Does my Skype number receive text messages or only...

Hi. I am about to leave the US back packing and I need people to be able to text me, not just call me. I am not sure that skype number is the best option for me.

I can't receive text messages from only 1 contact

The past two days, I haven't been able to get the texts that were sent to me from only One Person. I tried the *228 number, and I also tried taking the battery out and resetting my phone. Someone please help me fix this ASAP!

The fact that this text messaging issue is isolated to only one contact indicates that your phone is able to send and receive text messages successfully on our network and the issue needs to be addressed by that particular contact and his/her wireless provider. Please have your friend contact his/her wireless provider for any text messaging issues on their end.

Why am I having trouble receiving text messages from only some people

I have turned off my imessaging and only some of my contacts are having trouble sending messages to me when they have imessage turned on. They receive a message that says Not Delivered. Why am I having this issue with only some of my contacts? How can I fix this?

I was quite specific about which .plist to delete as if you have no other issues it is pointless deleting the AIM or Subnet (Bonjour) or Yahoo ones as they will not effect the Jabber logins.
Deleting the LLSharing list one only removes items from the Recent Lists in the File menu > Recent Items.
The Status Messages one only deletes the Saved Status Messages you may have made for Buddy lists.
Deleting com.apple.ichat.plist itself mostly messes up your Preferences and some menu choices.
Try deleting com.apple.imagent.plist as this is involved with logging in the Accounts to the various servers.

Brand New Iphone 5c can't send or receive text messages of any kind!? I've tried everything, why does no one have a solution for this? There's no way we're keeping a phone that can't even perform one of it's most basic functions. Help!

Got the new Iphone 5c from Verizon today and was really happy with the phone until we realized it is unable to send or recieve text messages AT ALL. We've tried everything, searched the internet for hours, I've tried live chatting with Verizon and Apple ALL DAY and somehow keep getting "disconnected" even though my internet is working perfectly. The phone is pretty much useless if it's unable to perform one of it's main functions and it's really dissapointing to add a line, get the phone, only to discover a major problem with seemingly no solution whatsoever. Is there any fix for this? Because a phone that is incapable of sending or receiving a simple SMS message is pretty much useless. It's too bad too because I really love the phone if not for that. Does anyone have a legitimate way to solve this problem? We've done everything, network resets, turning imessaging on and off, factory reset, etc. etc. etc. and nothing works. Please help.

I know your device sends and receives text messages! Let's get to work on this! Did you port your service from another carrier, or is this a new number? Is your previous device still powered on?
I also want to ask if you are able to use iMessaging, and if you see any error message when sending?
Please test it by sending a message to your own mobile number, and keep us posted!

How do I set up my ipad to receive text messages? I cannot locate my iPhone number to select it.

I am unable to set up my ipad to receive text messages from my phone. My phone number does not show up in the settings/iMessage section. Only my email.

NOTE: You will still only be able to receive iMessages on the iPad. It does not do SMS at all unless yougo to a third party app.

You should have turned iMessage off before disabling the phone. Do you still have the phone so you can turn iMessage off? If not, you will need to go to Apple support on their website and delete the product from your profile.

All of a sudden I can not receive text messages on my MOTOX. Does anyone know how to solve this problem. I can send them, but can't receive them.

My MOTO X was working fine, then all of a sudden, I can not receive text messages. I have checked the settings and they look correct to me, and I have done everything the web site recommends, except wiping the phone and starting over, to try and fix it. You can only add iPhone phone numbers which are actively signed into your apple ID on iMessage.

I receive text messages that should include a hyperilnk but it does not show.

I receive text messages that should include a hyperlink for google map. For a while it was working fine. All of the sudden the link doesn't show in the message anymore. I thought they had stopped sending them but comparing the same message with another phone, the link was in that one.
Am I missing a setting or was anything changed with the upgrades that I don't see the links anymore?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sign out of iMessage on the iPad. If you are using the same AppleID on both devices for iMessage, that is expected behavior.

yeah this is a tricky one i have a family mac account and my son was receivind my imessages, just ensure that your imessages are only being received on your phon number i had our shared email in there aswell and thats whay he was receiving them, so settings/messages/send receive and make sure that it only has your number.

My phone is not receiving text messages and depending on where I am it also does not send, it gives me a message failure. Then if I send it as a text message instead of imessage it will go.
