Does Oracle E-Delivery provides free Peoplesoft to install at home PCs
Hi All,
I am thinking to download Peoplesoft HRMS from Oracle E-Delivery. As I have tried downloading it already and it let me download freely but I am not sure if the downlaoded setup will allow me to install the applicatoin without any license or so.
Is it really free of cost to install and work on home PCs ? If not then how much it cost?
Your response is awaited.
Regards
Santosh

Yes, it's free
Down load and review the “Read Me” and Notes at the top of the programs list. They are part of the required files.
One of these will have the correct license numbers for your choice of installation.
Generally, Oracle doesn’t mind you installing it on your own system for your personal education purposes. It does them good to have as many people as possible understand how to use their products. Its really greate about Oracle!!
so after downloading all those zipped files(Both for peopletools and Peoplesoft HRMS) do I need to burn them on CD for further installation on my laptop??
because I heard that these are media packs and we need to install them after buring onto CDs
Besides, How do they identify whether the installation is done fo education purpose at home PCs(I am sorry if its a silly question)?..

Does Oracle AIA PIP provides extension points 4 ABC, EBF & EBS?
I wanted to know if all Oracle AIA PIP provided the standard extension points for all the AIA components like ABC, EBF & EBS services?
I am neither finding the extension points in any PIP code for ABC/EBF nor in AIAConfigurationProperties.xml?
Therefore how do I know the PIP code provides standard extension points for all the AIA components like ABC, EBF & EBS services?
Is there any UI or configuration file which mentions about all extension points?
Does, by default the AIAConfigurationProperties.xml files have the setting for all extension for ABC & EBF?
Thanks In Advance!
priyadarshiHi,
All the extension points for ABCS and EBF are configured in AIAConfigurationProperties.xml file and Iam not sure about EBS.
From the AIA Foundation pack you will not able to see any extension point in the above said file.
If you have a PIP installed, then the entry will be seen in the AIAConfigurationProperties.xml as below,
<Property name="ABCSExtension.PrexformMQABM_To_ProcessItemEBM">false</Property>
<Property name="ABCSExtension.PostxformMQABM_To_ProcessItemEBM">false</Property>
<Property name="ABCSExtension.PreInvokeProcessItemEBFV1">false</Property>
<Property name="ABCSExtension.PostInvokeProcessItemEBFV1">false</Property>
Based on the extension used, the value will be true or false for the specific AIA Process.
Thanks,

Problem installing Oracle Linux Release 5 Update 2 from Oracle e-Delivery
Hello
I have been trying to install Oracle Linux Release 5 Update 2 from Oracle e-Delivery so that I can install Oracle 11g express edition beta.
Here are the steps that I took and the problem that I am having:
1. I downloaded the file, unzipped the file twice, which gave me 3,042 files and 13 folders with the total size = 3.07 GB.
2. I put in the DVD and restarted my PC hoping that my PC will boot from the DVD, but instead Window started.
I reported this issue to tech support from e-Delivery, but they referred me to contact you. Please assist.
Julia3,042 files and 13 folders with the total size = 3.07 GBWhich download .zip did you choose from edelivery? Under linux-x64 I peeked "Oracle Linux Release 5 Update 2 for x86_64 (64 Bit) - DVD" file V15099-01.zip downloaded, it has just the one .iso file. You'll need to burn that to DVD, but with burn s/w that handles ISO files.
Also keep in mind you'll need 64 bit hardware (amd/intel 64? itanium? those are different), the only *nix platform I've got handy to try it out is -x86 :( -

When does Oracle stop providing CPU for 11gR1?
Oracle will stopping provide CPU for 10.2 in July 2011. We are debating whether we should upgrade 10.2 to 11gR1 or 11gR2.
11gR2 requires a Kernal Version released in 2008, but the current server OS only has the 2006 version. SA wants to wait for the OS patch. Then, the only option for us DBA would be to upgrade to 11gr1 which is supported by the current OS. It makes sense if Oracle provides CPU for 11gR1 for a while. I have been trying to find out the de-supporting time, but to no avail. If this information is available, please help me out.
Thanks,

Not a problem, but perhaps not optimal to my way of thinking.
If you have a service contract, you normally can open any number of service requests without additional fees. And questions like you have are legitimate. (Although the Oracle Support community does respond to these questions a LOT faster than to SRs.) -
Does Oracle provide public Symbol Files (PDB) for OCCI/OCI ?
When debugging an application under Windows (with Visual Studio or WinDBG) that makes use of OCCI it would often be convenient if there be symbol files (PDB files) for the Oracle OCI/OCCI libraries. ( [public symbol files|http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff553493%28VS.85%29.aspx] , just as Microsoft makes available for all system libraries)
Does Oracle provide these?

I also opened Jetty bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=335813 and It sounds like it is a JVM on windows 2008 problem..

Transaction inside web services, what does Oracle AS provides?
Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
we have tens of web services that we want to deploy them inside one instance of Oracle AS, now we need to have some transaction support in several levels :
- When we insert data into database in a single web services.
- When we have JMS interaction in a single web service.
- When we have JMS + Database interaction in a single web service.
- When a taransaction start from one web service and it must propagate inside second web service and second web service will decide whether it should be commited or not.
What does Oracle AS provides in this area?
If there is no support for this kind of scenario in Oracle AS, then what we should do?
ThanksHi,
1) if you are using Oracle Database 10g JDBC, it can pool connections for you, transparently -- if you are using Oracle AS or Oracle9iAS, you can just use JPublisher to generate the wrapper and deploy it.
2) SSB is too heavy for just placing a JDBC call.
3) a Servlet is lighter-weight that a SSB however, the Web services framework itself uses a Servlet to marchall / unmarshall SOAP messages -- unless your middle-tier requires a J2EE programming model (such as Servle or EJB) to pool JDBC connections
4)For calling-in database operations as web services, our implementation requires the Oracle AS (or Oracle9iAS) OC4J middle-tier (see #1) however, you can invoke external Web services from within the database.
See our Database Web services page for more details and code samples

Does Oracle OLAP comes with Oracle Database 10g ?
1.Does Oracle OLAP comes with Oracle Database 10g or do we need seperate software to have this ?.
2.If I create a Cube with Analytic work space manager the cube is going to be stored in the Database ( meaning the in the table space where OLAP is Stored).
3. What is the difference between Analtyic work space manager and discoverer For Olap.
Help is higly appreciated ..
Thanks, PrasadOne thing to point out : The OLAP option is a costed database option, so while this is automatically installed and part of your database you do have to purchase additional licenses to use this feature. You will need to check with your Oracle account manager to see if you are actually licensed to use this feature.
If you have existing 9i OLAP cubes these can be quickly and easily migrated to 10g OLAP and the documentation explains how to do this. However, there are many new features that are part of 10g OLAP that will improve the performance of your data model that will not be enabled as part of a migration process. Based on my experiences it would be quicker and easier (depending on the size of your existing 9i OLAP cubes) to consider rebuilding your data model using these new 10g features. You should be able to export all the dimensions to XML templates from 9i OLAP and import the templates into the 10g schema and reload your dimensions.
For the cubes you will probably want to consider using partitioning, composites and compression to provide maximum flexibility and performance for your new data model. There is more information on these features within the OLAP documentation and in the many whitepapers and presentations on the OLAP home page on OTN.
For moving data from SQL Server to 10g OLAP much depends on the nature of the data transfer. If it is a one-off bulk data load then you could consider using the normal MS command line tools to dump the data out and transfer it to Oracle. Alternatively, you could consider using Oracle Data Integrator to manage the extraction of the SQL Server data and the data load process into Oracle 10g relational tables. If you decide to use Data Integrator this will require additional licenses.
If you can extract the data from SQL Server to flat files you can use Oracle Warehouse Builder (basic ETL is free as part of the 10g database license) to load that flat file data via external tables. Warehouse Builder can also be used to define your OLAP data model (think of Warehouse Builder as a more powerful version of Analytic Workspace Manager) and provides tools to load the data directly into your OLAP dimensions and cubes. You can get more information on managing OLAP data models with Warehouse Builder the Warehouse Builder home page on OTN.
There are no facilities to modify Discoverer Viewer to add customisations. You can add company logos, modify certain colors and/or hide certain features but it is not possible to add additional features. You may want to consider using BI Beans to provide this type of environment. BI Beans is the development framework used to create Discoverer Viewer. You can create customised JSP pages that look identical to Discoverer Viewer pages with the added benefit of providing your own specific features. You can get more information on the BI Beans home page on OTN.

Ann: Jinspired Provides Free JDBInsight 1.2 Developer Edition License
Press Release
===================================================================
Jinspired Provides Free JDBInsight 1.2 Developer Edition License
DUBLIN, IRELAND - 14 April , 2003 - Jinspired (www.jinspired.com), a leader in
J2EE™ transaction analysis, today announced that it is providing a free license
for the Developer Edition of its innovative performance tuning product, JDBInsight
1.2.
J2EE™ developers using JDBInsight 1.2, can now acquire a greater understanding
of the transactional behaviour of their J2EE™ components from day one. With the
early adoption of JDBInsight in the development life cycle, many of the common
performance problems can be prevented. JDBInsight's unique and powerful information
visualizations of SQL and JDBC™ transactions, make it an ideal tool for those
development teams looking to reduce the risks of incurring future performance
and scalability problems with their J2EE™ applications.
"The feedback from the development and performance testing community regarding
JDBInsight's low overhead, transactional behaviour data capture, and user interface
has been phenomenal.", said William Louth, CTO & Product Architect, Jinspired.
“The reason for providing a free Developer Edition license is to encourage the
early adoption of Java application performance and monitoring products. Typically,
Jinspired is called in to resolve performance problems too late in the development
lifecycle, resulting in increased development, hardware and software costs to
the customer that could have been prevented.”
How to get a free developer license?

About JDBInsight
JDBInsight is an innovative enterprise development product, aimed at simplifying
the performance tuning and testing of J2EE™ applications, which access data through
the Java Database Connectivity (JDBC™) API. JDBInsight analyses the access of
enterprise data by J2EE™ client-, web-, and bean containers. The analysis can
encompass transaction executions, from multiple J2EE™ containers. JDBInsight captures
timing and execution information for enterprise data accessed by Servlets, JavaServer
Pages, Session- and Entity Beans using JDBC™ or an Entity Bean using a container's
persistence engine. JDBInsight can also profile non-J2EE applications that access
enterprise data through the JDBC™ API.
About Jinspired
Jinspired located in Ireland, delivers JDBInsight, a comprehensive solution for
Application Performance Tuning and Testing that focuses directly on early identification
within the development and testing lifecycle. Jinspired offers sophisticated analytical
tools, that capture transactional behaviour and performance timing information,
across multiple containers in a single console, and presents this information
