64GB Ram
Installed an EVGA GTX760 Graphics Card. Card works great in Windows.
But I can't interact with the Setup screens for the BIOS update.
And I have two bootable CD's that now also have initialization problems.
EVGA suggests that the BIOS needs to be configured to be in 'Legacy' mode.
Windows runs in Legacy mode, but the EVGA folks believe there is a switch that occurs after POST.
I'm sure it is the 760. I uninstalled it. And I can interact with the BIOS Setup just fine.

Usually yes although we have seen cases where both were legacy. None the less it is intended to have one GOP and one legacy vbios to choose between. In a case where both vbios are wrongly flashed legacy by fab a GOP vbios can usually be provided here after checking the S/N. If a GOP vbios is currently not available for a latest batch MSI can be directly contacted to supply one.

Yes, the new advanced TWIN FROZR IV which is used on all kinds of AMD and Nvidia cards from MSI is very well known for it's quite running. You will hardly find a more silent 280X. -
KT6V + sempron 2800 does not boot when BIOS saved
Hi,
I have just bought a new sempron 2800 to be use on a KT6V LSR. I plugget in my KT6V but was not recognised well (but all was working ok with windows). To be recognised, I have flashed with the last bios of MSI my motherboard... and now I have the following problem:
- I clear CMOS, then boot. It comes ok (processor detected and set a 1200Mhz)
- Then CMOS has a bad checksum: I enter setup, then load default, save.
- I reboot: the computer does not boot up.
If I re-clear CMOS I can re-enter setup and modify frequencies or other options. But when I save my modifications, then the computer does not reboot anymore (I have to re-clear cmos again)...

It says that SDRAM must be at 333, FSB at 166 and multiplicator at 12. When applying this settings, it does not boot (the leds indicate that the chipset initialisation (the first step) does not pass).
If I just load biios default, the leds indicates that it fails when checking the memory (second step of boot). I suspect that it's a problem of memory (but my memory was working well before !): it's 2x512 of DDR 400.
Any suggestion is appreciated :D . I spent several hours trying to configure the bios but it does not boot..
(I'll also try to find help on AMD forums...)
(Some extra info: my PSU is 26A for 12V, so it seems that it's not due to the PSU (as I read in the FAQ of this forum).

Does the S10 support BIOS tracking such as Computrace (lojack for laptops)
Computrace apparently has partners with many manufacturers, including Lenovo. Does the S10 support BIOS installation, or will I be limited to a software only install?
Ah yea, now I see where it could have been confusing. Computrace is also known as "lowjackforlaptops' and is the same company as the link you posted, absolute.com. Actually, I think computrace is its previous name. After some research, I think it may be one of the best solutions. Only issue is, I think that for the PC version, all it really does is log IP addresses, which can be accomplished with some free software, such as "Locate PC". I suppose 1 good advantage to computrade/absolute.com is that they handle all the investigation and warrant requests, which is a nice touch.
Back to "Locate PC". It's free, runs silently, and emails you (via smtp server) each time the IP changes on the computer that it is installed on. I installed it last night and it has successfully emailed me each of the 3 times I relocated to a new location (new IP address). I am not sure absolute.com does much more than this. -
HP dv6809wm BIOS flash property by steps and now computer does not boot to BIOS.
Hello everyone who might read this thread. I have a HP dv6809wm that was running the 2c BIOS so I decided to flash it like I do all my computers to the newest update of 32 version. Nothing happened to the computer while the BIOS was being flashed from with in windows 7 64 bit. Then it did it's auto shutdown in 10 second deal and shutdown property. Now when I went to start it up there is nothing but 5 seconds then it shuts off. I do not even get a BIOS screen or any screen. I tried the whole power off, remove batterys and cable, 15 second hold on power button, and all kinds of things to get BIOS back up. Nothing is working and its still doing the same thing. I need help and any advise is useful.
can you get into bios ?f1 f2 esc del key after power botton ?
your data and hard drive are ok its the bios/cmos that reads hard drive
if you can get into bios have it look for your drive or set to auto detect
if no bios access at all restart the flash program from cd or flash drive floppy whatever you have it on
also there is a jumper on the motherboard to clear bios/cmos you may have to open the cover and by jumper clear the bios
its near the battery tiny print may say cmos or jp20 or reset
jumper will be on 2 of 3 pins move jumper from pins 1 and 2 and put on pins 2 and 3 power up then down put back to pins 1 and 2

Award Bootblock BIOS v1.0 is a pain but tell you something changed big cause is old ram
any beeps at startup if so look up bios beep codes will tell you whats wrong
got your vista disk ? great you can use that to boot off of
if no disks you can find vista boot disks online use a google search to find one to make on another computer then use on yours

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. In your case you can only restore from a backup that has been created with the same iOS version. An iPhone 4 can only run 7.1.2, and, unless your iPhone 5 did not run the same version, you can't use a newer iOS backup of the 5 on the iPhone 4

Why does the iPad Mini not have music play count?
I bought an iPad Mini and also have a macbook. I had listened to various music on my iPad Mini the other day, however when I connected the iPad Mini to the Macbook and iTunes via the lightning connector to sync, it synced the ratings I gave the songs I listened to on the mini, but no play count, as if I had not listened to anything. I hope there is something I can do about this as I often look at my play count!!

It should work work but these kind of bugs pop up between updates, both hardware and software. Try closing all apps in the recently used list on the iPad. Double tap the Home button, tap and hold one of the icons at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the to close them. Tap the Home button to get back to the Home screen then hold the sleep button till you see the slide to power off message. Once it has powered down completely hold the Sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

Many people including myself rely on playcounts to control smart playlist to manage large libraries. Smart playlists can be created to show your most or least played tracks and used more or less as your favorites or other uses. Along with playcounts the date is transferred so to keep a fresh list of music on my smaller iPods a smart playlist set to songs not played in the last month keeps some fresh tunes on it.
Playcounts are also used to manage Podcasts in iTunes to delete older episode. Bookmarks, which can also be effected by this, can mess up audiobooks, movies and podcast playback between different devices. So yes, it does matter. -
my airport time capsule will no longer allow our iPhones or vizio smart tvs to connect to it, though my iPad air mac mini and mac air connect fine. Why is this? does a recent software update have anything to do with it?
What model is your TC? What is the firmware?
I recommend you do a factory reset and use short names.. not apple recommended names.
Short.. 2-20 characters .. less than 10 even better.
No spaces.
Pure alphanumeric.
Set fixed channels for 2.4ghz wireless.. test with 11, 6, 1 at least.
That often helps.. if not and is old, ie Gen1-4 go back to 7.6.1 firmware which is far more solid. -
My old 17" MBP (2005) often crashes, freezes or shows grey screen at start up. Also track pad often does not work. I have re fomatted the HD and reinstalled system but to no avail. Genius bar says possible faulty HD, but I suspect logic board. All checks out OK on the Apple Diagnostic bench. Can a Logic board go intermittant?? Any Ideas any body??
Ive repaired 1000s of laptops over the years (translate: diagnose and replace parts).
Its not that old, Ive owned 100s of laptops (most were free) ....some I still have are nearly 13 years old and still perfect, ....some extremely expensive ones died in under a year.
other than becoming obsolete at some point, there isnt really any "will spoil on" data like Milk for solid state computer parts, ....alas.
You can have a $5000 laptop die in 4 months, and a junker one keep kicking after 10 years.... Ive seen that firsthand countless times.
Common logic dictates that "very expensive = long life" in computers,..... but all the repair people will tell you just the opposite.
I know you have a gripe, I get that all too well honestly . -
why can't I connect to my WIFI at home, my laptop does. And yes I have a router and I know the password.

Also try this - Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
