Does Oracle EE license allow use of SE?

My company has license, support, and software updates for Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. Are we allowed to install and use Oracle Database Standard Edition? We want to use 10g Standard Edition's RAC for a project and will be sticking CPU limits.

My understanding is you will require additional licences for the new installation in production. However, I am not an Oracle employee, a licencing expert or a lawyer, so I advise you to discuss this with your Oracle account manager.

we want to create a component which uses the itext component for splitting pdf files. The itext component comes with the oracle ucm 11g standard installation.
Our question would be, if it is allowed to use the itext libraries for our own needs, since the libs come with the standard ucm installation.

I have a desktop iMac and a Macbook notebook. I just purchased Adobe Web Standard CS3 (student license).
Can I install and activate the package on both of my computers? I know I could do this with a regular license, but I was unsure about the student license.

I purchased adobe cs3 primium but i already had photoshop installed. I installed cs3 primium and now i keep getting the error that the licensing has stopped working can't use file cont IT or cust. support. I tried to download the clean file and it gives me the same error to open this file. i tried to uninstall with control panel programs and uninstall and it gives me the error uninstall not complete. I tried to repair with disc and uninstall with the disc and nothing is working. I have windows vista with 100g hd 500 mem duo core all the proper requirements but i can't get this to work.'

Does oracle 8i and beyond use ORA_ENCRYPT_LOGIN?

Does sqlldr and sqlplus for Oracle 8i and later use
the ORA_ENCRYPT_LOGIN Environment variable anymore?

i believe the ORA_ENCRYPT_LOGIN is still valid in 8i + but only has an effect when we are connecting to much earlier versions of the database. Net8 always encrypts passwords, so setting this parameter has no effect when connecting to an 8i database.

Does Customer need License to use FSCM components - Collection, Dispute

We have recently upgraded to ECC 6.0. I see the FSCM components being available in IMG and can be configurable. My Question is Do my customer need additional License to use FSCM components. The client is interested in Collection, Dispute and Credit Management.
Any help is appriciated.

Does Oracle allows zero length string

Hi,
I tried to insert zero length string ('') into an Oracle table, a null value and a non-empty string. But I found that zero length string and null are stored as NULL in the column.
Create table test (col1 number(2), col2 varchar(10));
Insert into test values (1, 'hi');
Insert into test values (2, NULL);
Insert into test values (3, '');
Select * from test where col2 is null;
Result: 2 rows
Select * from test where col2 = '';
Result: 0 rows
Is this to do with some environment setting in SQL* Plus or does oracle doesn't allow zero length string?

Oracle treats '' as NULL.
There are frequent murmurs that some new version of Oracle is going to change this behaviour (I believe it's not ANSI-compliant) but I doubt that they will, as it will break too many old applications.

I am part of a DR exercise for ESX 2.5 installation. Question is whether ESX 2.5 requires serial numbers on install to allow power on of virtual machines?
Or does it allow time period where vms power on for trial period?
The ESX 2.5 admin doc says it must have licenses in order to power on vms.
Can the serial numbers of production ESX 2.5 be used for DR exercise, or is the serial tied to hardware. (I think it could be used.)

VMware even in the early days provided a 60 day evaluation license - this applies ESX 2.x and VC 1.x - the same limitations that apply today apply to the ESX 2.x once the eval period runs out - you will not be able to power on VMs -

Illegal dependency access list does not allow use of caf/eu/gp/api

I am using NWDS 2004s and working with GP implementation.
I am also able to see the development components as caf/eu/gp/api and sap.com/caf/gp/api/wd after copying the required files.
But while selecting caf/eu/gp/api i am getting following exception

Are you using NWDI for development, or local development?
I had the same problem when using local development components. I read somewhere in the documentation that for this you have to use the NWDI.
Now I am using NWDI and this is working correctly.

We have recently purchased Toad and Spotlight, in Spotlight we keep getting an alarm raised for Parse SQL requests (Library cache latches alert) When I've researched into this the recommendation is to try to improve the use of bind variables within your application.
Please could someone help me answer this?
