Does my warranty cover for the power chord?

For some reason, the transformer that connects to the power chord does not work. I know it does not work becasue I tested the transformer with a friend's power and it did not work. My power chord still works. I was wondering if my warranty would cover the transformer. I have had my MacBook Pro for only two months.

  • My MacBook Pro, even when connected to the power chord, will turn on for a few seconds then shut back off. Any ideas on what is wrong?

I Am trying to turn on my MacBook Pro laptop, but when I do, it starts to turn on for a few seconds then shuts off again. It has around 80% charge and even if the power chord is connected it won't turn on. Need some help because I am out of the US right now and there are not a Mac store or anything that I could go to.

HAve you tried using a different power chord? If the power chord is not the issue, it could be the power supply inside your mac.

You can try your homeowner's insurance company; unfortunately, the hardware warranty was most likely voided. You can read it here:

If you are referring to the extended Applecare Protection Plan:

No. The warranty is only valid in the country where the phone was originally sold. You will have to take it back to the US or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service.

  • Does anyone know if they carry the speck see thru covers for the power book

I'm just curious if anyone knows of anywhere that they have the speck see thru covers for the power book G4. I recently purchased one for my daughters macbook and it really looks cool. I figure that the answer is no because of the age of the power book, but it ever hurts to ask! I have searched on EBAY and came up with nothing!

If Speck ever did make Powerbook shells, they don't any more.

  • Palm TX works only if power chord is plugged in, crashes if i take the power chord out

    Hi,
I brought a new Palm TX in 2008. I never used it because I was busy with work and it was never used. I recently found it when cleaning my storage. I tried to charge it for 2 days continious. As soon as I take the power chord out, Palm TX crashes. It comes back up again only if I connect it to power supply. Does not work all by itself.
    Sincerely
    Sudhi

The battery is dead.  There are many places online that sell batteries and do the repairs at nominal costs.

  • Battery-less MBP; cover for the opening?

I've been carting my work MBP home for various reasons, but leaving the battery at work (because I'm paranoid. If the thing's going to blow up, I don't want it taking out my stuff thanks. I'm like this about all lion/lipo batteries).
The thing is, the big gap it leaves in the bottom of the Mac makes me a bit nervous about dust, dirt, and fingers getting in there and mucking things up.
Does anyone make a door or dummy battery for these things?

I'm not really sure what Ned means by that.
    Ned meant what he wrote.
Simply, every power supply has capacitors that are used to put tension on your power delivery to cover minute and momentary power irregularities. The bigger the power draw of any system the larger the power supply and hence the capacitor capacity.
In a laptop system however the better the power switching between AC power and battery power the smaller the capacitors can be which saves on size, weight and obviously cost. If however the battery is not present the coverage for the power irregularities is hugely reduced.
Yes an MBP can maintain itself in sleep so that you can replace batteries on the fly without AC power although this is done via the PRAM battery which requires the system to be in sleep. While the system is running the PRAM battery does not factor into the power delivery system and hence is useless for a power irregularity.
Have you ever noticed that your computer doesn't flicker like your lights do during during large power events? This is because of the capacitors are large enough and are handling the events well enough whereas the lights have no capacitance at all. By removing your battery you open MBP up to being effected by much smaller events than it would otherwise. In actual fact of you don't have a depleted battery you aren't open to such events at all.
Please be aware that capacitors do not cover you for events like surges and over-current for which protection is highly suggested.

  • What's the best cover for the new iPad (3rd generation).  I've been told by a store employee (university bookstore) that there are problems with the magnetic covers on the newest iPad. Suggestions?

What's the best cover for the new iPad (3rd generation).  I've been told by a store employee (university bookstore) that there are problems with the magnetic covers on the newest iPad. Suggestions?

The best cover is the one that suites your needs. Try Google. There are dozens on the market.
As for the Apple Smart Cover, it does work with the new iPad. There are a few reported issues with it, but that doesn't come close to representing the totality of folks with it.

  • My MacBook Pro's battery is completely dead and even with the power chord attached it doesn't turn on. Any solution ?

I read somewhere that even with the drained out battery the mac should work with power chord attached. In my MacBook Pro 8.1 (late 2011) the green battery indicater on the side of the laptop just blinks depicting that the battery is dead. But the mac is not turning on even when the power chord is attached. I don't mind working with the power chord all the time but at least the MacBook should turn on. When I press the power button I hear nothing, I see nothing , there is no change. It's just a dead laptop. I am worried. Is there something else wrong with my MacBook Pro

Ok...I'd be tempted to try another charger if you have access to one. If not, I'd book a Genius appointment at your nearest Apple Store & get them to take a look for you.
    Good luck.

  • Keyboard Cover for the MBP

Does anybody have a Keyboard cover for the MBP?
i'm looking to invest in one, just need suggestion on which and where to get one!

    btw: its a 15" mbp

Whether you're talking about the old MacBook Pro (with "PowerBook" style keyboard) or the new unibody Late 2008 MacBook Pro (with chiclet, MacBook Air style keyboard), the BEST one I think, because I searched far and wide and tried them "all" out, is from iSkin.
It's not sticky (like ZCover's) and it's not el cheapo like some other ones I've seen that advertise as not being sticky (it literally, the silicone cover, sticks to your fingers while typing), but look like crud.
I am typing with one right now. It is fantastic. I bought the "painted on" ones. It was the Arctic Pro Touch FX model.
    Here it is:
(If you have the older MacBook Pro, just go to the right section on their website. You can also choose which ever color you like, of course. I just liked how the keyboard cover I got looks like there is NO keyboard cover at all!).
P.S. KBCovers also sells a similar cover and they are not sticky either. I just didn't find out about them until after I bought my iSkin one. (Was at Macworld last week, why I was able to "test drive" all the models before settling on one). Also, PowerSupport is coming out with one--according to the dealers there--but it's not out yet. Their demo is also not the sticky kind. (Too much info?).

  • How much for the power button replacement?

Power button for my iphone 5 can't work, can't power on/off or wake/sleep the device, have to plug in PC for power on, the apple warranty service for my iphone has expired,so, how much for the power button replacement?

Out of warranty replacement thru apple is $269.00 USD.  That includes a 90 day warranty on the replacement device.  You might want to check for repair shops that will just repair the power button, but since your warranty is expired, that might be a cheaper option for you.
