Does Netweaver 7.0 support the AL32UTF8 character set?

We are running Netweaver 7.0 for a Vendavo solution running on Oracle 10.2.   We have created the Vendavo schema within the same database as Netweaver.  Vendavo documentation states the character set be AL32UTF8.  SAP sets the character set on Netweaver install to just UTF8.  Does anyone know if Netweaver 7.0 supports changing the DB character set to AL32UTF8?
Thanks.

Hi,
Yes you can as AL32UTF8 is a superset of UTF8 - this is supported. Please check the following note.
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/456968
The above note also discusses how to change database character sets.
Also check the following FAQ SAP Note on Oracle Character Sets.
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/606359
Moreover the SAP NW 7 installation sets the Oracle NLS to UTF8 which is find. Note NLS and Database character set is not the same, please check the following sap note for the same.
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/669902
Hope this helps.

What would you recommend as the NLS_LANG vaule for Oracle to support the Russian Character set. There are a few available like RU8BESTA. Which is recommended.

    Hi Ger,
I need a little more information to make any suggestion. Is Russian the only language you intend to support? What is the client(s) OS that will be connecting and inserting data in the database?

SAP provides support for SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET (NCO) version 1.x and 2.x, both running on Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. Both versions run in Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 as long as Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is backward compatible with Microsoft .NET version 1.1. SAP NCO version 1.x and 2.x will not install inside Visual Studio 2005. Instead customers are able to build components in Visual Studio 2003 and use these in Visual Studio 2005 projects.

  • Setting the Required Database AL32UTF8 Character Set

    Hi,
How can I set the existing database character set to AL32UTF8 in order to use the database with Oracle Content DB.
How can I use the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) to re-create the database with the correct AL32UTF8 character set.

Of course you can change the characterset value, but you need to follow some good explanation as the metalink notes below :

...a minimal schema to support PKIX in an LDAPv2 environment...
    2. if so, please can you explain how i go about configuring DS 5.2 for RFC

i think i have worked out what i need to do to make DS 5.2 rfc2587-compliant (i have also worked out - by rtfm - that it doesn't by default ;).

  • OATS CPU does not support the SSE2 instruction set required to run JRockit

    Hello,
I am trying to get the OATS agents to work on some injector machines, however, when I try to start them I get the following error:
"[ERROR] Your CPU does not support the SSE2 instruction set required to run JRockit.
Could not create the Java Virtual Machine."
Is there a way to configure OATs to use the Sun JDK instead? I have the Sun JDK in my path and JAVA_HOME set accordingly, however that doesn't seem to make a difference. Alternatively, is there a workaround to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

    Hi Tab,
In this case, SQL Server Analysis Services doesn’t support Distributed Transactions by design. Here is a similar thread about this issue for your reference, please see:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/8b07be45-01b6-49d4-b773-9f441c0e44c9/olaplinked-server-error-msolap-for-linked-server-olaplinked-server-does-not-support-the?forum=sqlanalysisservices
One workaround is that use SQLCMD to execute the EXEC AT command and saved the results to a file, then import using SSIS.

    No it doesn't.

Reduce the complexity of the SQL statement until you do not receive the

see what feature that the driver/database does not support.

    LEGOAustin

    Hi LEGOAUSTIN,
Check out the forum dedicated to Lego: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board?board.id=beta18. It is largely community driven but sometimes NI employees post.
I would also talk to Lego about NXT support. Check out his KB on the issue: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/59F9356834A0E85086257244007A3354?OpenDocument.
What I can give you in the meantime is to ensure you've done the right order:
Install the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Toolkit v1.0
    Restart the computer
    Install the LEGO patch 1.0.1
As for explicit support in LabVIEW 8.6, it doesn't appear to be any right now and I cannot comment on the future.
A quick Google Search came up with this as a possible work around: http://forums.nxtasy.org/index.php?showtopic=3277

  • What Determines the "File Character Set" on Export?

When we Export a Page, for example, from APEX, the File Character Set is defaulted to some value (and not editable). On some of our instances, this defaults to "Western European Windows 1252" while on others it is "Unicode UTF-8." Specifically, what setting is being used to make this determination? This is kind of a pain because we have some environments wherein we are promoting changes from environment to environment and these settings differ. If, during import, the user neglects to set this to the same File Character Set in which the file was originally exported, we get issues (non-printable control characters and the like). Therefore, we'd love to make all of the environments match but, aren't sure how to do this.
    Thanks,
    -Joe
Edited by: Joe Upshaw on Apr 10, 2013 3:25 PM

    Hello Joe,
In your environment, the character set of the APEX exported files is set according to the DAD character set, and with your APEX version, it must be set to AL32UTF8 (regardless of the database character set).
Re: Export - File Character Set list is read only (fixe UTF-8 value)
You should check the DAD character set setting in the environments in which APEX is not exporting the files using UTF8.
    Regards,
    Arie.

  • Setting the database character set problem!

I'm sorry if this is beaten to death, I've read the FAQ and many questions in this forum and I didn't find it.
I want to change the database character set from the beginning. Where do I place the NLS_CHARACTERSET=EL8ISO8859P7 ?
I know I can alter the existing database character but EL8ISO8859P7 is not a superset of WE8ISO8859P1 and I don't want to go to Unicode yet...
Do I have to create a brand new database or can I just alter a script and restart it ?
I didn't find any nls_setting in the database creations, uh, wizard.
Please be as specific as possible because as you can understand I'm not what you can call a db expert...
    Thank you.

which version of Oracle? these things change between versions.
    v7 - update sys.props$ (unsupported!)
    v8.0 - rebuild database
v8.1 - alter database change characterset
remember, backup and test before you do this on a used/production database!
    good luck, Nogah.
