Does MS Office 2003 work on Vista?

Hi -
Can MS Office 2003 work on Vista Home Premium? I've searched the MS website with no luck - I can only find info where it says 2003 is no longer available for purchase.
Thanks~

Yes it works, I highly updating MS Office 2003 with all its patches and updates prior to using it on Vista for the first time as Microsoft have released numerous compatability updates.

...since upgrading from a Macbook pro to a retina pro (with the latest OS) I cannot get Outlook to work, it freezes when I try to add my email accounts info...
The latest OS is 10.8.2. You've posted in the Lion (OS 10.7.x) forum.
...I don't have a clue what can be going wrong, it was all working fine on my macbook pro with Snow Leopard and the same setup is not working with Mountain Lion on the retina, ...The only reason I upgraded from Office 2008 was because I couldn't get it to stop closing down every few seconds with 'a problem'...
Different operating systems canNOT be the "same setup."
In my original installation of Office 2011 on a 2007 MBP with OS 10.6.8, I followed the guidelines Tips for a Successful Install. In launching Outlook 2011 for the first time, it recognized that I had Entourage 2004 and I was chose the option to have all the data transferred to Outlook 2011. While that was well over a year ago, I'm fairly certain that I did not need to manually set up my multitude of existing email accounts. Subsequently, I've added new accounts. A couple of months ago, I got a new mid-2012 MBP (non-retina) with OS 10.7.4. I used Pondini's advice , which I found here in the Apple Support Community for OS 10.7, to setup the new MBP from the old MBP with Setup Assistant. Afterwards, I manually installed my applications. I am certain that I did not need to manually setup any email accounts when I launched Outlook 2011.
That said, if you did not fix the problem that you were experiencing with Office 2008 (and more specifically Entourgage 2008) but migrated that data to your new rMBR, then your problem may lie within the old data. You have not provided information on how you installed Office 2011, if your setup of Outlook is as new or datea ported from Entourage, and what troubleshooting steps you have tried. As Kurt Lang suggested, the Microsoft Community would be best with your specific issues as stated.

I did not upgrade from Excel 2004, since I spent a lot of time and energy  to develop a large number of functions using Excel macros.
I will not upgrade from Snow Leopard.
    What else ?
I had the intention to change my 4-year-old 17" Macbook pro, not compatible with Lion, to a newer one. I had... There is no further reason to do that.
Apple, now loosing old supporters and customers ? Or am I getting too old ?
A 4 year old Macbook Pro should run Lion. Unless its a CoreDue and not a Core2Duo. Remember that PPC computers can not even run Snow Leopard. This was when Apple announced that support for PPC programs would be phased out. Office 2004 is almost 8 years old now. Twice as old as your computer you say needs to be replaced. I can't believe people rush in to install a new system without doing a little bit of research, and the dropping of Rosetta to run old PPC programs was well advertised if you read up on Lion, as was the introduction of Mission Control and Versions. I even read up about them, and I'm not a professional like some who come here. May pay to remember to research in future releases.
    Good Luck

  • How can I make Office 2003 work with Lion?

Just made the switch to Lion only to find that Office 2003 was incompatible with the new OS. Any way to work around this or do I just need to upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011?

As Shawn said, if your copy of Office is a PC version, it won't work under Lion. You could try Virtual Box to run Windows on your Mac, or create a Windows boot partition.
If that's some old version of Office for Mac, then it won't run under Lion. This is because Lion does not include, and cannot run, Rosetta, which is the code converter which allowed old PPC-based Mac software to run on Intel-based Macs.
I second the notion of getting Pages. It's not expensive, it's easy to buy and install at the Mac App Store, and it works really well. It will read all of your Word files. Ditto for Numbers and Keynote.
You could also take a look at OpenOffice or NeoOffice. Both are free (the latest version of NeoOffice requires a $10 or higher donation, but the next-to-last version works fine and does not require a donation) and work well.

  • Does microsoft office 2011 work with mountain lion?

Was wondering if Microsoft Office 2011 works with Mountain Lion since the 1997 version does not.

Okay, I will try that.  It looks like I have installed it twice already.  An obvious novice. I will do it again though.

Does Microsoft Office for Mac 2007 run on the new OS Lion?

If you mean Office 2004, no.
If you mean Office 2007, it's a Windows product.
If you mean Office 2008, yes.

  • Does new Office apps work with stylus/pen?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the new Office excel, word and onenote for mac work with a pen/stylus on an ipad mini?
    Angelica

To my knowledge none of Microsoft's apps accept input via handwriting nor drawing. If you want to use a stylus, there are other apps available in which you can write and/or draw, including Penultimate, Notability, and others. You can find suggestions here:

Perhaps one of those would work for you.

  • Does 32-bit itunes work with Vista 64-bit ?

will the latest 32-bit version of itunes install and run properly on the Vista 64-bit OS ?
this is my last attempt to get itunes to work on my machine, tried everything else and frankly disgusted thus far with the freezing, etc.

i'm curious....if previous versions of itunes were installed, and i run the updater or do a full uninstall of apple software on my machine, does that completely wipe everything that was installed ? for example, the Gear drivers, USB drivers, etc ?
after numerous times trying to use itunes, it binds up (randomly), and eventually binds up windows. i can't shut down itunes, even with taskman. only option is to hard shut down my machine. up until yesterday i had not had a problem doing this, windows booted up fine. but last night i corrupted my OS, i finally got it back up and running, but there were problems after the repair. so i chose to wipe the raid array and start from scratch.
if a fresh, first time install of itunes 8 x64 will work fine, i will do it, but before i load any apple apps on my machine, this time around i'm backing up the entire partition just in case.
if i still get the problems i had before, i am reverting back to the pre-apple state, and going with wmp.
the logic here is: if a company goes on tv and bashes it's competition (Apple bashing Vista), then it's a no brainer that the problems inherit to windows users are 'seeded' by Apple. I cannot accept that Apple doesn't know what they are doing when they write software, because they are bright enough to write such software that does so many fantastic things for Macs, how is doing the same for windows that much more complicated ?

  • Does bmw office (2014) work with iphone(os 6)

I have a BMW X335 with the office package and can't connect/activare text, mail, agenda with my iphone 4s 6os

The dealer needs to know what profiles the vehicle uses for these options to work. If the iPhone does not support the profiles the vehicle uses to do these tasks, then you are are out of luck there. The dealer should be able to provide information on the profiles, and I have provided you with the profiles the phone supports.

  • Does microsoft office 2011 work well on a mac mini?

I was thinking of buying Pages and Numbers from the App Store but saw that most of the reviews were negative.  Should I just get Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac?

Those Pages v5 reviews are negative for a reason.
If you have to exchange documents in a corporate, or educational setting where MS Office is used, then you probably should create native Word .doc/x content in Office for Mac 2011. Alternatively, you might also look at the free LibreOffice suite. It is far more comprehensive than Pages, and gets the .doc/x export done right.
Office for Mac 2011, or LibreOffice work just fine on a Mac Mini. There are several Microsoft updates available for Office for Mac 2011 — be sure to install them.

  • Why does microsoft office stop working after OS lion

I just recently downloaded OS Lion 10.7.3 and now I can't use my Microsoft Office suite.  I get a error message "You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

Office 2008 and 2011 both work with Lion.
You are likely running Office 2004 which is no longer supported on Lion.

  • Does Microsoft Office 2011 work under Yosemite?

I use Microsoft Word for college.  I prefer to use Word instead of Pages.

It is hardware dependent. I run Yosemite on a MacBook Pro (late 2008) with the latest version of Office 365 and it is fine (I still loathe Outlook). However my more recent MacBook Air is less than happy with Office 365 (I guess because it has taste) and will work OK with Word and Excel, but not with Outlook.

  • Does Microsoft Office 2008 work on a Macbook air that I bought January 2013?

I have an old mac and wanted to transfer microsoft office across to my new one but i've read that version 2008 might not work.
I don't want to use migration assistant if it isn't going to work as it's pointless.
I bought my macbook air this January (2013).

Migration Assistant will create a new user with the files transferred from an older computer. As you only want to transfer applications, if you select only applications to be transferred, no user will be created. However, if you can, I think that the best way is to install Office from the DVD, buying an external optical drive for your Mac or using Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5287
