Does password lock Bluetooth dial-out on Pre?

Hi,
I currently have a Treo 700P and am interested in the Pre.
One thing that annoys me to no end with the Treo, is that
if I have a password set, my Bluetooth hands-free
cannot dial out without me entering the password
on the phone.  That renders the hands-free essentially
useless.
If I have paired the phone and the hands-free unit
with a bluetooth passcode, that, in my opinion,
should be sufficient authentication.
Does anyone know if Palm has fixed this problem on the Pre?
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Sprint)

I feel the passcode is best. If you are worried about your notes, then you should be worried about everything. You don't care that somebody can go to any site you have logged into and had it remember your password? You are not worried about them making calls? You are not worried about them having full access to your email accounts?
If a lock was provided for the notes, then why stop there, add a lock to every application.
You do know you can set a delay on the passcode lock right? You don't have to enter it every time you go to use the phone. You can make it just lock after x amount of time of non-use. For me, I have that set at 5 mins. So if I get a txt, I unlock, reply. Lock screen put in pocket. Friend replies like a minute later, I don't have to enter code again as it was under 5 mins since I locked it. To me that is good enough to not be annoyed by having to do it everytime but know it will lock in time so no one person can really gain access once it is idle for a bit.

    Maybe by:
    If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
      Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.
    Otherwise yo will have to reestore and thus erse the iPOd
    Disabled
    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
    You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • My password lock cannot be turned off (button is greyed out and does not react) and I cannot set to "simple" password (4 digits) for the same reason (button greyed out)

    Today, I got a message from my iphone 4 telling me that my password was expired and that I had to change it.
    Now I am forced to enter a 8 character long password and I cannot turn off the password lock (button is greyed out and does not react) and I cannot change to "simple" code.
    I am so upset that I am considering throwing the bloody thing to the rubbish bin
    Can you help?

    Hello, if your install disk is locked (I assume with FileVault) there is no way to change the password. If it weren't locked there were at least two solutions. As far as I know, the only solutions now are:
    - contact your dad
    - erase and reinstall the OS X clean
    Let us know.

  • Phone can dial out but does not ring on incoming calls

    We have a strange problem with a 7961G phone. It's configured the same as all of our other phones in CMM, but it can dial out but when dialing in the phone does not ring nor does the call appear to be routed to the phone. I called out from the phone to my cell and it displays the correct Caller ID information. Any ideas???

    I would check the partition that the DN on the called phone is in and the CSS of the calling phone. These are the two fundamental principles that control when a phone can call another phone.
    You might want to change the partition of the called DN to momentarily, to see that the calling phone can call it. All phones can call the partition unless there are explicit blocks put in place.

  • GE 31591 does not dial out

    Hi - This is my second Skype phone. I first go the RTX 3088 and had to reboot the base every couple of days. I then bit the bullet and purchased the GE 31591 and set up was a breeze, the only problem I encountered was that I did learn to dial out I needed to dial 1-areacode - xxx-xxxx but I could live with dialing the extra 1. All was good for about 2 weeks and then out of the blue I tried calling my own cell number to look for my phone and noticed that it would not dial out. I can hear the phone dialing out and then it goes silent and my cell phone does not ring.(nor any othe phones that I dial) The GE 31591 recieves calls fine. I purchase a skype number so that I could get rid of my landline. I can dial out from my PC when I login to this same Skype account. I tried rebooting the base station but nothing works. This has been like this for a couple of weeks. I have invested alot of money and time into Skype and really do not want to go back to a landline.

    Hi - I fixed this - It appears that a firmware update changed my Preferred line setting.

  • Why is it i can still dial out using siri even if my phone is locked ?

    are apple going to bring out an update to sort this out

    Depends wher you obtained the iPhone from and it's original supplier
    If the iPhone is an authorised unlock ( approved by the carrier) or was
    purchased from Apple as an unlocked iPhone  updating the iOS
    will have no effect on the iPhone and it's lock status
    HOWEVER if the software has been tampered with to remove the lock,
    updating the iOs will lock the iPhone back to the original carrier who holds the lock
    To find out the status of your iPhone  you could call Apple support
    and they may tell you if the iPhone is locked or not and if it is which carrier

  • Help? iPhone4 does not always dial out, receive calls or send and receive texts.

    My problem started about 8 days ago. I did nothing to my phone, changed no settings, yet last Tuesday it just stopped sending texts for a period of about 4 hours. I could not dial out. Basically, my phone was useless. I also noticed the 3G was not working. It would connect to my home wifi network but nothing else. It started working that night. During this past week, it has done this same thing off and on again. There is no particular pattern. The rest of my family have 3 phones (not Iphones, but basic cell phones through Verizon) and they have not had one issue. During my "blackout" periods, I will have them dial my phone and it will ring on their end for me, but my phone actually will not ring. What gives?? Also, when I am not able to receive or send texts, when my phone starts working again, I will receive all texts I could not get all at once. So, to me this strongly sounds like a Verizon issue within their network. Please help??

        Hi Elizabeth Cara, I like to help with the issues with your iPhone 4. The details you provided were great. However, I like to ask a few more questions. How often do you restart your iPhone 4? Are you mainly on the indoors when these issues occur? Even though you did not make any changes on your iPhone 4, it is good to double check make sure they are all set properly. Here are a two suggestions you can use. One is to reset your network settings via this link http://tinyurl.com/dxuf54m. Another suggestion is to do a ensure your Wi-Fi is disabled on your iPhone 4. Here are the steps http://tinyurl.com/bpekjpj. Give these options a try. Retest your iPhone 4 after each suggestion seeing if either helps with the issues reported.

  • HT204387 Does iOS support Bluetooth printing, any idea by when would that come out.

    Hi
    I am trying to print a receipt using bluetooth on an iPhone app, the printer is a Zebra printer QL 420 plus. I am unable to do so. The iOS documentation states Air Print as a method to print. Is that the only option that we have to print using iOS.
    This is urgent as I have a customer delivery.

    No one would have any idea what Apple plans, unless they announse - which is very rare.
    Iphone does not support bluetooth printing.

  • Does password-protecting a Pages document also encrypt it?

    I know that there are some programs out there that let you set a password but don't actually encrypt the files *cough*Day One*cough*. Does Pages encrypt documents? And if so, with what encryption?

    Another method is to save it as a password locked PDF.
    From your open Document, Print,
    click on the PDF dropdown
    Save as PDF
    Click Security Options and set a password.
    Save.
    Whether this suits your needs I don't know. I thought I'd throw it in there.

  • 1841 router must accept calls NOT dial out

    Hi,
    I have a 1841 router with WIC-1B S/T interface.The scenario is like people from various countries dialing into the router (by using a number given by the TELCO where the router is physically locted). The router must accept these calls and provide access for internal resources. I am familiar with the scenario of a router dialing out to another router using dialer-string, dialer remote-name, username and password.
    But how can the router with WIC-1B S/T be configured to accept analog calls (assuming it is possible).
    Pls help with some config examples.
    Thx n Regards
    Sonu

    Hi,
    I have tried to fork up some information about it, but unfortunately I haven't found anything. What I'm sure the 2800/3800 series have digital modem PVDM hosting digital modems. It looks the 1800 series does not support it and the only way to terminate analogue calls is to use WIC-xAM modem card but obviously it cannot be used with ISDN line but analogue.
    Hope it helps, rate if does

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
