Hi,
As Milos said, first thing we would do is see if all my hardware drivers are up to date. The Windows drivers are the best match for most hardware but you may have better results with drivers obtained directly from manufacturers.
Meanwhile, please try installing the latest version driver for Realtek High Definition Audio to test it.

I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?

Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
    Good luck!

  • IMac does not starts once on sleep mode after last Mavericks update... Anyone with the same problem?

Since the last update, when my iMac goes to sleep mode it seems that the mouse or the keyboard can wake it up.  I have to do a "hard reset" everytime.  Anyone has this type a problem?

    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
    Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
    Step 3
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, if any. Be sure to disconnect all USB hubs. If you use a keyboard or mouse plugged into a hub, plug the devices directly into a built-in USB port and remove the hub. Test.
    Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator for this step.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, look under the heading DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION on the left for Diagnostic and Usage Messages. If you don't see that heading, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. In the search box in the window's toolbar, enter "powerd" (without the quotes.) Select the last few messages that appear, if any, and copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Phone does not ring when in sleep mode

I have noticed that if I attempt to make a call to my phone when it is 'asleep', i.e. a few minutes after it auto locks, then it does not ring. When I 'activate' it by pressing the home button I see those calls appearing as missed calls. Any idea why this happens?

This is the exact problem i'm having right now, I don't know why it's happening, but when i have it on the desk and when it's in sleep mode, I can get phonecalls and it won't ring but it won't show up as missed calls either, if i get a voice message i'll get it if i take it out of sleep mode and let it sit with full reception for a minute.
I also lose all reception while in sleep mode.

  • Screensaver does not clear properly after sleep mode

henever I start my iMac up from sleep mode the screensaver doesn't clear so that I can enter my password. Instead, wherever my mouse is hovering the screensaver is erased in a sort of block by block mode? Then when I hit enter after typing in my password it goes onto the desktop and everything is fine. Anyone know why??

Where is the screen saver picture saved? If it's on an external HD that could be the  problem, move it to the internal drive in that case. This is explained in http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57354082-263/q-a-macfixit-answers/?tag=mnco l;txt

    Hi
Tempro will notify you if new BIOS has been uploaded.
But I recommend you downloading such BIOS manually from the Toshiba European driver page and then to run a update
Read the also FAQ: [how to update the BIOS |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60] before starting such procedure.

  • T60 does not boot up from sleep mode

    Hi,
My client has a T60 with an advanced docking station. When he leaves the office he undocks and puts it into his bag and goes home. The laptop is set to sleep when the lid is closed. When he returns the following day, it has switched off and when he redocks and switches it on, it says it is resuming then goes blank. It is on, hard drive light flickering etc but he cannot work on it. We have to hard reset and then halts at the safe mode options, I choose "start Windows normally" and it boots up fine. It's running Win7 Professional. Please advise if there is any software that can undock gracefully or any other suggestions would be appreciated...thanks,

he needs to switch off the laptop and then undock, otherwise the machine would think he is still in docked mode.
Or he needs to eject the machine out of the docking station (by pressing the no. 1 eject button on the dock), put to sleep and then undock.

  • New 2nd Gen Macbook Pro does not come out of sleep mode overnight

I bought the new generation macbook pro last week and every night when I closed the lid of the computer, it would not wake up in the morning. I had to press the on button several times before it restarted. I then get a message that my computer was shut down improperly. It also had some serious trackpad issues.
I brought it in and they gave me a new one. At first they thought I was given the older machine by accident...but I was not.
Anyway, I took it home and the first night it was okay but the 2nd night it had the same problem. fyi..I migrated all my files from the old computer to this one and don't know if that could cause the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • All-in-one 6830 printer Does not enter sleep mode when connected to a phone line

HP staff  help. HP all-in-one printer 6830 does not enter sleep mode when conntected to a phone line via 1-Line jack.  The Firmware is PNP1CN1521AR. On August 1, 2015,  I purchased an HP all-in-one 6830  printer and upgraded to firmware PNP1CN1521AR.When a phone line is connected to 1-Line jack of 6830, the printer will no longer enter  sleep mode and the display remains on indefinitly.Removing the phone connection either from the wall outlet or from the printer causes the sleep mode to work correctly again where the control panel display turns off after 5 minutes (or optionally  after 10 or 15 minutes). This problem was previously reported by a user and has not been resolved, see:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Printing-Questions/Sleep-mode-of-Officejet-Pro-6830/td-p/4772182 The user did not receive a resolution to this problem according to the thread.
There seems to be a  6830 printer firmware or hardware problem causing this. HP  should be able to confirm this problem on 6830 easily.
    Please advise ASAP.
    Thanks

It's a regular analog phone line. I've tested it with other phone lines. No difference. I have another all-in-one printer which works fine (goes to sleep mode) when plugged into the same phone line.
The 6830 works ok in other aspects. The only problem is the sleep mode. Any 6830 with the firmware I mentioned should replicate the same result, regardless of anything else. The previous firmware to PNP1CN1521AR also created this problem according to the original report of this problem by another user.
I'm sure there's a bug in the firmware. A subroutine in the firmware monitoring the incoming fax ringing, mistakenly, sees the voltage across the phone jack pins as an event and wakes up the printer instantly even though there's no ringing. As the previous user also suspected, there seems to be an error in the phone line voltage threshold used by the firmware. The present firmware always sees a ringing at the phone line which causes it to never stay in sleep mode.

Doesn't really sound like a virus.

  • MBP 2011 Does Not Enter Display Sleep Over DVI with Dell U2410

    Hi, 15" 2011 MacbookPro (8,2) running 10.7.2 Lion
Using the Apple Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter, the Dell U2410 does not enter Display sleep in Energy Saver mode. Instead, the backlight remains on.
If I manually put the MBP to Sleep, the U2410 successfully enters Display sleep.
When using a MonoPrice Mini DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable, the monitor successfully enters Display Sleep. However, the picture signal (no matter what) is dispalyed in YPbPr rather than RGB for some reason. So this thread is in fact 2 problems.
    Any ideas / help?

My late 2007 white MacBook (3,1) running 10.6.8 connected via MiniDVI-to-DVI successfully puts the U2410 to sleep.
So I'm thinking this may be an issue with the MDP/Thunderbolt port on the new 2011 MBP's?

  • My new mac mini with Maverick does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or Apple-Sleep mode.

    Hi.
I have my new mac mini with Maverick that does not go to deep sleep even if i press power button or menu Apple-Sleep mode. He goes only to something like stand-by  (power lid is on; after i turn off and then turn on the power he does not wake up just starting). I tried "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode X", tried mode 0,1,3, and even 25. nothing helps. he goes to deep sleep (when all data on HDD) only first time after i change hibernatemode couple times and force it to sleep. Today i even tried to force it to sleep (menu Apple-Sleep mode) and NOT turn off the power for whole night, in the morning he is in this "stand-by" mode anyway.
Could anyone help me please? i need it sleep but don't want to keep my power on for whole night.
