Does NI GPIB usb controller have functionality of controlling all common lab devices,

which NI hardware is better , and does GPIB support real time programming, plase could you help me i am totally new to LABVIEW.
And cant we use GPIB for parallel controlling at he same time, because it states in the users manuel about Controller in Charge (CIC).
Please if you can show me a way i go ahead and understand i will be so pleased with best regards !..

The controller in charge only refers to the control source -- usually, a PC.  So you have one PC controlling a bunch of instruments.
Some instruments can act as controllers (and some have to, but those are usually older or special purpose instruments).  So you can give up and take control -- but that's a more advanced topic than most people ever need.

  • What kind of changes I have to do when I move from GPIB Controller to GPIB-USB Controller.

I want to know some information about GPIB-USB Controller. We are using National Instruments GPIB Controller to read and write data in a Instrument called Diagnostic Readout Box(DRB III) which will hook up with the Engine controller of the car. Now we plug-in the GPIB card in to the I/O slots of the Computer. Now, we want to use GPIB-USB Controller instead of GPIB Controller because of its portability and other features. However, we have developed some C++ applications which are available in the form of DLLs that will interact with the DRB III. Do we have to do any modifications in the coding of these applications when we move into the GPIB-USB controller?.

Once the GPIB-USB is configured, it behaves exactly like a PCI-GPIB board so you should not have to change your program. The GPIB-USB is only supported on Windows 95 and 98. If you are planning on using the GPIB-USB on 95\98 you would still use driver version 1.6 or 1.7. If you need to work on Windows Me or 2000, then you will need the GPIB-USB-A and driver version 1.0. The GPIB-USB is not supported on NT.
The USB-A driver does not allow you to use GPIB device templates. This issue is covered in Knowledge Base 266CNP00 (see link below).

  • Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi.  They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine.  They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete.  Ideas?

Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi.  They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine.  They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete.  Ideas please?

I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.

  • Does a USB Connection have any merit at all?

I have two large external hard drives, but they came with USB 2.0 cables.  Would USB 3.0 cables that could fit into the external hard drives transfer data at a decent rate, OR does the external hard drive have to be originally configured for USB 3.0?  Basically, is it just the cable that'll make the difference between the transfer of the external hard drive, or does both the external hard drive AND computer have to be configured to use USB 3.0?

External USB hard drives are not all manufactured the same way, however since you state yours are "large", there is a very good chance that if you were to take your enclosures apart (normally destroying the enclosure, but not destroying the drives inside) you would find a normal 3.5" hard drive bundled with a SATA to USB 2.0 adapter. And, if that is how your enclosure(s) were constructed, you could remove the drives from your existing enclosures and purchase new external drive enclosures that support USB 3.0 that would give these drives a new high-speed lease on life! The enclosures made for 3.5" drives that support USB 3.0 run from about $25 to $45, so this could be a very attractive option for you. Too, your data should still be on the drives themselves and should not need reformatting.
Finally, if anyone is reading this that has an external hard drive that is smaller (not capacity, I mean physically built using a 2.5" drive as opposed to a 3.5" drive), then most of these devices now are specially built and do not have drives with SATA connections on them. So, make sure your model has a "normal" drive in it (Google how to open your model of enclosure to learn more), before you start any surgical procedures .

  • External GPIB-USB Controller with Windows2000

Is there a Chance to use the external GPIB controller GPIB-USB (NOT the
newer USB-A version) with Windows 2000 ?? The special GPIB driver for the
    "A" revision is not working.
    Ciao

I am not sure if this will fix your problem, but I was able to get a USB GPIB controller to work in Win2K by replacing the file "NiVi488.dll" as described in the following NI support page:

  • NF750-G55 - Does not detect usb mouse (have to plugin after boot into Windows)

    Topic says it all...
Mouse is Microsoft Habu, has been working in my old system just fine (ASUS M2N32-SLI DELUXE). The only usb items plugged in are the mouse and my Logitech G11 Keyboard.
I just upgraded my old rig to what you see in my signature, my mouse will not get detected unless I replug it in after windows has started.
During boot after initializing usb controller it says Found: 1 Keyboard and 1 Hub
I have tried the following but with no successful results:
PS2 Keyboard with mouse (mouse behaves the save)
Mouse w/usb->ps2 adapter (mouse lights up but doesn't do anything in windows)
Mouse plugged into every different port on the MOBO, D-Bracket, front panel usb or even into keyboard
Different mouse (boot says Found: 1 Keyboard, 1 Mouse, 1 Hub) and this mouse works all the time
    USB Legacy On/Off inside bios
I also have a USB powered hard drive (http://www.simpletech.com/products/storage/simpledrive-mini/red-wine-250gb.php) that when plugged into the motherboard was making a beeping sound but I can't find any information on what that means (if anything)
    Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with a couple of different boards, but with a Razer Copperhead mouse. I ended up just buying a new mouse (PS/2 type).

The volume On/Off switch does not work.  It does not mute sound. I have to turn volume all the way down to silence the sound.
Is the switch faulty or am I missing something here?

well first remove the case.  check the headphone jack for debris.  do a hard reset by holding sleep/wake and home button down together for 10 seconds untill apple appears.  backup and restore via itunes.  if issue persists the device needs repair

  • Does the MacBook and iPad have the same type of common applications?

I am new to the Apple environment but an advanced user of Windows.  I currently teach Senior Citizens how to use a computer with windows.  However, there are some seniors that have either a MacBook or iPad and would like to learn how to use them as well.  Therefore, I'd like to offer to have a training class that includes both of these products together.  Do both products contain the same basic type of applications such as; Mail, Address, Calendar, Photo Booth, iChat, etc...?  I know that Safari is the same.
I want to be able to give both types of users a good understanding on how to do things such as; using Mail, surfing the web, etc...  I noticed though that sometimes the steps taken to do something on a MacBook is different on an iPad.  I would appreciate it if anyone can give me advise on how to approach this type of class.
    Thanks,
    Marie

Maybe after you have spent time with MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad yourself and used iOS 5.1 and soon to be iOS 6. Send the students to an Apple Store training seminars. Knowing Windows, maybe prepare students for Windows Metro and Windows tablet or something more familiar.
Even though iOS look and feel has invaded Mountain Lion, they are not the same in any way. In name and looks only is Safari really the same.

  • Can I erase photos from my iPhone via iCloud and have them erased on all my connected devices?

I took photos at work, completely forgetting about my iCloud setting, I erased them off of my phone/iCloud  this morning. But they may have uploaded to iCloud last night. These are not photos my children need to see

Once they are deleted from iCloud they will be deleted from all devices accessing the photos from iCloud. The exceptions here are a computer (you will need to delete it manually) and the device that took the photo, I am assuming your iPhone 5. There you will need to delete it from your camera roll too.

  • ICal does not update when calendar changes are made on all my other devices. Prompt that the server does not recognize the password, but the password is correct.

I have an iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, MacBook Air and recently bought an iPad Air. Since I synced my iPad, my iCal on my Macbook no longer updates and every time I open it, this window appears even if I didn't change or forget my password. So I tried changing my password and still this window appears. I hope someone can help me. Thanks!

As if by magic it is now working. I went away from the mac for a couple of hours, came back and it started to work. This is scary as I would expect this kind of action on a Mickysoft machine but not a Mac. Ho Hum - at least the problem has been sorted even if I don't know how.

  • Does GPIB-USB-B controller not recognize device Aliases in Instrument I/O Asst express VI ?

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently having problems with my device. I'm trying to communicate with the instrument simulator through the Instrument I/O express VI but the device alias I designated wasn't being recognized. After selecting the Alias from the pulldown menu and tried the "query and parse" command, there was no response. The "write" and the "read" commands also did not work. I'm suspecting that the problem is from my GPIB-USB controller card. I have the GPIB-USB-B controller. It recognizes only the instrument descriptor but not the alias. My NI 488.2 is of the 2.46 version and NI VISA is v4.2. I think everthing was configured correctly but the card might be the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?. Is there some kind of driver upgrade that could help rectify it.
    Thanks

Aliases have nothing to do with GPIB controllers and their software though if you cannot communicate to the instrument in MAX, then there might be problem with either one. Aliases are part of VISA. You can try upgrading to 4.5. Also search your entire pc for a file called visaconf.ini. Post back with the location and whether you found more than one instance. You can also try deleting the file and then go into MAX and do a refresh. You will have to recreate all aliases.
I am confused about something. Are you saying that if you use something like GPIB0::address::INSTR, communication works just fine but the exact same command with an alias does not work? If that's the case, there is nothing wrong with the GPIB controller. If that is not what you mean, then what does it mean when you say 'it only the instrument descriptor'? Another test of the gPIB controller is to use MAX to communicate with the instrument. Do not select VISA for communication. Just right click on it in MAX. This does not use VISA at all and if it works, then the controller and software are just fine.

  • What is the recommended length of the cable in between the GPIB instrument and GPIB-USB card.

    hi,
we are planning to use GPIB-USB Controller in our application by replacing the existing GPIB-PCI controller. Our GPIB instrument doesn't have the standard IEEE GPIB Connector. So, we will have to connect one more cable in between GPIB-USB controller and the GPIB Instrument. I just want to know what is the recommended lenth of the cable that can be connected in between the GPIB instrument and the GPIB-USB card. Could anybody please help me?
    Thanks,
    Rajaram

Page 730 in the 2001 catalog gives detailed cabling requirements for the GPIB bus. It's usually best to keep the length 2meters or less.
