I just purchased a Mac Book Pro with retina display 10.8.2 but when I go to the app store it says I need to pay 19,99 for a copy how do I get a copy of mountain lion to keep just in case I need to rebuild the PC
As you stated, your new MacBook Pro came with Mountain Lion pre-installed. The pre-install version is not the same as the version in the Mac App Store, so if you want a copy from the App store, you need to buy it.
Before you get all excited, your new MacBook Pro has a feature called "Internet Recovery". If you should need to restore your machine (say for example you want to replace your hard drive for some reason), you just put in the new drive, and hold down the option key when you hear the boot chime. It should being up a lit of possible boot options, and near the bottom of the list should be an option for a "Network Boot". Is you select that, your MacBook Pro will connect to the Apple servers, and download the correct version of the OS for your machine. How long it takes will depend upon your internet connection, and the time when you are performing the recovery. If you try it during an iOS major update, it is likely the Apple servers will be slow and it may take a while, but if you try at a more normal time, it may finish the download (about 4.7GB) in under 2 hours, depending upon your internet connection. Keep in mind that if you have a local Apple Store, you can go there and use their wifi network to perform the download process...

The date of purchase is not a reliable indicator that your Mac Book Pro meets the requirements for Mountain Lion.

Even if your computer meets the requirements for Mountain Lion doesn't necessarily mean it's advisable to do so. For example, if you rely on applications that are not compatible with Mountain Lion.

I downloaded Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro but when I go to install it, it says "OS X cannot be installed on Lion." Any advice?
Right-Click the "Install OS X Mountain Lion" installer under /Applications and select Show Package Contents and drill down through the folders; Contents/SharedSupport. Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to your desktop. Grab an 8GB USB stick as the file is 4.35GB's and might not fit on a 4GB USB stick. Then mount the DMG by double-clicking it and stick your 8GB USB stick in and that will mount then you can use Disk Utility to restore the DMG to the 8GB USB stick. Then shutdown and reboot while holding the Option key and select the USB drive. See if that will let you install Mountain Lion.
One more thing, you have to format the USB Stick first and ensure it's set to GUID mode (under Partition tab Options button) or it won't boot.

You have some other problem with your boot drive that has corrupted data backed up to the TimeMacine drive.
My advice is to boot into each operating system and manually backup just your Users files each to separate regular external drives (no Timemachine or backup software) and disconnect.
Make a note of any serial numbers, emails, address book contacts, export bookmarks etc. that isn't typically in your users folders data.
You might be able to Winclone 3 the Windows as a whole thing as it's appearing not to have issues but it's your MacintoshHD partition that is so that will have to be rebuilt from scratch.
Most commonly used backup methods
If your OS X parititon doesn't boot, you can use this to recover files.
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
Without any further detail about your machine I can't advise specifically what to do, but it involves using Disk Utility to Zero Erase (move slider one spot to the right or in 10.6 using Security Option) the ENTIRE boot drive and reformatting, then installing OSX fresh and then setting up BootCamp again.
If you wish to switch your boot drive for something better, this is a good time to do this.
Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
If your machine is capable of Internet Recovery, then use that, then upgrade.
If your machine came with 10.6 or earlier, then use the 10.6 install disks and work up from there.

You can use it on Snow Leopard without any problem. However, Apple updates graphic drivers and more things, so it could run better on Mountain Lion, but as I said, if you don't want to upgrade, keep on Snow Leopard because it will run properly.
Probably, Adobe is referring to the fact that Photoshop could be working in 32-bit because the kernel on Snow Leopard starts into 32-bit by default, and Mountain Lion is a 64-bit operating system. In this case, you will see an improvement -

How good is Maverick, Can I upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to Mavericks. The local service center did not bother to verify the warranty and told me to pay 2000 rupees. I thought the warranty to be worldwide, apparently not, any suggestions.
If I have no warranty I would still want a DVD of Mountain Lion since I can do the install myself and do not need to pay 2000 for installation. There is no data to backup. I would really appreciate any help here.
RegardsYou can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

I recently tried to upgrade my macbook pro OSX to mountain lion via the app store. When it tried to install it gives me a disk error. I have run disk utilities and repaired, verified etc. but it makes no difference. I am running bootcamp as well and have tried to modifiy the partition sizes in disk utilities, but it says for both that they cannot be modified. I can switch my startup disk and reboot in windows, no problem, so getting my files off isnt the issue. I have also tried to recover the hard disk using time machine which i was lucky enough to backup the day before it all went wrong. However, time machine runs fine until it asks me which disk to recover and it gives me an option of the time machine disk or bootcamp, but no option for my mac partition. So, I have tried everything that makes snese, but getting errors with disks lock, cant repartition, disk error needs repair (which i know is not true, its only because of the Mountain Lion OSX that its messed up). Any ideas?

Does Mountain Lion come with Pages?
I recently purchased a new 27" iMac from Best Buy with the i5 Quad Core, 1TB HDD and 4GB RAM. The display model in the store was running Lion, and on the spec sheet, or price sheet for the computer it states that the ones sold were running Lion also. So I was a bit surprised when I got home and saw that it was running Mountain Lion. Pretty cool I guess but I think some things are different. For example, I didn't get to see the famous Mac start-up movie, which sucked because I was really looking forward to that, I even had my camcorder out ready to record it, because it's a pretty cool little demo, and it's my first Mac, so I was wanting to see it. Something I really didn't expect though is the lack of the Pages application being pre-loaded. it only comes with some dinky little application called "Text Edit", which opens up really small, and even though you can expand the window, I haven't yet found a way to expand the actual rule at the top of the area where text is entered, and to increase that ratio, which ***** because it's all super tiny on this super huge screen. I really expected Pages to come factory installed on here, seeing as how it is the most commonly used Mac word processor (I'm assuming). Now it looks like I have to pay $20 just for Pages, especially when it would have been nothing for Apple just to pre-install it on here from the factory? I just paid over $1700 for a computer with a little quad-core, only 1TB HDD, a tiny little 4GB of RAM (though I now have 16GB of RAM) and a little 512MB GPU? And Apple can't even throw me a bone and give me pages? Come on now, what's the deal? Can anyone help me out, with what usually comes pre-installed on Macs? I would appreciate it.
P.S. Apple, if you want to make me happy credit me $20 or provide me with a link to download the Pages application for free..silvergc, I'm not looking for your support. Just a bit of friendly advice. I'm coming from using PC where there's quite a programs made available for your pre-loaded on your computer I wasn't sure as to what actually came pre-installed. I just assumed that certain applications did because every single mac I've seen had them installed. But I guess it was my mistake. Oh, and a little hint, you don't really have to be rude and compare my lack of knowledge about Macs to your all-knowing mighty superiority. People make mistakes. Also, whether pages came with the thing or not was never going to be a deal breaker, I was just using the price point to put things into prospective a little. I just needed a little clarification on what was actually meant to come with the computer, to see how I made out. Because as I stated before I come from using a PC all my life and I know that programs that come pre-loaded can vary with a PC. Great job though at making one of my first encounters with people from the Mac community, not so great.
