  • Why does Silverlight install process state that my 64-bit Win Vista OS does NOT support the 64-bit version of Silverlight?

As of Monday 4/20, I've encountered a significant problem with Silverlight on my Vista PC.
Several weeks ago I read a brief item stating that Google would be dropping support for npapi and that it would affect Silverlight sometime in April.  One of my key daily apps uses Silverlight, but I didn't receive notification from that software's author
about the pending change and how it would be handled.  Successfully used the app every week (Mon-Fri) this month for 8-10 hrs/dy day (as I've been doing for the past ~5+ years: past year under Chrome, year before that under FireFox, ~3 prior years
under IE) and on Fri 4/17 shut it down for the weekend.  When I booted up on Mon morning and tried to log into the key app however, it prompted me to download and install Silverlight, acting as though I never had it installed!
I recalled the earlier warning about Google dropping support, so I closed Chrome, started up FireFox, but got the same prompt from the app -- it directed me to install Silverlight.  I downloaded it (had no choice as to which version, just got the "Silverlight_x64.exe"
file) and got part-way through the install when this error msg popped up:  "Unable to Install Silverlight.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight".  WHAT?!   Clicking on the "more info"
link led to this msg:  "Message ID: 1518.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight.  Click here for the latest version of Silverlight."  That link simply led back to the download page which resulted
in receiving another copy of the same executable file.
According to my system ( > Control Panel > System ), I'm running "Windows Vista Home Premium", with a "System Type:  64-bit Operating System".  I've been using this same Vista PC since Sep 2008 and running Silverlight for
    around the past 5 yrs.
? -- Why doe the Silverlight installer code flag my OS as not supported?
? -- Is there a way to get an older version of Silverlight that will run under Vista?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Andy -- Thanks for the link, but I'm not adventurous enough to download from a non-MSFT site.
Besides, since I didn't make any changes to my hardware/software config, I expect a MSFT rep to explain why their two programs suddenly stopped working together and then provide whatever code fix is needed.  A phone call to their tech support (predictably)
led to nowhere but a recommendation to purchase one of the company's support offerings (which I declined to pursue).  The Silverlight development team appears to participate in these forums, so I'd hope one or more of them offers a realistic solution.
Here's something I forgot to mention in my original post:  In several of the threads on this subject (some dating back to 2008!), people have
suggested running IE as the browser vs FireFox or Chrome; however, that idea fails to note that the error msg (Message ID:1518) clearly states that "your operating
system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight"; it doesn't say anything about
    what browser you're using.

  • I keep getting this error message "Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight" even though I have a 64 bit system?

Netflix requires Microsoft Silverlight plug in to view their videos. Every time I try to load it I get the following error message...Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight. I have a 64bit system with Windows Vista Home Premium. Firefox 33.0 is installed.
    Any suggestions?

    Your User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; '''WOW64'''; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0
As said Firefox for Windows from mozilla.org is a 32-bit application. The WOW64 in UA means it is a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows.
Before you ask if there will be a Win64 version of Firefox. If all goes well the first phase of having Win64 for Release may be as early as Firefox 37.0

  • The JDK installed in directory /usr/java14 does not support the 64 bit data

I'm installing the Java Add-in for the ECC 60 SR1 and suddendly during the instalation of the module for the creation od the db schema I recive the error:
"The JDK installed in directory /usr/java14 does not support the 64 bit data model"
I'm using the JSDK 1.4_2 SR3 for AIX, and till now this JSDK was the rigth JSDK for the installation.
What does it means ? DO I have to download the latest JSDK for AIX ?
The only thing changed at Os level before of that error on the JSDK is the installation of the latest perating system patch, but I should be very surprised if there is a relation with the error I'm reciving now.

  • Does OBIEE support following ??

    Hi guys
Can we achieve following from OBIEE or does OBIEE support following
    Scripting/programming language
    1)Argument passing
    2)Local variables
    3)Looping constructs
    4)Control branching
    thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "Scripting/programming language" since OBIEE is neither...
However, I'll comment on the following:
1)Argument passing - yes - through various prompts
2)Local variables - yes - session and presentation
3)Looping constructs - no this isn't possible...but I don't know why would you need them?
4)Control branching - no...you can use external SVNs and keep track of RPD - but there's no such functionality at this point built-in
    Good luck

  • Does SunONE support Solaris 64 bits?

    Hi,
I'm trying to make my app server run on 64bits mode on a Solaris 8 system. I've set the -d64 flag in the jvm options but it seems like it's being ignored. If I dump the system properties from a servlet, I can see sun.arch.data.model is 32. Any other change to the VM is applied and works fine.
Any idea about what is wrong? Does the server support 64 bits?
    Regards,
    Jorge

64-bit JVMs are not supported with Sun App Server (or any app server AFAIK). Note this would required that everything is in available in 64-bit (app server native code, JDBC drivers, etc...)
64-bit allows you to break the 2GB (or 4GB depending on the OS) barrier. Is that what you're trying to do?

  • Does OBIEE supports TimesTen as the data source

We use TimesTen for our in-memory db requirements, and our tables are cached i TimesTen. We are looking to see for OBIEE dashboards, can we use TimesTen as the datasource and is it supported and certified. If yes, could you please provide us the details.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Is it possible to have TimesTen as well as other databases as data source, and then combine them? For example, dimension tables reside on Oracle database, and the fact table resides on TimesTen?
If possible then, could you please show how to do it?
    Thanks.

  • Does TM2 support only two fingers gesture?

For HP support staffs & other Tx2/Tm2 gurus out there:
Hello, I am considering getting a Tm2. However, I read on the web somewhere that the tm2 only supports two finger gesture. This confuses me because the older Tx2 apparently supports up to four finger gesture after installing this driver:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47001-47500/sp47485.exe
<<link thanks to Zirdaj response on March 4th>>
Just to confirm if it's only two fingers for Tm2 and if so, will there be any plan by HP to introduce a driver that will allow the TM2 to support more than two fingers? Would be a shame if they don't as I plan to use Bumptop a lot, and 2 fingers limitation would severely limit the gesture inputs. Thanks!

    THANKS Thomas it works!!!!!!
    This is the fixing code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    document.addEventListener('touchmove', function (e) {e.preventDefault();}, false); document.addEventListener('touchstart', function (e) {e.preventDefault();}, false);
    document.addEventListener('touchend', function (e) {e.preventDefault();}, false);
    </script>
    STILL MANY MANY THANKS!

  • Does isync sync with windows mobile 5? if not whats best phone

    hi all,
i have a htc260 windows 5 smartphone. will this sync succesfully with mac tiger? if so...how? i am currently struggling with mising sync...which is really hit and miss. if this cant be done succesfully which is the best smartphone platform (except iphone as not available in uk)...going nuts. thanx in advance

iSync does not support any Windows Mobile OS device, including the latest Windows Mobile 5 or 6 platforms.
I'm not sure why you're having a hit or miss experience with the Missing Sync for WIndows Mobile: even with an operating system as difficult to interact with as Windows Mobile, the process of setting up and synchronizing such a device should be straightforward.
