Does LVM 2.0 support MSSQL Server Alias?

Dear All
Is it possible to manage a MSSQL Server Alias from within SAP LVM 2.0?
Will LVM 2.0 detect any change if the alias is changed using the MSSQL tools?
Thank you for your input :-)
Kind regards
Lucas

Hi Lucas,
There no out-of-the-box solution for this however, you can implement this using a custom hook/operation/notification in LVM.
Basically custom hooks/operations/notifications help you write your own scripts/procedures and integrate them with LVM to extend the standard functionality of LVM.
For example: you could define your own custom notification that would notify you whenever the alias changes and you will see the notification inside LVM (or) you could define a custom hook that is implicitly invokes during a system start/stop operations which checks for the new alias during startup.

Hope this helps.

  • Does Safari on iPad support SNI (Server Name Indication)

    Hi,
I am testing name-based virtual host with apache 2.2 over SSL and noticed that this is only supported using SNI (server name indication). I have updated openSSL to include the SNI extensions on the apache but the client browser is also required to support this. I wanted to know if there is any indication as to when SNI will be supported by the Safari browser on iPad and/or if anyone else has experienced this issue.
I know of 1 additional work around is to use wildcard certs but I am not to keen on using those unless I really have to.
I verified that this is not support by hitting the site: https://sni.volex.ch from the iPad safari browser - it fails. However, using Opera on iPad worked.
    Thanks

From what I understand SNI is largely reliant on client support. It is just an extension of the TLS SSL protocol. One of our Escalation Engineers wrote up a pretty good post explaining SNI.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/applicationproxyblog/archive/2014/06/19/how-to-support-non-sni-capable-clients-with-web-application-proxy-and-ad-fs-2012-r2.aspx
"SNI is an extension to the TLS SSL protocol that allows the client to include the Hostname the client is connecting to in the SSL Client Hello. A server can then use the SNI header to determine which certificate to serve to the client. A key benefit
of SNI is that is allows a server to host multiple certificates on the same IP/port pair instead of needing an IP per certificate (assuming you are using port 443)."
A few questions I would have is what client and browser combination have you attempted on this? Also, are you using a wildcard certificate on your Web Listener? Have you taken network traces to see if client is sending SNI? Ian does a good job of explaining
how to do that in his blog post.

  • Does ASA rdp Plugin supports windows server 2012?

    HI,
I am using rdp plugin for ssl vpn, it is working fine for windows server 2003 but same plugin is not working for server 2012.
Can you please tell me does it supports or not. Is there any changes we need to do at server side?

    Hi Guna,
There is an enhancement request opened for supporting RDP plugins on Windows server 2012.

  • Acrobat 9 pro support windows server 2003 32bit?

in the acrobat 9 pro readme file,I see the system requiement:
    Windows Server® 2003 (with Service Pack 2 for 64-bit);
my question is that does acrobat 9 pro support windows server 2003 32 bit?
I have install it at windows server 2003 32bit,
but when i open it, a message box
"Licensing for this product has stopped working"
i have try the solution in kb405970, and can not resolve it.
so manybe really it doesn't support windows server 2003 32 bit?

John makes some very good points but I would like to clarify one thing from his post: you are planning three migrations:
    1. From 32bit -> 64bit
    2. From Windows to Linux
    3. From Oracle 10gR2 to 11gR2
The second of these is the one most liekly to give you grief. You certainly should not attempt to combine it with a database upgrade. Either move the database to RHEL and then upgrade it, or upgrade it on Windows and then move it to the new server.
Of these, the first is the least controversial. So it's a nice point whether it is worth upgrading from Windows 32bit to Windows 64bit prior to moving to Linux.

  • Transact-SQL debugger not working in SQL Server 2008: "...debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier..."

I have recently installed SQL Server 2008. When I try to execute a query against an Access database, I receive this debugging error:
"Unable to start Transact-SQL debugger. The Transact-SQL debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier versions of SQL Server. (SQLEditors)"
Nor will the query execute; I get a transport-level error 0. Any thoughts?

    Hi Davidmhjr,
    >>Unable to start the Transact-SQL Debugger. The Transact-SQL Debugger does not support SQL Server 2005 or earlier versions of SQL Server. (SQLEditors).
Have you tried to restart the server once you have installed SQL Server 2008? As Naomi N mentioned please check the version of SQL Server you are using.
If you tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2008 SSMS, you would not be able to debug and get this error, it happens because T-SQL debugger includes both server-side and client-side components. The server-side debugger components are installed
with each instance of the SQL Server 2008 Database Engine. The client-side components are installed when you install the SQL Server 2008 client-side tools.
So it works with SQL Server 2008 only so far. Another way is you can triy to use SQL Server 2005 SSMS to connect to SQL Server 2005.
More information about configuration requirement to run T-SQL debugger as below, please refer:
There are no configuration requirements to run the Transact-SQL debugger when SQL Server Management Studio is running on the same computer as the instance of the SQL Server Database Engine. However, to run the Transact-SQL debugger when SQL Server Management
Studio is running on a different computer from the instance of the Database Engine, you must enable program and port exceptions by using the Windows Firewall Control Panel application on both computers.
On the computer that is running the instance of the Database Engine, in Windows Firewall, specify the following information:
•Add TCP port 135 to the exceptions list.
•Add the program sqlservr.exe to the exceptions list. By default, sqlservr.exe is installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.InstanceName\MSSQL\Binn, where InstanceName is MSSQLSERVER for the default instance, and the instance name for
    any named instance.
•If the domain policy requires network communications to be done through IPsec, you must also add UDP port 4500 and UDP port 500 to the exception list.
On the computer that is running SQL Server Management Studio, in Windows Firewall, specify the following information:
•Add TCP port 135 to the exceptions list.
•Add program ssms.exe (SQL Server Management Studio) to the exceptions list. By default, ssms.exe is installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE.
    Hope it is helpful.

  • Does LabVIEW DSC 8.5 support Windows Server 2008?

    Hi,
I am developing a SCADA system using LabVIEW DSC 8.5. Apparently, customer wants the Server Computer to be latest Windows Server 2008 operating System.
But the Release and Upgrade note specify that DSC Module does not support Windows NT/Me/98/95/Server 2003. (System Requirement section)
Does it support Windows server 2008?
    Any feedback most appreciated.
Message Edited by Vsh on 09-28-2009 08:56 AM

    Hi Vsh
Sadly no version of LabVIEW (and therefor no modules like DSC either) officially supports Server 2008. That has however not stopped people from trying and I've seen both cases were it has worked fine and cases were it has not worked. This thread might be of interest to you.

  • Does ms office 2010 support in windows server 2008r2

    Hi
I required the information regarding that does ms office 2010 support in  windows server 2008r2 edition & if support then how can i down load the office service pack for the same.

Yes, you can install Office 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). For the system requirements for Office 2010, please refer to this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624351(v=office.14).aspx
Microsoft now no longer offers a download from their site, however, if you already have a product key of Office 2010, you can get Office 2010 installation package from this website:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/microsoft-office-2010-backup-FX101853122.aspx . If you don’t have a product key, I would suggest you to try the new Office – Office 2013, which also can be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
For more information about the new Office, please check on this site:

  • Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 support Windows Server 2008 LDAP?

Does AsyncOS 6.5.1-005 for the E-mail Security Appliance support Windows Server 2008 authentication?

    Hello rklebano,
Can you give some more side information? What are you pointing at, can you explain what you try to accomplish and what the problem is you are facing?
To share some of my experiences with you: I have queried a Win2k8 domain from a non Windows host (a Perl script running on Linux) using basic authentication. If you make sure your windows policy allows basic authentication for the userID you are using it will work. You can even query your Global Catalog, which is better indexed, using this logon type.
If you are forced to use MS propriety logon types I assume that Ironport will not be able to connect.
    Steven.
    Hi Steven,
We are trying to achieve a native Server 2008 AD domain. Unfortunately our WSA and ESA's are unable to use Server 2008 domain controllers to authenticate against. The WSA have a preview version of AsyncOS 6.0 (Aurora) that supports 2008 AD authentication. I was wondering if there was a version of the AsyncOS for the ESA that supports that as well.

    Hi,
There is no known limit number of CAs.
    You go to

And you can create for sure more than 100 CAs.

  • Does PB 12.6 support to use other connection method (e.g. OLEDB) MS SQL server 2012 ?

    Hi
I checked following page and I understood that PB 12.6 supports native connection for connecting to MS SQL Server 2012.
Latest database native drivers supported by PowerBuilder 12.6
      http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SYBPB/Latest+database+native+drivers+supported+by+PowerBuilder+12.6
But there is no info about other connecting methods (e.g. OLEDB).
Does PB 12.6 support to use them ?
And is there a info of it ?
    Thanks.
    Tsuyoshi Yagi

    Hi Tsuyoshi;
    1) FYI: OLE-DB and ODBC are examples of "middle-ware" and are not a direct connection to any DBMS vendor!
    2) The true native client connection to SS is SNC (SQLServer Native Client). That connection mechanism is supported in PB.
Note: You could also use JDBC or ADO.Net as well from PB. Personally, I always use SNC for the best performance and supported DML functionality.

  • Does anyone know if OS X Lion will support Exchange Server 2007?

I'm trying to find out if OS X Lion will support exchange server 2007. I cannot find any information regarding this on the web so I'm trying here. The only information I can find is that Lion supports exchange 2010 but nothing about 2007. I hope someone can help.
PS. I had to post here as there isn't a OS X Lion community yet. Sorry if this isn't appropriate.

Nobody knows that could tell you.  Exchange server has some support under Snow Leopard's built-in Mail client, as well Microsoft Outlook (part of Microsoft Office 2011 for the Mac), as well webmail support through several web browsers for the Mac.    Any Intel Mac, which Lion runs can also run Windows in virtualization.  See my FAQ* on those options if none of the options above work in Lion:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#WINTEL
I'm sure by the end of July there will be a more definitive answer, assuming Apple keeps to its set date.

  • Resource manager does not seem to support failover

The resource manager, TMS_ORACLE, does not seem to support SQLnet's transparent
application failover (TAFO). The way this supposed to work is that if the DB connection
is lost, SQLnet detects it, and establishes a new connection in accordance with
the 'failover_mode' settings in your 'tnsnames.ora' file. It works fine for Oracle
tools like sqlplus, and also for the Tuxedo servers we created. However, the resource
manager doesn't seem to detect the loss at all, which renders our application
    useless. Anybody seen this one?

(in our case OCI programs) work perfectly after failover, XA
applications go at the same time crazy (mysterious OCI errors with
strange or no description repeated forever).
IIRC we also noted, that XA server is not provided with the callback
which inform about failing over. Probably it is provided to TMS_ORA.
Nevertheless, there is thing which seems promising: non-failover TNS
alias + setting the server to TPEXIT on (most) Oracle errors (so the
server restart on error and then choose the database which works).
But we did not perform any heavy testing, so in case you experiment
with it more, please share your experiences.
By the way: it is still very unclear to me what TMS_ORA does on
database failure. Using Oracle 8.0.* () I observed that TMS_ORA kept
running after database restart, rejecting all the transactions
received by the server (without even notifying it). Using Oracle 8.1.*
it is better (probably thanks to Oracle 'silently reconnect'
functionality), but ... it is Oracle who improved a bit. We even
opened support case asking for the clarification but the answer didn't
    helped much :-(
