Does Motion 5 work with Final Cut Express?

I need to know before I make the purchase. Thanks.

Motion 5 does not work with FCP (i.e. does not interact) so I very much doubt it will work with FCE.
Saying that, as I have mentioned in another thread you can still output your movie with transparency and import into FCE above a background etc.  There is no send to etc..........

  • Does Compressor 4 work with final cut express 3.5?

I have never used Compressor before.
I am currently using Final Cut 3.5 and too deep into various projects to even THINK about moving to FInal Cut X at this point and sacrificing my productivity while I learn it.
But I think I need to learn Compressor for a particular job or two and was wondering if the latest version works with the older FCE.
    Thanks
I am running 10.6.8 on a brand new 27" 3.1 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 4 GB of memory.

Yes, Compressor adds several codecs, which can also be used in FCE (decoding and encoding using QuickTime Conversion) and in QuickTime player. Most notably these are MPEG-2 and ProRes. The latter is an editing-friendly Intraframe-Codec useful for preprocessing stuff for importing clips to FCE, particularly if it has a different framerate from the FCE project.
I'm also still using FCE 3.5(*) and the "Export using Compressor" menu option remains grayed out, which is a pity, but the new codecs can still be used. I mostly use it to make stuff for DVDs, using my ancient and cumbersome iDVD.
(*) It really works on Lion, provided you have installed it on a previous Mac OS release and then migrated or upgraded to Lion: the installer is a PowerPC program, but the installed program is Universal and works fine and very stable. If you already have Lion, and no older (Snow) Leopard machine, it's going to be more of a challenge, since the Lion kernel no longer supports PowerPC binaries, so Rosetta won't work.

  • Does the DCR-SR62 30GB Sony Handycam work with Final Cut Express hd 3.5?

    Hi,
I am a new mac user and I want to get a good camera that will work with Final Cut Express hd, I am currently looking at the DCR-SR62 30GB and the HDR-UX1 dvd both by sony and I would like to know if these to cameras or one of them will work with Final Cut Express Hd. Thanks.

Niether one of these cams are the best choice for FCE. FC can not directly work with either DVD or HD (as in Hard drive) camcorders. You will have to convert and/or rip the output of either camera, giving you an extra work step and perhaps diminishing the quality of your footage
FCE is designed to work with DV/HDV material ... from a tape, throught a Firewire connection
There is software like MPEG Streamclip which will allow you to convert those cam's output to work with FC but if you haven't bought them yet, I would hold off and look at a good quality tape based cam

  • Can Motion be used with Final Cut Express?

I am needing to add a little more advanced graphics and I am wondering if I bought Motion, would it be able to work with final cut express HD or would I have to upgrade to the final cut studio pro suite?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Be careful with used copy, Motion 1 and 2 were sold as single product in the past, not from a editing suite like Final Cut Studio 2 or 3. There was an upgrade from Apple: Final Cut Studio 5.1 that gave the intel support for those applications included in studo bundle. So, used earlier version of Motion may be not usable on your intel mac without the FCS 5.1 upgrade.
The graphic processor card compatibility must be checked too.
I would go with a used copy of Adobe After effects, may be 6.5 or 7.

  • How well does Compressor 4 work with Final Cut 6?

How well does Compressor 4 work with Final Cut 6?

The short answer is that there is no interoperability between them. Of course, you can certainly export a QT movie from FCP and bring it into C4.
Honestly, I'm not sure it's worth it for someone already has C3. There is very little that C4 can do that C3 cannot. The major differences are that C4 has certain presets like  MPEG 4 h.264 and 1080 Apple TV; it can also create simple Blu Rays and DVDs. Qmaster is integrated, but I'm not sure whether that is a gain.

  • Does Mackie Control work with Final Cut 7 when using USB MIDI?

I have a Mackie Control Universal Pro connected via USB to my mac and it works GREAT with Logic and all the complimentary Logic Studio software.
The problem I am having is, when I try to use it with Final Cut, it wont work at all. I have read the post concerning this that was answered by Andy Mees but, I dont use a true MIDI connection, only USB.
    Any thoughts?

Does Mackie Control work with Final Cut 7 when using USB MIDI?
No one will know until FCP 7 is released.

  • Would motion 5 work with final cup express

I am contemplating buying the whole package, FCEP, motion 5 & Compressor as I have a lot of projects
with final cut express and I know that with Pro version, it would not take projects from FCE..I like motion 5
and what it does so Im wondering if I could use this...Help

You will also notice to the left side of this thread there's a "More Like This" section.  These are other threads where people have asked the same question, or similar ones.  It might be good to look at those too.

  • Capture devices that work with Final Cut Express

Would any one out there be able to recomend a reasonably priced video capture device that works with FCE other than a video camera? I want to input video and audio from VHS and DVD. I also want to input Audio from cassette and CD.
    imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I am in a similar situation. All I can say is that the ADS Pyro AV Link works well with iMovie but not with Final Cut Express or Pro so I returned it.
I am waiting for a DataVideo DAC 100, Their web site gives specific instructions as how to use the DAC with FCP so I am hopefull that it will work with FCE.

The Canopus ADVC 110 has also been recommended on this forum.

  • Does the Sony DCR-HC32 camcorder work with Final Cut Express 3.5?

I was just wondering if the Sony DCR-HC32 camera model works for the Macbook or Final Cut Express 3.5. I am really interested in getting the Macbook for video editing. Thanks
Compaq Presario 700   Windows XP Pro

    Yes.
Sony calls it iLink, Apple calls it firewire and the techos call it IEEE 1394.
All are one and the same.
You will require a 4-6 pin iLink cable that can be obtained from just about any computer or electrical store. Get a good quality sheilded cable no longer than 2 metres or shorter if you setup allows.

  • Do Applescript / Automator work with Final Cut Express?

    Hey list,
I'm a nubie in all things Applescript / Automator related. Does Final Cut Express support commands from these? For example, can I tell it to go pick up a batch of photos I created, put them in a seqeunce, and export them as an MOV? If so, it would make my life a lot easier

    Hi(Bonjour)!
If you want to drive an appication by applescript or automator, this application has to be "driveable" by script.
If you open Applescript editor, select dictionnary and look if the application appears. If not, it cannot be driven by scripts.
FCE is not scriptable. You can automate the lauching of the app itself (from finder scripts) but no more.
But with select all command, you can drag all your stills (they will be inserted in the same order as they appear in column list view) in timeline.
Also, use the "storyboard tips" by placing them in a diffrent order in icon view (in perfect row and column), select all and drag in timeline. The order will be respected from upper left-corner to lower-right.

  • Can somebody tell me if this video camera works with Final Cut Express HD?

    Hi,
I'm juggling with the idea of changing my old video camera from 1999 Sony TRV-93.
I'm looking in to the Panasonic HDC-SD5 or Sony HDR-HC7.
My main concern it that I will be using Final Cut Express or iMovie for the editing of my home movies.
But neither of the companies is clear if their product will work with a Mac.
I'll be using a MacBook Pro to run Final Cut Express HD.
So if someone that uses one of this video cameras tell me that they work with Macs and Leopard, It will be much easier to take my decision.
Thank you for reading and your anwsers.
    Mario

Probably ANY camera that uses MiniDV TAPE and has a FireWire ( aka iLink) output can use iMovie and FCE .
DVD, Hard Disk and Flash Memory cameras are generally unsuitable.
However, iMovie 07 (aka 08) and FCE 4 can handle AVCHD cameras.
    Ian.
SORRY ! Just realised you wanted someone who has one of those cameras. I don't think many people will because flash memory is not really suitable at present because of the incredibly high price of the SD cards. eg.probably £60 for an hour of video as compared with £2 for a tape.

  • Working with Final Cut Express

I'm wondering if users of final cut express will have the ability to check out/check in projects, or if that feature will only apply to Final Cut Studio. I want the ability to manage content that can be edited by relatively unskilled editors, using Final Cut Express. Anyone out there know the answer?

The answer is Yes. You pretty much get most of the functionality. Even the edit-in-place. I'm a technology employee, but I have Express on my laptop for testing. Anything I've configured for Pro users also works on my Express. Some of the XML features may not.
