Do you want to run Outlook on your iMac if you do then sure you only need a license of MS Office for Mac 2011 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Hi, to everybody who has a problem with the scanner MP600 on Mavericks. Found a way how it works:
Uninstall and Reinstall the software according to the instruction that Candacefae gave us. Instead pick software and driver for Lion including MP Navigator. Then Restart Computer. After done click on Application folder and Canon Utilities. Then click on MP Navigator. And voila. You can scan.
A little annoyance but it works. Keep in mind - clicking on System Preferences and Open Scanner will not work!
For everybody else who does not want to deal with all the steps there is always Vuscan - just cost $79.95 for the Premiumversion. Works with all Models no matter how old.

We are NCR resellers of a point of sale software called CounterPoint. It runs on Windows 7 and its foundation is SQL.
Has anyone run SQL and Windows 7 on a MAC with the PC software capabilities.

Does Mac support the printer CANON MP 520 fully

Hi, i downloaded the drivers available for the canon printer. the printer work fine, its just that i cant get into the printer settings. therefore, i cant actually change specific attributes, for example i cant change the printer to print only black and white only using black ink, so my printer is always using all 4 colours.
does anyone know a solution to my issue? would greatly be appreciated as i hope i don't have to buy another printer.

yea i looked into that, thats normally where the settings for the printer would be. but when i click the little triangle it really only gives me a limited amount of customizable settings. like maybe 20% of everything i can do.
i know because on windows, once downloaded, it comes with an icon that says "my printer" and in there you can change a lot of things. i cant seem to get those printer settings on the mac.
i went to the canon drivers for mac and i think i shows the 'my printer' driver that can be installed but it doesn't have OSx listed as compatible. i find that strange because if everything else is compatible except that particular one, and thats the most important!
any other ideas?

You'll either need to install Flash from the Adobe website just like you did on your PC, or install Google Chrome, which has Flash built-in.
Your difficulty my reside in the security settings of your Mac. Open SYSTEM PREFERENCES, select SECURITY & PRIVACY, and check under the GENERAL tab that ALLOW APPS DOWNLOADED FROM: is set to "Mac App Store and identified developers." Then go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, and click the INSTALL NOW button. A .DMG file will be downloaded to your DOWNLOADS folder. Single-click the .DMG file. The double-click INSTALL ADOBE FLASH PLAYER. If you get a permissions error, then you may need to change the ALLOW APPS for "Anywhere".

Does MAC support Virtual Desktop like Linux?

I was a Windows user, it's very easy to address a Window in XP on the taslbar. With MAC, I have difficulty. F9 is cool, but still not as easy as hover mouse over taksbar.
I wonder if MAC will do Virtual Desktop thing like Linux, so at least I can send different windows to different desktop for easy use.

There are a number of apps available on http://www.versiontracker.com that allow you to create and manage virtual desktops. I haven't used any, but a quick search brought up about 4 or 5.

Why does Apple Support Communities software burn up my processor?

I waited awhile for the pages to load & for things to quite down. I brought up Google.com in all three web browsers. I noticed that the google.com web page uses a lot less processor power when idle.

No one is likely to recommend where you buy your software from other than Adobe in these forums... not so much because of support for Adobe, but mostly because of lack of support/knowledge of any third party vendors. I only know from experience that when you invest in bargain pricing you usually get what you pay for.

Web design software for Mac?

What is the best/easiest web design software for OSX Panther -- freeware/shareware or retail? I have a simple site I update once in a while (currently using an ancient copy of AOLPress on my old G3), so I don't need anything elaborate.

iWeb is probably the best easy-to-use, very simple, good looking and W3 validated code producing application out there.
It does allow you to export your data and upload via FTP, yet Apple is definitely trying to sell a few more .Mac memberships.
NVU is quite good for more complex websites.
If you're looking for a very efficient way of administrating your website, adding new content and all kinds of features, check out Joomla, a Content Management System . You do however need a server that supports php and MySQL.

Tuxera Version That Comes with HDTC705XK3A1 Does Not Support on Install on MAC OSX 10.9.2

The Tuxera version pre-installed (2012.3.6) on my hard drive does not support Mac OS X 10.9.2
I first looked at the support site and it says there isn't any updates for drivers & software for the Toshiba 500GB Canvio Connect Portable Hard Drive (HDTC705XK3A).
I am on OSX 10.9.2 and would like a working copy of Tuxera to use with my new Toshiba drive. Please advise where I get the updated version. Going to Tuxera requires buying a copy of the software.

I have the same problem after an upgrade to my iMac. Fortunitely, a wWindows machine will read your drive. I also have a new Macbook Pro with 10.9.3 on it and it loaded Tuxera correctly. Not sure why it works on one not the other. I wnet through the following steps:
After I upgraded my iMAC to Maverics, I could not see my NTFS drives in finder or on the desktop. I could see my NTFS drives in Disk Utility but they were grayed out and are not accessible. I could boot the iMac in Windows and have access to all of my NTFS drives.
I tried reinstalling the latest version, 2013.2, downloaded from your web page. I can see my NTFS drives but could not write to them. I then got the following message when the system started up, "invalid product key". When I opened Tuxera from the system preferences page I get the following message on the Activation page, "Current status: Invalid product key. Limited performance mode." I have tried reloading Texura from the Toshiba drive, but the process doesn't complete the last step.
As a last step, I uninstalled Tuxera and can not reinstall it. I get the message "The Tuxera NTFS for Mac installer could not detect your Toshiba External HDD. Please attach it to your Mac and run the installer again. I'm running the installer from the Toshiba drive so the installer should detect it.
Please note, I have a new Macbook Pro that came with Mavericks and I loaded Tuxera from the same Toshiba drive. It has no problems writing to it. The upgrade to Mavericks caused the problem.
