Does Macbook Pro Retina 13" 2014 work well on video editing ?

I plan to buy a new Macbook Pro Retina 13" 2014, so I want to ask whether it works well on video editing ? And does video editing heat the Macbook much ?

Hi Fedaja,
There is a section in both of these articles for troubleshooting connecting to the Internet even when you can connect to Wi-Fi.

  • Trouble installing Windows 8.1 on MacBook Pro Retina mid 2014

    Hi everyone
I recently bought a MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2014, 15", 2.8GHz, 1TB SSD) and wanted to install Windows 8.1 on it via bootcamp.
I have an official .ISO package of Windows 8.1 (it's x64, I checked), got it from MS Dreamspark as a student, and a valid serial number for it, of course.
Burned the image on a 16gb flash drive via bootcamp and proceeded to install. When asked by windows installer which partition to install on, selected bootcamp and clicked 'format', as it was recommended to do in various instructions on the internet (as it wouldn't install without formatting, I tried). The installation went good and finished, but immedeatly after that the installer gave me a notification "Impossible to update computer loading configuration, installation cancelled" (maybe it's not exactly like that, translated as accurately as I could, I'm installing windows in Russian).
I tried it twice, each time re-burning the installation drive. Got the same error each time.
All the software (OS X, bootcamp, etc.) is up to date, the macbook shouldn't have any problems as it was bought just a few days ago.
How can I solve this problem?

yes sorry if it ruin the ending of one of the youtube clips you will be witching if you have problems as how you install windows in bootcamp

I have a MacBook Pro retina 15" 2014 2.3 ghz with 16GB of RAM memory. My laptop crashes and restarts at least once a day. I bought it two months ago. This is the report I got just now when it crashed for the third time today:

    What should I do?

Thank you, but I read that this only applies to the United States. I live between Morocco and Saudi Arabia and I already went to an Apple authorized dealer in Saudi Arabia for a problem I had with my previous MacBook Pro, and they told him I had to ship it to the US to get repaired, nothing they could do in the country. It's why I have the new retina model, just didn't expect a daily crash. I just hope someone can look at the report and conclude what's wrong with the laptop. I suspected the RAM but the Memory Module parts of the report don't show an error there. So I'm not sure what's wrong.
I would get the 3-year extended warranty if it meant a direct support line but so far it's not activated where I live.

  • How do I activate continuity calls on my macbook pro? I have an iPhone 6 and Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 and I live in Dubai

I have an iPhone 6 and Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 and I live in Dubai, I bought my macbook from Canada and iPhone from UAE so it doesn't have FaceTime but i should be able to get calls on my mac right?

If you set your imessage off on your phone it will only turn it off on your phone i think I don't think it effects your mac. I'm not 100% sure on this though.
If you want to remove imessages from your mac  -  Open iMessage, go to Messages top left, and then select Preferences. Select "Accounts" and then simply "Sign out" That should do it.

  • IPhone 6 Plus 64GB (iOS 8.1 or 8.1.1) springboard crashes repeatedly when making phone calls via Continuity on Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 using Yosemite 10.10.1

I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems.  Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call.  Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1.  I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not.  I'm hoping Apple notices this post.  If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well.  Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.

I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists.

  • MacBook Pro Retina (Mid-2014) Cannot Boot Camp

    Hi all,
I'm running OS X Yosemite (10.10.2) on my MacBook Pro Retina 13" (Mid 2014). I have tried to boot camp the machine but it's not working. After boot camp assistant has created the Windows 8.1 installation disk and saved all the drivers and software onto my thumb drive, it will then request for me to choose the size of the partition. However at the last step when I click the "Install" button, my computer will restart and boot into OSX. In Disk Utility the BOOTCAMP partition is there, but in System Preferences BOOTCAMP is not listed as a Startup Disk. I have tried to restart the computer while pressing the option key, and startup manager appears. However under startup manager only Macintosh HD is recognised and my BOOTCAMP partition or windows installation USB both do not appear. I have tried to create a partition manually in Disk Utility and open Startup Manager again to install windows from my thumbdrive, but again both thumbdrive and windows partition do not appear. Please help.
    Thanks.

Since you have a Mid2014 MBP, the USB should contain the Windows installer and BC drivers. Make sure your USB is a USB2 flash drive/disk. USB3 will fail.
There should be no hubs between the USB and the MBP and no other external peripherals connected to the Mac.
However at the last step when I click the "Install" button, my computer will restart and boot into OSX.
This indicates that the Mac cannot find the USB with Windows ISO and BC drivers.

  • Wifi Problem iPhone 3Gs AND MAcBook Pro Retina 13" 2014

    Hey everyone,
I recently started to experience a problem with my wifi connection with both my apple devices (an old iPhone 3 Gs and a new Macbook Pro Retina 13''). Both are on the newest (availbe in case of the iPhone) Os X. Let me describe the circumstances:
I live in a house with 7 other students and the wifi router was quite far away, therefore I installed an ethernet connection with my laptop and tried to get used to a bad wifi signal on my iPhone. Well, at some point I was sick of that and installed an old router I found (Sweex LW050v2). For a time everything was working smoothly until other people in this house though they need another router on our floor and installed one (Sitecom0E5C02). As soon as they did that I started to have troubles on my iPhone and the Macbook as well (when I tried to use the wifi instead of the cable). The issue is not that I loose the wifi connection, but that I can not connect to the internet even though I have a connection to our wifi (I tried with all 3). In the beginning I though this was an issue with our router-setup (you can probably tell I am no expert) but at some point realised that I am the only one with a problem. Since then I have to disconnect from the wifi and connect again every time I loose the internet, which is now almost every 2 minutes!! Thus, my frustration and now me posting here with hopes of receiving help.
I would much appreciate help or constructive suggestions.
    Thank you

  • MacBook Pro Retina sound stopped working unless I put in and remove my headphones

I have a MacBook Pro Retina and the audio only works if I plug in my headphones and then pull them out. I hear the ding when I turn the computer on but nothing else once it's booted. Does anyone else have this issue? I confirmed that my sound settings are correct.

If you see a red light in the audio output port, then the headphones will be receiving the audio signal.  When you insert and pullout your headphones you are probably tripping an internal switch that was stuck and now enables the sound to come from the internal speakers.  This is a normal solution to that problem, but really should not occur.  A trip to the Apple store genius bar might be a good idea.  You still must be within the warranty period.
    Ciao/

  • Release date of MacBook Pro Retina in 2014

    Hello everyone,
I've got the idea of buying a MacBook Pro Retina 13". A friend of mine already has one - he bought it early in November 2013.
Because I already have an iMac 21" I am not in a rush buying the MacBook.
To be honest - I'm using my iMac but I'm no specialist in Apple hardware and so on. I know that Apple normally releases the hardware twice a year (early and late edition, right?).
That's why I want to know - does one of you know when the 2014 models will be released?
Would not make much sense to buy a MacBook (late 2013) now and six weeks later there's a new model. On the other hand, if you know that the next will be released in more than half a year, it makes no sense to wait.
I didn't find any information on the Apple website regarding this topic.
    Thanks!

  • MacBook Pro Retina (mid 2014) failing Memtest ?

    Hi !
I'm experiencing issues with my MB pro retina mid 2014 since I have it (1 month now) : kernel panic, reboots, freeze, and so on. As I have a little experience with computers, I thought it sound like a memory issue. So I ran memtest (from USB stick, and from the OS) after a complete reinstall (from the network).
Now, memtest from USB stick shows 10560 errors and freezes the computeur after 1h30. Memtest from the OS shows that :

*** Memory Test Failed *** Please check transcript for details.

I run the global Apple Hardware test that says there is probably an issue with a memory module.
Here's my trouble : I went to my nearest Apple Premium reseller, the tech guy says my Macbook has no issue, and is in perfect condition... he just made a test like in the terminal : yes something, to "stress" the memory. He says memtest isn't edited by Apple and its results are not relevant, and AHT is just a simple user diagnostic tool, but it's not relevant neither...
But I'm pretty sure AHT AND memtest can't be wrong ? What can I do ?

I have the same problem with MBP 15 retina 2013 late... I think something goes wrong.... ((((

  • LG Screen on Macbook pro retina late 2014

I had a previous retina macbook pro with samsung screen. Just bought the newly release Late 2014 Macbook pro retina 15' model. I found that this new one has LG Screen. Are they still bad and do they still have image burn-in issues.
Should i take it back to apple store.
    Madan

Just ordered a Retina MacBook Pro11,2 (mid-2014 15", 2.2GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, OSX 10.9.4 Pre-installed - Build 13E28)  and have the exact same issue.  The first thing I did when i booted it for the first time was enable FileValut2 and encrypt the disk.  Though I failed to notice this behavior prior to encrypting the disk, the stuttering/lag happens without fail every time I have logged in from a cold boot, locked screen or sleep. Additionally I have noticed the same stuttering behavior when switching tabs on various built-in OSX applications such as the tabs on the About This Mac > More Info.... (System Information) dialog for example, and similarly other dialogs that experience this behavior of resizing when switching tabs. I was running no other software than About This Mac > More Info ... (System Information) and OSX 10.9.4 itself.  The issue happens without fail with and without a USB mouse plugged in.
I am really glad to have found this thread and with such recent posts.  I'd love to find out that this is just a software bug that will be fixed when OSX 10.10 "Yosemite" is released.  If not, I hope the cause of this bug is determined soon so I can still exchange or have it repaired.
Migflono and Matthew, would you be able to post your hardware specs for comparison?

  • The Logic Board of my MacBook Pro Retina Display stopped working.

I purchased my MacBook Pro Retina Display 13 months ago. Barring a few errors the computer functioned beautifully, and I maintained it with the care it deserved. On Wednesday, last week, the laptop ceased to work completely. It wouldn't start, or charge. On submitting it for repair, I was informed that the logic board failed. Since its warranty lapsed a month ago, $1050 is required for its replacement. That outrageous amount is more than half of what I paid initially for the laptop. The service provider would not agree to any concession, or plea.
For an Apple enthusiast, it is very disheartening to learn that its foremost product stops operating in this manner. I am a high school senior, who has accustomed himself to his computer, and cannot at this time purchase a new laptop, let alone a Windows laptop. With college admission deadlines fast approaching, I solicit your help and suggestions, very desparately.

As much as it will suck to hear this answer, there really is no solution. Because the computer is now out of warranty, you have to pay the full $1050 to get the logic board replaced. I know this is a large sum of money, but you have to remember that the logic board includes the CPU, Graphics Card and RAM, all soldered onto the board. You're paying to replace all of the most expensive components of your computer, even if only one of them failed.
So, long story short, you'll have to either pay to replace the logic board, because it's out of warranty, or buy a new computer.
