Does Palm Desktop sing on the intel-macs?

I havent synced my treo in weeks and was wondering if palm deskstop works with intel-macs even under rosetta or something?

The latest version of Missing Sync bypasses iSync and uses Sync Services directly. It does things like sync the custom fields in your address book entries (Palm Desktop doesn't) and integrates with iPhoto and iTunes to sync photos and music. You can set up profiles of conduits so that only the conduits pertinent to the profile run. It also supports LAN sync if your PDA has wi-fi capabilities, which is far faster than Bluetooth.

  • Does Palm Desktop 4.1.1 work on Windows 8.1/64 bit?

Have never posted on a forum before so a bit nervous - but desperation needs must!
Have followed closely replies to other queries on this Palm forum (and the wonderful work which Wyrenut, SMKranz and many others do - well done chaps!). However can't quite locate the answers that I'm looking for. So please help if you can! Here goes:
Current situation: running PD 4.1.1 on Windows XP/32 bit. Handset is TungstenT which is limping badly and only rarely synced with. So it is the Desktop which is most important.
Migrating to Windows 8.1/64 bit and would like to continue using 4.1.1. Will it work? Any major downsides if it does? Will it sync with the handset if it is ever required - by bluetooth or usb (with the hep of those Acerca drivers)?
If 6.2. is the only option for  8.1 which format should I export Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and memos in?   PD 4.1 offers, in addition to the default, several other possibility(csv, text, tab, vcard). Confused about which one is best
Any help you can give would be most gratefully received. Thanks

    xenssa,
Palm Desktop 4.1 does work on Windows 8/64 bit.
I have not updated to 8.1
If I was to buy a new PC with Win 8.1 I would try Palm Desktop 4.1
I have been using it for 3 months with no problems. I have a Zire 72.
I do a USB HotSync using the Aceeca driver.
When you install the Palm Desktop software skip check the internet for updates step.
I have my Windows UAC (User account Control) set to Never Notify.
I set the Palm Desktop/ Properties/Compatibility to  Run this program as administrator.
To make Palm Desktop "Run as Administrator" every time in Windows 8/8.1:
Close Palm Desktop, if open. (This is a very important thing to always do when using Palm Desktop, it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)
Right Click on the Palm Desktop Icon in the Metro screen, then choose "Open File Location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.
Right-click on the "Palm Desktop" shortcut file, then Properties.  Now pick the Compatibility Tab at the top.
At the bottom of the Compatibility Tab is a checkbox:  "Run this Program as Administrator".  Put a check in the box, then click OK  to close the window.
I use the Import Export feature in Palm Desktop to Backup my Calendar and Contacts and save in my Dropbox.
I use .dba (Calendar) and .aba (Contacts) formats.
I use PD 4.1 with Vista, Win 7, and Win 8.
I can create a PD Backup on any of these PCs and import it into another PC.
Make sure to select all Contacts before you backup, only the highlighted contacts will be exported.
I use the vCard format to move Palm contacts to my Gmail contacts

Does anyone know how well the Intel Iris Pro installed on new 15" MacBook Pros performs using Photoshop and Lightroom?  I have seen some differing opinions out there, and I would rather not shell out the extra cash for the Nvidia if I don't have to. I mostly do photo editing for business and personal use. I have not used the 3D function in Photoshop, but I would like to know that I could.

  • Can the Intel Mac run OS 10.4.6?

Can the Intel Mac hard drive be split and run OS 10.4.6 on the second drive?

Only if it shipped with that or an earlier Mac OS X version.

  • Photo Editing Software for the Intel Mac

I've just gotten a Nikon D50 and am trying to figure out what software to purchase to use on my Intel Imac. Obviously something that runs natively would be ideal, but "good" performance would be enough. I'm just an amateur photographer looking to improve my pictures.
Aperture is pricey and has gotten mixed reviews. Nikon is coming out with new Capture software next month (NX I believe), but it doesn't look like it will run natively on the Intel Mac.
Photoshop Elements might be the ticket, though of course it won't run natively now. It will, I believe, allow for "spot" editing, something that the still-beta Lightroom won't do, and something I think I want to be able to do.
Should I consider Boot Camp and PSE for Windows? Would that be a better experience than running the Mac version on my Intel machine? Looks like there's better pricing on the Windows version (at least on Ebay) than the Mac version, but so far I have resisted Boot Camp...hoping to stay out of the Windows world as much as possible.
Is there something else I should be looking at?
I know I'm all over the map here...I'm kind of confused, and just want to get to work making some of these pictures look better. Thanks.

I have a similar question. I don't think I need all the power of Photoshop CS or GIMP, but is there a photo editing package that can change backgrounds of photos? For example, change a black background to white? Can iPhoto do this? Can Photoshop Elements run on iMac Intel? Can PS Elements do this kind of editing? Thanks.

  • Games on the intel Mac -what have you found that runs the best?

Personally, I'm rediscovering the original Unreal Tournament as that is running at over 70 FPS on the CD Mac. Call of Duty runs really well too and Halo is playable with and average FPS rate of 18. Halo got a little smoother with the boost to 1024 Ram.
Only thing that's annoying me is that my favourite little desktop game APEIRON X runs really jerkily despite using only 7% of the processor

yep the original unreal works very well but does not run at the resolution of the 20"screen just about to try the universal demo version that came out yesterday
any one else tried it ?

  • The Intel Mac Mini uses on-board graphics... how good are they?

I'm seriously considering getting an Intel Mac Mini and telling all my friends to get one, too. However, there's one problem - the graphics.
The whole reason I'd want an Intel Mac would be so that I could dual-boot into Windows Vista (when it comes out) in order to play the latest games.
How suitable are the on-board graphics for gaming? Would it be able to play Halo and Command & Conquer Generals well?
Basically, I want to know if it's the equivalent of a 64 MB graphics chip in speed, or if having on-board graphics makes it a bit slower. Does it have hardware acceleration? And is it suitable for smooth casual gaming at an average resolution?

I am very uneasy about finding integrated graphics in the new mini too.
When I first saw the new Mini website on Apple's website I was so excited "intel processor", "4 usb ports", "faster drives" but something was missing from the website; the "graphics" sub-category. I instantly wondering what was up with that, thinking right away obviously the graphics weren't good enough to brag about. I was right. On Apple's MacMini website, on the "Intel Core" sub-category page, bottom of the page, right side there's a weee comment on integrated graphics, "oh." was my only thought.
It's really disappointing to see integrated graphics in the new Mini. That AND the increase in price. The price of the Intel iMac dropped by $100 when it got introduced, but the Intel Mini's price goes up $100 upon introduction, further closing the price between the iMac and the Mini and making the iMac looking more and more attractice in terms of features-performance-price-value. I better run out and buy a Intel iMac before Apple removes the miniDVI-out port (which I'm predicting it will be removed in the next iMac revision)
Hopefully some Intel MacMini review tests in the coming weeks will reveal better-than-expected graphics performance.
I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this but... doesn't anyone here see that Apple has given us a preview of what's to come by putting integrated graphics in the new Intel MacMini? -- Anyone? I'll tell you -- we're going to see the exact same integrated graphics in the upcoming Intel iBooks, that's what.

  • Moving data from old computer to new computer. where does Palm Desktop app find conduit apps?

    Please help,
I have backed up my old database files from my Palm programs off of my old computer
(The hard drive and computer were going bad, and then it died).
Question:  what directories and where do I copy the old data, so I can hotsync?
I hotsynced once, but I don't see the programs in the Hotsynce conduit screen, where
you select to handheld overwrite  desktop  or  synchronize the files.
Question: In the conduit screen, what directory does it look for the programs in?
    I have a Sony-Clie, PEG-SJ22, Palm Desktop v4.1, Hotsync Mgr 4.1.0, .
I have spend 4 days on re-installing palm software, to solve the usb hotsync issue.
I'm finally able to hotsync,  Thanks to previous postings and hours of re-installing different versions
    of the palm software.
Any help on the questions, would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The directory for your data will typically be c>program files>palm>[user folder, usually an abbreviated version of your Hotsync ID]
Are the missing conduits for third-party applications?  If so, you will have to track down and reinstall them...most apps which have a conduit must run an installation routine on the desktop to actually install the conduit.

Sorry Marty but no, OS 9 won't run at all on the Intel based
    Macs. It'd
still run in Classic if you got a PowerPC based Mac but, at
    this point, you
don't really want to be doing that. You're going to get
    yourself an upgraded
    version of Fireworks.

  • Researching the Intel Macs - way lost

This research is not for me, I'm very happy with my G4 DDR. But unfortunately, I am totally behind on the new Macs. Need help fast before my brother goes out and buys himself another PC.
My brother, a PC user, trades stocks, I know nothing about this topic. He is tired of having his PCs crash taking all his info with them. He is interested in buying a Mac because he’s heard he can also run windows and still use the download program called Scottrade Elite, which is for windows only.
I looked at the info for iMac 2X and Mac Pro 4X, then there’s the Intel core Duo and the intel Xeon, and the mini, and the ..., but since I've been so happy with my G4, I'm totally behind on these new Macs, and the forum questions/answers are blowing my mind.
What does he need? He's not into video, art, games, just needs to be able to trade on a reliable computer using a PC program. I haven’t mentioned Virtual PC, because this may put him into overload (too much information).
As usual, your help will be most appreciated.

Thank you Ned, Todd, and Kappy!
Ned, I think you’ve come up with the easiest and cheapest solution - the Mac Mini. I’m sure he has a monitor that will work. Now, does the same little adaptor that works on all the older macs work on the mini Mac allowing a PC monitor plug-in to be used on a Mac? Or, he can just buy himself a large display monitor. (It’s fun spending someone else’s money.) I doubt he would even use the Mac side. To him, a computer is just a tool. Yea, I thought the Pro was like driving a 2 ton pickup to pull a kid’s wagon.
Todd, you gave me some good information for comparisons. The ‘virtualization’ sounds really good, but probably too complicated for him to figure out.
The ‘native’ running windows with the Intel Chip sounds like what is in the Mac Mini, right? Maybe I could even get him to peek at the Mac Side eventually. I have heard that one has to purchase a copy of windows, where as the OSX comes with the Mini, right? Is the firmware tweak, Boot Camp, a free download, or does one purchase it?
The emulation is way out. My husband has a copy of VP 6 on his G3 and he is always bugging me to figure out what’s wrong, don’t want to go there twice.
Kappy, the only software his is concerned with is the Scottrade elite. If I suggest he consider a different trading software, there will be dead silence on the other end of the phone. However, I did find a Mac Trading software called thinkorswim http://www.brokeradviser.com/?kw=Think%20Or%20Swim&r=GG_kwThinkOrSwim2a Which would make all my questions moot (irrelevant) as he could use any G4/5, but... Gee, there would be no Windows attracting those nasty viruses using a Mac too!
    Expanding on Kappy's reply:
Kappy, are you saying running Virtual PC on my G4 not only attracts viruses, which I had heard, but also has security problems, making my Mac OS X unstable? That makes me ill. BTW, I never use the internet while using the VPC. Can I still get viruses when I'm using the internet in OSX because I have VPC installed?
Again, thank you all for your help and making it easy for me to follow. I will mark the solved/help options as soon as I know this topic is finished.

  • Migration of data, does it erase it from the old Mac?

When using the Migration Assistant does it actually transfer data to a new Mac, erasing it from the old Mac or does it copy the data from one Mac to another leaving the information on both machines?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback and reward. Good computing.

  • Does FCP 3 work on an intel mac?

Will it work on an MacBook Pro running MAC OS X 10.6.8 with a 2.66 ghz intel core 2 duo. 4gb ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M video card?
I am getting conflicting advice elsewhere.
    Thanks.

With such an old Final Cut Pro version, I doubt he will have serious problems. Note that Final Cut Pro 3 is designed to work with G4 Macs that were released before 2005, so the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GPU, although it is an integrated GPU and it is not the best GPU for video editing, should work (it is even compatible with the latest Final Cut Pro)

  • Where does Blackberry Desktop Manager save the Passwords in Password Manager?

Ok, so I lost my Blackberry and am trying to figure out if there's any way to retrieve from password file from my laptop.
I've poked around and even called AT&T but I can't find anything that looks like the Password Manager file. What would the file be named? What would the extension be?

No, you have to click on the little button in Desktop Manager that says "BACKUP".
Your sync does not sync the Password Keeper.
