no scrubbing from the board.  Fader control is also spotty.  The control surface page is very basic with respect setup parameters for transport & faders.  Anyway ideas?

Hi Mark - I bought a NanoKontrol2 to be able to mix in Premiere Pro CC, but I'm having a nightmare trying to get it to work! Was hoping you could help me..
I'm on Mac.. I initially installed the Korg MidiUSB drivers. I uninstalled it (based on your advice) but it doesn't perform any better.. I've added the Control Surface under preferences as a Mackie device. Here's what happens when I switch to Audio Track or Clip Mixer:
The mute, solo, stop, play record buttons all do nothing. Markers do nothing. The sliders do nothing.
The fader knobs at the top sort of do something.. They mostly fade left/right in the opposite direction I turn them, and it's super imprecise. Difficult to get it back to center or anything.
What am I missing... is there a step by step procedure to setting up that I should follow (the instructions and other forums aren't helpful).

  • Does Emagic's AMT (Active Midi Transmission) work with Logic 8?

Is Logic 8 able to utilize Emagic's AMT (Active Midi Transmission) technology as used by it's Unitor 8 & AMT8 midi interfaces? (Similar to Digidesign's Midi Time-Stamping)

it was shown before( as unitor 8 though) but not anymore.
Ok, so it's not installed, and your computer doesn't know about it.
rescan midi doesn't find anything more,
No it won't. OSX can only communicate with an interface through a driver. No driver, no interface.
read somewhere that AMT 8 is not compatible with logic pro, which is odd.
Absolutely incorrect. And mine is working fine with all Logic versions, thank you very much!
Ok, trash you MIDI driver, which should be at:
    /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/ EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin
    Also trash
    /Users/you*/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.MIDI.
    /Users/you/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist
Reboot. Reinstall the Emagic MIDI drivers from your Logic or GB installer. Reboot.
Check the AMT now shows up in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. If it does, you should be good to go.
Edit: Oh, before you do all that, check that the USB cable hasn't just fallen out..!

  • Using Numbers, I need to time-stamp each line in a table for when it was entered

I need to time-stamp each line in a table for when it was entered.
I have a formula which is
    "=IF(F18="","",NOW())"
it gives me the answer I want, but every time I edit any data in the formula is recalculates the date/time to reflect the most recent edit. I do not want to do this. I am open to any and all solutions including using a script. I do not really know anything about scripts except that they are really easy to use once it's written.
I have a formula i use in excel but it requires circular references in excel. I tried using this formula in numbers but I get the error that says I cannot reference a cell that references back to the cell i’m inputting the formula into (circular reference. It is easy to use in excel just by limiting the # of iterations in preferences. I can’t seem to find any such preference in numbers. Do you know of one? here is the formula:
    "=IF(D4=”",”",IF(B4=”",NOW(),B4))"
I use it to time stamp each line in a spreadsheet. It is the only way to keep all the previous line from recalculating everytime I add a new line. If I can’t use this formula, do you know of a way to timestamp each line without having it update everytime I add a line or edit the form?
Thanks in advance- I know this isn’t exaclty an easy question but I have honestly looked everywhere
    emely

    Hi Emely,
    Check the Insert menu:
The highlighted item is slightly misnamed, requiring a bit more than a simple selection (or keypress combination*) to act as a time stamp.
Simply choosing the menu item willproduce the result shown in A2: A time and date value is entered, but only the Date part is displayed.
Setting the cell format to Date and Time, with both parts displayed (as I've done in column B) does show both parts of the Date and Time value, but as you can see, the time part is set to midnight, as it is in any cell where you have entered only the Date part of a Date and Time value. The date was entered here in the same manner as in A3.
To enter both the current Date and current Time, the process has a few more steps:
    Select the cell
Go Insert > Date & Time
Before confirming the entry, double-click the cell (now showing the Date) to open this small dialogue:
Click the pop-up menu under Choose Date format:
Choose the last item in the list.
Results as shown in A4 and B4 of the table above.
    Regards,
    Barry
•Regarding the KB shortcut shown: The Mac OS lets you define a KB shortcut for any top-level menu item. The one in the menu is a user-defined keypress combination, made to be easily remembered, not to be physically convenient to use. If doing your own, you may want to try for something eassier to get your fingers on.

  • Why does Time Stamp Control not produce a Absolute Time output?

I have used the the Time Stamp Control for manual input of measurement information. However, this control produce a time stamp in relative time which is unwanted. I thought that Time Stamps always are in Absolute Time. Is this not true? The control is very handy for time and date inputs. Is there a way of changing the output to relative time?

I will try to be more specific:
There is a Time Stamp Control available in the controls palette for use on the front panel. This can be used to set a variable called Time Stamp with values of time and date. It has a time and date browser which is very convenient to use and I like to use it. The time format I prefer in this case is Absolute Time which is time-zone-independent and it is the number of seconds elapsed since 12:00 a. m., Friday 1, 1904, Universal time according to LabVIEW help. However, the output from the Time Stamp Control is in Relative Time which I think is the Absolute Time compensated with Dayligth Saving Time and the local Time zone setting in your system.
Time Stamps are always in Absolute Time I think but not in this case.
My problem may be solved with a VI similar to "Format Date/Time String Function" but with a time stamp input and output, since this VI converts from Absolute time to Relative time. Even better is of course having a Time Stamp Control where you can select between absolute and relative time.

  • Save the file and give date & time stamp

    1. Reading the Excel file from the selection screen as a parameter.
    2. Using F.M. ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE reading Excel file into
        Internal table.
    3. Implementing the Business Logic.
    4. Move output to Final Internal table.
    5. Final internal table should generate a Flat file. By using GUI_DOWNLOAD.
    6. That flat file should be saved with the name and location given in the Excel.
    7. When ever I run the program output file will generate in the same location but with date and time stamp. Because I’m running the program for range of employees say initially I run for 1 – 10,000 employees next 10,001- 20,000 like that.
Whenever I run for 2nd time it will overwrite the previous output, that’s the reason I’m using date and time stamp.
    Eg:
    PERSONAL Numbers              Name                                         Location
    00000001                 xxxxx-24.04.2007-10.30          C:\
    00000002                 xxxxx-24.04.2007-10.35
    00000003                 xxxxx-25.04.2007-10.40
    00000004                                  xxxxx-25.04.2007-10.30
Can any one help me how to save the file and give date & time stamp through hardcode?
please help me in this issue.

I am not clear with your problem. Based on the understanding of your question,
    there  can be two cases.
1- U want to insert time stamp in the output file.
2- Time stamp is already there, u just have to solve the overwriting issue.
If your question goes with option 2, You can make use of import parameters
<b>CONFIRM_OVERWRITE</b> : Which will ask for confirmation before overwriting.
<b>APPEND</b> : which you can choose either to append the data to the existing file or overwrite it.
Please inform if the issue is not resolved.

  • Format Time Stamp String for excel error

    Hi all,
I am currently trying to format the time stamp from labview to excel, in an excel recognizable format.  Ive attached a photo of that part of the vi.  The time stamp is formated correctly when it leaves the format time stamp block and after it leaves the build array block, but when it is written to excel file it is formated in what looks like a standard format and excel does not recognize this as a time stamp.
Any ideas to fix the issue?
    Thanks

The Example Finder has a few ActiveX examples I think one uses Excel.
Also if you have the Report Generation Toolkit I think this is what you need
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/38D7104644E0F7A5862578B1001A86C5
It sets the cell format to be how you want.  The default for a timestamp is "m/d/yyyy h:mm".
BUT I just think I have an easier solution.  The problem is it correctly detects that this is a time stamp, but the cell format is incorrect.  If we convince it that it is a string it will look right and I assume that's all that matters.  So add a space to the front of your time, so have the format be " %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S" (notice the space) and I think it will look the way you want because Excel thinks it is a string.

  • File name with Dateand time stamp.

    Hi All,
I want to generate a file with a date and time stamp.
For that in File Receiver adaptor i am using option "Add Time Stamp" in File Construction mode. however it is generationg file name as: FileName_20082104_121211_645.txt . In this I don't know what these last three characters "_645" are? And In the File name i only want a file name with datetime stamp . I don't require underscore in between. for eg: FileName_20082104121211.txt (FileName_dateTime.txt)
Can anybody suggest me the way to achive this?
    Thanks,
    Atul

    @FileName_20082104_121211_645
The date time stamp in XI's file adapter will be in that format. This is to avoid over writing of files created simultaneously at the same time. So the last 3 digits is a form of an unique id to distinguish between the same.
In case you want the format as FileName_20082104_121211, use the dynamic configuration and create the file name inside the mapping itself and pass it across.
To get an idea about the same, ref:

  • Problem getting calls and time stamp of calls

I'm just about to toss my iphone out the window!
I am having the same problems as others recieving calls when in sleep mode.
I can sometimes get them, but mostly 'miss' them.
THEN...to make matters worse, any time stamp on the calls I've 'missed' is the time I unlock my phone to view them, not when they actually come in.
Tonight I received 3 voice mails. 2 from this morning, one from yesterday.
    I don't get it....anyone have any suggestions?

Okay...thanks. I think the resetting took care of the time stamp problem.
As for the non-ringing, I may have solved that too.
I had wi-fi turned off. I did't think I needed to have it on as I was fine with AT&T. But with only At&T I was constantly seeing that little Edge symbol.
Once I turned on the wi-fi, the E went away and so far all of my test calls went through.
    Well, only time will tell.
Other than that, i love my phone!
