Does Logic Pro 9.0 work with Mac OS X Lion?

I don't want to update to Mac OS X Lion from Snow Leopard until I know 100% that Logic Pro 9.0.0 is compatible with it.
On a side note, would Final Cut Pro 7.0 work with Lion as well (I will not be upgrading to Final Cut Pro X)?
Thank you!

Okay peoples, I have great news!
I was told that maybe the update for Logic Pro 9.0.0 to 9.1.4 wasn't working for me because I must have renamed my software folder... and I remembered doing so back in 2010.
You see, my issue was:
I bought Logic Studio 8 (The big box with piano keys on the side) and then as soon as I did, Logic Pro 9 (the update version) came out. I was inclined to get the latest software, so I upgraded immediately. I remember wondering why my logic pro 8 stayed behind after the update so I foolishly renamed the folders "Logic Pro 8" and "Logic Pro 9" haha. Not knowing this would cause me grief later when I tried to update.
So, my Logic Pro 9 is working again fine. My only concern now is for the hardware (the Apogee Duet) I am using, as I have to wait for a Lion update in August, thankfully it is only a month away as apposed to 6
Cheers,
and I hope this helps.

  • Does Logic Pro X actually work with the Roland VS-20?

Hi all.  According to the support docs, the Roland VS-20 should work with Logic Pro X.  I've installed the latest drivers, the latest Logic plug-in for the VS-20, and the latest VS-20 Editor.  On occasion (and I have no idea what the magic formula is), I've gotten the controls and audio to work via the VS-20.  However, more often than not, the VS-20 controls (transport controls and faders) do nothing, and playing audio results in a horrible screeching through the VS-20.
A couple of other points of info:
The VS-20 always shows up correctly in the Control Surface and audio settings of Logic Pro X.
The VS-20 works fine in Reaper 4 as well as when only using the VS-20 Editor.
    I'm using Logic Pro X (10.0.3) on a 2012 MBPr w/ 2.6GHz i7 and 16GB RAM
Is anyone out there using this setup successfully?
    Thanks!

Roland was very helpful, even though their solution didn't actually work for me.  I sent them the same info as above, and here was the reply:
We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble. The VS-20 is definitely compatible with Logic Pro X. Be sure that you have setup the VS-20 in Logic Pro X according to the following instructions:
    Audio I/O Setup:
    1.     Select Logic Pro X in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences.
    2.     Click on “Audio...”
    3.     Under the Devices tab, set your Output Device and Input Device to “VS-20 44.1kHz”--if it is not already set.
Note: The sample rate of your Logic Pro X project must be 44.1kHz--as the VS-20 only operates in this sample rate.
    4.     Click “Apply Changes”.
    5.     Close the Preferences menu.
    Control Surface Setup:
    1.     Select Logic Pro in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences.
    2.     Navigate to Control Surfaces and then click on “Setup...” A Setup window will appear.
    3.     Click on “New” and then select “Install…” An Install window will appear.
    4.     Select “Mackie Designs (Manufacturer) / Mackie Control (Model) / Logic Control (Module) and then click “Add”.
Note: If prompted with the message “No new Devices found”, click on “Add Manually”.
    5.     In the Setup window, expand the Mackie Control section and assign both the Out Port and Input Port to “CONTROL”.
Note: If the Setup window does not appear, right-click on the Mackie mixer image and then select “Hide/Show Inspector”.
    6.     Close the Control Surface Install and Setup windows.
The VS-20 is now setup for Logic Pro X.
We hope this information is helpful! Please let us know if this does not resolve your issue and include as much information as possible regarding troubleshooting you have done and results you have received. We are happy to help you.
    Sincerely,
    Roland Product Support
These steps actually resulted in a situation where some of the buttons on the VS-20 triggered sounds instead of their intended functions.  I deleted everything and started over, this time picking the actual VS-20 option in the setup, and everything worked.
I should mention that I also (foolishly?) updated to Mavericks just before getting this to work.

When you say you cannot add the printer, with the Add Printer pane open, is the 6250 visible in the Default Add Printer view? If no then it could be the USB cable at fault and I suggest you try another cable.
If the printer is visible but the Mac fails to locate a driver when you select it then you may have to trash the contents of the BJPrinters folder (HD > Library > Printers > Canon) and then run the iX6250 driver installer again.

  • Final Cut Pro / Logic Pro Don't Work with MacBook Pro

I think it's pretty bad public relations that Apple would knowingly sell a new product that does not work with Logic 7.1 or Final Cut Studio, and not bother to tell you.
We found out the hard way when after a post-production editor spent 3 hours trying to reinstall the discs and called an Apple Support center. They informed us that because of Intel Chips we needed to replace our software completely and pay Apple a fee of $50 per title for this benefit.
I can live with spending $100 for software which is less than 1 year old (although I think Apple will be sued over this one if not their pathetic support of iPod batteries) but why is so hard for Apple Computers as a company to advise customers when software doesn't work?
For Apple to call this product a "Pro" product and support it with such pathetic disdain for the client and to not advise their so-called 'geniuses' of this (dare I use the word) "glitch" is really hilarious.
To 'fix' this problem, go to

I don't know what's worse, the fact that some of the replies here are completely immature and stupid, or the fact that some of you have hundreds of posts meaning that you don't seem to do anything else all day except stare at the Apple website and look for things to pick at.
I have a right as a consumer to complain, and no, this doesn't equate to buying beachfront property or the number of children I have relative to rooms in my house, it equates to whether or not Apple, as a company, feels it is important to notify customers in a meaningful way of changes within their product offerings.
I'm happy you all seem to have nothing else to do all day except stare at the Apple website, I personally would rather stare at that beachfront property in Big Sur.

  • Logic Pro 8 *can* work with 10.7 - some testing required!

This is just a separating out of a post I made in another thread try it out - see what works - and what doesn't!
"For those with Logic Pro 8 and 10.7 obviously,
Just humour me and go to your Applications folder.
Find your Logic Pro app and ctrl click (or right click on it)
    Then click 'show package contents'
Then in the resulting folder, double click on 'contents'
Then double click on 'Mac OS'
Finally double click on the file named 'Logic Pro'....
    What happens for you next??"
    -Rob

I've tried this (Mainstage) on both my home and mobile setups and there is one anomaly....
If I try to open a saved concert from the 'open recent concerts' menu item, nothing happens - However if I open a saved concert from the normal 'open' menu item, it all works as it should. Apart from that everything else 'just works'.
Obviously there is a variance between my findings and worshipvertical's, which is why I urge everyone to test for themselves to see what works and what does not.
If it works, great! You've saved a pot of money - If it does not work, I'm not sure I'd retain that much in the way of loyalty to the Logic platform, especially in view of the shorter and shorter enforced obsolescence periods that are now being forced upon us. Who knows where Apple is going next?
My opinions and findings, nothing more - or less

  • Logic Pro no longer works with Firewire 1814 after updating drivers

I was attempting to hook up 2 M-Audio Firewire 1814 units and use them from Logic Pro 7. The older driver I was using would actually crash with this configuration, and so I updated to the latest driver, thinking this might solve the problem.
Well, the M-Audio driver now comes up fine - I can even monitor the signal levels coming from both devices in the associated UI. However, when I launch Logic Pro, I get the following message:
"Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers."
Although I can arm some of the lower track numbers (I still get this message), I cannot do so with higher track numbers.
Effectively, installing the latest M-Audio driver has broken my version of Logic Pro for whatever reason.
Removing and reinstalling the driver made no difference.
    Any thoughts, anyone??

  • Are there any Updates for Logic Pro 9 to work with Yosemite?

I updated my iMac to the OS X Yosemite 10.10 and my M-Audio Fast Track board does not work with my Logic Pro 9.
Is there a way or Updates available to make them work together? I work with music and I am LOSING TIME AND MONEY on this...
    Thanks for ANY help

It's not Logic 9 that's the problem, if the M-Audio device is not compatible with Yosemite Core Audio (which I don't believe it is) no version of Logic will be able to use it. Before any upgrade of main applications or operating system one needs to check and see if all related hardware is supported. Hopefully you have a backup of your last working configuration.

  • Does PRE9 work with Mac OS X Lion?

Does anyone use, together, Mac OS X Lion and Adobe Premiere Elements 9? Do they work well together? I am using Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Adobe Premiere Elements 9, and I am thinking of making the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion, but since in the webpage http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/systemreqs/ mentions "Mac OS X v10.5.8 through v10.6" (on 2011-08-25, 08:25 Greek-time) I was wondering if the work well together.

Nice to know! One more question: did you have Adobe Premiere Elements 9 already installed with OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and after upgradigh OS X to 10.7 (Lion) version it just kept working? Thanks in advance!

  • Does Final Cut Express 4 work with mac mini and other questions...?

I have a few questions I need help in answering... I would appreciate opinions on the following:
I am about to make a purchase of a new mac. I already have a mac mini PPC, but it is too slow...
Here is what I am thinking.
Mac mini, 2GB mem, 160GB hard drive. Will this new mac mini work with Final Cut Express 4?
Or should I go with the more powerful iMac?
I like to make movies on my mac but I hate iMovie 08 so I constantly use iMovie HD 06. Should I go to Final Cut Express 4 or just stick with iMovie HD 06?

There is no doubt that FCE 4 will run on an Intel mini - the GMA graphics processor is compatible. There is also no doubt that an iMac would give you somewhat better overall performance, though it's important perhaps to note that as complex as FCE is, it is actually a little less demanding on hardware than iMovie has traditionally been, so the difference between a mini with 2Gb RAM and a similarly equipped iMac will not be all that great in FCE, though it will become a little more noticeable if you continue to use iMovie 6.
The main reason for the performance difference between iMovie and FCE is that in order to provide a reasonably sophisticated video editing package that will run on very basic hardware, Apple relied heavily on caching techniques, meaning that while FCE basically spools from video and relies on CPU power, iMovie constantly moves data to and from the hard drive. The mini's hard drive is a (relatively) slow device in comparison to the iMac's - thus the iMac runs iMovie rather more seamlessly. In FCE, the difference is, as said, rather less clear unless you were to go for the top-end model.
If your budget can stretch to an iMac it makes sense to go that route simply because the extra power and overall performance (and the better graphics processor) will give you greater flexibility down the road. On the other hand, if funds are tight and you need to spend as little as reasonably possible, a mini will do fine, and is sufficient;y inexpensive that in a couple of years could be sold off and replaced without severe financial implications.
In terms of the choice between FCE or iMovie, beware that if you haven't used FCE before, the transition is not easy, and the learning curve for it is pretty steep. That said, it has far greater power and flexibility in terms of what you can achieve with it than has ever been possible with iMovie.
That said, for casual and home use, iMovie (version 6 at least) has plenty of power and tools for the majority of projects. iMovie 8 is, in many ways, deeply flawed for those who want that sort of power and workflow tools, being that it is designed for quick and easy creation of movies, not creative and considered productions. It has it's uses, but if you have experience with iMovie already, v8 is really not intended for you at all.
All that said, I've used iMovie 6 on systems will a lot less power than the current Intel minis, and have found it stable and workable, so I have no doubt it would work well on any current Mac.

  • Why is it that Adobe CS2 software will not work with Mac OS Mountain Lion? What do I do?

Why is it that I must pay more money to upgrade my Adobe software so that it will work with Apple Mac OS Mountain Lion. Is it that Adobe wants to wring every cent out of me in order for me to use there products? Or should I just delete the Adobe software from my system and forget about Adobe and find something else?

Waynjer61 please see the system requirements for Creative Suite 2 listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195856.
The largest issue which is preventing you from utilizing Creative Suite 2 on your current computer is the switch which was made from PowerPC processors to Intel processors.  This coupled with Apple dropping Rosetta support, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_(software), which previously allowed Intel processors to utilize applications coded for PowerPC processors is the main cause of Creative Suite 2 no longer functioning under newer operating systems.
