Does my Satellite M100 has Ethernet LAN card?

hi guys, im just new here. i would just like to ask how will i know if i have an ethernet LAN card? please do help...
thanks guys fr helping

Hi dude!
I believe there is a Portege M100 and a Satelitte M100... Which of this do you have?
As most of the laptop on our days, both this come with a LAN port as well.
If the one you have is the Satelitte M100 you can see the LAN Port in this picture I found.
The LAN port is the 2nd port from the right side. I believe this is in the back of the laptop.

  • Does my Satellite A80 has Bluetooth?

does my satellite A80 have bluetooth - I believe there is a bul$ilt in device, there is even the bluetooth logo - but when i try to connect, it says there is no bluetooth device found ????

    Hello
On some Satellite A80 units the Bluetooth function is not available.
It would be very interesting to know the completely name of your unit.
    Its a Satellite A80-xxx?
But if your unit has no Bluetooth so you can use a Bluetooth PCMCIA card or a Bluetooth USB stick.

  • Satellite 1130-Z23 W-Lan Card installation

    Hi!
I have a Mini PCI W-LAN Card fr my Satellite 1130-Z23, now i have 2 cables, one black and one white. I have to put them in the righ adapter on the Card.
Which ist the right one for AUX and the right one for MAIN?

I have also googled a bit and have seen the black going into the main- see the picture:

Ok, in order to avoid confusion see how the antennas are placed BEHIND of the TFT screen:
They start from the minipci place:
    http://atheros.goofle.de/minipcislot.jpg
This is how the antenna cables look like when not installed on the TFT housing:

And this, when they are installed: One to the left, and one to the right:

It really is unimportant which color goes where, but, just to be 100% sure, use mike30 's suggestion :)

  • Can I modify jumpstart server boot image to support another LAN card?

I tried to install Solaris 9 from jumpstart server. However, Solaris 9 does not support my on-board LAN Card. As a result, I try to install Solaris 10 beta 55 from jumpstart server. It is a good news to me that Solaris 10 beta 55 does support "Intel 82801DB PRO/100 VE Ethernet". The installation is successfull. However, there is a problem when I install Windows XP on another DOS partition. I have no idea why the installation of MS Windows XP will crash the Solaris 10 beta 55 partition. Durning boot process in Solaris 10, There are a lot of Solaris partition errors. It is not a good idea to install Solaris 10 until the release comes out.
I think that it should be possible to modify Solaris 9 jumpstart server so that I can use Solaris 10 beta cd to kick up LAN driver and call Solaris 9 jumpstart server to install the OS.

You can use a "prestart command". It can be configured in the properties of each boot image, 'customization' tab.

    Hi
Toshiba notebooks dont support any Linux distributions. Toshiba notebooks are delivered and tested only with Microsoft Windows OS.
As far as I know this unit was delivered with Marvell based PC Express I/F LAN (I/F Chip Marvell based PC Express I/F)
Well, you can try to goggle a little bit. Maybe you will find a driver for Linux.
Furthermore the Fedora Core 4 is based on a Red Hat Linux distribution. So I recommend to visit also this website:

    Good luck

  • Cannot install LAN driver on Satellite M100-221

    I reinstalled OS on my Satellite M100 - 221 PSMA0E.
IT previously used Windows XP Home Edition, and now I installed Windows XP Professional SP2. I have an error in my DEVICE MANAGER with ethernet controller, mass storage controller,SM bus controller. But let's stick to ETHERNET CONTROLLER.
I download the genuine LAN driver from Toshiba official website, and every time I'm trying to install it I get the message "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".
In NETWORK UPADATE wizard I don't even have option to choose Realtek driver, only Intel and some others. My network adapter worked great on preinstalled XP Home edition. What am I suppose to do? Please HELP!!!

    Hi,
I guess you should try the intel drivers instead of the realtek drivers because your machine was shipped with an Intel LAN chipset.
So, please visit the intel website (www.intel.com) and download the latest LAN drivers from their homepage.
It should work and you should have soon a working ethernet connection.

  • Satellite L850 - Unidentified network trying to use LAN card

I have the Satellite L850 and have been using the wireless without any issues.
Now I find I cannot get the network to work just using my Ethernet cable.
I have tried disabling the wifi and enabling the realtech PCIe family controller, which is the LAN connection, but I keep getting unidentified network.
Is there some sort of confliction between the wifi even though it is disabled and the LAN connection.
I am tearing my hair out. The LAN worked fine before I decided to try the WIFI.

    Hi
The Unidentified Network problem can be related to different causes and therefore different workarounds could be possible.
First of all I would recommend you to uninstall the LAN card driver.
This can be done within the device manager. After the driver has been removed, reboot the notebook and install the LAN driver which you could download from the Toshiba driver page.
2nd workaround: Reset the reset TCP/IP protocol
To do that, check the Microsoft knowledge base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Check also if you some security tools (Mcafee, firewall, antivirus software) dont affect the network connectivity.

  • Screen does not turn on after start up, but after standby on Satellite M100

    Hi,
I have quite some experience with computers and laptops, but this problem exhausted all my knowledge.
My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite M100, PSMA1E. It runs Windows XP, currently on SP3.
The laptop always had shutdown/stand bye issues. It would go on stand bye and the screen would not come back. She usually would turn it off manually (holding the power button) and turn it on again.
Same thing happened last week, but with me. I turned it off holding the power button but when I turned it back on the screen was completely black. After a few attempts I realized that everything was working; I could hear XP booting and the usual sound files but there was no way I could get the screen working.
The strangest thing is that the CMOS/BIOS screen, the first one with the Toshiba logo, also does not show up. If it was a OS problem I thought I would be able to access the BIOS at least, but that doesn't work. Fn+F5 also doesn't work.
Then something even stranger happened. I was turning it on and off with keyboard shortcuts and I realized that if I put it on stand bye using shortcuts and then turn it back on the screen turns on perfectly fine (there is some resolution adjustment cause icons are out of place, but it works perfectly well).
From that on I tried everything I know. BIOS update, all Windows XP updates, all Toshiba QuickFix, cleaning the registry with different tools, uninstalling and reinstalling the video driver (ATI Radeon X1400), HotKeys utility, Power Saver Utility, Toshiba Hardware Tools, looking at start up programs, services, everything I could possibly think off.
What really puzzles me is that the Toshiba start up screen won't show up. I can't access the BIOS, but I tried restoring BIOS standard values through Toshiba Hardware Tools. It didn't work. I don't even know if reinstalling XP will work because every time I turn it on it's all black and I need to do the stand bye/turn back on trick.
When I plugged it on a external monitor I could see the whole start up process (BIOS initial screen and Windows). I then tried to access the display configuration of the video driver but it would only show the external monitor. It would only detect the laptop screen after a stand bye/turn back on, and then it worked perfectly well: two simultaneous screens, extended screen, everything. Ah, changing the BIOS from Auto-Select to LCD+external monitor also does not work.
I'm really puzzled here and I can't figure this one out. I really don't think it's a hardware issue, because the screen works 100% after the stand bye. I guess XP is making something during shut down that completely 'shuts down' my screen, even after boot, and then I can only turn it on with the stand bye thing.
Any help would be really appreciated!
    Best,

    Hi mate,
that whole story sounds really weirdo since after reading all this and knowing that youve tried almost everything doesnt makes it better.. :/
Usually I would say: update your BIOS, but you already updated everything. This problem could be BIOS related since the initialization of the hardware after a standby is controlled by the chipset trough the BIOS.
I guess it could also be something with the background light of the LCD screen (failed initialization after waking up), you can check this by reproducing the situation with the black screen and holding some light near the screen. If you can see some schemes on the screen (something like desktop, etc..) then it could be the background lighting. In such case try to reinstall the operating system and update all installed drivers to the newest version (yes I know, sounds like more pain).
Otherwise, click [HERE|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT], find the nearest authorized service partner in your country, contact them and ask them for a hardwarecheckup. Maybe its really a hardware related issue..
    Greets and good luck

  • Satellite A - LAN card stopped working

I purchased my A series in April 08 and a few weeks ago the LAN card stopped working. It just won't connect and can't get emails and doesn't connect to any web pages.
Currently have the computer working off wireless but does anyone know how to fix the LAN Card problem.

    Hi!
Which Satellite notebook do you have exactly?
Does the notebook recognize a LAN cable if you plug in it? Is the LAN connection enabled in Windows?
Try to update the LAN driver and the BIOS. Both you can find on the Toshiba website:

what is the solutions here??? Thanks

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the response....
The second issue of Linux OS has been solved, the issue was caused by the ATI card which was not supported.
    Regarding the FN issue, I can use FN+F1 & F2 & F3 & F4 & F5, for the rest of the option of F6 & F7 & F8 till F12 is not working with me!!
I checked the usage of the buttons and its all working, only with the feature of using it with Fn key its not working!!! This issue is on Windows XP.
I tried to update and to re-install the keyboard and re-install the FN features but nothing happen.
    Before it was working great.
Just to remind my notebook is Satellite M100 series.

Windows Server will not have built in support for Tenda cards. In fact, finding a suitable driver for it will not be easy. You could try the manufacturer, ShenzhenTenda Technology.

  • Satellite 2430 wirles-lan card is not supported by windows xp

i have a MPC13A-20/R internal w-lan card in my satellite 2430-201 , and have downloaded and installed the updated driver (wlesslan-xp-7620390) from toshiba.
The hardware is recognized, but will not configure.
windows xp gives me the standard failer article 871122 to read, which is hopelessly uninformative.
I have service pack 2 installed as well as all other available updates, and my BIOS version is V1.3
    what do ya think?

    Hi
MPC13A-20/R wireless card is produced by Agere Systems. Like you can see updated driver that you downloaded is just for wireless card produced by Toshiba. On Toshiba download site there is under company registered Toshiba and version is 7.62.0.390.
In your case you need Agere driver for your wireless card. Please visit producer site and I am sure that there you will find right driver for MPC13A-20/R wireless card.
    Good luck!

  • Re: Does Satellite A10-S703 supports WLan card

I would like to know if my notebook has wireless network card Wi-Fi?
Toshiba Satellite A10-S703 Model No PSA10E-17UFC-AR

The Wlan card is optional in this notebooks series.
This means that some A10 could be equipped with the WLan card and some units are not delivered with the internal minPCI WLan card
You can check this very easily.
Access the device manger and extend the network adapters.
If a WLan card was installed then you should see it!
