Does Merge dimension button work on BI OLAP Universe webi reports

Hello all,
we are using BI 7.0 queries as our datasource for creating universes. When we are using the webi rich client to create a query, there is add query button and we are able to add query but once I add query I am not able see the Merge dimensions button active, is there some setting that is missing or this capability is not active for BI OLAP query universes?

Merge Dimension button is working on webi report based on OLAP universes.
Check you have the rights in CMC for merge dimension if it is happening all reports.
Under Home > BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications > Web Intelligence it is possible to set the Merge dimensions for synchronization right for groups and users.

I need to know how does Merge dimensions work in WebI when using SAP BI Query as source?
Below is my understanding when connection is defined for the universe on oracle database:
1) To get the data in merged dimensions, there must be physical join (Either Direct or vai some other tables) between different tables at backend level (This means there must be join between tables in Oracle database.)
2) we get the UNION of data when dimensions are merged at webI level.
I dont know how this works in SAP BI.
Since there is different data model defined for different BI Queries in SAP , and for each BI Query and there is seperate Universe, So how can you get correct data in WebI when there is no connections in DSO's used in different BI queries?
Can any one suggest me the way data apperas in merged dimensions for WebI created on SAP BI?

I assume we are only talking about merging dimensions in Web Intelligence here and not on the BW backend. this is a client side mere where you have 2 resultsets.
if you want to do this on the BI server side it would be a multi-provider combining different InfoProviders - or a InfoSet - depending on the join type you need. MultiProvider is a union, Infoset allows you to choose

What are the prerequisites for auto-merge dimension to work in Webi

Hello,
We're working with Webi rich client (WRC) r3.1 SP4 FP4.1, and we noticed some strange behaviour.
We have a report with 2 dataproviders based on the same universe, which have a year dimension in common (exact same name, same datatype). It is not the same year-object.
We expected that WRC would auto-merge those 2 year objects, but it doesn't and we're wondering what might be the cause.

As mentioned in my initial post, we're on BOXI 3.1 SP4 FP4.1.
What you are describing is the principal of "manual" merging, my question is related to the automatic merging.
I would like to know this, because we're having problems working out a working example for drilling in Webi using query drill with multiple dataproviders and merged dimensions. And we're assuming that the drilling accross the multiple dataproviders is only possible when automerge is active. Because all dataproviders need changes is the where clause of the queries to limit the scope of analysis during the drilling.

How does this radio button work?

The attached code is from LabVIEW7.1 example. I just can't figure out how does the 'green' button connect with the 'case green'? Do I need to change the properties of the radio button?

Just make the radio control a bit larger and drop in another boolean control (pick ANY!) from the palette. Repeat as needed.
The radio button control automatically ensure that only the last clicked boolean is true. (see attached, LabVIEW 7.1)

Live Office does not retain the Custom Sorting applied in a Webi report

Hi,
We have a Webi report in which we applied "Custom Sorting" to sort the Business Names in the required order. However, when we import that to excel using live office, excel doesnt retain the same format and there are not much options that are available within xcelsius to do the sorting. I have gone through various posts here but none resolved this specific issue.
Here is our environment:
Xcelsius 4.5
Live Office Frame work 11.5.5.525
BOXI R2 SP1 and MHF1
I tried using different options under "Report View formatting" within live office options but none seem to have made any difference. Unfortunately we can't make any changes to the universe in this case. I checked for few paid addon's but they seem to be for Xcelsius 2008. We have a release next week and would appreciate if any of you can guide me to solve this issue.

i can just tell you that i had no issues with custom column sorting in webi with Enterprise XI 3.0 and Xcelsius 2008.

Is query running fine in BEx Analyzer.
In BEX under the Advance tab in Properties to allow access to BOBJ, we have the "Allow External Access to this Query" please make sure it is checked.

How does RSS SUBSCRIBE button work?

Hello folks,
I am wondering, how do I input the information about my RSS feed, (like URL, etc.) into RSS SUBSCRIBE button. I insert this RSS BUTTON onto my podcast page, that's great. But how that button knows what URL of that feed is? What I mean is, don't I need to assign the information about my feed to that button somehow? I just don't understand, how would viewer be able to subscribe to my podcast by clicking on RSS SUBSCRIBE button when I did not assign feed URL to it. I have tried to find something in INSPECTOR, but I did not find any tools how to do this.

yes I had tried it on actual website, however, it was just very quick test, because I have that site for something completely different. But this is the scenario of what happened:
website URL is www.icebergfilms.com
on that server I have a folder named: PODCAST and inside there is the feed called: bcoutdoor.xml
All podcast episodes are also inside this folder.
So when I paste this URL: http://www.icebergfilms.com/podcast/bcoutdoor.xml into iTunes, it uploads and plays that podcast fine. But when I publish my site (into the folder) with iWeb, typing www.icebergfilms.com into that box, and then upload it onto that server, the feed does not work if you click on SUBSCRIBE BUTTON.
That's what does not make sense to me, how would iWeb know to look for bcoutdoor.xml if I don't actually give it that information. (unless it just automaticaly looks for any .xml file on the server and makes link to it)
I would expect to have some tool in iWeb, how to assign ot attach that feed to that SUBSCRIBE BUTTON, but there in none.

I want my Facebook like button to "like" a page on Facebook, but when I enter a URL it doesn't work. Do I just go to the Facebook page I want to link to and copy what is in the browser dialog box there? Sometimes is has numbers in it. Do I need to be an administrator of the page to do this or something?

Sorry about this, but I'm not seeing how to make this work yet. My client
says everything is on for all followers, and when I put in the URL I just
get an error message when clicking on the button on the website.
I also have problems with the widget jumping around on the page....it
doesn't always stay where I put it unless there is nothing around it, like
the box can't be touching anything else. Is that normal?

I suggest you to wait before buying an Isight or any webcam on Mac. I haven't been able to make video communication with other MSN users. MSN for mac doesn't offer video functionality. I've tried third pary MSN clients : aMSN, Mecury, but without success.
I'm afraid there's no solution at the moment. I've posted several messages, but nobody gives me a solution to that problem, except telling me to use Yahoo or AOL, but nobody uses Yahoo or AOL on PC in Europe and nobody want to install another programm, just because you use another technologie.

Does 'Multiple Single Values' work in BOBJ 4.0 Webi?

We have a BOBJ 4.0 environment. We have a BEx variable defined as 'Multiple Single values' in BEx, so that the users can enter multiple materials at the same time to query as the input. The materials are like 02.200.100, 02.100.105, 02.100.402S etc.. In the BOBJ Webi prompt filter section, for the material, I am not able to input multiple single values for the material. I get a 'No values to display' message in the prompt section itself when I try to enter multiple materials separated by semicolon.
The users have around 500 different materials for which they want to see the data at the same time. They have this materials separated by semicolon in excel, and they want to copy that and enter this information in BOBJ prompt section (where it says to enter the values). I tried separating the materials by semicolon, comma - nothing worked out. When I enter each material individually, and search it with it key, I am able to see the material. So, doesn't 'Multiple single values' option work in BOBJ? I was able to see the data for those 500 materials each separated by a semicolon using the multiple single values option through BEx Analyzer and Portal. Isn't the same functionality provided by BOBJ?
Please find below my BOBJ prompt screen summary. Since 'Multiple single values' option was not working, I changed the BEx variable to 'Selection Option' in BEx, so in BOBJ we now have a 'Start Value' and a 'End Value' in BOBJ. Still my question is, whether BOBJ supports multiple single values option, so that the users can enter multiple values as input? The users want to enter the multiple materials in the "Enter Search Pattern" bar in the attached screenshot. Please let me know if this is feasible

As of 4.0. it was by a limitation.
I have read some where that some users were able to meet the requirement by putting a semi colon at the end of each value in a excel and feeding it to the prompt but seems like you have already tried that.

But I think this requirement can be met in Analysis edition for OLAP.

Multiple queries/Merged dimension dispalying data in report

Hi All,
I am using BOXI 3.1, In my report i have 2 queries both are using the same universe. First query will return data for current date and second query return for previous date. This is the only diffrence between 2 query apart from this it has same number of objects and filters.
I am doing merge dimension on basis of Transaction number, so the report need to display only those transaction number which is present today and yesterday.
Now i need to display the data in report such that 1st row will dispaly data for current date and second row will display data for previous date so user can compare the data for same transaction number.
Now when i drag transaction number and measure objects from query1 and same from measure from query2 below (i.e. second row) it display data perfactly but when i drag dimension objects whose values are diffrent for both days the report displays 4 rows instead of 2 rows. It multiplied the rows.(If dismension value is same then its working fine).
Can anyone please tell me how to display the data for 2 days one below other with dimension values are diffrent.

This result is fairly obvious. Bobj will make all unique combinations for Dimensions you take.
However there are ways to enforce Combinations.
Kuldeep is right "Mergerd dimensions act as Inner Joins" however you can enforce Left outer Join/Right Outer join in a single block bu using [Query1].[Transaction_Number] or, Right outer join by replacing [Transaction_Number] with
[Query2].[Transaction_Number]
Try the combination of
[Transaction_Number]
[Query1].[Transaction_Number]
[Query2].[Transaction_Number]
1st Alternative: You can use Concatenation function with carriage return to view two measure objects in a single row.
e.g. =[Measure1]+ " "+[Measure2]
use Ctrl+Enter to add newline so that measure2 shows up in next line. now you need no two rows. Highten the rows only.
2nd Alternative: Try using single query. Copy both queries and Goto Edit Query and change
Select ...your query1....
Union
Select ....your query2...
(**This might again give you four rows for unmatched dimension )
3rd Alternative: Try removing TRAILING BLANKS if Dimensions are same and still repeating rows. Use Ltrim() and rtrim() or, put formula =if( [Query1].[Transaction_Number]=[Query2].[Transaction_Number];[Query1].[Transaction_Number];[Query2].[Transaction_Number]) etc.
