Does OSX 10.6 work with iCloud? Thought I read somewhere that you cannot connect to iCloud if you are running Snow Leopard.

No. You need 10.7.2 or later for iCloud.

Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

I have iOs 8.1, but I have not enabled iCloud Drive or iCloud Photo Library yet, and I have not updated to Yosemite yet. I don't want to activate those until I know how photos between thee mac and iPhone will work after they are enabled.

You can view your iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and download from iCloud Photo Library (Beta) at https://beta.icloud.com or https://www.icloud.com on your Mac, if you click the "Photos" icon. Click the "?" mark, to view the help for "Photos". But you cannot yet upload directly from your Mac to this library, even if the iCloud Photos Help is saying otherwise.
You can download to your mac from your devices using USB, but with iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled on your iPad or iPhone, you can no longer sync photos to them using iTunes Photo sync. So it is hard to get any photos onto your devices at the moment, other than using Photo Stream. To upload photos to your iPad/iPhone using iTunes you have to disable iCloud Photo Library. And the synced photos will be erased, when you enable iCloud Photo Library again.

ACR 8.4 has already been released for Elements 12.
You can check for updates using Photo Editor / Help / Updates on Windows. ACR 8.4 is only compatible with newer OSes, though, so if you have tried updating and everything shows as being up-to-date, then perhaps that is the issue.

Yes, if you set up the new AirPort Extreme using the guidelines above. The 10.6.8 Mac will be able to connect to the AirPort Extreme, but it will not be able to make any configuration changes.

Does keynote 09 work with iCloud?

I can't seem to get Keynote to sync in icloud. It is the '09 version. Do I need to download the $9.99 app from the app store...is that a version that would work?

In OS X Keynote 09 (version 5.2) works with iCloud. If you want to sync with an iOS device then you need the iOS app on that device. This is working for me although I have to stop and think about it every time I won't to use it. Either I don't use it enough or it is not intuitively obvious. I think the latter.
It does work and many more of the functions work in iOS than they did a few months ago.

When I purchased my computer I installed office for mac so I susally used outlook with no problems. My original apple id is the same as my pop server based e-mail account. I had an old me.com account but never used it. When I set up i cloud on my macbook I could not get my email to download to the cloud. My calendars, contacts and everything else works. Your pop account won't work with iCloud, it's the alternate me address you get when you create an iCloud account that works with iCloud. Outlook won't work with iCloud either, you need to use Address Book, iCal etc etc.

You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.

Both you and the recipient have to have active data connections, and both devices have to have iOS 5 or higher to be able to use iMessage. Also, they both have to have iMessage activated. If that is already the case, there is a possiblility that iMessage is down. It has gone up and down several times in the past week. Messages Text Invitation Alert does not seem to work with AIM account

Back in the days of iChat - I had a Text Invitation Alert setup to play a sound and repeat that sound. This way if I was away from my computer, it would keep making noise until I accepted/declined the IM.
Now I upgraded to Mountain Lion and am using Messages which replaced iChat. The only account that I have is an AOL Instant Messager (AIM) account. During the upgrade, it kept my setting of a Text Invitation Alert set to repeat.
A couple of things that I notice - when I closed an iChat conversation, that was the end of the conversation and a message from someone after that point was treated like a new Text Invitation. With Messages - I actually have to 'delete the conversation' as all of my conversations are in the same application window.
Here is where the problem comes in... having NO active conversations (i.e. nothing is shown on the right side of the Messages window except 'No Conversations') and having the application closed but my status set to Available - it does NOT play the Alert sound, only bounces the dock icon once.
Having NO active conversations but the application running in the background it performs as expected.
With iChat, a text invitation was treated the same way if the application was closed or if it was running in the background.
Since my default is to have the application closed (with my status as Available), I am looking for Messages to provide the same functionality with regards to Alerts.
Any help?

Your pop account won't work with iCloud, it's the alternate me address you get when you create an iCloud account that works with iCloud. Outlook won't work with iCloud either, you need to use Address Book, iCal etc etc.

Yes, it is possible. 1 apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices.

If you have authorized a computer with the old apple ID, you can transfer old media purchased through the old to other devices via iTunes. This doesn't mean the media purchases through the old apple ID it transferred to the new account. If you plan to make future purchases and don't wish to share them with others, make your own apple ID.

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user. That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) . When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device. You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc. itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account.
