Does Mac OS X Server 10.5.1 Leopard Weblogs support external editors?

Most specifically, can I edit Mac OS X Leopard weblogs with MarsEdit?

Yes. For help in setting this up, click the Help Link and search for blog editing application.

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

  • Does Mac OS X Server 10.6 Auto Configure a Connected Airport Basestation?

I just finished an install of Snow Leopard Server on a new Mac Mini. A 1TB Airport Time Capsule is directly connected to the Mini via Ethernet (and our cable internet modem is also directly connected via Ethernet to the Time Capsule).
I have a static IP address.
During the installation of the server onto the Mini there seemed to be a period during which the server took control of the Airport device and auto-configured it then reset it. At first, it seemed that all services were available externally (i.e. web) from the internet.
However, I may have been wrong as now none of the services respond from outside the network.
I thought that Mac OS X Server would automatically configure an attached Airport device. Is that correct? Or must I work through the Airport device and manually configure all of the port settings to enable external access?

First off I would check the console and see what it says when you try to log in with the admin account. It will give a message saying what the issue is.
Also is this a local admin or a network admin account?

  • Does mac os/os server support parallel or multiprocessing?

Looking for the simplest way to increase processing power for some projects and have several mac desktops. Was wondering if mac os or os server support parallel or multiprocessing?

No, you cannot combine multiple computers to increase total processing power. Apple no longer supports the software for it.

  • Why does Mac force boot to the recovery partition even when an external recovery option is selected? This disables the option of reformatting the internal drive because it is in use running the recovery partition.I have yet to find a viable solution.

To make a very tedious story short, My Mac decided that it would crash and not reboot the OS. I decided to bite the bullet and just reformat, sacrificing my very important data. I have tried just about every trick in the book. There is one one major problem I am facing. When I try to reformat the internal HDD using Disk Utility. It fails to unmount. "Make sure that all applications and files are closed on this disk.", Suggesting that the computer is ignoring my command at startup to boot from my external recovery drive, and  using the Recovery partition on the problem drive, making it impossible to reformat the drive.  When the internal drive is removed and connected by another method it is not recognized.
I failed to read the fine print on the box that  suggested I purchase another Mac to fix problems with my primary Mac because any utility with the potential to fix the problem can only be run on a functioning Mac.

Booting to any version of the Recovery system, the built in partition on the internal drive, a recovery partition on an external drive or from the Online internet system will not stop you from formatting the Macintosh HD partition on the internal drive. So your problem is not that you are booting from the internal Recovery HD partition. It is probably your internal hard drive has problems, failing.
You could try booting the system from the Online system. At startup hold down the Option/Alt + Command + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. That will boot the system from across the internet from the Apple servers completely removing the internal drive as a boot source. If you still can't erase and format or repartition and format the internal drive then your drive has problems and will need to be replaced.

  • Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard - Webdav setup?

Could someone give me a run-through on what is needed to set up webdav or a link to same? On this server, I've got groups with shared folders, and users who can access at least one group each. I'd like to be able to have the users get web access to these same folders.
    Thanks, Ian

More words around the commands used, errors seen, tools involved, etc, please?
Why do I ask for that? This stuff works as expected here.
Here's what I did to get connected with a test server. First, get Apache going and enable WebDAV, both via Server Admin. Then (on the client) select Go > Connect To Server in Finder, and specify the WebDAV server via http or https as the target. The wheels spin for a bit as the connections are made, and Bob's Your Uncle.
I'm going to presume you have DNS going, but (if not) start there.

  • Upgrading mac os X server from panther to leopard on xserve

    Hi,
I've actually got a xserve G4 and one G5. Both running on MacOS X server 10.3.9.
I plan to upgrade to 10.5 because a lot of clients are now running on MacOS X 10.5.
I don't find informations on Internet on this situation, and how to do this upgrade correctly. (always about non-server version on macOS).
Can you advise me on that?
Should a migration intermediary to 10.4?
Is there something that I must think before ?
Do you know of sites that speak about this?
    Thanks you,
    Fabien

I would seriously consider installing 10.5 server fresh rather than trying to upgrade. You can try Passenger
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/networking_security/passenger.html
to move users and passwords, but there are a lot of pitfalls you may encounter, and a clean install may actually be faster.

  • VPN Settings Gone After Update to Mac OS X Server 10.5.4

For the second time, a point upgrade of Mac OS X Server 10.5.x Leopard has resulted in all VPN settings being wiped out and the service being shut off. Has anyone else had this experience, and if so, does anyone know if there is a known cause (which might be avoided)?

Please open terminal and post the output of postconf -n
Also, it would be useful to see log extracts from /var/log/mail.log and /var/log/mailaccess.log showing rejected mails.

  • RADIUS Server on Mac OS X Server 10.5 Leopard

I must set up a Radius Server on my LAN and WLAN, I will do this with Mac OS X Server v.10.5 Leopard but I don't know if it's compatible with any routers(for LAN and WLAN Access) and with Windows XP Pro SP3 computers.
    Can anyone help me????

I know this question is fairly old but I can now state that as of last night I am using a Netgear WN802T - 200 access point paired with the RADIUS service on a Leopard Server.
Leave the "type" of station either blank or other for Netgear.
Accounting does not seem to work and throws errors in the radiusd log, but other than that the Mac clients and iPhones show a WPA2 Enterprise connection.
    Your mileage may vary.

  • Where to get Mac OS X Server 10.5 (Leopard Server)?

    Hi All,
My colleague is an ADC Member (paid a couple hundred dollars for this). He was able to download Mac OS X Server 10.6 (Snow Leopard) for FREE. He tried to search for a link to download Mac OS X Server 10.5 (Leopard Server) but could not find anything.
As an ADC Member, is there any way to request a link to download Leopard Server for FREE?
We need Leopard Server for development purposes.
    Thank your very much.

    Hi

and ask the question. I somehow doubt it but you never know? I think it's still possible to purchase Leopard Server through Service Support rather than Sales? Otherwise you're probably looking at buying it from the Web:

  • Does iPhoto on the iPad support the use of an external editor?

I would like to use an external editor in iPhoto on my iPad, but can't seem to find anyway to do this.
    Is it supported?

iPhoto for iOS is not quite like the desktop version. It does not have the ability to directly send photos to an external editor but the photos it shows are simply your camera-roll photos. Any photo editor app should have access to your camera roll and all your photos. When you save out an edited photo you'll simply get a new photo added to your camera-roll it will not repalce the original. As long as the editor app you are using saves out to the camera-roll iPhoto will be able to read those newly edited photos.

  • PSE does not show iTunes external editor

I have PSE installed (ver. 9.0.3) but it does not show in the drop down box in itunes for external editor.  Am I missing something?

Did you download the iLife 903 updater? If so, run the installer. It facilitates the communication between apps like iPhoto and iTunes.

  • MAC Server & iTunes : Does MAC Server support central iTunes repositories?

    I need some help
    Problem:
I have a family of "5" who are all MAC users - all alas have different MAC iTunes repositories. I want to create a central MAC Music repository to ease the pain on my checkbook. Three people bought Nora Jones new Album... one person pays - me
    Setup:
    Potential Server:
    BIGMAC1:
Dual Proc Power PC G4 1.25 Mhz, 1 gb RAM
Gig Ethernet Connectivity with 4 Terabytes of RAID storage.
    Clients:
    5 MAC's... (Mac Mini, 24" iMac (intel), 2 Mac Book Pro's (Intel), and a 12" Power PC)
    Current Setup:
I use symbolic links from the desktops to BIGMAC Music repository.
    Mount BIGMAC1 Disk via network
    Open System preferences
    Open Accounts
    Open login items
    Drag BIGMAC1 to login items
    Open iTunes
    <Backup iTunes music directory>
    Select preferences / advanced
Turn off “keep itunes organized” and “copy files to itunes” on all clients
    Exit
    For each user
    Delete <User>/Music/iTunes/”iTunes Music”
    ln –s /Volumes/”BigMAC1 Disk”/Music ./<User>/Music/iTunes/”iTunes Music”
Copy any purchased music to BIGMAC1
    Open iTunes on Client
    Delete Music library in iTunes
    Select add to library
    Select /Volumes/”BigMAC1 Disk”/Music
Once complete your all using the same repository
Issue: If someone adds new music you have to know and add it to you your library…
This works but every so often some family member does something that duplicates all the files in iTunes. I suspect this is something to do with consolidate music library options. "Picture Homer Simpson looking frustrated"
    Help: Is their Recommended Solution?
The above sort of work but is not perfect and I am not a "nerd". I need to maintain my social skills and would love to know if I can just install MAC Server or something equivalent and fix this.
In short: Does MAC Server solve this or does something else?
Hey Apple: I would line up and buy a solution if one existed...
    1. MAC Server in basement… access to music from PC around house. Music ordered is stored on basement PC and backup automatically…
    2. The ability to add a fourth child under account (MAC limit 5 machines to one iTunes Account)
Apple: I am not breeding until you allow me to purchase another person to the family music account…. You would stunt their childhood if this is not fixed...
    TechnoPhobe!

Your solution is as good as any to let you share iTunes tracks, especially ones purchased from the iTunes store amongst multiple users on a single computer.
If you had multiple computers, you could use the built-in sharing function of iTunes and then access them from the other computers, but the other computers would also need 'authorising' to play the protected tracks.
However there is something else you could consider. Have all the music and protected files on one computer, share it using iTunes, and access it using the new TV box. You could have multiple TV boxes and they would not need authorising to play the protected tracks. They would also not modify your iTunes files causing the problems you have occasionally experienced.
There are other similar approach devices like the Roku Soundbridge, Sonos ZonePlayer, SlimDevices Squeezebox but none of those support tracks purchased from the iTunes store whereas the TV does.

  • How does the "OS X Server" work on the Mac Mini and other devices?

Hey guys. I'm looking to sell my MBP for a Mac Mini. It will be for photography. Down the road I'll get a MBA 13 and sooner than that, a iPad Mini 2.
I'm a little confused with the functions of file sharing on my current laptop. In Preferences>File Sharing, everything is ticked on, but I can't connect my iPhone via bluetooth to send files. I don't have another Mac computer to grab files from to test. When I have the Mini, MBA, and iPad, I'll be transferring photos back and forth, along with other files like word documents for school.
-Do I need to have the Server Mini to do those sorts of things? (if not, how do I do them?)
-What exactly does the "OS X Server" mean?
-How can I send files easily from Mac to iPhone/iPad
-Is the $200 price bump mainly for the additional HDD?
Please list any other helpful info regarding this stuff. thanks
The reason I'm choosing a Mini over and iMac is because it'll be easier to sell down the road if I decide to upgrade to a Mac Pro. As well as it being cheaper for me to get two screens.

iDevice Bluetooth data transfers are individually app based
and only transfer from one iDevice to another running the
same apps.  The only other ways are via iCloud for Apple
apps or or possibly other WiFi connections with specific apps
to companion apps on the Macs or syncing the apps via
    WiFi sync or USB sync.
So, the Server app does nothing to change this.
File sharing between a MBA and a Mini, however, is as simple
as setting up file sharing and setting up the proper permissions
on the folders you wish to share.  For simple file sharing, there is
no need for the Server app.

  • Mac OS X Server v10.7 does not show the ethernet link aggregated interface I created in Server Hardware Network Dialogue window. Are link aggregated ethernet connections not supported in Lion Server?

Mac OS X Server v10.7 does not show the ethernet link aggregated interface i created. Does Lion server support ethernet link aggregated interfaces?

    Thanks for responding Cold--
Hardware: Mac Pro  3.0 GHZ quad core xeon
I read the link but it still does not explain why the aggregated dual ethernet interface does not show up in the Network tab of the hardware section Lion Server. I was able to see it on the network and looks to be using a single static IP that I assigned. My concern was that is this supported and will it allow for failover and double performance of the single network interface.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks again!
