Does my iPod touch 4g have to be connected to wifi in order for me to find it on my computer via Find My Iphone or iCloud?

Does it have to be connected to wifi?

There is no way to know if the iPod has been restore and used with another Apple ID unless Apple is presented with a court order.

you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • My ipod touch is showing I am Connected to Wifi, yet when I attempt to visit a website It Says Not Connected to the internet. I have reset my settings and ipod and this still didn't fix the problem

My ipod touch shows that I am connected to the internet but when I attempt to visit a webpage it says I am not connected to the internet. I have reset my settings & wifi . And that has not helped the problem! PLEASE HELP ME!

Your Wi-Fi seems to connect as a local network but not to the Internet.
Since you can connect to the Internet using your neighbour's Wi-Fi, the problem is definitely your home router.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen No Longer Connects to WiFi

Tonight I've been watching videos via the new Youtube app (from the appstore, since the one that comes with iPod is no longer available). I was watching a Youtube video when the battery on my iPod touch ran out. I connected the charger, the iPod turned on, and it suddenly won't connect to my WiFi anymore. I have other devices that connect to the WiFi with no issues. What happens is I go to my WiFi settings, and select my router as the access point, and a rotating loading icon appears next to my access point's name, 'belkin54g'. But the loading icon never goes away, and as a result doesn't connect to WiFi. I recently upgraded to iOS 6 if that helps. This WiFi connection has always worked fine on this iPod touch, so I have no idea as to why it decided to crap out on me.

  • IPod Touch (4th generation) won't connect to wifi! Please help!

My iPod Touch (4th generation) won't connect to my house wifi that it's always connected to. I tried forgetting the network, and putting the password in again, several times. I've tried restarting my iPod, turning the wifi on & off, and also turning the router off and back on but none of this has helped. After I forgot the network and typed the password back in it just kept saying 'loading' and eventually it stops loading but still doesn't connect. It also shows other peoples wifi's but I haven't tried to connect to theres to see if it works. It just started doing this yesterday at this other place I was at but i just figured it was their wifi because when I got home that night it worked just fine but today it started doing it again at my house and I don't know what to do. Please Help!

  • How much ram does the iPod touch 4g have

I am a bit confused.  I bought an iPod 4th gen late May 2013 (made about a year ago) and read that it won't be able to be updated to ios 7 because of the ram.  Since when are Apple products only supported for 1 year?!  It's bad enough that I got ripped off buying an iPod touch 2G advertised as a 3G 3 years ago (for which I got several updates).  Now I buy an iPod 4G this May only to find out a few months later that there will be no updates for it!  I am pretty sure what I have now is a 4th gen, but according to Apple's website, there isn't a 16GB 4th gen!  I can't find ram info about this particular model, only for the larger, earlier produced 4g.  My model number is ME179LL/A.  The only info I can find about this model is that it is only about 1 yr old (which is why I 'm a bit po'd about not getting an update).  My ipad is older and can still be updated, so I don't understand why my newer ipod can't!  And don't tell me to buy the newer ipod-I just bought this one and cannot afford to purchase another one (not even a refurbished 5th gen, which is still more expensive than the 4g new)!

It doesn't matter when it was designed, it was built 2012 and should be updated just like any other Apple product.  My ipad is much older and still getting updates!  If you buy a car made in 2012 that was designed in 2010, you still get service for a year.  Your response is not valid.  An Apple product manufactured less than a year ago should still be entitled to updates.  I won't be surprised if there are many people in my position that think this is more than unfair, but disgraceful.  I see more lawsuits in Apple's future if they do not provide an update for a recently manufactured product.  Maybe you can afford to just go out and purchase a new ipod every year.  I cannot and it should be illegal to sell a product that a company does not intend to support.  When I purchased my ipod, Apple was still selling them on their website.  To sell a product you know won't be supported in a few months is unethical!

  • Does the iPod Touch 5G have a cell antenna or a GPS in it? It seems to know where I am...

I have the new iPod Touch 5th Gen, and I noticed some interesting behavior this morning, and I'm curious as to the explanation.
I needed to ship a package this morning, so I asked Siri where some local UPS drop off spots were. She gave me one right down the street, and I clicked on the map to see where it was. So it loaded the map while I was still on Wifi at home. After leaving home, I drove to where the map had indicated, but there was no UPS dropoff point (Apple Map fail! Heh). But out of curiousity, I was wondering if I'd just remembered wrong, so I was thinking that if the map app were still open, I could see what road it had thought this UPS dropoff was on.
When I opened the Map App, it showed the pin, and oddly enough, showed my blue location dot right next to it. I was not on any wifi. I thought that was curious, and I continued to drive. The blue dot followed me (with a very small circle around it, which, to me, indicates it doesn't know my EXACT location, but it was right on). As I continued to drive, the blue dot followed me and was very accurate, knowing which road I was on, and where on the road I was. I drove about a mile away, and it followed the whole way, until I eventually reached a point where the maps had not loaded, so there was no map data, but the blue dot continued to follow me.
Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any explanation for this? How would my iPod know where I was? I only know of three methods - 1) GPS location, 2) Cell tower triangulation, and 3) WiFi Location estimation. I know it wasn't WiFi, so I'm scratching my head over how this is possible unless the Touch has a functioning Cell Antenna in it that it's using for triangulation?

Right, which is still where I'm kind of confused, but is it possible that although the iPod isn't connecting to the wifi network, the location information is still being passed through to the iPod via the WiFi network? So although it isn't allowing you ON the network, it's still acting as a location server and allowing that location data to be transferred? I have a hard time believing that, as then you'd potentially be getting location requests from every person that drives by.
Not only that, but I wasn't exactly driving 10 MPH... I was going by these houses at about 35 MPH, so it's a little hard to understand how that location information could be consistently getting to my iPod even though I'm only in 'range' of any given WiFi network for about 3 seconds.
EDIT: It also knew where I was when I was behind a grocery store, not anywhere near ANY kind of neighborhood or connectable WiFi.

  • Does the iPod Touch 4 have a flash?

Looking for a refurb iPod Touch 4th gen for my 4-1/2 year old—but has to have a flash when taking a picture. Essentially I need to keep him off my iPhone 5—and my older 3G iPhone doesn't cut it for him.
The Apple iPod Touch 4th gen spec copy states something like...."tap to control exposure"—does this mean a "flash" is triggered via tap control? I am asking for clarification because the 5th gen states "LED flash", thus confused between the two copy points.
If not, are there any external add ons to simulate this?
Side: Without a camera  "flash" it makes no sense for me to get this. And the 5th gen is far too expensive for a kid this age—even with all the crazy hard core bumpers out there.

The 4G does not have a flash. The box just let you select what area the the iPod will use for exposure.

  • Does all ipod touch 4th have sound leakage?

I just got my new ipod touch (4th)
I had a 2nd generation one before and I turned the music on with my apple earphones on but the sound leaked so much!!
I put it on the same volume as always but the sound leaked so I'm wondering if every ipod touch 4th generations have sound leakage.
BTW,  when I put it on the same volume on 2nd generation ipod touch, it didn't leak.
So I'm thinking there is a problem with the ipod touch not the volume I listen to.

I haven't had that problem but if you do it probably has something to do with the volume level you are using and/or the way the earphones fit.
If you have problems have you tried another brand of earphones?

  • Does the iPod touch 4 have the same glass as the iPhone 4

I was just wondering if the iPod touch 4th gen has the same tough rhino glass as the iPhone 4

As far as I know, all iOS devises have a glass covered screen, with the exception of the iPhone 4 which has the back covered as well. The only diverice that I believe is that the glass on the iPhone may be thicker, but don't hold me to that.
