Does not remember password for Virgin Usage when it does for Webmail

In Firefox 2.0.0.20 (the latest version that will work in WinMe), the username and password for Virgin WEBMAIL is prompted, but the identical information for an identical login form for Virgin Broadband USAGE is NOT prompted; and the settings for REMEMBERING the login details are ineffective FOR THIS SITE. I have tracked differences between these sites to differences in 'Page Info' in
Firefox's Tools menu, but I cannot change the Page Info for USAGE to be the same as for WEBMAIL. I have failed to trigger login-details-prompting by 'artificially' adding them to the Stored Passwords list. Can someone help me make Firefox prompt the login details for USAGE as it does for WEBMAIL ?

I see your reply was on August 16, but I was not alerted to it till now, through a 3rd party.

The second one is for webmail, and the fields are prefilled - which is how I want the first one to behave.

• Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a pasword in the view password window and now it not asking me to remember and also it is not remembering the password when I go

Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a password for a site that was not remembering the correct password for the "view password" window and now it does not guess the password and does not remember the password for that site. All other sites are being remembered.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== After I deleted the password from the view password window.

The saved password feature worked well, but the site I had saved the password for required that I change the password. I have found no way to update the password in Firefox. After I deleted the saved password, Firefox did not ask if I wanted the new password saved. When this happened before, I removed and re-installed Firefox, and then it worked. I hope there is another way to update a password.

• Safari does not remember passwords correctly

Hi all!
I use Safari with several online browser games, where I have to login with user name and password. However, Safari does not complete these forms after loading the page, instead it only completes everything when I have entered the first one or two letters of the user name.
I have read that this might be the case when there are multiple user accounts for one page or domain, but this is the only account for this specific page.
The pages uses some kind of transparent forwarding, so the user name/password information is transmitted to different subdomains, something like a load balancer, I guess (wod1.world-of-dungeons.net, wod2.world-of-dungeons.net,... you get the idea).
Auto-fill is enabled, the passwords are correctly stored in the keychain and everything works as normal once I start typing the user name.
Any ideas on what could cause this?
The page in question is (for example) http://world-of-dungeons.net/
I use Safari 3.1.1 on OSX 10.5.2 on a MacBook, if that helps.
Thanks,
Helge.

Welcome to the Forums!
I don't usually use the AutoFill function, but as I understand it, AutoFill does not automatically populate the form fields when the page loads. You either need to start typing in a field, select Edit menu > AutoFill form (or use the Command-Shift-A keyboard shortcut), or add an AutoFill button to your toolbar (View menu > Customize Toolbar and drag it there) then click it after the page loads.
Hope this helps...

• Since upgrade to iOS4 Safari does not remember passwords

Since I've updated my 3GS to iOS4 via ITunes, Mobile Safari keeps asking to save username and passwords, even if I've visited the site before and said "Yes" to save username and password, at the next visit, Safari doesn't remember and I have to enter the details again.
I've already cleared Cache, History and Cookies, turned off and on the auto-fill option, but the problem persists.
Anyone got an idea ?

Apple seems to have completely missed browser user/password remember feature all over again. This had happened with iPhone 1.1.4 firmware as well. Hope they correct this issue with iOS 4.0.1 update. Apple discussion forum thread specifically mentions users with iPhone 3G and 3GS are facing this issue. Found this on http://iphoneindia.gyanin.com/2010/07/07/ios-4-0-bug-safari-does-not-remember-pa sswords/
Last time a mod called Fix Safari Cookies via Cydia did the trick - Tired of having to enter your username and password everytime you visit your favourite site? With FixSafariCookie not anymore! This package / utility overwrites your cookies and changes the permissions that safari can actually write and save your cookies.

• Safari 4.0 on Windows does not remember password when realm changes.

The site I am using requires authentication. Unfortunately authentication only works the second time (using a different realm). In that case Safari seems not to remember the password (and use it in further requests) so every page I visit in that secure site will require authentication from anew.

Yes only certain messages and also from different senders. I cannot see any relation between the messages

• IPHONE 5 WI-FI does not remember password

My iphone 5 does not memorize the Wi-Fi passwords.
I mean those with a popup screen when you connect to a Wifi network, then type in username/password.
I have to do it every time I connect!!!
My iphone4, and iphone3 used to be fine; Safari memorized those passwords and no re-typing was needed.

Had the same problem. I thought I had tried everything and then the answer was so simple (Thanks to a Chris on this forum!).
Went to 'other' in the list of wifi networks and entered the network name (beware of caps), correct security (in my case WEP) and password. Knew immediately it had worked because the 'forget this network' button appeared in the network details, which it hadn't before.
Yippee!

• Cleared history and now Firefox does not remember passwords

I went to "clear recent history" and chose "everything" on "time range to clear." Now my passwords do not autofill anymore. There are still saved in the "Options" tab.

* Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
* You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
* Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

• All of a sudden, auto-complete does not remember my preferred email addresses when I send an email. It takes an age to give suggestions.

When addressing an email, Thunderbird used to provide a list of options almost instantly. Now it takes several seconds and stops accepting more than three or four characters until it has finished the first search. Then it works on the next few characters - again more seconds tick by. Most frustrating. Gets there eventually!

Dear Mark,
Thank you for this response but I am already using version 31.4. I am not a knowlegdeable computer boffin. All I know is that I used to start addressing an email and a list of options would pop up almost immediately and progressively narrow down as I typed. Now after a few characters it freezes whilst searching for some options, accepts a few more charatcers and then freezes again doing another search. It gets there eventually but so much slower. When a list of options does pop up, it takes a while to accept the address selected.

• ITunes 9 does not remember password.

Is anyone else having this problem? Since iTunes 9 it no longer remembers my password. Even if I check the box to remember it I still have to type it in every time I update an app or download something.
Also, while this doesn't really matter right now because I always type in my password, what happened to the one-click purchase options? I would like to disable it due to the new layout of the app store but I can't find it in my account settings in iTunes.

Me too, but it's not everytime. Sometimes it seems to remember it and other times it doesn't. Very frustrating.

• All of a sudden, auto-complete does not remember my preferred email addresses when I send an email.

Previously when I would create an email and start to fill in the "To" box with an email address, Thunderbird remembered my most used choice. Now, auto-complete simply puts in the alphabetical option and I have to scroll through a long list to find the email address I want. Any ideas?

what a ridiculous decision to change from "starts with" to "contains".
I have a further problem - having selected the address I want from the umpteen options pulled from my address book, I then press enter to add another line for another address.....and the first address I selected changes to a completely different address!
And also addresses from the address book which previously appeared only in black now randomly appear in red.
help please!

• Given a computer and previous administrator does not remember password

I was given an HP Pavilion p7-1414 desktop PC running on Windows 8 by an elderly friend of mine. She was set up as the administrator on this PC, however, she has since passed away and no one knows what her admin password was. I have not been able to figure out how to change the administration from her to myself. I am set up as a user on the PC and have a Windows Account. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi my2007ponyhorse,
Oh my, I'd have to say it's not an easy problem you're stuck in.
Windows is known to be one tough cookie to crack the admin password.
It's really complicated to get through it. The quickest solution would be to backup all your needed files and
re-install win7 or win8 according to your preference. There's pretty much no easy way to get past the admin lockup.
If you need anything else, please let me know. Hope you get it resolved asap.

My dad has dementia - does not remember his password. His hard drive has been erased. We need to reload Mountain Lion and can't figure out how to do it. Internet recovery asks for his Apple ID and password. He has no idea. I have an Apple ID but have never bought anything through the iTunes store so it won't accept my Apple ID. I don't know if his computer is under warranty. He does not remember if he has Applecare. I tried reinstalling Leopard -- the computer originally came with Leopard -- but the computer screen goes grey and a message comes up saying I need to restart. He wants to give this computer to me since it's useless to him. What do I do to get a system on it again?

You will need to reformat the hard drive to go back to Snow Leopard or Leopard.
Does he have a Snow Leopard Disk? He should, as there is no way to go from Leopard to Mountain Lion without it. If you can find the Snow Leopard Disk, I'd at least start with that.
You will need to use Disk Utility in the installer to format the hard drive and get rid of the recovery partition.
Boot from the installer disk by holding down the C key on restart. When it boots, Open Disk Utility (Utilities menu, at least in Snow Leopard).
Select the Hard drive and then click the Partition tab.
Select 1 Partition from the partition menu.
Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format.
Name the drive (Macintosh HD is the standard).
Click Apply to partition the drive.
When it is done, quit Disk Utility and install the OS.
