Does my mac 10.6.8 work with icloud

Can I sync my mac version 10.6.8 with icloud?

No, it doesn't. 10.7.2 or later is required to have iCloud. Consider upgrading your computer if possible.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
     Lion System Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
           or Xeon processor
       2. 2GB of memory
       3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
       4. 7GB of available space
       5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
    OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
         1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
         2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
         3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
         5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
         7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • Mac email doesn't work with iCloud

Since the move from mobileme email to iCloud I can only get email accounts working for a short period, and sometimes not at all on agiven day.
What we had on mobileme was a family acount with 4 active email accounts.
These all worked fine and all came in as seperate mailboxes to the mail client on the Mac. Nice and exactly what we wanted.
Since iCliud these accounts all work fine on IOS devices where the account matches the appleID logged in on the account.
Email on the Mac is different. I am often asked for the password for the individual accounts registered within email. Sometimes these passwords are accepted and I can send and receive email, sometimes they are not. Neither of these things sound right to me a) why only ask sometimes? b) if it works once why doesn't it always work.
I have tried (over 20 times now - waiting for varying lengths of time up to several days) the following to find a solution:
    1. Finding a post on these support forums or elswhere that says it has the definitive way of getting the whole account thing sorted out. It does seem many people have had issues moving email to iCloud.
    2. Creating new accounts for the email addresses required following the instructions exactly and having someone else check that I am.
    3. Trying the account immediately (actually email just does this). Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't
    4. Waiting  and trying it later. Sometimes the account will work for a couple of days but eventually everything reverts to the asking for and rejecting/accepting the password.
    5. Going back to step 1
Other iCloud services work fine e.g. Calendar synch.
Any help gratefully received. This has been going on for months.

I'm sure you migrated the primary MobileMe account to iCloud, but did you migrate each of the other email accounts as well.  Just migrating the primary account does not migrate the others.

  • Mac mail no longer works with iCloud

Since installing icloud, my mac mail is no longer working.

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

Why does my printer HP 3080 not work with Mac OS X VERSION 10.7.5. Am I missing a driver? If so where do I go to download it? thanks

What's the full model number and name of the printer?  I can't seem to find any HP printer with the numbers 3080 in the model number.
How are you connecting the printer to the Mac?
I am a printer tech for HP.

Does the hp mini wireless mouse work with a mac?

The only one that will work with OSX is the one you order with the Mac Pro from Apple. The others don't have the correct firmware for OSX.
I've also noticed that the online store lets have an option for the QuadroFX 5800 to purchase with a Mac Pro
No, it's the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600. That is the only way to get it. NVIDIA does not sell it directly.

This is a link to the drivers already installed in the Mac OS. The download is not required. *See note below
Apple used to list the DV camcorders that work with the drivers already in the Mac OS but now Apple no longer does so (Link removed from this section). *See note below.
Essentially any Firewire camera will work with the OS. Some MiniDV formats can not be seen by iChat though.
Many USB Webcams will work if you are at 10.4.8 or earlier or only UBS 1.1 ports. This will need the Mac Drivers and the IChatUSBCam utility.
*Note: Both these last two lists were updated Jan 2004 or before. The purpose of pointing this out to highlight the fact that new cameras have come on the market since. They may work with these drivers or have their own Mac Firewire drivers on their accompanying install CDs.
The Current list for Firewire Webcams is now here as linked above.
    For Tiger (10.4) and up.
Much of what has been said before applies to you as well. Most firewire web cams will work DV Camcorder will work. USB cameras can work with the correct Mac Driver and the iChatUSBCam utility.
    However....
10.4.9 now adds a driver for USB Video Class (UCV) web cams that will work with the OS and iChat. Not all USB video cams are of this type and iChatUSBCam is still needed.
    Mulit-Video Chatting
This was added to iChat at iChat 3 in Tiger (10.4.x)
As can be seen from the Specs linked earlier you need a Mac over a certain Spec (G4/1Ghz Dual) to be able to Host Video chats. (plus Internet Speed).
Ecamm come to people rescue again with PowerBoost if your Mac does not reach those specs.
    Leopard 10.5
In Leopard the criteria is also for a mac of a certain spec before you even start, This is a G4/867Mghz processor. If you have problems then see this Apple Doc There is also some evidence that this helps other macs with the same message even if not this spec machine.

  • Does iPhoto 9.6 work with iCloud Photo Library at all?

I have iOs 8.1, but I have not enabled iCloud Drive or iCloud Photo Library yet, and I have not updated to Yosemite yet. I don't want to activate those until I know how photos between thee mac and iPhone will work after they are enabled.
Does iPhoto 9.6 interact at all with iCloud Photo Library? Does it even "see" iCPL photos similar to PhotoStream? Can it import from there? Do any of the crops and edits come through in iPhoto from the iOS photos app (whether imported from the iCPL or even via direct d/l from the phone via usb?

So what are you guys doing to manage your photos until the OSX Photos app come out? Just not using iCloud Photo Library at all I assume?
Can you use iCloud photo library but still manually import photos into iPhoto from USB import?
You can view your iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and download from iCloud Photo Library (Beta) at https://beta.icloud.com  or https://www.icloud.com  on your Mac, if you click the "Photos" icon. Click the "?" mark, to view the help for "Photos". But you cannot yet upload directly from your Mac to this library, even if the iCloud Photos Help is saying otherwise.
You can download to your mac from your devices using USB, but with iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled on your iPad or iPhone, you can no longer sync photos to them using iTunes Photo sync. So it is hard to get any photos onto your devices at the moment, other than using Photo Stream. To upload  photos to your iPad/iPhone using iTunes you have to disable iCloud Photo Library. And the synced photos will be erased, when you enable iCloud Photo Library again.

The Mac has a lot of support for networking with other kinds of computers. It can use another computer's files and can use another computer's printers. It can offer its files and printers for use by others.
Windows does not believe there are any other kinds of computers .

  • My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    Hey there mbarikiwa,
If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

If the Belkin supports the A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) profile then it will work.

  • HT3748 since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mac Mail no longer works well w/exchange email; so, I have had to switch back to outlook. Now, how can I use outlook for mac's calendar and contacts with icloud?

Since uprgading to Mountain Lion, my mac mail no longer works with my exchange email properly. I finally gave up and moved back to outlook for mac, but now my new issue is using outlook calendar and contacts with icloud; possible?

Sorry but I'm really not to sure what I have. I'm not good with knowing my computer model. All I know is that its a MacBook running with Leopard. I got my computer last year so I suppose its fairly new. Is there a place on my computer where I can check to see what it is (sorry to be so dumb with my own mac)
And everything else works fine. I love Safari. It's just my mail that doesn't work. Here's the message that pop up several times.
"The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.mac.com” rejected the password for user “akcastaldo”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel."
The only problem here is, even though I enter my password it doesn't do anything. It makes that message go away for about 3-5 mins. After that it pops right back up. And I can't even go into my preference and change my email password. So I don't know what to do.

  • Why Does Live View In DW Not Work With BC Template?

The live view using a BC template in DW CS6 shows "PAGE NOT FOUND" in the body section but the header and footer look fine. I should also point out that the index.htm page works fine, it's just the other pages that have this problem. What makes it weirder is that the site works fine in all other modes including when viewing in a normal browser, it's ONLY when in live view! I also noticed that if I delete the .htm extension in the url in the DW browser when in Live View it fixes the problem, but this requires me to do this everytime I want to switch to live view and surely is either a problem with how the BC template files are named or DW CS6 is buggy? Hopefully this is an easy one to answer??

So Can My Mac Be Made To Work With iChatAV ?

So Can My Mac Be Made To Work With iChatAV ?
This question is asked by many who find their computer is below the G3/600Mghz Specs limit set for iChat
See here in the box to the top right for current specs.
Please note there are different Specs for Audio and Video chat.
It should be noted that the specs also list OS 10.3.x (Panther)
It is presumed that you are going to want to take as much advantage of iChat as you can. So I will talk about Video chatting.
    For Jaguar (10.2.5 - 10.2.8)
Prior to the beginning of Oct 2004 there was a Jaguar version of iChat AV on sale at the Apple Store as a download. If you are at 10.2.5 - 10.2.8 and downloaded the $29.95 Version 2.0 of iChat for Jaguar, in preperation of using iChat, before this date, you may find some of this information useful.
If you did not buy it, your only option is to upgrade to Panther.
    For Panther (10.3.x) and Jaguar (10.2.5 -10.2.8)
IF you fall below the G3/600 mark then you will need this utility from Ecamm.com This will enable iSight to work at lower spec machines. The current reported lower limit is around the G3/350Mhz mark.
It is also will enable USB cameras for use with iChatAV, but there is little in the way of substantive information about Sub G3/600 computers achieving this.
There have been about a dozen posts to say that it will use a USB cam on a G3 as low as 400Mgz
It should be noted that computers of this age tend to lack Multi-Tasking and will find that iChat will take up most of their processor time.

This former List of Firewire cameras contains a plain text mention of http://www.ioxperts.com/devices/webcam.htmlhttp://www.ioxperts.com/devices/webcam.html that work with the drivers already in the Mac OS. The download is not required. *See note below
This former List of DV camcorders that work with the drivers already in the Mac OS and now list just links to the manufactures.. *See note below. With the proviso of the note below this is a list to point out what cameras will work with iChat with the current OS (and some of the preceeding ones). The purpose of linking it here is for those comtemplating purchasing a camera.
Essentially any Firewire camera will work with the OS. Some MiniDV formats can not be seen by iChat though
*Note: Both these last two list were updated Jan 2004 or before. The purpose of pointing this out to highlight the fact that new cameras have come on the market since. They may work with these drivers or have their own Mac Firewire drivers on their accompanying install CDs.
The Current list for Firewire Webcams is now here as linked above.
10.4.9 now adds a driver for USB Video Class (UCV) web cams that will work with the OS and iChat. Not all USB video cams are of this type and iChatUSBCam is still needed.
    Mulit-Video Chatting
As can be seen from the Specs linked earlier you need a Mac over a certain Spec (G4/1Ghz Dual) to be able to Host Video chats. (plus Internet Speed).
