Does my macbook pro support itunes 7?

Can my macbook pro (2007) support itunes 7 which supports my iphone 5?  Currently,  have Mac OS X 10.5.8

You have to upgrade to 10.6.8 to be able to download iTunes 10.7. The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available at this time from Apple for $19.99. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If you wait to long and they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already over $100 on Amazon.

No.  10.7 never came one a disk.  Read this:
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion
If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
    After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

  • HT202856 What resolutions and refresh rates does the MacBook Pro support?

Why does this article provide lots of useful information EXCEPT the piece I want?  It does not show what resolutions and refresh rates the MacBook Pro supports over Displayport:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6008
I've heard it only supports 4k at 30 Hz.  Is this true?

For some reason Displays no longer shows that information, so I don't know what it is. However, the last time I saw the information on a 2009 MBP it was 75.
I'd think there is a utility around that might provide the info like Display Maestro 1.1.7 or SwitchResX.

The problem is that "similar" media do not qualify as archival media
    Nonsense, utterly UNTRUE.
Archival is 60+     Archival DVD + R  have been around now for nearly 17 years
Taiyo Yuden by JVC and others are rated for roughly 100 Years.
True longevity, long-term professional data protection. The Gold and Platinum standard
When it comes to long-term data protection, there is optical and there is NOTHING else, period. While modern notebooks and macbooks have forgone, for the most part internal optical DVD/CD readers/writers, this is most entirely due to the fact that commercial videos and movies have gone to online rentals and Itunes purchases, additionally nearly all software now is online purchase and download. The other reason for this is the removal of a 'high' failure point of an internal optical drive which is both mechanically complex, prone to dust on the laser diode lens due to users inserting dusty disks / media, and that the superdrive is not currently capable of fitting in the super-slim form factor machines such as the current Imac, Macbook Pro and especially the Macbook Air. However external USB DVD burners and readers are going nowhere anytime in the foreseeable future,... and until a new optical technology emerges for data preservation, DVD writers aren’t going anywhere.
Online media and software however has no bearing or impact on the fact that the fragile nature of ferromagnetic storage has not gotten any better now than it was 20 years ago aside from improved production specifications in physical hard drive builds. There are many that would point out in incorrect conjecture that “optical is a dying or dead medium”, such people don’t know what they're talking about and are directing their comments at optical based movies and software, not data archiving and protection which in fact is growing in scope, not declining.
While low grade consumer DVD blank media has a life between 8-15 years best case, professional DVD blank media has both a different standard of manufacture and chemically a different read/write layer that has serious professional longevity with 19 years real world testing and age-stress progression testing proving that at the very minimum, 60 years viable protection if stored correctly and in some patented mfg. standards, 100+ years data retention and preservation. While "gold" disks have been superceeded by even better technology manufacted disks, this is still a term of reference as implying professional DVD blank media.
In fact a new breed of disks that use a higher powered write-laser are commercially available and have a rated life of 1000 years and are referred to as M-DISK. Governments, military, and professional businesses have much time and money invested in high-importance data storage on optical media out of necessity given the extremely fragile nature of ferromagnetic storage.  Such new optical technology creates permanent pits in the disk surface, which are not affected by light like consumer DVD media which uses a organic dye layer to write and read from of the data.
While DVD media are only 4.7GB single layer in scope, and cannot store massive amounts of data, not even by the 100-pack, most vitally important priority data people own are picture collections, texts, audio, and other small scale media. In such an evaluation, high priority data is necessitated out of prudence, to be written to professional archival grade DVD media, not low-grade consumer DVD blanks. Such professional DVD blank media is only roughly 30% more expensive than low grade consumer DVD blank media.

  • Does the MacBook Pro support external screen rotation?

    Hi people,
I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 GHZ (with a GeForce 8600M GT), and I'd like to buy an external 22" screen that supports 90° rotation (Hyundaï W220D fyi
Does my computer with this graphic card support such a feature?
    Thanks

Go to System Preferences>Displays, look at the window on the external display, there you'll see "Rotate", use the "Gather Windows" button on the internal display, select the desired angle, hit "Confirm", then physically rotate the external display. You can alter this sequence, but it might be difficult to move the cursor on the rotated display. (Nice skill though:-)

  • Does the macbook pro support hdmi input with the adapter?

I'm still deciding whether buying an hdmi adapter would be worth the money or not. All I want to know, is if the macbook supports hdmi input (I'm well aware that it supports input) so I could use the laptop monitor as a gaming display and what not. All positive answers appriciated, thanks!

Are you talking about something like this?
    Or something like this?

  • How much hotness does a MacBook Pro support without any damages?

I've been having some doubts about the wellness of my computer, which is almost new. I got it around 2 weeks ago, maybe a little more days than that, as a replacement for a previous one. I decided to run the AHT (Apple Hardware Test) 8 times in a row to get as far away from any insecurities as possible, but yet, I don't know how accurate this test can be. I ran the complete ones, and let it connected the whole period of time.
What got me into running the test was the fact that, when taking it back home on the trunk (still packaged) we casually happened to go through some really sketchy roads for about half an hour. Roads that were covered by little rocks and not plain concrete. After that, we passed over roads that weren't even covered in concrete, but just fine soil, with road bumps almost every 21 yards, and potholes appearing oftenly (d*mmit). It's the kind of roads you find on rustic towns in Mexico. The ride wasn't chaotically horrible, but it wasn't comfortable at all, either. I'm just trying to get the picture straight.
Anyways: My question derives from the point that, during the tests, the device isn't working in a normal manner indeed, but inspecting each and every internal part of hardware, in comparison to a normal usage of running programs and letting the fan do its job to cool off the system. In these tests, the fan just works when it is time to check it, as far as I understand it. Since I ran the test for 8 times "straight", and some minutes more, maybe 10 or so, I'm wondering about if I committed a mistake when doing all of that. I decided to turn it off and almost immediately thought about it. I pulled up the laptop and felt the lower-left side as very hot, and when I say that, I do mean it was really hot. Maybe it sounds silly, but I got this worry that, possibly, something inside could have deteriorated from the heat, but these computers are, supposedly, very resistent as a whole. I also wonder if it's bad to let the AHT run for so long, I mean, if it could "wear off" the hardware, any of it.
I'd like my whole post to be answered as thoroughly as possibly, and not simply yes/no answers without some explanation to make it clearer and better as a response. I'd thank you for that very much, and pardon me for my possible obsessions, but technology is delicate, and I just want my computer to be fine. I trust you understand.

So, what do you recommend? Is it fine if I leave it like that? Should I take it to someone else to get it checked, to get my doubts cleared? Where I live, there aren't any Apple Stores, so it means no Genius Bars, unfortunately, but the people who work at the "iShops" are capable enough to reach the level, or at least that's what they say. They practically take your computer to a room at the back of the place, close the door, and then they come out with the according verdict.

  • How well does my macbook pro support Civil Engineering programs?

I'm starting college in a few months, and im really hoping macs can be compatible with CAD software and other needed programs. Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the programs I'll have to use. Hopefully you guys will know from experience

If the Mac OS is not compatible with the CAD apps you'll need to run, you can always install Windows using Boot Camp or (perhaps) Parallels desktop. I personally use Parallels to run WinXP and the apps that aren't available for the Mac - namely Adobe's LiveCycle Designer. Use that Mac for college - you'll be the envy of your friends.

  • This Question is at least 2.5 years old.  But still an issue.  I have an early 2008 and mid 2010 13 inch macbook pro running iTunes 10.7.  Itunes on both machines doesn't recognize blank cds or allow me to import from a music cd when I insert it.

iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro keep freezing?

Why does my MacBook Pro freeze?
    MacBook Pro
    2.4 GHz intel Core2 Duo
    4BB 1067 MHz DDR3
    OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
I turned it on and I went to safari to look things up. Safari froze and then the whole thing became unresponsive - the mouse could move the cursor but it couldn't open any programmes.
Tried safe boot several times. No help.
Tried to repair disc permissions. The first time it got a little way then said 'user stopped repair' or something  - though I didn't touch it. Tried again it got all the way through and said 'repairs complete'. But no help.
Couldn't clear cache etc as couldn't get to the relevant part to do it.
Opened in single user mode. Ran the fsck -fy thing twice. First time it said both “The volume appears to be OK” AND “FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED.” In 2nd run it just said  “The volume appears to be OK”. No help.
Booted it up from the Superduper bootable backup version on a USB external drive. It seemed to boot up ok but then tried to click on something and the same thing happened - spinning beach ball and it just hung.
Erased hard drive and reinstalled snow leopard but it just does the same thing. Suggesting a hardware issue not software but...the Eerie thing is, we tried backup version on boyfriends Mac Pro and it worked fine on there but 24hrs later his Mac Pro has got exactly the same screen freezing, unresponsive issue. Could this suggest there's something evil lurking on my back up? Can't get an appointment at Genius Bar until next week and need to get some work done, so hoping someone might have some ideas?
    Cheers

... does Apple products work much better with using Apple routers?
While a genuine Apple router is likely to result in success, the reason for having one instead of another product is that it eliminates a lot of uncertainty. For example, we do not know the model D-Link product you have so no one is in position to speculate what the problem might be. Also, it makes support on this forum easier since there are only three AirPort models to choose from and they all work more or less the same.
Generally speaking your iPods, iPads, MacBooks, and AppleTV ought to work with any router though, provided it is fairly recent and meets accepted industry standards. If in doubt you can purchase an AirPort Base Station, which comes with 90 days of free telephone support. If it does not result in any improvement for you, you can always return it for a complete refund. The return period is 14 days and be sure to keep all material - receipt, box, manuals, etc...
If you elect this option be sure to follow its installation instructions, the most important of which is to power down your modem prior to connecting the AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule. All your other equipment will need their network settings adjusted to "forget" the D-Link network and connect to the new one.

Why does my macbook pro "goes to sleep" when charging? It is working fine without charging but once I attach the charger to my laptop, it just blacks out or goes to sleep mode and I can't wake it up unless I unpluck the charger.
I read from threads that it is a logic board problem....How do I solve this problem?

Try an SMC reset. Follow the method for "a battery you should not remove yourself."

MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!
