does pages have a Romanian language corrector?

Spellcheck is done by the OS and not by the app.  OS X has no spellcheck for Romanian, but you might be able to add it.  See

  • I am a writer who recently moved from the PC world and purchased a MacBook Air. I love the Air. However, I use MS Word extensively. I am use to the extensive grammar settings in Word. Does Pages have anything that robust? I can't find it. Thanks.

Does Pages have the robust grammar settings that MS Word has? I can't find them. Word identifies run-on sentences, possessives and plurals, subject-verb disagreement, passive voice, split infinitives, contractions, excessively wordy sentences, etc. Does Pages have those capablities? If not and I buy MS Word for mac, does it perform well on the Mac?

If you would like to check out what sorts of issues people have with MS Word for Mac, you can have a look a the forum run by MS for that:

  • Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

Does pages have an equivalent for Word's option of viewing a document in "online layout"?

With online layout you can have the page of your document fill up as much of the screen as you want while being able to zoom the viewing of your text or words to any percentage you want. In pages, I can zoom or stretch the document to fit the full width of the screen, but the view the actual text or words themselves correspondingly enlarges as well.

  • HT4641 Does pages have a document password protection function

Does pages have a password protection function since adobe PDF for IPhone3gs or IPad2 does not?

If you were to think laterally about this, you could also create encrypted archives for just those folders or files you were interested in to minimise the possible harm. Similar to the disk images Magnus suggested, but slightly less trouble. Modern Macs are very fast at unarchiving these files so you can work on them then archive them again without too much trouble.
I am a great fan of those tiny USB harddrives and thumbdrives, which easily slip into your pocket so you can take them with you.
My backup consists of a set of three 4Gb USB thumbdrives for my documents and 3 differently colored USB harddrives for my larger material.
If your work is on these, you simply detach them from your computer and keep them locked up or on your person.
Nobody will be able to access those without bailing you up.
… And of course you can use a combination of any and all of the above suggestions.

  • Does Pages have something equivalent to MS Word's "Word Art"?

Does Pages have something equivalent to MS Word's "Word Art?"

Thanks but I mean stylized lettering like those below, not clip art.

  • Does pages have a template for a calendar?

Does pages have a template for a calendar? I am the editor of a church newsletter and I want to include a calendar of events.

I've just tested those Word calendars.
Because Word actually has a calendar format built-in, most of those templates will not open cleanly in Pages.
You can use some of the tabbed text, after you copy it out of the tables and reformat it into a new table in Pages but there will be extra steps involved.

  • Does Pages have any clip art?

I am trying out Pages after having used Word for last five years or so, but I am finding it very frustrating when it comes to clip art.
Does Pages come with any clip art? Is there any clip art out there especially for Pages?
Word has a lot of clip art and a very useful web page that works very smoothly with the Clip Art Gallery; Does Pages have anything similar?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Muz

Muz- I understand your approach. If you have access to both Word and Pages, maybe you could use the occasional Word clipart as an image inside Pages. I find Pages far simpler than Word when it comes to interating images into a body of text.
Hybrid solutions are no good, though. From within Pages, you can click "Pages, Provide pages Feedback" and request clipart in a future version. Good luck.

  • Does Pages have a mirror margin option in formatting?

Does Pages have the formatting option called Mirror Margin?

We have no idea because we don't know what version of Pages you are using.
In Pages '08/'09 Inspector > Document > Document > Document Margin > check Facing Pages and adjust the inside/ouside margins
In Pages 5, no because Apple has removed this along with 100 other features.

  • Does Pages have the feature I am looking for?  Or does TextEdit (i hope so)

hello! I was looking for a specific wordpad function, and was hoping that Apple's TextEdit program had such a feature.
What I am looking for, is the ability to insert the equivalent of one of those little triangles that point to the right, indicating that there is expandable content if clicked (which would of course reveal the content underneath what followed the triangle, which would than be pointing downward). You know, very much like how you view a finder window in 'list view'.
I would love to have those expandable/collapsable triangles for lists I set up in TesxtEdit. This function would also work well for writing paper outlines, or organizing information under various topic headings, so I could enter notes and content under each heading's dropdown area of text, and than collapse it to minimize the cluttering of my document.
Does TextEdit have a feature that provides the same kind of result? If not, does anyone know of any program that has a feature like this? I currently have been employing TextEdit for my needs running Tiger, so please fill me in on any features that TextEdit under Leopard might have that would get me to my desired goal.
    Thanks!!!!!

No, you are describing a form of Outlining that Pages does not do neither does TextEdit nor any other text editor I know of.
    OmniOutliner does however do this:

Pages' Outline feature does something similar but without the little rotating arrow.

  • Does pages have a search feature on documents

Does pages offer a search feature for documents.  If I have a document and want to search for a specific word or phrase how can this be done?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Try a Spotlight search?
If you've never used it, Spotlight is the 'sort of magnifying glass' icon at the upper right corner of the top menu bar.
    Click on the Spotlight icon.
In the box that opens, type in your search term(s), a space, and .pages, and click on Show All
Spotlight will open a Finder window.
You can refine your search results including where to search This Mac or "Desktop" for example, and whether searching for Contents (words or strings embedded within documents) or Filename.
Now you can choose a document from the results displayed.
Clicking on a filename and pressing the space bar lets you view the document without actually opening the program that created it.
You can control what kinds of documents are/are not indexed by selecting  from the top menu bar, then System Preferences, Personal, Spotlight.

Does Pages offer a facility for UK English in Dictionary or Spelling Checker?

For spell checking, you can set to British English in Inspector > Text > More > Language
For the system-wide Dictionary.app, in 10.7 you can set it to British English editions by going to its Preferences and checking the appropriate boxes

  • Does Pages have a password function to protect my files from kids?

    Hi all,
I want to protect my Pages files from tampering by our kids if I get distracted by someone at the front door and don't log out of all my software and computer. I downloaded the trial version, and it doesn't seem to have the Password option in the Save options?
I also have some business and financial information I'd like to password protect. Serious hackers could probably get past my passwords, but at least not the kids.
    Any ideas?
