Does Motion have a 4K limit like FCP?

I've heard rumored that Motion doesn't have a 4K limit. What might the actual limit be if this is the case. I'm trying to find a way to do some simple IMAX animation without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Aha!! Mark. Fantabulous. So what kind of graphics card would I need to do 8K?
I believe they have a tower in the studio, only 4 G's of RAM though, and I'm not sure how many processors ... but it's a fairly new model, last summer I think.
I was thinking we'd have to do this in After Effects, which I'm not a fan of. It would be wonderful if we could do it with Motion.

Hi i need a matte key. I am trying to insert pics withing a matte i have a bground layer then the matte layer then the fill on top. I cant find a matte key in FCP. Can anyone help.

right click the fill clip (above the matte) and choose Composite Mode > Travel Matte - Luma or Travel Matte - Alpha ... using luma uses the matte clip's luminance to define the mask, and using alpha uses the matte clip's alpha channel to define the mask

Ever since I loaded mountain lion, my macbook runs very badly. It it very slow to react to any commands or cursor movements. It freezes for about 15 seconds at a time. It does not have that fact response like when I first bought it. Any suggestions?

Does Siri have a character limit when composing emails?

I have been trying to use Siri to get some emails done while I'm driving. I can start the email okay, I can get the "Subject" just fine, and I can get into the body of the message just fine. However, as I start dictating the body of my email, Siri will interrupt me in the middle of speaking and ask me if I am ready to send it. This will happen when I am mid-sentence---literally.
I'm wondering----is this because I have reached some sort of character limit that I'm not aware of, and once that limit is reached you can't do anything except send it? I say "period" and "comma" as I'm speaking, but there is no long pause to make Siri think I'm done speaking. I am speaking the entire time, and Siri interrupts me mid-sentence and mid-word right in the middle of me speaking.
Any idea what's going on? Thanks!

The limits are the same-hardware and software-and refer to the ability to address the memory.
If you have a 32bit operating system, it's limited by the same 4GB limit (2^32=4,294,967,296).
If you have a 64bit operating system (such as OS X Tiger) running on a 64bit computer, it's theoretically limited to about 17 Billion GB.
So, with Tiger, you're not likely to run into a memory limit anytime soon.

Firefox start panel on my laptop does not have "pages from Australia" like on my PC

On my PC in my firefox browser start panel I have two search options, search --"the web" or "pages from Australia" I find this very useful but I am unable to locate this facility on my laptop. The only difference is my PC has a Firefox 4 update whereas my laptop has a fresh Firefox 4 download.

Tried following suggestions on both of these links - didn't solve my problem. The Firefox sprite is still missing on my laptop and the page is almost blank except for the Google search bar and the tabs on the top of the page. Plus now I'm getting a balloon on my PC (which still has the correct Firefox logo) that says there is an IP address conflict when I turn on my laptop. What the heck is going on? I tried doing a system restore on my laptop yesterday - could this be the reason for the IP conflict balloon that appeared on my PC when I turned on the laptop this morning? I hadn't had any problems with my laptop until after I downloaded an Adobe update a couple of days ago. Plus I had installed the latest version of Picasa 3 (which the system restore removed). Can't think of anything else.

I know this is an odd place to post a question like this. But I was wondering if Microsoft had anything even remotely like Sun's Java Community Process Program ( http://www.jcp.org/ )?
It seems like such a great idea, and if Microsoft is going to compete with Java, it would seem like a good idea for them too. Not having it would be a real turn off for .NET, to me anyway.

I have great disdain fo MS (I do not like MS), but what they have done with Visual Dot NET is beyond cmprehension.
I have to admit, that part of it is a pure copy of java, with a few changes and called C##.
It is actually very good, sadly!
So, is MS competing? Too right they are.
It appears that the big players , i.e. IBM, SUN and MS are developing together.

I read the instructions to update my iPad. I am trying to upgrade the software. When I open the utilities and go into settings, I do not have the software update window. Any suggestions?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Does LR have a 'V' cycle like Aperture?

As I try to transition from Apple Aperture to LR 4 full time, there's one thing I really miss from Aperture:
the ability to cycle through views - from full sized single image to the project I'm in to the filmstrip view.
In Aperture, I hit 'v' and get the three different views.
Unless I've overlooked some easy command, there doesn't seem to be an ability or shortcut to accomplish this.
If there is - I'd really appreciate your help.

Personally I'm making the switch to lightroom in the name (and not for political, but practical reasons) of platform agnosticism.
Functionality-wise one of the big ah-ha shortcut finds for me was TAB (widens viewing space by hiding side pallettes) and COMMAND-TAB which hides all the pallettes side and horizontal. Up until then I was wondering how to really get the "full screen" functionality going. I also like the fact that LR in the library lets you use the "L" key to make the background darker e.g. "turning the lights out."
I really used to like Aperture, but I'm definitely moving away from all Apple-only products. The destruction of Final Cut Pro was really a wake up call in terms of making me realize how trapped I was being tied to one platform. That and the dearth of flexibility in terms of affordable and powerful desktops. But I digress. Hope this helps. -Benjamin

Are you getting to the Login screen? Or is freezing up on a blue screen? Are you still at the gray screen? Run any updates recently?

The next step would be to try and verify/repair Disk Permissions, but you'll need access to another computer for DVD/CD sharing or an external DVD drive.

Does Microsoft have any iAnywhere Mobilink like tools?

We have a project that involves 2 or more disconnected field worker that need to sync data to a master repository. The requirements are still evolving, but it's possible there may be complex rules where a record in the master repository may only be
changed if some other condition exists.
I worked on a similar project back in the early 2000s and at that time we used Sybase's Mobilink platform to establish those update rules and sync the data. I'm wondering if Microsoft has similar technologies now? I realize I can write the rules
manually for the sync in an SSIS package, but wanted to know if anybody can recommend other means of accomplishing this?

It is called merge replication. SSIS will work, but is not scalable.
