Does my solution database need a designated TREX
Hello all,
I'm about to setup a new SD environment for a client.
They want a solution database, and already have a few trex instances on their ECC environment.
So these are already in use.
Can I use these nonetheless for my Solution Database?
Or should I install a new one on my SolMan machine?
regards,
David
Hello David,
TREX can be installed directly on the Solution Manager system or externally from the Solution Manager system, much like the Solman BI can be installed locally or on a BW system.
I hope this answers your question.

Paul

Using Solution Database (IS01) in SolMan without TREX
Hi all,
I just wanted to use the solution database within SolMan, which comes with the standard CRM functionality (IS01). Unfortunately I always receive dumps when creating (SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC) and searching (OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED_NO) for problems and solutions.
Afterwards I found that the installation of the TREX server is required and this is maybe the reason. Is this true?
How can I run the solution database without the installation of a TREX? Is this possible?
Please help.
Thank you very much in advance, and have a nice weekend.
Stefan BauertHello Charan,
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I went through the wizard of TCode "CRMC_SAF_WZ_SE" and entered requested program, but I was leaving detailed data for http and so on blank.
After that I went to TCode "CRMC_SAF_ADV_CLIENT" and wanted to enter the recommended description to "Learning Enginge Description". The following 2 entries already exist:
DEFAULT_ASPR Spreading Activation
DEFAULT_PURE Pure Correlation
Do I need to enter a new entry, or just paste the program name into one of these entries?
However the creation of a problem is still failing with dump OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED.
Finally my question: If I do not want to use the service desk for this, can I use the solution DB without TREX?
thanks and regards

Is TREX for a Solution Database mandantory
hey,
simple question:
do i need a TREX for the solution database?
or can i run the sol.db. without any TREX installation?
kind regard
dirkhello amit,
thanks for your quick answer.
but there are still some question-marks.
our plan is to use and fill the solution database in the first phase of our project.
and when we see, in three or six month, that we really need this, we will install trex.
so, can i use solution database without trex? when you say that without trex no search is possible - what is possible? see all solution database entries in a long list? or is it defently not possible to fill solution database with ta IS01 w/o trex?
i hope you can help.
thanks a lot and kind regards
dirk
Hello Dirk,
You would require TREX for the Solution Database. Without TREX, the search functionality would not work.
I hope this answers your query.

Setup solution database - "2007 index does not exist"
Hi all,
after setting up the solution database following the Implementation Guide on a Solution Manager 7 SP 19 system, I created some test problem and solution articles and linked them.
When I try to do now a full compilation for the first time via SAF Diagnosis, Goto > Indexes, then the error message "2007 - index does not exist" comes up.
So, I checked the customizing and did the customizing again. I assigned the Knowledge Base SDB to a higher level than its sub knowleged bases SDB Problems, SDB Solutions like this:
SDB
- SDBATTACHEMENT
- SDBICS
- SDB PROBLEMS
- SDB SOLUTIONS
- SDB SOLUTIONS DOC
Anyway, the same error message
I checked some threads but it didn´t help so far.
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3414900)ID1583639050DB00866280264985025627End blog=/pub/wlg/7522
Did anyone solved this issue?
How can I activate the index?
Any hints/ ideas are highly appreciated.
janHi guys, just to get the thread up.. quite important.
Is there anyone who can share some ideas? -
Check Index Existence - Trex SOLMAN Solution Database Issue
Hi Experts,
I have done all the configuration part for having solution database functionality in SAP SOLMAN system. Our basis team has also installed TREX successfully.
But while checking in transaction CRMC_SAF_TOOL, everything is green except Check ndex Existence.
We are getting the below error messages:
Failed [Check=Index Existence ,Knowledge Base=SDB ,Language=E]
Failed [0 ]
Failed [No. of Documents=1-]
On discussion with Basis Team, I came to know that Indexes are getting created at putty level and while going to the indexes (Menu - Goto- Indexex (F8) in CRMC_SAF_TOOL, everything is seems to be fine and successful. No error there.
Please suggest where I am going wrong as I am still not able to search in IS02.
Thanks & Regards,
MadhuHello,
Sometimes this error is seen when an older version of Trex being used.
Are you on a current version of Trex? If not you may want to consider upgrading to a current version?
Additionally, sometimes documents saved via content management cannot be indexed,
as no url can be determined for them.
4. knowledgebase SDB_ATTACHMENT:
The URL's do not get determined and this is why nothing would be
put to TREX.
Herefore, please follow the following note:
685521 Logon data for /sap/bc/contentserver service
This may explain the HTTP:/no. DOcuments =1- error ???
So please ensure you have set the URL for the content server as per Note 685521

Creation of a symptom/problem in CRM.(Solution Database)
Hi All,
Can anybody tell me what are the mandatory parameters for creation of a symptom/problem in solution database.
I am using a bapi:
BAPI_SYMPTOM_CREATE
can anybody tell me what all fields need to be populate for successful creation of a symptom.
It would also be nice if you can throw some light on the use/documentation regarding this bapi.
I am verifying the creation of symptom in table ISMP.Since when i create a symptom through transaction: IS01 it gets created in ISMP table but not through my BAPI. Please help.
<b>Full points will be awarded.</b>
Thanks in advance.
ashish.Hi ,
u can create problem and solution in SDB,
by doing
Basic settings-->define number ranges (this is done by BASIS guys on SAF)
BASIC data filed is not required,
problems(prob type , prob subtype,define application area)
Solutions Solution type)
confugure this fields only ,
all the remaining fileds used to Activity, catalog Mgmt)
dont go with bapi's
u can use LSMW , this is better.
otherwise copy paste all the FAQ's manually in the system , and compile the Server for Delta compile, fullcompile, cluster compile,

Does Macbook Air '12 need an Antivirus or Antimalware program?
Does Macbook Air '12 need an Antivirus or Antimalware program? If yes, what is most used?
This comment applies to malicious software ("malware") that's installed unwittingly by the victim of a network attack. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an attacker who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files. The recognition database is automatically updated once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders. In most cases, there’s no benefit from any other automated protection against malware. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been another layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't actually been tested by Apple (unless it comes from the Mac App Store), but you can be sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. For most practical purposes, applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed can be considered safe.
Note, however, that there are some caveats concerning Gatekeeper:
It can be disabled or overridden by the user.
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets (see below.)
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
For more information about Gatekeeper, see this Apple Support article. That being said, the best defense against malware is your own intelligence. All known malware on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. If you're smarter than the malware attacker thinks you are, you won't be duped. That means, primarily, that you never install software from an untrustworthy source. How do you know a source is untrustworthy?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is untrustworthy.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn users who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
“Cracked” copies of commercial software downloaded from a bittorrent are likely to be infected.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. No intermediary is acceptable.
Java on the network (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related) is a weak point in the security of any operating system. If a Java web plugin is not installed, don't install it unless you really need it. If it is installed, you should disable it (not JavaScript) in your web browsers. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This setting is mandatory in OS X 10.5.8 or earlier, because Java in those obsolete versions has known security flaws that make it unsafe to use on the Internet. The flaws will never be fixed. Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java can never be fully trusted, even if no vulnerabilities are publicly known at the moment.
Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can reasonably be.
Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use the free software ClamXav — nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability and poor performance.
By modifying the system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
ClamXav doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. Using it to delete or move email messages can corrupt the Mail database. Such messages must be deleted from within the Mail application. ClamXav is not needed for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. If you don't need to do that, avoid it. Windows malware can't harm you directly. Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, like a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use. -
Service Desk - Solution Database - Solution retreival
I am trying to setup solution database for service desk.
1. I have set up TREX on the same host
2. Connected ABAP and TREX through a TCP/IP RFC
3. Completed configuration for the solution database using the available wizards
4. CRM_SAF_TOOL- all checks show greens
I am able to create a solution in a transaction using the "create solution in solution database" link.
My issue is:
When I go to another transaction and try to search for a available solution I do get get any results of the search. The short text used of both the transaction for which the solution was created and the transaction from which I am searching the SDB are the same.
What am I missing?
Thanks

I am going to buy either a Mac Air or Mac Pro Retina 8GB RAM and 256GB. And as I have to still run Windows programs I will install Parallels 9. As the Mac are both 64bit machines does that mean I need to install Windows 7 64bit or just install 32 bit? (Going with Win7 as I hate Win8). And I will install Office Pro 2013 64 bit too or 32 bit or is that automatically selected by the underlying OS (I use Word, Excel and Access mainly for a membership database of a local club) ? I am not a power user so would appreciate advice on way to go
Again thank you. If I only use word, excel and access in the Win environment and Mac OS for email and safari for internet do I need anti virus software . Ie my connection to the world is mac only and I use office pro only to ruin the club, newsletters, membership database etc. and of course anything I do there can drag/drop to the mac environ to email. That's my understanding anyway. Next will my existing .pst file copy directly into mac mail or do I have to runs translator as I recall reading something about that ages ago when I started thinking Mac

Connection Timed Out error while saving messages in Solution Database
Dear Experts,
I have configured trex in solution manager..while saving service messages in 'Solution Database' i used to get "page cannot be displayed" now iam getting the fallowing error..please suggest any changes required..

Module: icxxthr.c

Detail: Connection to partner timed out after 60s
Regards,
BabuHi Babu,
you might try the following on the server where the problem occurred: call transaction SMICM -> Goto Services -> Select the service you are working with ->
Service Change -> increase value for "Max. Processing Time"
In case your application still times out you should see the changed value displayed.
Sometimes just executing the application again 2-4 times might help, because compiling might happen and is taking some time in the system.
With regards to parameters see also SAP Note [824554|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/824554].
Best regards,

Dump during save the solution in Solution Database (Service Desk)
Hello!
I use the functionality of Service Desk within SAP Solution Manager 4.0 (SP13).
Currentyl I am facing with the error during operation "Create of solution in Solution Database", when I try to save solution in SDB.
<i>The following error text was processed in the system SSM : The ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert results in duplicate database records. records in the data base.

Method: ONACTIONBTN_SAVE of program /1BCWDY/247RJ8VA8ISK2P37WABF==CP</i>
My questions are:
<b>- Should TREX also be installed with SAP Solution Manager or can one existing from other SAP system be used?
- Is there some SPRO steps to be executed in order to create and save solution in SDB?</b>
Thank you very much!
