Does my Xperia Z2 have a battery issue?

Hi,
I am finding that the phone is losing battery faster than I would expect it to based on reviews that I read before purchasing.
Some examples:
- when browsing on wifi, it drops 1% in approx four minutes
- by 22:30 typically it is at ~50% with limited use (browsing on the tube for about an hour, sporadic texts through the day, Spotify during journeys) since I woke up and took it off charge at 8.30
- by midnight it tends to be down to about 30%
- this has been pretty consistent since getting the phone mid-May
- I've got Facebook and a few email accounts on push but apart from that I'm not gaming or using tons of apps / any lock screen widgets
- as of today my system update es are all up to date
How does this fit with what you guys are getting?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,
I get 4 days out of my Z2; here's my setup:
Stamina mode on, Low-battery mode off, location-based wifi on. I have 4 apps active in Stamina standby; Falcon Pro (Twitter app), Gmail, gReader Pro (RSS reader), SmartWatch 2 (!)
No widgets on my screens apart from a battery monitor, the BBC weather app & PowerAmp 4x2 (music player).
Now here's the one you're not going to like.  Disabled Apps - Facebook, Google+ and Walkman
Two of those apps I found to be the most data-instense; Facebook even sends & receieves data even if you're not signed in! (They assume that you're accepted the terms & conditions by installing it, and that allows them to tracks your phone via its IMEI number... Honest).  Google+ is just ... argh.  I couldn't believe how much that kept wanting data. And Walkman?  I wanted a gapless player so I use PowerAmp instead.
I am on Facebook, I just use a 3rd party client instead.

  • I have a battery issue that nobody experience yet.

I have a battery issue that nobody experience yet. I already know that people replace their battery when it can't hold its charge anymore. My point is when I charge my device it keeps on showing that fully charged battery icon at 53%. I thought Apple said it suppose to be at 80% when your device can't charge beyond 80%? After that it keeps on showing it at 43, 46, 50, and 63 percent. Everyday it keeps on multiplying. Is this the end for my iPod touch 4G? Do I have no other choice but to replace my battery? I don't want to mail it to Apple. They charge you more than $70+ for repairs. I could easily buy myself another iPod touch 4G with that money.
This is not the end to my question. Every time it shows that fully charge battery icon it quickly goes away after a minute or 2. My battery charges after that. If I keep on waiting for that fully charged icon to disappear ever single time and use that to charge my device constantly would my battery damage in anyway? Basically if I keep my charger plugged into my device until it reaches 100% ignoring the fully charged icon. Will my battery damage if I ignore that?
If I do replace my battery what temperature do I need to have the heat gun at anyways? I'm using an iPod touch 4G on 5.0.1. I tried to contact Apple for support, but I couldn't find their email address.

The iPod touch does not have battery percentage, so how are you gauging this? If the iPod is jailbroken that is more than likely the source of your problems, and either we nor Apple can offer any support or service for jailbroken devices.

  • Hard drive died, but do i have a battery issue also?

    Hello,
Well, my powerbook has been acting funny for the last few months and I think it finally died today. I've been doing weekly bootable backups on a smartdisk firelite 100GB external hard drive. Yesterday my computer was really slow, so today I updated the backup. Afterwards, I tried running disk repair in the disk utility on my internal hard drive, but it froze while doing that and I was forced to hit the kill switch. When I started it again I got the mini-folder with a blinking question mark. Luckily, I think the bootable backup works (although I've had issues with that drive mounting in the past) and for now it looks like I have all my files and applications. I tried running disk repair on the internal hard drive by got the error message: "invalid B-tree node size, volume check failed, underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)".
My question though is about how HOT my powerbook had been running lately. I've been using a notebook cooler with a fan, but it's still very hot to the touch after a while above the keyboard and sometimes I've noticed it's hot on the lower right side (under my left wrist). The adapter on the AC plug/cord setup gets hot also. I'm wondering if the heat was because the hard drive was dying, OR if the hard drive died because of the heat? (Note: I checked my battery serial number a long time ago and it wasn't part of the mac recall.)
I want to get a new hard drive to install (at BestBuy or some other place I guess). I'll look around on the list for recommendations, but I'm open to suggestions. I don't know if it's worth wiping the hard drive I have now and restoring it from the backup, or just assume it's dead. I don't want to get a new hard drive and find out I have a battery overheating issue instead.
    Thanks for your help!
    Lisa

    Lisa:
Before you purchase and install a new HDD, just hold a minute.
Great that you have a bootable backup of your HDD. Good thinking. Are you able to boot the computer from the external firewire HDD? (From a cold start, turn on external HDD, hit computer power button and immediately after chime hold down Option key. Select external HDD in screen and click right pointing arrow.)
When you ran Disk Utility, did you notice the S.M.A.R.T Status? If it says Verified, there is still hope. If it says failing, we'll need to find you a new HDD.
+"invalid B-tree node size, volume check failed, underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)".+
This indicates serious directory issues for which you will need a utility like Disk Warrior, Tech Tool Pro, or DriveGenius. Take a look at Disk Utility reports "Underlying task reported failure" when repairing a volume for details about the issue.
One of the above utilities has a good chance of repairing the directories. However, there is an even chance that the drive may be too damaged to be repaired. However, you won't know that until after you have run one of those utilities.
Your computer will support a 2.5" (P)ATA/IDE HDD up to 160 GB. Here are some HDDs that will work for you at OWC. If you are handy with a screw driver and have the time and patience you can probably install it yourself using these step by step directions from ifixit. If you need to install a new HDD, and think you would like to try it yourself, post back for additional tips.
    Cheers.

  • Does iPod (4th gen) have a battery life problem?

I have had my 4th gen iPod for less than 2 years (was a replacement after the screen was cracked. Was purchased at an actual Apple Retail store).  I am now finding that it won't hold a charge. I have tried 4 different cords (including the original cords from the original and the replacement iPod) plus 2 other iPod compatible cords and plug it in every night, only to find out that 6 out of 7 days it still reads as having a low battery (at 20% battery life). I am pretty sure it is not the cords. In addition, lately I have been getting messages about the temperature (being either too hot or too cold). I do not leave my iPod in the sun or in my car EVER, yet I've gotten messages about the battery being too hot (even when it was in an air conditioned house for several hours) and now I am getting messages about it being too cold (it is freezing outside, but the iPod has been inside and does not even feel cold to the touch).
I would update it to the new version, but it requires 50% power to do so, and I can't get enough power to it (even when it is plugged in for hours, it still doesn't show enough battery life).
I have an appointment at the genius bar next week, but thought I would ask if anyone else is having this/these problem(s) and what they did to resolve the issue  Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. I suspect a hardware problem because of the high temp warning.

  • Why does my iPod 5 have a battery percentage indicator?

I have an iPod touch 5th generation that I bought in December 2012, and as long as I can remember, it has always had the battery percentage next to the battery icon. I was recently looking for online for a way to turn off this percentage, and I came across a lot of people asking how they could turn on the battery percentage on the iPod 5g. This really confused me because I have always had the battery percentage, while many people with the same iPod 5th generation are saying that they can't turn it on. Also, I can;t find a way to turn off the battery percentage, it's not under usage like on the iPhones. Why can my iPod display battery percentage while others can't?

Your iPod has a battery percent indacator because simply in the encoding on the software (almost like binary on a computer) has a line in there that states "Battery Percent Indacator <true>" When normally it would say <false>. With the mass manufacturing of apple products they run off of the same software except for Macs. Since they run off of the same software all the coding is just changed around to display this and that so it makes an iPod or iPhone, an advantage to apple products having the same software is that you could change the binary on your iPod to make it like an iPhone because all it is, is switched around to make it "different." Pretty much since they are mass manufactured the system accidently applied <true> for under the binary statement "Battery Percent Indacator" instead of <false>. Small system mix up but thats all it is. Sorry for the techy terms I do some computer work here and there. Im dumb to IT's but Smart to people that don't know anything about software. Heres a simple way of saying WHY you have battery %. It was a manufactoror mixup and you accidently got battery percent. Thats all .

  • Do I have a battery issue?

    Hello.
I got my MacBook on Monday and I'm starting to notice something when I check-up on my battery.
    It came reading "Capacity: 5200."
    Today since 11 p.m. it was 5091.
Then from 2-3 p.m. it now reads 5001.
I dont know what the problem is. I charged it full without using it the first day and I let it stay without the plug for 2 hours after I charged it. Any ideas or thoughts? I did calibrate it as well. It's just too strange.

    Hi,
My battery was charging well for the first three weeks of use. i could get maybe 3 hours or more out of it. Then suddenly about 2 weeks ago, while working, it just shut off without warning at 15%. I charged it full then the same thing happened at 33%!!! Now my mAh reads 1090... Gosh this is annoying. Now when it is almost fully charged, the light shifts from green to red. I can now only get 1 hour from a fully charged battery. I did try PMU reset and calibrating the battery to no avail...
    depressed!

  • Does the cfp 2120 have a battery backed up clock

Hi im currently devloping the cfP 2120 with 2 relay cards a AIO card and a thermo couple card, and it will be running for long periods of time logging data and using th clock to time stamp the files, In  a standalone fasion
In the event of a power out will the cfp2120 keep the time?
IT will not always be conencted to a ethernet. so i wondered if there is a small litum battery backup for the RTC inside it
    many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
yes there's is a single 3V lithium battery inside the cFP 2120.
Usually you'd hook up to a time server to handle for any time slipages, or just to make sure that all the units on the network are working from the same timestamp, but if you don't want this, then set the time-server to 0.0.0.0. (You can use this to prove whether the battery is keeping the time by setting it to 0.0.0.0, then run some code to write a file (it will be timestamped, or but the current time into the text of the file) and then switch it off for a couple of minutes. On power up, check the time again.)

  • Does My iphone 4 have a screen issue?

When you look at the iphone 4 screen around the side of the screen itself you can see behind the actual screen, it looks like the blank glass that they use is very thin and see through??

Are you referring the approximate 1mm gap between the black masking on the underside of the glass andnthe viewable portion of the LED display? If so, thats totally normal... At least all of the iP4s I've seen have had it.

  • Raid Battery issues....

I keep getting a warning for my Raid battery...saying write cache temp. disabled due ti insufficient battery charge.....Restarting does nothinng...Leaving system on for 72hours does nothing......

Does this RAID enclosure have a Battery itself that needs replacing, or is it the Mac's Battery? Is there a UPS involved?
a hardware RAID controller may carry a dedicated battery-powered write-back cache of its own, thereby allowing for efficient operation that is also relatively safe. Fortunately, it is possible to avoid such problems with a software controller by constructing a RAID with safer components; for instance, each drive could have its own battery or capacitor on its own write-back cache, and the drive could implement atomicity in various ways, and the entire RAID or computing system could be powered by a UPS, etc.

Mac Pro Raid Card - Battery issues...
    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/other-hardware-peripherals/157895-mac-pro-raid- card-battery-issues.html
The RAID card reconditions its battery from time-to-time. During the interval when the battery is discharged, it may report that the RAID cache is disabled (and you are enduring longer writes because of that). It should charge up and start using the write cache again within a few hours.

  • Battery issue after bicycle accident

    Hey all,
A few weeks ago I fell with my bike and my z1 compact took the hit with all my body weight. The backside took the major hit and looks really bad, and from the side you can see the phone being bent. However, the phone has been working perfectly for over 1 month which is just incredible after that big hit. Sadly my phone has started showing signs of the hit lately, usually the phone just restart itselfs, or freeze so I need to press the red button or power/volume up. But during the last couple of days the phone is unresponsive. Its 100% dead, you cant charge it or anything. But suddenly you try to start it and it comes to life from nowhere, always with 1% battery left.
From my untechnical experience, it sounds like we have a battery issue here? Is there anything I can try or do myself before sending it away for a costly replair?
    Best regards

I would suspect not the battery itself (if Li-Ion would get punctured his phone would be already destroyed) but from broken paths on the motherboard. Anyway without inspection it is impossible to get any futher.

  • Battery issue LoadCycle count increases without charging , MacBook Pro Retina 2012?

    Hi
i have the feeling that i have a battery issue.
It looks like that  the battery cells are in one region defekt.
Once i cross about 30% last charge it starts draining very fast within 10-15 Minutes the MacBook switches off.
In order to proove this i have written a small script in order monitor the battery and some other counters.
And here is realized anothe interesting topic.
The Load Cycle Count can increase even if you dont charge !!
Below you see that the LoadCycle Count increased from 373 to 374 even if i didnt charge.
Any ideas on that. Or does anyone have the same issue ?

have you tried resetting your MacBook Pro’s System Management Controller, to see if that affects its energy consumption?
    When I run
    ioreg -n AppleSmartBattery -r | grep -i CycleCount
on my MacBook Pro, I get two different output lines. You might want to adjust that part of the CYCLECOUNT assignment to have
    ioreg -n AppleSmartBattery -r | grep '"CycleCount"'
instead, to ensure that that returns only the intended single line.

  • Possible cure for battery issues

    hi
first of all i dont own the device yet
    i am user of 5530,5800,n8,c7,701
i was looking farword to bring in my hands the first nokia wp7 but due to features missing and (in my opinion) little overpriced at the moment(as sim free) i will wait for the next nokia wp7
but being for a while in nokia forums i deside to write this atricle with my opinion about the battery issue (IF IT IS) with the 800
after reading many users facing problem with battery  in different revious and forums about my N9 last longer or my N8 etc i deside to do a test with my current in use 701(1300milliamber battery and the brightness screen that nokia offers right now)
i left all day the phone connected to 3g and gprs data with about 5 min calls couple of textsand little browsing fmobi, little use the default browser, little use apps which connects to internet ...all these  for about 1,5 - 2 hrs
it did last about 12 hrs same as some users with the lumia
Now if you dont belive me TRY THE SAME TEST BY YOUR SELFS
what i have understand (as i dont own the device) is that perhaps by default or out of the box (and especially the branded phones from the providers) is that featurs like wifi or data, nokia account, market place bing etc must be ON
if was the same issue with my 701 it will not go too far of course
what nokia possible can do is to do a frimware update which in start up or rebooting the phone....dark them, wifi, data, bluetooth, internet connection should be off by default like in symbian
i am sure the upcoming new customers will not have future complains
but i belive this is important as some poeple dont have the knowlege to do all these to turn off manual, especially in a new UI that they are using first time (wp7) and of course having a new phone most of them especially the non experts can think the battery drains so easy if all are ON
******* or at least nokia should make it like symbian to turn off automatic after closing apps, face, twitter, email etc
    thanks for your time reading
for me after my Xmas bonus(if any lol)  i will go for a windows phone(sim unlocked)either if nokia or other brand
of course i can wait for the next nokia model not because of the battery issue but i prefer in windows phone 7 bigger screen
    thanks again

I must agree with your thinking...
When I first got my C7, battery wasn't lasting a day...
And the reasons was the ones you said...
e-mail was keeping data on, WiFi was always looking for a connexion
I won't say that the Lumia 800 can't have any battery issues, but first of all, it's our use that kill off the bettery...
Setting e-mil to work only once per hour, setting WiFi off when not used...
Only those 2 option give a bette life to the battery...
