Does MSI H67MA-E45 BIOS compatible with SoundGraph iMON VFD?

Hi!
I would like to mount SoundGraph iMON VFD in my PC. It connects to MB by USB port. The problem is that BIOS bootup stops showing 92 at the right bottom of display as SoundGraph iMON VFD is connected. If disconnected, then connected later as the bootup procedure is completed all the items operate well.

What is the matter of it? Please enlighten me.

Since day one of firing up my new build, the BIOS freezes while in any BIOS setup menu after about half a minute or so.
POST and bootup both go by without either issue or delay and I can still change BIOS settings if I'm fast enough.
The strange thing is, memtest86+ shows no errors and Windows is perfectly stable as far as I can tell, though I haven't put it under heavy load yet.
I've successfully tried flashing (via forum tool, after memtest) to the most recent BIOS version with no luck in fixing this issue.
Any ideas or things I might have overlooked?
EDIT: Eh, wrong section? Sorry if it is, was half asleep when I posted (and still am).

BIOS menu is no longer freezing. I think I stumbled onto the fix by coincidence.
New keyboard/trackball (IOGEAR GKM561R) came in the mail, so I installed it and removed the temporary keyboard and mouse I was using originally.
A little while later I went into BIOS and found that it didn't freeze anymore. Thinking it was an issue with the USB keyboard or mouse I previously used,
I tried entering BIOS with just the previous keyboard. It was stable, but once I tried again with both the keyboard and the mouse the problem returned.
I'm thinking the mouse (steelseries KINZU) or a combination of the keyboard (Razer BlackWidow) and the mouse was the cause.
Also, just finished putting the system under heavy load with no stability issues. Looks like I'm in the clear. Thank you guys for lending me a hand, though. I really appreciate it.
EDIT: Bernhard, I didn't see your post until after I posted this, but it seems you were right on the money about the keyboard/mouse.

  • Various MSI H67MA-E45 boot problems

    Hi all,
    First my specs:
    -MSI H67MA-E45 with lastest bios.
    -Core i5 2400
    -8GB ddr3 g.skill ram
    -Seagate 500gb
    -xfx 6870 1gb
    -Seasonic modular 520w
    -Samung dvd burner sata
Here is the issue I have.
When I first got the board, I had boot order set to dvd, then hdd. I would say about once a week, completely out of the blue, the computer would boot into the bios menu instead of the hard drive (DVD burner was empty). Contacted msi support and they suggested having hdd set as first boot device. That solved the issue for couple weeks. Lately, I tried to start the computer and fan would turn but nothing else happened. I had to clear the bios memory so It could POST again. Also once in a while right after the computer POST and MSI splashscreen shows it stop right after and all I see is a flashing "_" in the upper left corner of the screen. I have to hit reset two or three times so it can finally "catch up" and load windows normally of the hdd.
My hdd tested good and are is known good. Did the same with an other PSU...I am lost !
Anyone has any input before I RMA the board?

  • I need bios compatible with celeron E3200/E3300 for P35 neo-f

I need the bios compatible with Celeron E3200 for P35 neo-f, my motherboard is running the latest version of bios

There are 2 P35 Neo MB's. One w/BIOS 2xx and the other w/BIOS 1xx. G33 Neo also has the same BIOS & CPU support as P35 Neo w/BIOS 1xx. From what I see the one w/BIOS 2xx supports it but the one w/BIOS 1xx does not. Best would be to contact MSI with your question and specify which BIOS your MB has. >> G33 Neo <<

    Hi All,
Does BO 5.1.7 compatible with Windows 7?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Karthik Namburu

    Hello...,
BO5.1.7version best suitable environment is Windows NT. You willn't get any problems in it.
In Windows XP also it will work, but not perfectly suitable.
So it is better to choose Windows NT.
    All the Best,

  • MSI H67MA-E45-B3 (7678) System Freeze

I get freezes very often on this computer when using dual channel mode .
both of my rams are fine (2x Kingston 2GB same model) , I have tried them on both slot 1 or slot 3 , everything was fine , but when I use them on slot 1 and slot 3 , system freezes
I am using Windows 8 Pro , page file is now 300 MB min , 600 MB max .
The graphics card is : MSI NGTS-450 Cyclone .
    and the CPU is i5 2310 .
I am running on BIOS Ver 3.2 (latest version)
    power info :
    3.3v = 3.3
    5v = 5
    12v = 11.6-11.7

Install only a single stick of ram then clear the cmos: >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Run the system with optimized defaults and assuming the system is stable, re-flash the bios to the most recent. (attached)
Memtest is included with the forum tool, make sure to run it prior to any flash. If any instability is detected DO NOT FLASH.
1st check to make sure this is your board:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H67MA-E45--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
2nd: Install the forum flash tool:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Place the attached archive on your desktop and your fat32 formatted usb stick in a the computer.
then start the tool and point it first at the compressed archive then to the usb stick using mode 1.
Then boot to the usb and proceed to flash the bios. I would recommend running memtest which is included with the forum tool prior to flashing. I would also suggest doing this with only a single stick of ram installed in the primary DIMM for the flash.

  • MSI 785GTM-E45 BIOS CPU fan voltage control

    Hello MSI gurus,
I've replaced the MB in an older HP media center with the MSI 785GTM-E45 running BIOS V8.8 out of the box.
    CPU = Athlon 64 X2 4200+
My problem is the stock CPU fan has a 3 pin connection (voltage controlled) and is running at 100% speed all the time.  From what I've read on the forums there are a number of people that have this issue (with other MBs with 4 pin cpu fan headers) and don't want to switch to a 4 pin CPU fan (PWM controlled).  I am in the same situation.
I am hoping that there is a BIOS for this board that has an option to switch to or enable voltage control on the CPU fan header.
I have tried enabling the CPU smart fan target but no matter what settings I chose the fan remains at 100%.  The H/W monitor of the MB indicates a CPU temperature (33C) well below the target (tried all options from 40C to 60C in 5C increments).
I have tried MSI's dual core center and it had no effect on the fan speed.
I have tried the 3rd party freeware SpeedFan and if had no effect on the fan speed.
I am not able to check if I have the latest BIOS or even find changelogs for existing BIOS verions because MSI seems to only direct BIOS downloads for this product to the Live update application.  I have installed the live update program and it indicated V8.8 was the most recent veriosn of the BIOS for this board, although I have seen posts indicating the Live Update application is not to be trusted.
Dual core center, SpeedFan, and Live Update have all now been uninstalled.
I know the fan I'm using will change speed because I can connect a 3 pin fan controller and manually dial down the speed.
I know the BIOS can read the fan speed becase it correctly shows the RPM changes when I use the hardware fan controller.
Can anyone direct me to a BIOS version for this board (or some secret keystroke) that enables automated 3 pin voltage control on the CPU fan header?
Thanks in advance for your time.

For those who are interested I received the following answer from MSI technical support.  Personally I find this to be a flaw in this board's design.  I chose this MB to replace a dead MB in a HP media center for a friend.  If I was buying this board for myself I likely would be using it as a HTPC because of the mATX form factor, HDMI on board, and backward compatibility for CPUs.  However, due to the added cost of purchasing a new heat sink and fan I would be RMAing if I had bought it for myself.  Considering many of the top performing after market coolers still come with a 3 pin fan it was a poor decision for MSI to not include support for automatic speed control of a 3 pin voltage controlled fan.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for contacting msi technical support team!
We are sorry that because of the circuit designs,we could not add cpu smart function for 3 pin's connector fan in the BIOS. The difference between 3pins and 4pins is that the second has a temperature controller but the first does not.We would suggest you utilize a 4-pin CPU Fan in order to control the CPU Fan speed.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused you!

I downloaded the bios that Svet provided along with MSI HQ Forum USB Flasher and it makes the USB Key fine

  • MSI A78M-E45 BIOS Request

Hello best and brightest minds of the MSI forum.  I just bought the above board, and after buying and still using the MSI A85X-G65, the quality of MSI and the BIOS impressed me on the FM2 board.  Now I know that the new board isn't top shelf, it is HS'ed and the tip top A78 that MSI offers.  I OC my Athlon X4 750K, and the BIOS over volts the CPU.  There is also no voltage adjustments that I can make what-so-ever, which is discouraging to say the least.  I emailed MSI and got a generic response of we will pass this request off to our BIOS engineers.  Is there any way to make a new bios, or crack and hack the one currently in place? Also, how long does it take to hear back if the BIOS team will pick up the project.  I have heard that MSI is one of the best when it comes to requesting BIOS features.
    Thanks!!!

Most FM2 boards - especially the value ones - won't support overvolting and are not intended to offers such beacuse of the power design not being meant for such tasks. Therefor MSi will most likely just tell you that it is not supported. For bios modding place a request in BETA & MOD BIOS Section but I've never heard of some for FM2 boards besides it will not help with the technical limitations.

  • MSI 785GTM-E45 Bios Startup Random Freezes Help?

    Hi all,
I hope I am posting this in the right forum, because it is a bios startup problem. I have been searching the forums from here and other places extensively for the past few days as well as trying pinpoint the problem on my own computer. My problem is every now and then when I boot up, it takes a really long time to get past or freezes at "initializing usb controllers" or it just freezes on "hypertransport flood sync." Some people say its the cpu, motherboard, ram, etc... So I have just been testing to see which component is causing the problem.
I recently purchased parts to build a new computer from frys. The parts are:
    1. MSI 785GTM-E45
    2. AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE
    3. Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC24G6400ELK
    4. Antec EarthWatts Green EA-430D Green 430W power supply
    5. PNY Geforce 240 GT
    6. 80 gb pata WD harddrive and NEC pata dvd-rw.
At first I thought it might've been that I was unlocking the cores and they were unstable, turns out the 4th core is unstable. However, I still get the weird freezes at initializing usb controllers and hypertransport flood sync even when I am running the stock 2 cores. Plus I purchased another AMD 555 to test it out, and its the same. Then I turned my attention to the ram, I ran memtest86+ on it and the ram appears to be good. And I don't think it is the power supply either, I can't really test it cuz I only have one. It can't be the video card because I was having this problem before I even installed the video card (I was using onboard waiting for something to go on sale). I am beginning to suspect that it's just a bad motherboard. I have even tried updating the bios to 8.5, I can now support X6, but it still doing the weird random freezes.
Was wondering if others had any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

For your current system as is that PSU will be OK. If you think you will be upgrading video to something beyond a 250GTS & x4 CPU then I would recommend the TX650W instead. newegg usually has the best prices for the Corsairs and only online store I buy from in the past couple of years.
If you look at the specs at newegg you will see where it says how many rails it has. Also n'egg usually has picture of the PSU label and you can see there, it will show for example 2 rail: +12V1@18, +12V2@18, note the number after +12V. A single rail will have 1, for example the Corsair in your link +12V@30A
