Does newest N80 firmware fix T9 dictionary bug?
My N80 firmware has been updated already twice in my local service point (Finland) for the same reason: in some phase of usage it stops saving new words to dictionary.
When writing SMS and entering a new word, it remembers that new word during the same message writing. When opening a new message to write, the word is no longer in use (not included in dictionary's suggestions).
First firmware update didn't fix the problem - I keep thinking because I restored a full backup from memory card - maybe restored also faulty dictionary file?? Don't know is that a file that is includes in full backup.
Second update: I didn't restore anything and "teached" the new words all over again. Now the dictionary has stopped working again!
I checked my current firmware: 4.0623.0.41 (build 26-07-2006)
Ran software update availability check: available version 4.0623.0.42 (build 20-09-2006).
I really wonder why my local service point hasn't put the newest firmware for me, think this new version has been out ages ago (yes, I do realise that build date is different that release date). These firmware re-installations (because the version hasn't changed from the version which was on the phone when I bought it on April 07) have both been done after May 2007.
Now, the question is, if I go to the service point, should they have this version 4.0623.0.42 available to my phone? The second time (in June) when I asked the newest possible version, this .41 was installed again - so can someone from Finland confirm if this new .42 has delivered to service points? Hate to go nagging there if they really don't have it
And more importantly, (and to this I like to hear the answer from Nokia personnel or from users who have been experiencing same problem) will this firmware version fix this problem? Either
a) keeps saving words
or
b) gives a proper error if saving is not possible for reason X
In my case it could not have been "not enough memory/free space"-error, because I have plenty of free space in both, phone and memory card. So if the error comes for some other reason, like to know why.
And no, I won't try to update firmware by my self. I tried it once and my phone died So no trust from me to that service.
I don't believe her claim unless it was true and valid up until the N95. I pass through Wales an awful lot during my work day and therefore I have many many Welsh town and place names entered into my T9 dictionary, along with other words I have added and the few custom smilies I added to it, it has to have way more than 30 words in it.
I'm aware of a bug that resets the T9 dictionary every now and then. The word file gets overwritten every so often and your words disappear. Never did find out what caused it but it affected the 6680. Perhaps this could be the problem.

Does the new firmware fix this as we
The sound on any unencoded WMV has been staticky was well. Don't WMVs use WMA for their audio track? Does the firmware fix this?
All I heard was it fixed WMA files, not necessarily the audio on WMV.

Hi,
Does anybody know when a bugfixed firmware for N80 is available ?
For bugfixed I mean so that WiFi EAP-LEAP and PEAP works with hidden SSIDs.
I still lack any info about users who succesfully runs a N80 with EAP-PEAP MSCHAPv2 or EAP-LEAP.I posted several posts previously on the subject:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=5731#M5731
In short terms: WiFi client on the N80 doesnt work at all with EAP as the DHCP part that supposes to start after a succesfully user authentication does not start !
I have only seen this on N80, as other phones works in the same Wifi environment. Fx. the N91 works. -
Under tools options for the 3.6.14 there is no tab to enable java, only java scripts. There was an add- on for Java that automatically downloaded that may be part of the problem. I' also updated to Java 1.6.0.24,- is that may be part of problem. The Pogo.com website will not load certain games.
My biggest question is whether the Firefox beta 4 is safe(er) to use, and/or does it have other and perhaps worse bugs that have not been worked out.Firefox 3.6.15 fixes that problem with Java.
Use Help > '''Check for Updates''' to get 3.6.15. -
New Firmware Fix Cisco bug ID CSCtn23871?
In the Cisco Security Advisory released on May 25th, it said the firmware to fix CSCtn23871 would be released June 10th. That never happened. But now a firmware version has been released with the 2.0.2.1 version number that was supposed to fix the vulnerabilities from this Security Advisory. Does this new firmware update fix CSCtn23871? There are no release notes for this firmware, which was released 5 days ago.
JeffDo you know when the release notes will become available for this firmware version? The release notes were updated for the RVS4000.

We bought a time capsule, 1TB, then the wifi has a problem since it does not identify the existing wireless network and it says that its need to have an update firmware. The existing firmware is 7.3.1, does it have an newest update firmware existing now? Does APPLE do not provide latest firmware for this item?
How old is that Time Capsule? The fact that it still have firmware 7.3.1 suggests that it's not the latest model. The latest firmware available for my two-year-old model is version 7.5.2. Apple does provide firmware updates. You just have to let the Time Capsule download and install them. Use AirPort Utility to do that.
Regarding your Wi-Fi problem, please explain what you mean by "it does not identify the existing wireless network".
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject. In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that. -
Lastest firmware has an annoying bug now 2710c
Hi, I have the Nokia 2710c and have updated the firmware to 9.67
I have noticed now when the keys are locked; when I press the menu key (and it says Now press *) that screen stays on for too long and I can't see if I have received a sms/or a missed phone call.
Then the screen goes dark (back to standby mode).
The previous firmware (3.xx) had no issues like this.
it is very annoying now
Please fix this minor bug soon,
Thank youanother issue I've noticed now, I can't see how the progress is while charging - because the message does not stay on for long, I can't see the message saying "battery full etc" no more
I have to unlock then I'll see the message... what happens if I'm in a hurry... I just want to quickly check the status... not unlocking etc....
Previous fw was perfect..... this fw is..... no comment -
iTunes 8 now requires Quicktime 7.5+... What is that? Even without fixing all its bugs working with OS 10.4.11 and lower. Choppy video is still a problem on G5 machines, I have had to reinstall QT 7.4.5 to fix the problem twice now. (Thanks Pacifist) I wont try to install QT 7.5 again until Apple confirms that they have a problem and that it is assured us having a fixed solution, not just it being a little bit better. I know that the answer is get OS 10.5+ installed, but there are still programs and issues that don't work well within that system. If I had an Intel machine I would not worry as much. But why do these bold requirement statements like to rub in that my computer needs more money inserted after the upgrade instead a warning before hand? ,e
I am just talking about videos that I have shot with correct transfer codecs and imported into Apples' very own Final Cut Pro and just want to see correctly what I could see before smoothly in QT 7.4.5 and earlier. I have long given up QT for viewing anything .avi or .mp4 and use the preferred VLC software. However, QT and FCP are in bed together for obvious reasons. Let's face it... QT does not play everything, nor do I think they try to. No on can survive viewing with QT alone.

DDNTF_CONV_UC~" does not exist in the ABAP Dictionary
Hello Experts ,
We are migrating our ECC system from Oracle to HANA DB using DMO - during Post Processing phase we are getting the following error :
(screenshot attached)
4 ETG003 Table "DDNTF_CONV_UC~" does not exist in the ABAP Dictionary
4 ETG003 Table "DDNTF~" does not exist in the ABAP Dictionary
4 ETG003 Table "DDNTT_CONV_UC~" does not exist in the ABAP Dictionary
4 ETG003 Table "DDNTT~" does not exist in the ABAP Dictionary\
1. Am not sure why Shadow tables are considered in this phase ?
2. What steps i can follow to fix this error ?[I tried activating those using se14 but activation button is disabled].
3. I have a option to ignore and move forward but am not sure about the side affects ?

Thanks
DevHi Avinash,
two comments on this:
This is not an issue, as this text is NOT an error message.
(An error message lists the "E" as second character,
but the screenshot above shows a space as second character.)
The log handling for this phase will be adapted in SUM SP13, so that non-errors are not listed at this point, to avoid this confusion.
SUM 1.0 SP12 PL 1 to PL 3 must not be used any longer, see SAP Note 2122247.

Any news in N80 firmware updates?
It seems very quiet lately
Any news on N80 firmware updates?
A version better than v4.0707.0.7
Im getting sick in waiting
The service command bug is really irritatinghi guys , am disappointed too ! lets kill some time imagining what will the new firmware contain lol
i have many suggestions many of it is stuped
1. i wish i can remove the 2 shortcuts (horisantal ) wich is : 1.wireless scanning + 2. calender , if there exisit some option to display/remove display of them
2. if there is a way to remove the themes painlessly
3. i want my special files pics/videos etc not to be displayed in the gallary that contain all multimedia files ( even though what i put in a seperate folder ) if i can check what folders only to be displayed in galary
4. optional autolock with each slide closing
5.simple way to connect the internet using wifi because sometimes am already connected using some wifi connection and when browsing it says ( connection needed ) but am already connected , make it unified
6.when i close some page in the net browsing it close the connection automatically , make this optional not mandatory
i got much much more lol i know it sounds silly , but these aint hard things and dont affect other customer because its all optional lol , and ah !
7. i have 2 GB miniSD so make the sound recorder record more than one minute depending on the memory size
8. optional call ending each slide closing
9. if installed themes/application can be copied/sent via bluetooth or sth ..
thanx lol common guys kill some time with expressin your needs in the new firmware PPPPPMessage Edited by mohsh86 on 13-Jun-200702:40 AM

Fix for a bug: After playing a hide effect, a window wouldn't be visible again.
The issue here is that all effects that occur because of HIDE end up calling setVisible() (see EffectManager.effectEndHandler). Window/WindowedApplication was basically left with two concepts of setVisible...the displayObject one and the native application one, and they were out of synch. So setting visible=true on the window wasn?\226?\128?\153t calling setVisible(true) which controls the display object visibility. Now instead of doing our work in the visible setter, we override setVisible() and do it in there.

flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/airframework/src/spark/components/WindowedApplication. asI run Suse 9.1 Linux, and Suse has a package called lmsensors which by default on my machine gives readings like this:
Code: [Select]
temp1: +27°C (high = +0°C, hyst = +22°C) sensor = thermistor
temp2: +41.0°C (high = +80°C, hyst = +75°C) sensor = PII/Celeron diode
Now that 41C is pretty high for an idle AMD643000+ running at 1000Mhz, 1.08V. Too high, I would say. temp 1 in this case is the SYS temp, temp2 is the CPU temp.
Now, using lmsensors I can duplicate your little trick and tell it that temp 2 is in fact a 3904 transistor. Having done this can I get readings like this:
Code: [Select]
temp1: +27°C (high = +0°C, hyst = +22°C) sensor = thermistor
temp2: +16.0°C (high = +80°C, hyst = +75°C) sensor = 3904 transistor
Problem is, I'm not sure that the sensor is actually a 3904 transistor! The number's lower, but I was pretty sure that the sensor in the AMD64 is in fact a diode. Also, surely the CPU temp can't actually be that much lower than the SYS temp.
So, I think your fix succeeds in giving lower temps and that's great in that it will tell your system software that the CPU is not overheating, but I don't think it's the solution to high temp reporting. Anyway, as you say, its a solution for people who can't run with system shutdowns due to bogus high temps.
I've been looking at these temp issues with the MSI K8T, and I was thinking the problem was simply a miscalibration. The Winbond sensor chip on my board (maybe the K8N is the same, maybe not) has a sensor temp offset that gets added to the temp coming from the sensor. On the K8T this number is +54C. Funny number I know, but I've "fixed" the problem while I wait for a real bios fix on the K8T by simply reducing this offset to give me a CPU temp that matches SYS temp when idle. This enables cool'n'quiet fan control to work properly on my system, which is my main practical concern. -

Is there a Nokia certified website or source where I can find a history of N80 firmwares and what changes took place in each one?
A changelog would be absolutely fantastic to help verify that new firmewares really fix observed problems.
Also, it could be used to check if I have the latest firmware (I know I could just hook my phone up and sync it, but I'd rather have a simpler method since I've seen the Nokia Software Updater program fail on me a lot hence I don't trust it).
Currently I have an N80 running 4.0707.0.7, updated just yesterday from the previous version.Being a computer program and well familiar with embedded systems myself I was afraid the case would be that Nokia doesn't release the details of each firmware update. Honestly, I think that is a form of sort of "corporate programmer cowardice."
Regardless, you bring up another good point: N80 users certainly should NOT load the new 4.0707.0.7 firmware as it has some severe problems.
Just to help future searchers get this:
Nokia N80 4.0707.0.7 firmware is broken and bad, do not upgrade or load this firmware. -
[svn:fx-gumbo_beta2] 10472: Fix for Fade bug.
Revision: 10472
Author: [email protected]
Date: 2009-09-21 15:11:11 -0700 (Mon, 21 Sep 2009)
Log Message:
Fix for Fade bug. Previously, Fade assumed that any target object with a 'parent' must be a child of that container. However, a target object can also be the 'mask' property of that parent. When Fade went to query which element the mask was on the parent, the parent threw an RTE because its element list did not contain that target object. The fix was to special-case the mask situation and return 'undefined' for the index value, meaning that the object does not have a parent and will not be tracked as an element that can be removed/added.

VideoPlayer changes: mostly PARB but fixing a few bugs as well.
Bugs:
Fix VideoPlayer bug with live streaming so the pause button comes up when we first start playing (rather than a play button). This was caused by an underlying FLVPlayback VideoPlayer bug, and I modified the underlying VideoPlayer code to fix it.
MuteButton wasn't showing the correct volume when it first pops up in fullScreen mode. This is because the MuteButtonSkin needed to grab the volume property when it loaded up initially. It was doing this in the normal case, but not the fullScreen and wireframe case.
FullScreen DropShadow: Change volume bar dropshadow to be a real dropshadow instead of using RectangularDropShadow. This is the same change as yesterday...just in the fullScreen case.
API Changes:
ScrubBar.bufferedRange:Array -> bufferedStart, bufferedEnd
VolumeBar: Add isDropDownOpen() which facades to isOpen on the DropDownController.
MuteButton: Change ?\226?\128?\156value?\226?\128?\157 property to ?\226?\128?\156volume?\226?\128?\157. Add ?\226?\128?\156muted?\226?\128?\157 property and a mutedChange event.
Get rid of VideoPlayerVolumeBarEvent: put the constant on FlexEvent instead: FlexEvent.MUTED_CHANGE
VideoPlayer.muteButton: Changed type from ToggleButton to MuteButton.
Make DropDownList/VolumeBar.dropDownController_openHandler() and closeHandler() mx_internal instead of protected.

Log Message:
ScrubBar.bufferedRange:Array -> bufferedStart, bufferedEnd
