Does my macbook support windows 8.1 on bootcamp?

Hi guys, I've been super frustrated while trying to install Windows 8.1 on my macbook.
I have a mid 2010 15" macbook pro and a windows 8.1 64 install disk.
I've been successfully partitioning bootcamp but when it restarts and goes to the window set up, it's stuck on a blue windows page with a black background and noting happens.
I am running OS X Maverick with all the software updated.
Any help here?
Or does my macbook not support windows 8.1?

Here are the official Apple support pages for this.
Your mac does support windows 8.1.
Boot Camp: Windows installation boots to black screen with blinking cursor
Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
Disconnect all your usb peripherals and reboot
Hope this helps out.

  • Does SAP BW support Window vista.

    hi Friends,
Does SAP BW support Window vista.
I have got a laptop with Vista, I have installed SAP BW in external Harddisk. Can I connect with VMWare on window vista of my laptop.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Alykya

-> what do you mean "installed on external disk"?
sap needs to be installed locally...some parts, eg. databse files etc. can be spread over sveral disks...but on windows all information needs to be in the registry...
you could install vmware under vista, create a new virtual machine using for example windows 2003 server and install sap into that vm...

I can't run iPod utility for Windows in my Windows 8 . does this apps support windows 8 ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iPod Utility for Windows hasn't been updated for a long time, so it's probably not supported in Windows 8. Have you tried to run it in compatibility mode?

  • Why does Verizon not support Windows 8 for wi fi?

Why does Verizon not support Windows 8 for wi fi?  Are they planning on supporting Windows 8?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Verizon wi fi for hot spots does not work with Windows 8.  For verification go to FAQs about Verizon Wi-Fi for FiOS Internet,
http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/Internet/fiosinternet/networking/setup/wi-fi/124650.htm , and click on How do I know if my laptop or netbook is compatible with Verizon Wi-Fi? .  Verizon wireless home network does work well with Windows 8.
Since you can't even download the wi fi for hot spots software if you have Windows 8, I don't know how to use compatability mode to get around the problem,

It appears from the web that the current Firefox browser does not fully support Windows 8.1 64-bit. Is an updated version planned that will fully support Windows 8.1 64-bit, and if so when is the expected release?

the current version is firefox 26 - 27 is going to be released this week. if you download either of those, you'll just get the normal firefox browser on desktop as you're used to. firefox 28 which is also going to be released as beta this week will include a (minimalist) touch-optimized version of firefox for the windows metro ui...

  • Does iTunes U Support Windows (for Real)?

    iTunes U Mavens,
    Would you help?
    Clarification is requested.
Last week, I was extolling the benefits of trying iTunes U to a Department Chair.
The Chair replied that they'd looked at iTunes U several months ago...and decided not to use it because it is "...only for the Apple iPad", and "...we can't exclude students who use Windows, Androids, etc."
So...many Google searches later...it seems like there was a point-in-time when iTunes U was iPad-specific--but that is no longer the case?
Candidly, after reading several iTunes U items on Apple's website...I'm confused. A few Apple artifacts seem to refer to an iPad-only technology platform while other Apple items suggest cross-platform.
Does...or does not...iTunes U support Windows? Android? Etc.
If there was an historical iPad-only context...(circa) when was that restriction relaxed? Changed?
While it seems to me iTunes U works with Windows...yet there's conflicting information. When going back to the Dept Chair...I'd like to take up-to-date, authoritative information from Apple on this mater.
Would you be so kind as to point me in a productive direction to obtain an Apple-authoritative communique on this point?
    Many thanks!
    Plane Wryter

The new iTunes U App and iTunes U Courses format are specifically designed to take advantage of iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) to teach a FULL course utilizing those mobile devices. The platform allows for the easy integration of digital books, Apps, and other materials from the iTunes Store and the web into courses. While public courses are available on desktop computers (both Mac and PC) the whole iTunes U Course experience is best on iOS Devices.  You can read about the features of iTunes U Courses at www.itunesu.com.
Previously, content on iTunes U was essentially podcast feeds. This format is still available and is known as iTunes U Collections. But, being that they are simply RSS feeds, they only support the delivery of audio, video, and PDF files.

  • Does JRE 6 support Windows Vista 64 bit with AMD64?

Although I have installed JRE-6-beta2-windows-amd64 and JRE-6-beta2-windows-i586 seperately and together on my AMD 64 system running Vista RC1 Build 5727, java does not appear in The Control Panel, nor is it mentioned anywhere in Internet Explorer Options.
    So, is this configuration supported?
As a side issue, is this why Flash Player won't install either?

  • Does Cinema really support Windows?

I bought the 27" Cinema display for my computer anticipating a DVI or HDMI connection.
Now I learned I need an atlona dual link converter (extra $200).
This seems too good to be true.
Has anyone actually succeeded at connecting a PC to the 27" Cinema display?
I ask because in past situations this is where Apple teaches me a lesson-- for example the display detects Windows is somehow involved and fails aggressively (i.e. it just won't sync to anything but a Mac).
For bonus points: do I need to buy all related extension cords or something else extra to get it to work?

    Hi Ryan,
the LED Cinema Display does only have the Mini DisplayPort as you can read here:
    http://www.apple.com/de/displays/specs.html
However, it runs just fine on my MacBook Pro with Windows 7 (via the MiniDisplay Port of my MacBook Pro).
I did some research, but while there are a lot of (cheap) adapters from Mini DisplayPort to HDMI or DVI (that is, to connect a Mac to a HDMI device), there seem to be only few (and expensive) DVI/HDMI to Mini Display Port adapters.
An alternative to the ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter you mention (199 $ in Apple Store US) might be the HDMI->MiniDisplayPort adapter from Belkin, if you have an HDMI out on you graphic card: Belkin AV360 HDMI-to-Mini DisplayPort Converter (149 $ in Apple Store US).
    Best,

  • Re: Does Satellite C660 support Windows 7 64bit?

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook C660/01C PSC0LA-01C01H came with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit installed. I later upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
This supports a maximum of 4 Gb RAM.
The Celeron Dual-Core T3500 CPU supports 64-bit processing according to the Celeron and C660 specs.
Will the other hardware and firmware -- data bus and BIOS, etc. -- support 64-bit memory addressing if I install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. CAN I even install Win7 64-bit?
    Regards,
    Hedley

If you want to get hardware details about your notebook, why you dont install an hardware diagnostic tool like Everest Home Edit or SANDRA Sisoft.
By the way; as far as I know there are different C660 Satellite series on the market and there are also Win 7 64bit drivers available on the driver page.
So tell me why an notebook manufacturer should release Win 7 64bit drivers if such system would not be compatible?
For me it does not make any sense

  • Does my MacBook support HD output?

    I am considering buying this monitor - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=e n&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7438
I have a MacBook 4,1 which has a mini DVI port for output?
As you may notice from the link, this monitor supports full HD content. My question - is my MacBook capable of HD output? If not, then what kind of compatibility (i.e. screen resolution and picture quality) can I expect between the monitor and my MacBook?
Also, what all connectors/converters would I need to buy to get things working? Which connection would give me a better resolution (DVI or VGA)?

    It should work.
The maximum supported resolution is 1920x1200. It should be able to share information with the monitor and adjust the output resolution to match that of the monitor.
You could use the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adapter, since the monitor seems to come with a DVI cable. You might also try a special mini-DVI to DVI cable like the following:
