Does Oracle Track User

Hi,
I'm just wondering whether Oracle does keep track of the user which had logged into the database.
Meaning having a text files or tables which have information of the username, log and logout time, etc.
This might be needed to increase the security of the database.
Thanks.

You can view logon times for users from the listener.log file here's what a logon looks like in that file:
12-JUN-2002 08:44:42 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=oraprod)(CID=(PROGRAM=D:\oracle817cli\bin\SQLPLUSW.EXE)(HOST=xxxxx)(USER=aglick))) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)(PORT=1551)) * establish * oraprod * 0
You can also tell where a users connecting from and what program they're using. Note that the x's will have actual values there - I don't care to give out my IP address and other information.
If you need more information than logon times you'll have to do what Andrew suggested.

    Hi,
We are currently using Oracle HRMS R12.0.6. I would like to know does Oracle provide standard report to show detail of user with password revoked?
    Appreciate advise.

Develop a package to do it if you need the password. Create the packages . Execute the SQL to determine the password. Make sure you replace the &USER_NAME with the USER NAME at the end..

  • Tracking user in logs

    Gurus,
I have this question about tracking users.
Since there are so many log files in hyperion, I was just wondering if someone can help me with this.
What log file would I view to see what user has retrieved a financial report at a specific time in workspace.
We have been having this problem of the print services crashing a lot which is why I am curious to know which user is trying to pull a report or calculation when the reports crash.
    For example,
user A retrieves a financial report in workspace, what log would tell me the user A trying to pull the report.
Also if user A is doing a calculation, what log would i view that would tell me the user has run a calculation and the name of calculation.
    Thanks

I don't see the USAGE table getting populated with FR report usage in 11.1.2.2. However I've these in the FRLogging.log (MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/domain name/servers/managed server name/logs
    FRLogging.log)
This entire record is for one report open.

Reengineering Desktop Thick Workgroups into Web
    Rich Enterprise Clients
Bryan Hall, Spatial Architect, L-3 Communications
Jeff Walawender, Senior Software Engineer, L-3 Communications
Cost cutting requires reengineering spatial solutions to directly address business requirements. But enterprise computing for spatial data has, with even "Web 2.0", required the user to lose the responsiveness and feedback that traditional desktop thick client GIS software has provided. We took a different approach in the re-engineering effort and concentrated on making it work as much like a traditional desktop thick client - while simplifying use, making editing more reliable, and actually speeding up rendering. All this, while only supporting one versioned Oracle Spatial database, and application tier for all users.

  • Tutorial - how to track user progress in a Captivate movie

I wanted to start working with the new scripting capabilities
in Captivate 4 and thought a good first project would be to create
a set of variables and custom actions and execute the actions based
on the state of the variables. I wrote up a description/walkthrough
with screenshots and the source .cp is downloadable here:
    http://elearninglive.com/wordpress/2009/01/tracking-user-progress-in-captivate-4-using-var iables-and-actions/
Hopefully it proves useful to others!
A couple of things I mention at the bottom of the post in
regards to the new features in CP4:
    1. The actions window is amazingly slow once you add more
than a handful of actions. Perhaps it's just my machine? I have a
very fast machine with lots of ram, but perhaps it's something
    unique to my environment?
    2. You can't 'chain' actions. In other words, you cannot use
'execute multiple actions' setting to execute user-created actions,
just the built-in ones, which seems to me a pretty big limitation.
I had to work around it.
    3. As an add-on to #1 above - there is no way to
import/export code. Since the actions window is so slow it would be
ideal if we could just import code written in a text file, or
better yet, have a simple code editor (like the actions panel in
    Flash).
My 2 cents, fwtw, as a new CP4 user....

The biggest problem Authorware had was poor marketing. Second
    was it had no
way to natively create the eye-candy that Flash was wowing
    the world with.
Third, there was no attempt by Macromedia modernise
    Authorware with a lot of
very basic things that would have made a huge difference to
    everyone's
    perception of the tool
Fourth, Marketing kept telling people Authorware was dead,

I think it is clear to those of us that have had to move to
    Captivate from
Authorware that Captivate is *very* lacking in specific
    advanced features
and functionality that old hands are used to. As with any
    product, users are
bombarding adobe with requests that boost the power and scope
    of Captivate.
    It's a natural progression.

  • Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.
grant select on FND_USER to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_APPLICATION to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_USER_RESPONSIBILITY to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_RESPONSIBILITY_VL to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_ORACLE_USERID to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_DATA_GROUP_UNITS to &EULOWNER
This is Discoverer 10g and Oracle 10g database.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Rod,
I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

  • How does oracle know which AO Framework page or process to execute.

    Hi,
How does oracle know which AO Framework page or process to execute. I use to think this was defined in the Function definition. But looking through some Function definition in HRMS setup I noticed some of them simply calling the same first page, such as the one below used in many managers menus. This initial page is the page that allows managers to choose the employee they want to work on.
    OA.jsp?akRegionCode=HR_PERSON_TREE_TOP_SS&akRegionApplicationId=800.
My question is, after executing this initial page, how does Oracle then varies the OA page by the diffferent functions?

  • Driver for oracle enterpririse user

does creating a connection pool in weblogic for oracle enterprise user needs any special driver? ,
I can create connection pool for any normal user but if it is enterprise user connection to database is denied , what care should I take for an enterprise user ,
as for my database knowlwdge I donot know the difference between normal user and enterprise user , why enterprise user connection id different ?

That's an awfully old Oracle version - unless your company is paying out their rear-end, I doubt Oracle supports it at all. Even Oracle Technology Network only goes back as far as Oracle 8i (AKA 8.1).
I doubt you'll be able to find such an old driver and if you do, I'd wonder about how well it might work with any recent (last several years) JVM.
Why are you stuck with such an old version?

  • How does oracle suggest the archive log

    Hi All,
My question is about user managed backup and recovery.
For User managed hot database refreshes.
We  create a new controlfile and do cancel based recovery.
How does oracle suggest the next archive to apply when we do "recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;"
I mean we created a new control file ..rt.
where is the information about the archivelogs stored.
    Thanks,
    Silver

    In the controlfile.
The "using backup controlfile" means using a backed up controlfile, and you want to fool Oracle into thinking a point in time recovery will happen so don't use what would be the controlfiles current scn time to automatically say the recovery is complete.  If you have created a new controlfile, all it can know about is where the logs should be and compare to what log sequences the datafile headers have.  So it uses the init.ora parameters and what the data file headers have in them to figure it out. http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:3151992035532#36651366990046
If you backup controlfile to trace you can see log files that have the incarnation history.  See "Recovering Through a RESETLOGS with a Created Control File"  in Performing User-Managed Recovery: Advanced Scenarios

How come this values reset to null? What is causing this to reset?Nothing in this has anything to do with the sever. You need to check what the client did on his machine that caused registry to get modified?
How does oracle ODBC works with Oracle database? Need to know all the steps involved? The connectoin from any client is initiated by a client process. This client process is supposed to get a server process to do his work. So if this is done, the client can work now with oracle . Please see the concepts guide for the gory details of the entire process.

Ok, when you say you merged the Usage Tracking rpd, where did you get it from? Also, which tables did you create in the database for Usage Tracking? Please try to use the rpd here since the one that comes with the installation had issues: http://total-bi.com/2011/09/obiee-11g-usage-tracking-rpd/

  • Svrmgrl connect internal fails after changing oracle os user passwd on 8.06

    Hello,
    I've this problem.
    I've installed oracle rdbms 8.0.6 on HP-UX 10.20.
I've choosen o.s. authentication system with password file.
In the password file I set the password of the os user oracle which owns installation.
In first time svrmgrl connect internal looks good.
But when I've changed oracle os user password, and i retry to do connect internal
    I receive the following message:
    SVRMGR> connect internal;
    Password:
    Password:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I've tried to reset the password to the old one, but it's unuseful
    Could someone help me?

In the password file I set the password of the os
user oracle which owns installation. The Password for the password file is supposed to be the SYS password and not OS User oracle which owns installation.
I do not think the Oracle OS user password change is the problem. When you alter SYS password using the alter user command, it should change the password file automatically.
    Try
SVRMGR> connect sys/sys_password as see whether it works. If it does not, then check other issues.

  • Oracle OS User on Unix

    Hi all.
I am running Oracle 9i on Solaris 9. I can get the OS User by executing the following select:
    select sys_context('userenv','os_user') from dual;
My question is, how does Oracle pick up this OS User? Is there a way to spoof the user?
    Thanks in advance!
    David

The effective user is extracted from the system by SQL*Net and reported to the database when a new connection is negotiated. I know of no way to fool the database on this.
    Kind regards,

  • Created EUL - Oracle Apps users only

    Hello, all!
An EUL was previously created and the Oracle Apps users only was checked, which was supposed to be not. Business areas and folders were already created and i want to reuse all. Is there a way i can change the EUL to make it not for oracle apps users (uncheck or something). I tried exporting the eul but got an error ORA-00942 - table or view does not exist.
    Thanks in advance.

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
You cannot disable/expire seeded EBS accounts (such as AK, ALR, AMF etc).
